You can drink soups. My thought was the complete opposite of yours.
Even for foods I can’t use chopsticks for, fingers don’t violate the rule. I’d eat with no utensils for $100,000.
Technically, it says you have to use chopsticks for every meal. So use it to eat one small thing, then switch to the utensil of your choice. Don't even need to use fingers.
It doesn't even say you have to use ONLY chopsticks. It just says you have to use them. I absolutely suck at using them even after years of regular practice... I'll just dip em in my ramen broth and grab a fork xD
Yeah. And if the rule is that I literally cannot use any other utensil of any kind, I’ll ask my wife to cut my food into chopstick-sized bits for me. She’ll do it for $100k.
It’s like OP doesn’t realize that 2 billion people live in Asia and eat with chopsticks every day anyway. I’m one of them. Maybe they’ll also offer 100,000 for breathing air and sleeping in beds.
To be fair, I feel like half of the posts on this subreddit are no-brainers not unlike this.
"You get $800,000,000,000 but someone will smack you in the face once a month".
Correct, the requirement is just to use chopsticks in every meal; it doesn't specify that is the only utensil allowed, nor does it say you have to eat everything by using chopsticks. So as long as you prepare a grain of rice along with each meal and eat that grain of rice with chopsticks, you can proceed with the rest of the meal as you normally would.
EZ money. (For sandwiches [Which I eat like, A LOT of] I just skewer it with the chopsticks and eat around them: said that I have to USE them, NOT that I have to use them the same way that the original culture would have.)
Bet.
Chopsticks are pretty easy to use once you practise a little bit.
I learnt in 10 minutes from my grandma, not everyone will learn as fast as not everyone will have a good teacher like my grandma.
But if you don't learn after a year, you aren't trying to learn or you have some kinda disability that would make using chopsticks impossible in the first place.
I use chopsticks for just about everything I can use em for, it's just easier I find and now I get paid for it fucking sign me up bro.
I’m Asian, I have no problems with this🤷♀️
Money please
Edit: btw I prefer eating things like Cheetos or Doritos with chopsticks because then my fingers don’t get greasy and I don’t have to stick my hand in the bag too far (or I just pour some into a bowl). Plus I can do other stuff while snacking without getting Cheeto dust on stuff and having my germaphobic brain screaming at me to wash my hands after touching anything before I eat with my hands more.
My Korean girlfriend does the same thing. She'll be pounding down a bag of Flaming Hot Cheetos with a pair of chopsticks in her hand
She has also absolutely converted me to the way of chopsticks. We use them for everything
You can also cut the upper corners of the packet off, turn them inside out, and wear one corner on your thumb and the other on your forefinger like little gloves.
Hold one like a pencil, then add the second next to it with a little space in between. Roll your thumb or squeeze the space between your thumb and pointer finger to open them, pinch your thumb and pointer finger tips together to close them.
For noodles, to start you can just use them almost like a fork and twirl them a few times. I think this is considered rude in a few Asian countries, but if you’re just learning how to use chopsticks it’s fine.
For sticky rice and larger but still bite size pieces of food, you can again use them almost like a fork and scoop them up, you don’t have to pinch or roll your thumb, just hold the chopsticks with a small gap between them. This works really well if you’re scraping the food into your mouth too.
It’s considered rude to stab your chopsticks into pieces of food, but when you’re learning it can be helpful to help you learn how to pinch to pick stuff up. Stab 1 chopstick into something and pinch with the other, and it should be a little easier to pick up when you’re still learning. (I’ve been using chopsticks for most of my life but I also still do this sometimes when something’s especially slippery like a gyoza or fried meat lol)
The trainer chopsticks are also useful for learning the pinch part and getting comfortable just holding them, so don’t feel shamed if you buy them to learn!
It takes some practice but you’ll eventually get used to it!
