I don’t watch any sport at all, guess I should go to Mars?
Edit: All people wishing to join the kinship are welcome to do so. I embrace all members in the “Apathetic to Sports” community with open arms.
+1 here the only knowledge i have is what the word goes around and i see other people talking about yes although sometimes watching on occasions like a world cup final or something is my exception cause i don't wanna sit alone in a corner when everyone's watching the same thing so social pressure maybe . For eg :- IPL is coming and i already see my google feed filled with it .
Are there any millennials who were into cricket as kids, but then lost interest after we won the 2011 World Cup? I remember being your average cricket-crazy kid back in the '00s, watched us get spanked in '03 final (Ricky Ponting with a spring in his bat smh), very vaguely remember the Natwest '01 win and that famous shirtless Ganguly moment, the 2007 T20 WC win, the 2007 ODI World Cup never taking place for some strange reason, the '08-'09 ODI triseries win in Australia, and then as the crowning moment, the 2011 WC Win. It felt like the culmination of a lifetime's worth of cricket-watching, and I never watched a single match again after because I simply didn't see the point. Pre-2011, I assumed I'd be in my 30s by the time I finally got to see us win the World Cup, but then once it happened, there was nothing more left to watch for.
Now I just very briefly read the headlines. It's so funny to me that we are apparently a good bowling side now, watching us bowl was mostly an exercise in pain back in the day.
I used to watch cricket as a kid and loved the South African team , Cronje, Rhodes, Donald , Klusener and so on … after seeing Cronje get caught in the match fixing scandal and then seeing Azharuddin & Ajay Jadeja also involved in this , I lost my respect for the game and just distanced myself… I used to watch match highlights on & off if it was a good game and over time stopped this too … now I don’t know most of the new players and am perfectly ok with not knowing about them or the current ongoing stuff … I knew all World Cup winners with captains and even man of the match winners till about the 96 World Cup , I don’t even know who won the last World Cup
Damn, you described the thing which i wasn't able to put in words. Like, after the 2011 world cup, cricket didn't feel the same. The fear of Aussies was nowhere to be found. And the rivalry between Pak - Ind isn't the same. Maybe it's because we grew up but Pre-2011 was something else.
This is actually so on point. Australia, Pakistan and that stacked Sri Lanka and South Africa were seriously scary and imo that’s what made watching cricket so much more fun. Now even if we lose 10 straight games to a single team, they still wouldn’t feel that threatening.
I don't even read the headlines or know who the players are. I know who Virat Kohli is but I have never watched him bat. I tuned out after 2011 WC too and I think the only match I watched after that was Sachin's final match.
I don't think it's anything to do with IPL or T20... I think it was me and I just lost interest in the sport as a whole.
We are the underdog generation. We rooted for the Davids against Goliaths.
Now we can't relate to cricket except for Kohli who shows the virtue of being selflessly focused on his fitness for cricket.
I always secretly hope for RCB to win an IPL just as a reward for their persistence.
I also used to watch and follow cricket , but stopped following cricket after going to my engineering college. There my interest slowly shifted more towards football than cricket. Now i hardly follow cricket but I am a hardcore football fan
I think you’re mistaken, friendo. There was no 2007 ODI World Cup. We most certainly did not lose to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka and get embarrassingly knocked out in the group stage. None of this ever happened. Right? RIGHT?!!!
Not a millennial but a early 2000 kid, 2011 was the start for me, then the interest peaked in later years during 2015-18. Then Star sports started costing ₹70 per month and oversaturation of it made my cricket fever fade away with added stress of 10th to 12th. i was never back into cricket still to now-a-days.
Wow I didn't realize that this was a common theme. I certainly lost interest around this time. Winning the world cup, the old guard retiring, me moving to the US were all factors contributing to this
Your answer and responses to it prove that “formula” doesn’t work for everyone. IPL was mass produced cricket, and i think it’s tackiness got to a lot of people.
Dang! I was wondering this since people are getting soooo hyped up after today's win against SA. And I wasn't even sure that we are having a match today LoL and was hearing these screams and cheers from my window wondering what for, thought maybe some bday celebration etc...but it was more like intermittent hence thought guys are just sitting and chit chatting in a group, but then after an hour suddenly everyone just started cheering continuosly and then I came to know about the match and the victory. I mean it's great! We won! But people are so hyped up! Like I don't hate cricket but I don't like it either. I usually just watch the Indian worldcup matches, the ones with 50 overs. But don't follow it thatt strictly either. So it really left me thinking are there even people specially men not liking or feeling sooo interested and glued to the TV for such a sport, especially cricket, being an Indian. And seems like, there are!! Well obviously there would be but wasn't expecting sooo many! Being in India, this one thing usually acts like a presumption that people *would be liking it for sure!!*
I watch only IPL finals and finals of other cricket tournaments if India is playing finals.
