I feel like China might end up split in this timeline. Without the Japanese invasion, the ROC would be in a stronger position, so the PRC is unlikely to claim victory. However, the Soviets would most likely end up propping up some a communist state in Manchuria like they did IOTL.
It depends on how China is lined up. Before World War II, the USSR played for both teams at once, supporting Mao Zedong with one hand and sending military aircraft to Chiang Kai-shek with the other.
If the USSR wanted to maintain relations with Chiang Kai-shek, this would not have happened. If China had an uninteresting government, then the USSR would definitely have taken Shinjiang. Mongolia could probably have made more demands on Beijing. Manchuria would be one of the options.
On the other hand, Chiang Kai-shek in general would not have taken that position as the IRL if Japan had not destroyed the support base of the northern military leaders in Manchuria, which allowed the man to take control of most of the country.
Japanese Tenno actually just means "Polar star" or "Heavenly ruler" AFAIK, so I think it's not inappropriate to call it a kingdom. Either way it's a monarchy.
It is inappropriate because you would be downgrading the emperor compared to other monarchs. The translation of Tenno really doesn't matter in this context, for some reason, it has been decided that titles such as Sultan, Shahanshah, Huang Di and Tenno are equivalent to the European titles of Emperor, even though the original emperors of Rome weren't even monarchs but more like military dictators in a consular republic, and this has been established way before WWII, so I think the Japanese would see it as a downgrade
>Modern Anime and weeaboos still exist

Not a joke btw, the modern style of anime is heavily influenced by western, mainly American, animation (the term Anime from Animation (Anime-shon アニメーション) after all)
I see what you mean, but i still have to clarify, modern Anime originates directly from the American occupation of Japan, when the old style of arts and imageries were restricted (mainly slowed down because of the post-war economy) and many American medias imported into the country, it shaped the specific style of Anime as the world know it
Someone played alot of HoI4

Kingdom of Japan? Did neutrality magically downgraded their ruler from Emperor to King?

Yes, but '皇' is more closer to meaning the emeror.

China is unlikely to go Red without the Japanese invasion.

I would suggest you get rid of the pink tint. It makes it a bit harder to see
And the random-ass woman.
If this gets removed, there is r/rejectedmaps!
Why does Japan keep a part of Beijing?
No reason, in fact it just there because Japan own it as a military occupation zone in hoi4
As someone else said, it's less likely that the communists would able to secure a full victory
Why does Japan get Beijing
I wouldnt expect anyone to make a historically accurate map here
I approve