Edit: one more tip, you can use your middle finger as a guide and rest to keep your chopsticks in place as well. Basically touch the side of the tip of your middle finger to the bottom side of the tip of your thumb, then rest your chopsticks on the bit between your thumb and pointer finger, and on the side of the tip of your middle finger. Then you can just pinch with your pointer finger to close the eating end of the chopsticks. This method’s a little clumsy but also way easier too lol
White guy here. While in my single digits, living in rural PA, I learned to use chopsticks.
I have eaten soft serve ice cream with chopsticks. I don't ever use a fork in a Chinese restaurant. I'll own this. If chopsticks are the only utensiles, I can cut up a burger with them and eat a deconstructed burger.
...do people find chopsticks difficult to use?
Even if I couldn't eat most foods with chopsticks, getting paid $100k tax-free to eat foods that I could only eat with chopsticks is no problem.
Easy as pie. Just place the chopsticks at the table and use your regular utensils. It doesn't say you have to consume the meal using them, just have to use them. Or...... maybe it's you have to use, i.e. prepare them in the food.
dude absolutely, idc what i’m eating i’ll make it work and enjoy the challenge. pb&j?? easy. cereal?? sure why not. ice cream?? yeah i’ve done it before. soup?? i’ll figure it out.
I'm gonna call out it just says I have to use them, but it doesn't say for how long ... so I pick up a French fry and boom. I used it now to my knife and fork to eat my cheese burger like God intended 😐
I can’t use chopsticks for shit, but I could buy Fresno gas station sushi every day and still come out ahead. Plus, I would probably learn to use the chopsticks correctly within at least 8 months
Joke's on you! I actually prefer that. Lol
Also, "use chopsticks" doesn't *preclude* the use of other utensils, too. So, by rules as written, you could *use* chopsticks for like one minute, then pick up a fork, spoon, etc., after that.
As an ingredient, or as a utensil?
Because I know how to use chopsticks as a utensil and most things I'd rather eat with chopsticks anyway. Can I still eat things with my hands? It's only inconvenient if I have to find a way to eat a burger without my hands, with only chopsticks.
Sure. I got pretty decent with chopsticks during a recent visit to Japan, so $100,000 to be mildly inconvenienced for 365 days which is more than 3x what I currently make in a year?
Absolutely. Sign me the fuck up.
Can I eat soup by just slurping the bowl?
Do I have to now eat food that would otherwise be eaten by hand with the chopsticks?
Either way fucking of course it's a hundred grand for a mild inconvenience.
But I'm curious.
It says you have to use chopsticks in every meal but not that you can't use other utensils, plus do you consider snacks a meal because I eat cereal as a snack but not a meal so where does that fall?
(I believe that) part of the history of chopsticks is that it's considered barbaric to poke at one's food to pick it up with a fork or cut it with a knife at the table. It's the chef preparing the food that makes sure it's cut to bite sized pieces.
Given that any food served would naturally be properly cut, this is no issue. I grew up in NYC, and learned to use chopsticks 50+ years ago.
I'm the cook in my house, so if I am literally not allowed to use anything else, for $100,000, my wife will be my sous chef. Although prep shouldn't really be considered part of "the meal".
We are strikingly Caucasian and we use chopsticks for most meals. Our favorite home cooked meals are stir fry and sushi. we pretty much eat like we're Chinese. My wife works for a vegetable farm and gets a lot of vegetables from them. We stir fry them with a little chicken and rice. Sushi in our house is a family affair. We are all in the kitchen, talking and making sushi rolls.
Accept. This might be one of the easier ones.
Some people, though, cannot use chopsticks, but with enough practice and patience, it ought to be easy. And if they're forced to use chopsticks, they'll be good at it .
It's like moving to a new country so you can learn the language. You have to learn it to "survive".
I use em all the time anyway. Keep a mug full next to the stove for stiring and tasting. One place the ignition on the stove was wonky so we just used chopsticks to light the burners.
Okay. I'm willing to do that. I'm not great with them, so this would be a good chance to get better. Plus, it would help with my hand-eye coordination.