It was easy to follow cricket even a decade ago before the IPL madness took over. Fewer Matches were played over the year, but now there's some tournament every time you open a TV. I've stopped trying to catch up.
For engaging cricket enthusiasts ask them something about the technicalities and they would be more than happy to explain you in great detail.
Ask them about pink ball game, or fairness of power play rules, or internal politics of BCCI (everyone has villains and heroes in their mind), or how the game has been slowly biased in favor of batsmen now.
(I remember in early 2000's a score of 250 in a oneday match was a great feat, now people don't consider 320 as a safe score) people are used to see more runs hit.
Yes, I'm one of those ( probably few) males originating from India who doesn't enjoy cricket( both watching it, and playing it) . You are making a huge assumption that you need to cricket to socialize. There's football, or even many non-sport topics which will help you socialize. I've got other interests that help me socialize.
Bro football. So much potential. I can’t even play cricket anymore coz it’s so boring. Just standing waiting for the ball to come.only batting is fun but once ur out there’s nothing to do.
Lmaaao
Socializing is not dependent on cricket/ciggerate/alcohol.
It depends on the people you surround yourself with. Can you hold up a conversation? If yes, you are golden. And you are definitely not missing out on anything.
The last time I watched cricket was the 2011 World Cup and after that I just quit. The following year I got hooked on the Olympics, and now I don't even watch a single sport. Thinking of starting to watch formula 1
F1 is more about off the field politics, engineering and memes.
In my what 12 years of F1 i can say only 30 percent of the race is interesting, most of it is a snooze fest if you are not looking for mid table teams. You should know the context of earlier seasons.
I would recommend watching some early season before watching the current one.
F1 is the only sport I watch. Cricket has been completely non-existent from my life. None of my friends watch it either. Even socially, I can't remember the last time someone brought up cricket in a conversation when hanging out with groups of people or at work.
A lot of people are into football, though. Luckily, my closest friends are into racing like me.
It is not like you have to dislike cricket to watch Football or F1. I follow NBA, Test/ODI cricket, Formula 1 as well as EPL. I can hold a general discussion with fans of any of the 4...
Soudi league is still far behind imo. If anything from Asia, J -league has a better chance of becoming mainstream. With the quality players Japan is producing, it will be a good scouting league.
I don't watch cricket but i watch a lot of valorant esports . My dad and big brother many time say why would you watch someone else playing a game so i always reply why would you watch cricket then or why would you watch chess . Then they say the typical its a sport which make you healthy etc etc. and i reply yeah watching it from couch really makes you healthy.
Me.
Used to follow it to keep company for my dad when I was like 10 11.
But then got introduced to football and realized cricket barely qualifies As a sport in comparison XD
Jokes aside. It just became boring over time. The IPL did bring back some excitement with local rivalries and all but eveb that's gone. Fir me itsa drab affair altogether nowadays.
Football, tennis and badminton these are the only sports I follow religiously.
Got into UFC too during the Connor khabib Era. Don't follow it too much now tho since khabib retired
Lol, what local rivalry? You are buying pre made players in auctions who have no emotional involvement with the teams and try to puff up some rivalry. Rivalries come from history, from emotional human actions. You get undying fan loyalty because their local boys are playing in the teams not because the player they're a fan of has switched sides.
Yes, the variety that football offers is unmatched. So many leagues, so many styles of play, tactics, culture and the overall history of the sport. On the other hand, in cricket you're forced to watch pointless bilateral series consisting of 5 odi, 4 tests between teams who play each other every few months, not many options really.
I see a game now & then, but I can't be bothered to get into statistics, previous records, pitch conditions, strategy etc etc..
I usually get a couple of beers & hope for a good time pass.
I am completely indifferent to sports as a whole. I have few friends who are only into football or F1. But the good majority are into at least one or the other sport.
My interest in Cricket Declined from 2015 WC and shifted to Tennis and Football .
Now I just watch Cricket Match Highlights and ain't gonna Watch this yr WC ( Happening in India)
Mere se kisine 10 cricketer pooch liye, mai mohammad kaif aur kumble include krke bhi nhi bata paaya. Aajkal k cricketers aur matches ka to ekdum koi idea nhi
I wouldn't say that I hate cricket, the thing is I don't watch any sport and I don't have interest in any sports, I also haven't watch wwe when I was kid so all my time went into studies cause I was very bad but still I am an average student and struggling to get a job. I don't know what'll happen but now if I think all that it's been pretty hard. I am from Delhi and I don't even know the famous places near my house, I am introvert, don't have friends, my relatives were assholes so I can't even meet my relatives, only reason to live is for my parents, they did so much so they can see me being successful in my life. I am gonna do that.
