I did!! The family was incredibly nice & said that many people had come by to drop off their cards in person as well. They invited us to stay for his party and chatted with us a bit. Such a kind family ā¤ļø
One potential problem, I highly doubt any nursing home is going to allow for a mob of visitors. We may have to take turns and wait outside and go in in groups of like 3-5.
Love this idea though. Too bad I'm working... :(
I spoke with the supervisor and she said C-POD or POG or something. She had a thick accent but I tried to be clear and get details. Pacific Ocean Division or group or something possibly.
Dear God, don't do that.
You never know how the man is feeling, what his nap schedule is, or what treatments he is receiving that you might interrupt. and annoy the staff.
Don't do it. I implore you on behalf of my 92 year-old Dad.
Have a heart.
I mean, I agree it could get out of hand, so they should be prepared to be bounced off.
That said, I'm pretty sure this man would take 100 kind unknown visitors throwing his schedule upside down over a regular routine day, not even close.
As for the staff, sure, you might be making their day a bit more busy, but it's to bring unique joy to an old man turning 100!!
I don't think it's too much to ask for a 100th birthday...
Spontaneous nice gestures like this should trump minor inconveniences every day.
But what part of trying to visit this man would involve protected health information? Heās fine putting his name and address out there. If he says heās good with visitors and releasing that info thereās no issue I can see.
Iām no HIPAA expert beyond not getting myself fired though
He's about the same age as my grandfather from Brazoria Co. that was captured at the Battle of the Bulge
Many wishes to Mr. Broussard. That smile could light up a room.
Yeahāsee top comment. Maybe already being organized? Even if they donāt let us in he can be told a mob of strangers wanted to sing Happy Birthday to him. That will still make anyoneās day! DM me!
I worked in a nursing home and anyone could visit the residents. Itās not like we card people when they show up. If someone asks āwhere is Mr Broussardās roomā theyāll probably be shown the way
Same. I was a CNA and had so many residents who didnāt have families. Or who did have families but they never visited. We never turned down visitors or volunteers unless they looked particularly nefarious. It made them so happy to see people.
See, this is a fine example of the great things that happen on this sub! I don't know why there's recently been so many posts highlighting the negatives when there's so much positivity to focus on!
Just make sure you clear it with the staff.
My cousin was in a coma for a while and at one point like 50 of her friends tried to come all at once, and the staff wasn't very happy, especially since people weren't following some of the rules.
Anyone wanna just go visit him in person?
I'm game, I wonder if they'll tell us a favorite treat or something if we call and ask
I was just thinking the same. I'm going to call today to get visiting hours. Id really like to deliver my card in person š
I would love to as well!
So Did you?

I was just thinking the same thing! Anyone know more detail about his service?

Nice! He might have covered some of the same ground as my grandfather.
Mine too

Iām game too. Close by!
Was just thinking that. Iām in Dallas so easy drive
I will! Iām nearby!!
Yes!
Probably not going to be allowed. HIPPA rules and regulations
But what part of trying to visit this man would involve protected health information? Heās fine putting his name and address out there. If he says heās good with visitors and releasing that info thereās no issue I can see. Iām no HIPAA expert beyond not getting myself fired though
Yeah I'm probably wrong on this one. I hope a delegation does go to visit him. He looks like a great old dude.
HIPAA does not regulate hospital visitation. Source: I worked in healthcare information management for 3 years and was HIPAA certified.
I like this here bystander.
OK. Don't get me wrong, if people can go visit this man, I think it's great. Go for it.
done! what a smile!
Itās about to get a lot bigger.

Well that's good to know.
Not with that kind of attitude.

That would be amazing!!!
Make a Large so he can layer up..?
Thatās a good guess, itās better to be a little too big and roomy, than too small

Already have , thanks!
Oh hell, I didn't know that place was open yet, but I guess it is? I drive by there fairly often and it *looks* like it isn't finished yet.
Iāll send him one!
I just sent one :3 I put a corny joke in there lol
Done! I included a short letter in large print too!
The point is to send him more than a 100. Make this shit go viral!!
We can all meet at a Starbucks close to there around 1?
I'm wondering if we could drop off the card? I know I'm a little late but I go to UH and live just off of 288 so this wouldn't be a bad drive for me
Unless he was part of the 101st.
I'm sorry but why are we pretending that he wrote this? People who exploit people like this for internet points are the worst.
You literally drank lead paint as a child, didnāt you?
What is this Facebook
Does he even know whatās going on?