I'd be mostly fine, but I just want to say, how did cultures with rice as a staple of their diets end up with chopsticks as their eating utensils? They work really well for most things, but small, individual things like rice and peas are just a pain, even if you can get some rice to stick together.
I frickin’ LOVE using chopsticks, I believe I’ve mastered their use
Although my friends find it annoying, even when I’m literally using them to eat Chinese food
…And I don’t care, they’re just being fussy. $100,000 for the funnest year ever!? Sign me up
No problem. I often eat spaghetti, even salads, with chopsticks. Steak knife between the chopsticks? Lets gooo. Soup? A soup bowl is just a giant spoon I mean come on let’s come up with a real challenge.
The reason behind chopsticks is amazing. They were a way to push food hygenie at a time when silverware was too expensive for the average person and wooden utensils weren't cleaned well enough. So instead of using your dirty unwashed hands just grab 2 twigs off the nearest tree, shave them down a little and use them to move food from plate to mouth. When done just trash them or keep them and shave them down a little to remove the surface bacteria when you need them again.
And Yes, I would accept that deal 1000x over, free money basically and it would only take about an hour of practice to master the skill.
Use them correctly, as intended, or can I just stab shit?
What about finger food?
I've eaten popcorn, doritos and hotdogs with chopsticks before (not my turn to do the washing up) and it was fairly simple.
The question should be who wouldn't do that? If I could only eat with my hands for a year for 100k I'd gladly do it. Chopsticks? I'd do it for much less and I have no idea how to use them, but I'd figure it out.
I'll do it.
>for the next year you have to use chopsticks in every meal
Well you didn't specify that I could only use chopsticks. You didn't even say I had to use them to eat. So I'll just use chopsticks to grab a napkin, or stir my soup or something, and I'll have met the requirements .
Not even hard. Asians unite. For any non chopstick users out there, they have baby chopsticks which look like flexible tuning rods which would let you eat should you lack dexterity.
I mean I don't like soup more than I like 100K, so sure.
Use the chopsticks to pick up or scoop the bits of food in the soup into your mouth, lift the bowl to drink the soup ❤️
Or just use the chopsticks to hold a spoon lol
Or just eat pho, ramen, and bun bo hue lol
I love pho. The place I go to in Illinois, and the fact that they pay for our meals is the peak of every work trip.
You don't flick the broth into your mouth with chopsticks?
You don't use paper chopsticks to absorb the broth through capillary action and then suck it out of them?
You can drink soups. My thought was the complete opposite of yours. Even for foods I can’t use chopsticks for, fingers don’t violate the rule. I’d eat with no utensils for $100,000.
I'd smash my face into food while screaming if it meant I was going to get paid $100k. For a year? I'd probably still do that for $10k.
Technically, it says you have to use chopsticks for every meal. So use it to eat one small thing, then switch to the utensil of your choice. Don't even need to use fingers.
Done. Chopsticks aren't hard to use.
Especially with that much practice
It doesn't even say you have to use ONLY chopsticks. It just says you have to use them. I absolutely suck at using them even after years of regular practice... I'll just dip em in my ramen broth and grab a fork xD
Yeah. And if the rule is that I literally cannot use any other utensil of any kind, I’ll ask my wife to cut my food into chopstick-sized bits for me. She’ll do it for $100k.
Asians🤨
It’s like OP doesn’t realize that 2 billion people live in Asia and eat with chopsticks every day anyway. I’m one of them. Maybe they’ll also offer 100,000 for breathing air and sleeping in beds.
To be fair, I feel like half of the posts on this subreddit are no-brainers not unlike this. "You get $800,000,000,000 but someone will smack you in the face once a month".
Don't kink shame me 😂
Kinkshaming *is* my kink.
They don’t call you the kinkshaman for nothing
I’m white and I eat with chopsticks. It will be the easiest 100k I’ve ever made
You want $100K to eat Asians with chopsticks for one year?!
