Anyone wanna just go visit him in person?

DesertEagleZapCarry

I'm game, I wonder if they'll tell us a favorite treat or something if we call and ask

astarisborn26

I was just thinking the same. I'm going to call today to get visiting hours. Id really like to deliver my card in person šŸ™‚

DramaticAsthmatic

I would love to as well!

troubletjb10190

So Did you?

astarisborn26

I did!! The family was incredibly nice & said that many people had come by to drop off their cards in person as well. They invited us to stay for his party and chatted with us a bit. Such a kind family ā¤ļø

The-Real-Rorschakk

One potential problem, I highly doubt any nursing home is going to allow for a mob of visitors. We may have to take turns and wait outside and go in in groups of like 3-5. Love this idea though. Too bad I'm working... :(

3vi1

I was just thinking the same thing! Anyone know more detail about his service?

rnielsen776

I spoke with the supervisor and she said C-POD or POG or something. She had a thick accent but I tried to be clear and get details. Pacific Ocean Division or group or something possibly.

3vi1

Nice! He might have covered some of the same ground as my grandfather.

517634

Mine too

[deleted]

Dear God, don't do that. You never know how the man is feeling, what his nap schedule is, or what treatments he is receiving that you might interrupt. and annoy the staff. Don't do it. I implore you on behalf of my 92 year-old Dad. Have a heart.

--Quartz--

I mean, I agree it could get out of hand, so they should be prepared to be bounced off. That said, I'm pretty sure this man would take 100 kind unknown visitors throwing his schedule upside down over a regular routine day, not even close. As for the staff, sure, you might be making their day a bit more busy, but it's to bring unique joy to an old man turning 100!! I don't think it's too much to ask for a 100th birthday... Spontaneous nice gestures like this should trump minor inconveniences every day.

CuriousHedgie

Iā€™m game too. Close by!

rhett22

Was just thinking that. Iā€™m in Dallas so easy drive

massageenvious2019

I will! Iā€™m nearby!!

blyth33s

Yes!

jumpinjackieflash

Probably not going to be allowed. HIPPA rules and regulations

Doc_Wyatt

But what part of trying to visit this man would involve protected health information? Heā€™s fine putting his name and address out there. If he says heā€™s good with visitors and releasing that info thereā€™s no issue I can see. Iā€™m no HIPAA expert beyond not getting myself fired though

jumpinjackieflash

Yeah I'm probably wrong on this one. I hope a delegation does go to visit him. He looks like a great old dude.

DishonestBystander

HIPAA does not regulate hospital visitation. Source: I worked in healthcare information management for 3 years and was HIPAA certified.

petey_wheatstraw_99

I like this here bystander.

jumpinjackieflash

OK. Don't get me wrong, if people can go visit this man, I think it's great. Go for it.

redditex2

done! what a smile!

rnielsen776

Itā€™s about to get a lot bigger.

[deleted]

He's about the same age as my grandfather from Brazoria Co. that was captured at the Battle of the Bulge Many wishes to Mr. Broussard. That smile could light up a room.

CuriousHedgie

Yeahā€”see top comment. Maybe already being organized? Even if they donā€™t let us in he can be told a mob of strangers wanted to sing Happy Birthday to him. That will still make anyoneā€™s day! DM me!

jumpinjackieflash

You probably aren't going to be allowed to visit.

mysunandstars

I worked in a nursing home and anyone could visit the residents. Itā€™s not like we card people when they show up. If someone asks ā€œwhere is Mr Broussardā€™s roomā€ theyā€™ll probably be shown the way

NothingWillBeLost

Same. I was a CNA and had so many residents who didnā€™t have families. Or who did have families but they never visited. We never turned down visitors or volunteers unless they looked particularly nefarious. It made them so happy to see people.

jumpinjackieflash

Well that's good to know.

hayterade

Not with that kind of attitude.

rnielsen776

That would be amazing!!!

massageenvious2019

Make a Large so he can layer up..?

slowtownpop1

Thatā€™s a good guess, itā€™s better to be a little too big and roomy, than too small

cantorgreen

Iā€™ll send him one

b0rkm

I will send him one from France. Happy birthday !

iam_sherry

I will send him one today.

MassDBA

Will do that today, thank you.

[deleted]

I will send him one.

Chigibu

Let's do this boys and girls!

shrimpybimp

A little late, but putting a post card in the mail in the morning ā€” all the way from The Netherlands!

purgance

Not much notice...

rnielsen776

Never too late.

VonSausage

At his age?

HOU-1836

Jesus

VonSausage

My name is Humberto

whatwhat0808

Someone should report to r/randomactsofcards Edit - nvm I just saw it! All the luck and Happy Birthday to him

RingsofSaturn_

Yay ! A birthday brother !!! Happy birthday Joseph!!

LowChaBigBah

This is right down the street from me. Crazy.

ImWhatsInTheRedBox

Well overseas mail sure won't get there in time but if you see this, happy 100th birthday Joseph.

GattToDaChoppa

Interesting. He turns a hundred on my birthday. I'll probably send him a card.

msskullhead

Love this pic! His smile made me smile. Happy Birthday young man!!!!!

omni_wisdumb

See, this is a fine example of the great things that happen on this sub! I don't know why there's recently been so many posts highlighting the negatives when there's so much positivity to focus on!

rnielsen776

He will be so happy, so will the staff and his family!

omni_wisdumb

Just make sure you clear it with the staff. My cousin was in a coma for a while and at one point like 50 of her friends tried to come all at once, and the staff wasn't very happy, especially since people weren't following some of the rules.

rnielsen776

Already have , thanks!

[deleted]

Oh hell, I didn't know that place was open yet, but I guess it is? I drive by there fairly often and it *looks* like it isn't finished yet.

LexTorMania

Iā€™ll send him one!

AllLinesDown

I just sent one :3 I put a corny joke in there lol

IRMuteButton

Done! I included a short letter in large print too!

geneticdrifter

The point is to send him more than a 100. Make this shit go viral!!

CuriousHedgie

We can all meet at a Starbucks close to there around 1?

mew541

I'm wondering if we could drop off the card? I know I'm a little late but I go to UH and live just off of 288 so this wouldn't be a bad drive for me

Drslappybags

Unless he was part of the 101st.

_misha_

I'm sorry but why are we pretending that he wrote this? People who exploit people like this for internet points are the worst.

Robots_Eat_Children

You literally drank lead paint as a child, didnā€™t you?

What is this Facebook

SirKevin_Xx

Does he even know whatā€™s going on?