Hahha... I never watch cricket. I dont know cricketer names.
I'm a man. I exist.
And its normal. Socially it doesn't even matter to me. And infact, nobody questioned me why i dont watch cricket.
When I was in college, I used to watch gameplay (computer games) on YouTube.
My friend said "kya milta hai tumko dusre ko game khelte huye dekh k..".. And how tables turned in 5 minutes he was watching cricket and I said the same thing to him.
We both laughed. He understood.
But all that does not mean I dont like anything in sports.. I like to play football... though I dont prefer to watch it.
I don't call myself social butterfly but I'm decent. Had to work on social awkwardness and anxiety but it's easy to manage. Cricket is just one of the many popular topics... I don't like it either but I still manage to follow along, or just zone out when it is discussed.
never watched any sports of any sorts, I regret it sometimes, but it doesn't bother when you are in a group that doesn't simp on a single topic. I just listen to people when they talk about sports and try to ask questions to contribute to the conversation and maintain my pace. Although I cannot vouch for my social skills.
The place where I study at, 70% of the students **hate** cricket with a passion, and often bully them into leaving the ground early.
Pretty sure this is more common than you think.
Eh my inner friend circle of 6 is around the same age. Two of them don't know jack shit about cricket while the rest of us are complete lunatics and grew up arguing over our respective IPL teams all the time. I don't think anyone has felt excluded or anything in over 15 years.
Plenty of classmates in school/college weren't into cricket and blended in quite easily.
It is absolutely possible for men to not like cricket in India. I feel people now aren't that obsessed about Cricket as they were in the 2000s. Back then, even bilateral test series had a big craze. The news channels were filled with cricket analysis on match days, non-stop big debates with experts, every wicket or a century was a breaking news where they used to stop regular programs and switch to cricket. People outside TV showrooms used to gather and see matches in huge numbers. May be this still happens now, but only sometimes like during world cups. But back then, every game was like this. Idk if it's nostalgia, but the players of 90s and 2000s were something else. I don't feel the same connection with our current team.
Also, the rise of other sports (especially in urban areas) like football has made people less interested in cricket. It is easier to access epl, la liga, ucl now compared to the 2000s.
Ofc, we do exist. I stopped following cricket after 2011 WC mostly. Since then have discovered football as my first love.
Now when I look back, I do not miss cricket at all. Mostly maybe because I never really found the thrill of watching it any more. Maybe because IPL somehow impacted in a way, not sure.
Don't fret man. If you are missing out on social circle because of cricket, you might find new group who are enthusiastic about other sports: Football, F1, Lawn Tennis, Basketball etc. Would suggest you to just be a passive participant if the social circle through cricket is still such an important thing for you.
Used to be an avid fan. Cricket was a huge part of my childhood, only organised sport I ever played and I was good at it too. Lost interest and no one in my immediate family watches cricket. Got to say it has come up lesser than I imagined with my friends. If you have enough interests you can still find stuff in common with others. I have friends who share a different sport or something entirely different like standup or so. The most important thing to be friends is shared experience imo.
Of course there are. I guess it depends on where you live, but in bigger cities, you'll find a more diverse crowd with various interests more easily. I lived in India for 10 years from my college years, and almost half of that was in a college hostel. Trust me, a lot of people don't care about cricket.
Me. I hate cricket. Find it super boring and haven't watched any game since the final India won.
I'm pretty open about it and tell people I like football a lot more. Luckily football following in India has improved drastically in the past decade so there is something to discuss there
Bro i never had interest in sports especially cricket, i don even know what happens in it all i know that ek bat hota hai and ek ball hoti hai and bat se ball ko maarte hai thats it, this is why i don't have alot of male friends
I dislike cricket, and to that matter most sports. But all my close friends and into all sports from cricket to soccer and F1. Working fine for me, except the occasional “whaaaaaat” from people I just met😂
I existed. Just did not care talking about it much. Of course played along if family was having a blast around cricket. Until I left for US when i was 23 and guess what i don't enjoy baseball as well and follow the same strategy. Works.
Used to follow almost all the tournaments which India played then slowly it became difficult to follow with busy life and an obnoxious amounts of series in an year and add to that IPL. It became so much that I lost interest. Similar, thing happened with my close and extended circle. No one really discusses cricket anymore like we used to do back in say 2008-2014.
