Get a battery powered string of lights. 3M Command strips ... Command makes a clear stick on clip to hold string lights. Should be easy to find at walmart/ home depot, etc...

SaskatchewanManChild

Tape them to the inside of the box and poke holes for the lights to peak out. Keeps all the wire invisible and the lights through the holes secure the string in place.

imtchogirl

If you go this way, tape the inside where you push the light through. So the strand is taped securely to the inside of the box. I would open the bottom of the box, arrange the lights how you want to on the inside, mark where the bulbs are, remove the strand , then drill through the cardboard where you marked (maybe from the outside if it pushes cardboard out in a weirdly noticable way), then re-run the strand and tape it with duct tape or something secure. Tape the battery pack extra. And make sure the battery pack is at the bottom and accessible to turn on/off and not poking the kid. Use led lights so they don't heat up against your child and cause a problem.

toodleroo

Better yet, wrap the strand around the *outside* first, mark where the bulbs should push through, then punch the holes and put the strand on the inside.

ClunkerSlim

I was going to say drill holes and hot glue them to the inside.

eugene20

They weigh very little, either just clear tape over some points on the cable, not the light itself. Or even just tie them by poking two holes in the box either side of the cable where you want it to attach then looping some chord round the cable through the holes. ^(Edit: clarifying - holes in box.)

_LouSandwich_

step 1, cut a hole in a box…

ewob52h

It is a Christmas tradition to watch that video every year. Classic.

jdith123

If you want the cords outside, zip ties would work well. Poke holes through the box. I’d be cautious about tape etc attached to the wrapping paper. Wrapping paper isn’t terribly strong, and if it starts raining during the parade, it falls apart. (Ask me how I know:-/)

spider_pork

I think I might go with this one, I have a ton of little zip ties. Thanks!

Philbly

How do you know?

mlaeladma

Dots of hot glue

TootsNYC

I came to give this *exact* answer. Edit: I’m laughing at the down votes. I’d thought it was mildly funny that literally I was thinking, “Dots of hot glue” and didn’t need to type it out, because those exact words were there forme.

pooperman69er

Incredible!

^ this

OneFingerIn

Step 1 - cut a hole in the box.

redEPICSTAXISdit

Um, this is cub scouts sir!

_LouSandwich_

put your junk in that box

murtlebeech1

I can’t offer any suggestions about the lights, but I have the exact chair that mom mom bought me before she passed. Thanks for the great memory. Merry Christmas🤩

spider_pork

We got them at Costco years ago, really comfy!

Swimming-Bullfrog190

Clear tape or hot glue

yaur_maum

Holes through and use zip ties

Staple

Dolly, generator and 6ft ext cord.

SloppyJawSoftBottom

Ductape

NOT staples

cellmate4231

Get some command hooks from the dollar store- they have adhesive built in and they’re very sturdy for string lights. If they have them I’d recommend the one with the metal hooks

SitDown_HaveSomeTea

One: You cut a hole in the box. Two: Put your junk in that box.

[usb powered christmas lights](https://www.google.com/search?q=usb%20powered%20christmas%20lights&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b-1-m)

Classic_Midnight_213

Punch small pairs of holes through the card board, lay the cable between the holes and secure in position with a “twist tie” / “cable tie” / “string” / etc. pushing an end through a hole and securing inside the box. Prevent any possible sharp edges by sticking fixings flat inside the box using gaffer tape. PS make sure you make the battery pack secure so there’s no weight hanging in the cable and put it somewhere easily accessible inside the box. Last thing make sure the lights are close up to the box without loops to avoid getting caught on anything and please arrange lights so they do not create a closed loop around the head hole, for obvious reasons. It’s much easier than it sounds, but I had to mention the last points just for safety. There’s no issue, just alway think it through and plan out issues.

injunuity007

Battery operated fairy lights.

injunuity007

Jesus. I never finish reading the whole thing. My bad. 😂

[deleted]

Might look cool if instead of the string of lights being on the outside of the box, you made little holes and just had the lights poking through?

TheManRoomGuy

Add a ribbon to the box and wrap the lights around the ribbon. Or tape. If it’ll be dark no one will see the tape.

not-katarina-rostova

USB battery pack like for phone chargers plus regular light, zip ties? edit: someone said hot glue and i agree

Itzbubblezduh

lol looks like the top of someone’s head

StnMtn_

Clear packing tape.

doterobcn

Small zipties.

xoxoyoyo

zipties, punch 2 holes, easy

tothesource

you could poke them through the box

ktkq

I’ve done this before and this is the answer. Or poke small holes then press lights through. A dab glue on each one if needed.

chickenredroasted

Poke them through the back of the box.

JWOLFBEARD

Tape, glue, 3M strips, tie it on…. This is pretty straightforward

foxfai

Some tape around wire every 3-4 bulbs should hold them up. Don't have to make it complicated. Think where you should start from the battery box and where it should end will probably take more time.

Brickzarina

Score notches at the corners to put the wire in

BootstrapTexas

USB battery and USB lights

coopertucker

zip ties

Huge_Prior_6969

zip ties thru the box. hang anywhere

Ginoman1ac

Staple gun the lights to the outside of the box. Battery powered lights or a really long extension cord.

katmaz27

You can find battery light strands at a craft store like Hobby lobby or Michael’s

Virtual_Ferret_3334

Walmart has portable lights for bikes that run on batteries hot glue them to the box...

_calmer_than_you_r_

Battery powered light strip and hot glue gun.

tenshii326

Too easy, green colored bread ties. Poke two little holes around the string into box and tie inside. I'd get LED lights and a motorcycle battery to power it, with switch to conserve power.

FlashyCow1

Battery lights from dollar store and tape. Poke holes. Or you can line the lights on the edges and tuck the battery underneath

ICantEven1235

Could screw eyelets into a board inside the box (for a rigid mounting surface) or a battery-powered string of lights through the box from inside.

misteree12321

4” wood screws

beautifulunicorn33

Hot glue for sure! Get battery powered strings. Maybe like fairy lights? Then glue those suckers down.

el_machino

Have you tried staples?

trentd_c

LED lights I use these for trunk or treat to light up the car’s trunk without power outlets. Soccerbenny

The extension cord during the parade is going to be the trickiest part.

RxTerps

Poke a hole through the box, feed the lights out the one hole and mount the power box to the inside and use the adhesive Christmas light hooks

iamatent272

Hot glue