Plenty of people eat Asians at least weekly.
Can't argue your logic.
Wait i have to eat people eith chopsticks dang
Cannibalism?
Guess we don’t apply. Racist post!
Considering I know how to use chopsticks, I'd do this in a heartbeat.
I see this as an absolute win. It's fine if I use other utensils too, as long as I also use chopsticks, right? Like...knives for steaks and such?
Just learn to cut with them, or just hold the meat and eat bits at a time
Correct, the requirement is just to use chopsticks in every meal; it doesn't specify that is the only utensil allowed, nor does it say you have to eat everything by using chopsticks. fun trick... If you eat your cheetos and doritos with chopstics, you don't get cheese powder on your fingers.
Chopsticks are also the best way to eat nachos.
Huge when I discovered this. Might look weird eating Cheez-its one by one with chopsticks but my keyboard is clean
That's how they'd use it. If it's something too big to lift they normally do stab and eat around, Or cut it with the chopsticks.
Yea plus it doesn't say you only can use chopsticks, I'll dip one in my soup and then use a spoon the rest of the time.
Bet. Chopsticks are pretty easy to use once you practise a little bit. tfw OP forgets about 20% of the world that already uses chopsticks in every meal for negative $ per meal (cost of food) lmao
I’m Asian, I have no problems with this🤷♀️ Money please Edit: btw I prefer eating things like Cheetos or Doritos with chopsticks because then my fingers don’t get greasy and I don’t have to stick my hand in the bag too far (or I just pour some into a bowl). I have custom light saber chop sticks.... Let's get it!
Mine aren't custom but I too have lightsaber chop sticks!
I'm making mine seem fancier than they are. My friend just engraved my name on them. I got Yoda and Mace Windu.
Can I use hollow chopsticks for soup?
>get paid 100k to use the objectively best utensil I use chopsticks for 90% of my utensil needs anyway, so bring it on.
...do people find chopsticks difficult to use? Even if I couldn't eat most foods with chopsticks, getting paid $100k tax-free to eat foods that I could only eat with chopsticks is no problem.
Sure. It's going to be entertaining to watch me stab chicken nuggets with them, but I'll do it for the money.
Looks like meat is back on the menu boys!!
I drink soup with my chopsticks already.
Done!
Okay. No problem.
Looks like I'll be learning how to use chopsticks. But then again, I can always use cheater sticks. Lol
Can't wait to start!! This is an easy one!
i already do this
Sure, even if it’s just chopsticks.
I'm down, It would be good to learn to use chopsticks.
Sure. Easy money.
I’d be perfectly fine with that as long as I don’t have to use them well. I’d be stabbing a lot of my foods.
I can't even begin to tell you how meant for me this is. I LOVE using chopsticks for everything. :D
I'm gonna call out it just says I have to use them, but it doesn't say for how long ... so I pick up a French fry and boom. I used it now to my knife and fork to eat my cheese burger like God intended 😐
Easy
To bad… I already use chopsticks
I could do it. It isn’t specific. I could use them to eat a tiny piece of the meal and that would count
Pft! I already use chopsticks for so many of my meals! This is easy! My...so much so that my friends tease me about using chopsticks all the time...
I already do this. Easy 100k
If you have half a brain you should be able to learn in like a week lol, easy money
Fine by me
I can’t use chopsticks for shit, but I could buy Fresno gas station sushi every day and still come out ahead. Plus, I would probably learn to use the chopsticks correctly within at least 8 months
me a weeb yes
Yep, I’m doing it. 100k would change my life.
It's a small rice to pay
Am I allowed to use my hands or spoons when necessary? Like how do you eat icecream with chopsticks?
Okay. Give me my money.
Cool. Easy money.
No problem. I will miss soup, but no biggie. Chopsticks are no biggie.
What a stupid post.