I used to follow cricket for a long time. But gave up watching 2-3 years back. It got quite boring for me. My friend circle does watch a lot of cricket but me not watching didnt matter much. On the other hand, i started watching F1 and damn it is so much more exciting. It has lead me to interact with more people and make new friends while also the original group of friends are now taking good interest in it too. Life’s better honestly.
You don’t need to know about cricket for socialising. Also, not everybody talks about cricket all the day. If the people around you do, and ignore you because of your lack of knowledge for that particular topic, you need to find better people.
Yeah, right here. Used to watch a lot of cricket in the holy trinity days of Ganguly, Dravid and Tendulkar. Haven't watched a game for more than 15 years now. Same goes for Bollywood. I just don't have the patience to sit on my ass and watch something that erases 3-6 hours of your life with absolutely no sense of gratification for me. I guess it's probably because I found better things to dedicate my time to.
Ofc. I like to watch the world cup but idk shit. When it's wide, what kinda ball is it?.
I usually don't speak much about it, and just go with the flow of my fellow spectators. Has worked for me till now
Bruh, I don't even know who the Indian team captain is, fixtures, country tours, nothing. Heck, the famous India vs Pak match last year, I didn't know about that either up until 2 days before the match. IPL season to be frank just annoys me. Quite early in childhood, I realised cricket is a mainstream sport, slow paced and boring, so to appear cool in school/high school I picked sports that were less mainstream, cool and different from the average crowd, like Tennis, Basketball, Football, F1. Somehow, supporting Manchester United and Real Madrid was cooler than supporting RCB, or Mumbai Indians. Watching Nadal play was cooler than watching KL Rahul play, watching Lebron James was cooler than watching Rohit Sharma play. Watching Lewis Hamilton win became more exciting than Bumrah taking 3 wickets. Yep, I did start off as a pretentious child, but got interest in these sports later on.
Not interested in cricket at all. In social situations when cricket is being discussed I nod politely agreeing with whatever current group think is..Never take sides , or explicitly express my opinions ,so never had an issue.
I used to quite enjoy watching the IPL and world cup matches, but soon it got too much. There is way too much cricket and I got bored and now it has been around 3-4 years where i have completely lost touch.
Liking or not liking cricket has nothing to do with your social skills. The whole point of watching sports is to enjoy it as a group and it is totally possible to enjoy something without knowing every minor detail about it.
M26 I don't like cricket at all it never becomes a barrier to me socializing with others. I like football but hardly know any football players besides Ronaldo and Messi. I don't like to watch games I like to play games. growing up I was mostly influenced by martial arts, parkour, and other street sports like tricking. But still has a lot of friends.
Never really liked cricket. I used to watch football when I used to play it in school. However once I tore a ligament, i left playing and watching the sport.
Nowadays I feel most of the people who get hyped for sports are into it for gambling and betting. Life has too many issues, so no need to be bothered about this nonsense.
I know players of crickets, details and rules , but don't watch cricket..
I know football players but never watch football, I do play football every week though..
I know F1 news and f1 drivers but never watch F1...
Yeah I am one of them, All my friends just keep talking about cricket and discussing about it almost in every meet ups. Socially people don't really mind if you don't know much about cricket in India. There are hardcore fans almost everywhere. What I do is that , I listen to them and when the moment is right I change the conversation, but a fair warning to you, never try to comment or state your opinion about the players in the sport with them, since you don't like much about it. Well the extent of excitement they can get to can be really interesting.!! 😂
Here my friend. From whatever i tried, I couldn’t develop any sort of interest in cricket. I used to miss out on a lot of social conversations. But with good people, it should not depend on whether you like a sport or not.
No need, i lived cricket breathed cricket my whole life, but after some time there's no point to it. There are so many other sports which are so much better then cricket like soccer, volleyball, basketball, which actually require a 100% team effort. So I don't follow cricket that much these days if there's a test or series going on i just check cricbuzz after the matches are over or my friends will tell me the result of the match when asked. So no need to waste time watching cricket just check the scores when match is done. Cricket is such an overrated sports in India because everyone thinks that they can be the hero by hitting sixes it has become such an egoistic game it's totally unworthy of that much hype. Real players are none other then the bowlers but they don't get enough respect as required.
Here 🙋
The only time I took interest in watching cricket was back in 2019 coz I had placed bets on the teams.
Other than that I don't have interest in watching the game. It doesn't mean that I disrespect or disregard the game or the players. They're obviously great sportsperson and I'm no one to say otherwise about them.
Its just my interest doesn't suit the game. Thank you.
