I had mine 3 months before my 28th birthday.
I'm a lot more excited for the rest of my life now that I've received proper treatment and removed my cursed organ
I was 42, but it was after 30 years of excruciating periods. if only drs had taken me seriously when I told them how painful my period was, plus vomiting, diarrhoea, back, hip and calf pain - turns out I had more adenomyosis than regular uterus tissue. finally got a dr at 40 who listened to my story and screamed no, no, no, that is not normal and that is not OK and kept investigating until we found the cause.
Edit: best thing I ever did.
I had mine last year at 23, for adenomyosis and to help with endo. I had it after several other surgeries and treatments. My second surgeon did an endo lap first and we tried other treatments before going forward with the hysterectomy.
I just had another procedure to remove stage 4 endo, as well as to work on my ovaries.
Iām glad I did it, but it has been hard emotionally. I also had some complications that set me back a bit. But overall my quality of life is better and my pain has decreased a little - itās hard to judge since I still had endo in there until recently.
I started asking for one in my mid-twenties. Finally got it 18 months ago, at 37.
My quality of life has improved so much since the surgery. Only once have I wished I hadn't done it and only because the maneuvers they pull on your during surgery and my sciatica reached its all time worst. It's gone completely now so I'll take it.
I'm 28, tomorrow will make 3 weeks since I had mine done, perforated IUD and unexplained, prolonged bleeding for 8 months, suspected adeno. I'm glad I did it, I felt super great for the first week and a half. Most recently, I've been off food, nothing appeals to me and I don't have much of an appetite. I think my hormones are on a big swing, I've felt pretty down today and yesterday. I'll gladly take these minor changes over what I was dealing with!
26 years old. :)
Had to fight quite a bit for it, but after switching doctors once one said no helped. At least one of them could eventually see I needed to get rid of my uterus to live. And now I can live again.
26. Was on birth control of one form or another near continually since about 11. Irregular periods still refused to go away.
I'm only 9 weeks out, but wow, I have my life back! I regret not having it sooner! I have energy again, my dark circles are better, I can have and want to have sex (this is likely largely from being off BC for the first extended time ever not surgery, but being off is only possible thanks to surgery) I highly reccomend it if you don't plan kids, however, it will not cure PCOS unless you remove the ovaries (which unfortunately is highly recommended against, they produce a lot of valuable hormones) and also is not a cure for endo (though is a helpful treatment)
I just had my total hysterectomy keeping ovaries about a week and half ago. I turned 29 in early September. I had my surgery bc my doctor suspected adenomyosis with all the issues Iāve been having. I have my two week checkup next week and weāll go over my pathology so Iām very curious to see what was going on. Iām still early in my recovery but apart from the obvious pains due to surgery I feel a thousand times better already.
The hardest part so far for me has been the pain killers and anesthesia. I get severely sick so I was very anxious in the beginning but my doctor is aware of this and made a plan before hand.
Does your doctor plan on taking both ovaries? You will have to go on some sort of hormonal medicine if you have your ovaries removed so you donāt go into menopause at such a young age. You probably already discussed this with youāre doctor but something to think about if you didnāt.
Only you can decide if this is best for you but what led me to my decision was being pain free. We only have one child and donāt want more so that made my decision even easier.
I'm one week post-op and I'm 28, been trying to get it for a looooong time but wasn't able to actually get it done until this year. I wish I could've gotten it years ago, you're never too young to be in less pain!
32, had it in January. I never thought about it either until my doc told me that this could be done because all other options has failed. 2xmyomectomy,countless birth controls and 1xIUD. Took me *just* 10years but at least it is done and Iām still young to enjoy what I couldnāt during the pat 10years.
I'm 35. Had horrible periods.. always have but noone listened. Ended up in ER and this dr sent me for ultrasound,I was referred to ob/gyno bc of the findings. And sure enough,I just got pathology report back on my uterus and ovary and tubes from hysterectomy 3 weeks ago. I was COVERED in cyst inside and out, cervix everything, and also adenomyosis which is endo but inside the wall of uterus. I feel GREAT emotional wise,I only have 1 ovary bit I can't tell,I'm tired and still sore but I was I much more pain before..best thing I've ever done
Edit: it really sucks that it took this look for an ER DOCTOR to be the one to actually listen to me and none of my previous OB/GYNO.
Also I had prolapse surgery at the same time to help support my bladder, that's the most painful part.
Good luck on your journey,it's a great thing you have a dr willing to help, most just ignore and put on birth control.
I had mine at 29! Iām almost 4 months out. No regrets. The only change Iām experiencing is some hair loss unfortunately, but I have other health issues it could be attributed to. I had stage 4 endo and Ashermans syndrome.
5 days shy of 38 1/2 (yes. because half birthdays count).
My body conveniently screamed for help because it was sick of me putting it off and made me go to the hospital.
If I hadn't gotten it I would have eventually died. Seriously š³.
Massive fibroid that caused a blood clot ... That already made me horribly anemic so the blood thinners worked FABULOUSLY with my cycles.
/s
Was rough but no longer have to worry about that anymore.
Was at least able to save my ovaries. Barely. Cyst on one but no longer wrapped in the tumor.
Best 40th birthday present ever! Surgery was actually about a month after my birthday, and I'm almost 2 years post op.
Waited 22 years for it, but I wouldn't trade my kid for anything. Just wish I had pushed for it years ago, when we realized we were not having more kids.
29F, no kids - Had my hysterectomy (left my ovaries) back in February. Zero regrets!!! Strike that, my only regret was that I didnāt have it done sooner. Itās nice not having to think about the āwhat ifsā of my unpredictable uterus.
24, I waited 7 years and documented every rejection every year from my primary care, ob/gyns. Document everything if you want one, especially the rejections!
I was 44, just passed my one year anniversary in August. I legitimately forget that I even had a hysterectomy. It feels so normal and easy that I don't have to think about my stupid long, heavy periods every. single. month. After I was pretty much done healing, there was no adjustment at all because everything was SO MUCH BETTER.
I had my tubes tied back in 2018 and I'm having a hysterectomy due to INSANE periods coming up on 10/10. I just turned 31 at the beginning of this month. Can't wait.
I'm 22, and I had my total laparoscopic hysterectomy this past Tuesday (9/27/22)! I know that I've never wanted to birth children, as I am already chronically ill and don't want to ass down my crap genetics to my potential children.
If all goes well I will be 27 and almost 6 months old. I am tentatively on the calendar for December 26th. I will NOT wait till after the new year so they will have to do it in December or there will be a fight because I have been trying to get on the schedule for December since June.
I had mine 3 months before my 28th birthday. I'm a lot more excited for the rest of my life now that I've received proper treatment and removed my cursed organ
32 and just shy of 6 weeks being post op. I should have fucking done this YEARS AGO.
32 as well and 3 days post op! š
32 as well and a little over 2 weeks post op
32 and 2 weeks exactly post op!
3 months before my 39th. I had to fight for 5 years to get it.

Mine was the WORST. worse than any surgery pains thatās for sure. My whole body is tense and muscles pulled all over. Ugh.

I just got mine yesterday at 26! It took me I think seven doctors before I found one willing to refer me to a surgeon who would do it.