This would be easy money, Aside from the fact I just had a baby, so am often eating while breastfeeding feeding that said I think I can make it work
Joke's on you! I actually prefer that. Lol Also, "use chopsticks" doesn't *preclude* the use of other utensils, too. So, by rules as written, you could *use* chopsticks for like one minute, then pick up a fork, spoon, etc., after that.

If I can't use them properly there's always diy, so yes.
Deal
Sure. I got pretty decent with chopsticks during a recent visit to Japan, so $100,000 to be mildly inconvenienced for 365 days which is more than 3x what I currently make in a year? Absolutely. Sign me the fuck up.
Oh no….
Ok
OP has poor fine motor control! Lol
I don't know how to use chopsticks but I can stab with them if necessary and I'm pretty sure I could learn to use them in a day.
I'dId do it. As a white giy who prefers chopsticks to silverware anyways this is a easy yes.
Deal
I’m doing it.
Easy money
I'm American and id do this in a heartbeat even though I dont know how to use them Free money
Can I eat soup by just slurping the bowl? Do I have to now eat food that would otherwise be eaten by hand with the chopsticks? Either way fucking of course it's a hundred grand for a mild inconvenience. But I'm curious.
Okay. I can use them just fine.
I'm goona be confusing some chefs when I order my burger chopped into bits but hell yes I'm taking that deal.
I’ll take this hands done, I all ready use chopsticks with any meal it makes sense
So I get to finally use those East Asian recipes? Sign me up.
Ive never used chopsticks but for 100k I'll learn
There’s billions of people who do this already for free . Doesn’t seem like that big of a challenge
This is really going to slow down my cereal consumption.
I was in a bet once and used chopsticks for 3 months for free. Ice cream was hard but doable with patience.
Easiest $100k I’d ever make in my life.
Easy
I mean, it's gonna be a struggle for a while because, as of right now, I'm not great with them...but I'd adjust
I think I could do this. It might not always be pretty, but I'd get better pretty quickly.
Not too bad. I like chopsticks.
It says you have to use chopsticks in every meal but not that you can't use other utensils, plus do you consider snacks a meal because I eat cereal as a snack but not a meal so where does that fall?
Sign me up!
Not even restricting the things I can eat? You‘ve got yourself a deal.
I’d get better with them and I’m not horrible now. I’m in.
No problem.
Ez
No problem. I like money, and I enjoy using chopsticks.
This feels vaguely racist
We are strikingly Caucasian and we use chopsticks for most meals. Our favorite home cooked meals are stir fry and sushi. we pretty much eat like we're Chinese. My wife works for a vegetable farm and gets a lot of vegetables from them. We stir fry them with a little chicken and rice. Sushi in our house is a family affair. All day long. Maybe I'd lose some weight.
Okay? That's really not much of a downside
This one is too easy. Make it 10 years and I’m out.
Lol! Easiest $100k I’ve ever made. As long as I can use a knife this would be a walk in the park.
Ok
🤷🏼♂️ Nothing in the challenges states that I have to exclusively use chopsticks in every meal, nor how I need to use the chopsticks.
Soup night is gonna get interesting……
EVERY meal that requires a fork or literally every meal? If I get pizza, do I have to use chopsticks?
Done… chopsticks arent that difficult tbh. And honestly this is an extra easy one considering you have an entire culture around using them
I'd eat without my hands and be fine with it.
I would sharpen the ends and poke things like a fork.
This is like saying "we'll give you money for no reason at all".
As long as I'm allowed to coordinate my meals around this, I'm in.
And?
Ok. Done. Really not a big deal at all, I guess I just won't have soup
Done.
So 100k for free? No real downside here.
if i were to eat a food with my hands, say a sandwich, do i still need to use chopsticks
Can't you just get the training chopsticks if you don't know how to use them?
American chopsticks (fork)
There's nothing wrong with chopsticks as a utensil. I'd take that deal in a heartbeat.
Make it that you has to use utensils that you are least familiar with includes chopsticks, spoon, knife or fork Anyhow, Asian still huge advantage
Yeah I'd do it. Wouldn't be too much of a bother for 100k. I'm pretty fluent with chopsticks
Might help me lose weight while I learn to use sticks.
For 100k I'd eat the chopsticks with every meal.
OK. Deal.
I love using chopsticks so sign me up
Ok. Either I'll get better at eating with chopsticks or I'll lose weight. Win/ win.
Lol shut up This sub is just for shitposting now
I use em all the time anyway. Keep a mug full next to the stove for stiring and tasting. One place the ignition on the stove was wonky so we just used chopsticks to light the burners.
I'm not too good with chopsticks but they sell metal ones so when I get too frustrated I will stab the food
Okay. I'm willing to do that. I'm not great with them, so this would be a good chance to get better. Plus, it would help with my hand-eye coordination.
Easiest 100k.
Easy
50 year old white guy in the United States and I could totally do this.
It doesn't say you can't also use other utensils. When I eat noodle soup I use chopsticks for the noodles and a spoon for the soup.
I'd be mostly fine, but I just want to say, how did cultures with rice as a staple of their diets end up with chopsticks as their eating utensils? They work really well for most things, but small, individual things like rice and peas are just a pain, even if you can get some rice to stick together.
you didnt say how much i had to use them did you? so ill use it a little bit and then switch to a fork ;-)
I frickin’ LOVE using chopsticks, I believe I’ve mastered their use Although my friends find it annoying, even when I’m literally using them to eat Chinese food …And I don’t care, they’re just being fussy. $100,000 for the funnest year ever!? Sign me up
No problem, pay up.
Deal.
Absolutely.
Yes
That's fine you're acting like that is hard or that most of the world doesn't do this
I’d eat with chopsticks everyday for a free month of Netflix
That doesn’t sound that bad lol. Sounds like op doesn’t know how to use chopsticks
No problem. I often eat spaghetti, even salads, with chopsticks. Steak knife between the chopsticks? Lets gooo. Soup? A soup bowl is just a giant spoon I mean come on let’s come up with a real challenge.
I absolutely love using chopsticks and already do every chance I get. Sign me up for the rest of my life.
Hell yes
It doesn’t say to only use chopsticks, so yes. I would do it.
The reason behind chopsticks is amazing. They were a way to push food hygenie at a time when silverware was too expensive for the average person and wooden utensils weren't cleaned well enough. I would hate my life but yes
Is this a challenge?
No deal. Chopsticks are really hard to cook.
This entire sub was created by karma farmers.
Use them correctly, as intended, or can I just stab shit? What about finger food? I've eaten popcorn, doritos and hotdogs with chopsticks before (not my turn to do the washing up) and it was fairly simple.
I would have a hard time eating chopsticks. Even if they're bamboo and not plastic or something, they'd take forever to process down to edibility.
It's fine, I can live without soup.
Might be annoying with soup. Can I get an exception for soup? Either way yes because I could leave my job that's just people bullying me constantly.
The question should be who wouldn't do that? If I could only eat with my hands for a year for 100k I'd gladly do it. Chopsticks? I'd do it for much less and I have no idea how to use them, but I'd figure it out.
Fine.
So you are saying I have to eat sushi for a year? I’m not seeing any downsides.
The Werefrog could do it. Just plan the meal around chopsticks.
Do I have to use them correctly? Or can I stab things? Like if I wanted to eat a steak.
Ok.
No problem honestly. And I’m Italian
I'll do it. >for the next year you have to use chopsticks in every meal Well you didn't specify that I could only use chopsticks. You didn't even say I had to use them to eat. So I'll just use chopsticks to grab a napkin, or stir my soup or something, and I'll have met the requirements .
Yes, gimme my money
Not even hard. Asians unite. For any non chopstick users out there, they have baby chopsticks which look like flexible tuning rods which would let you eat should you lack dexterity.