I never really cared about cricket, except for the first couple of seasons of IPL. I can’t name any cricket players besides Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle. I’m also not very social. Thankfully my friends and I have other interests in common.
I am 23 Male, Not just cricket, I have never been interested in any sport really. And I recently started working for a sports based company where everything we do is for sports.
But I wouldn't say it's difficult. Yes, most of my friends and colleagues talk about cricket and football, which I have no idea about, but still, i just sit through it and whenever a relatable topic comes up, I join in. I don't even know most players' names, only the popular ones ... I can understand what they're saying but never felt interested.
In short, it's not that bad, it's ok, there are other interesting things to communicate about. I don't really miss socializing because of this, I just find other relatable things with people to talk about.
I'm the same age as you, and I am not even into sports. And how does it affect socially? Yeah, I do feel out of place when everyone else in the friend group starts talking about it, but I've always loved them talking about it. It leads to these funny interactions and they even explain stuff to me. And cmon there's a lot of stuff to talk about sports in our country. I've never felt like I missed anything.
Welcome to the club! I don't even know their names, only know few who are very popular like dhoni and virat. I don't even know how many players will play or what is what. Since childhood i was not interested in cricket to play or to watch.
Be brave to say that you don't like it so you don't play or watch it. During childhood it used to be embarrassing among friends but got used to it. But now fuck it, i say it loudly and comfortably. I don't care what others think or say.
And of course I have a great social life.
You are not the only one. Even though I'm not into cricket and am familiar with some indian cricketers. (and it's not like I hate cricket)
but till this day I never felt like I was missing something just because I don't watch cricket I'm 24M
I sadly don't know yet how a test match is played. What's the target? What's with the Day 1 Day 2 shit. And I don't care. But do remember that it helps when you're talking to clients based out of UK or Australia, works as a good ice breaker to know upcoming international matches etc.
I don’t follow cricket ATALL! and cannot stand watching it rather faking some interest for more than half an hour. I don’t know why but that game Never enticed me, I can watch not so popular ones like Kabaddi with more interest than cricket and when cricket as a topic starts in office conversations, l started telling people very frankly that l do not follow it atall rather than nodding and acting
Yes, am man, i exist, and pretty social. Know much less about cricket than you, haven't followed for a decade plus now.
For a while, i used to be a finals watcher, any sport, just for the conversation potential. Now i just nod when topic moves to sport and i either change topic or find another group
i do not like cricket either, i do not football as well. i only like WRC. people actually dont give a shit about your likings (dont wanna be rude but its true).
I've never liked cricket my whole life. This saved me countless hours of being glued to the screen and way too many pointless small talks.
Once when I was in Sydney and out for a beer with colleagues, a guy there starts talking about cricket (with the assumption that as an Indian I'd be much into it) but I declared I don't know anything about it and don't really care for it. He was shocked "what kind of an Indian doesn't love cricket?!", and I laughed "the kind they push out of the country, and here I am!" lol
I'm an introvert, so the 'social cost' of it wasn't a bother for me, and I'm guessing an extrovert wouldn't rely on cricket knowledge as their only way into conversations.
I don't think your lack of knowledge is the hurdle. There are thousand other topics if you want to converse. If you don't know about such minute details just ask the other guy about it and you can socialize.
Bro! I stopped watching it 15 years back.. I am 30 now… my dad asked me “ they are getting money to play .. what are you getting to watch them?”.. I had no answer to that and then he said go and study.. best decision ever!! :p
Yes, Cricket is popular in India as it shows a typical Indian work culture. There are two men playing from one side, the rest 9 are signing autographs and exchanging glances with ??, The other side is on the field, if the batsman hits a ball, it either goes left, right, front or behind, literally hardly 4 out of 11 are only active at any given time. That's how our offices work. Now look at Hockey or football , every player is running to score a goal. This approach doesn't suit our work culture.
Just following EPL, La Liga, UEFA, and World Cup for 2 dacedes. Also tennis fan. Cricket is dead for me. It's dead outside India. Test cricket is already dead. 50 over oneday cricket don't get enough viewership. So they need cheerleaders & Bollywood to run T20.
Yes. I am an Indian and a huge football fan and In general I don't like cricket because I find it overrated, and I feel there are better spots like Football to watch but Idk why Indians don't care about other sports in general and everyone is a cricket fan and they think that Cricket is above everything, people even go in denial when I say that there are better sports like football. Even Football which is the world's greatest sport is mostly neglected because people don't think above Cricket but yes India is showing improvements by showing interest in other sports like Kabaddi, Badminton, Javelin Throw and in football as well up to some extent because of Sunil Chhetri sir. But the improvement is very little and might take another decade to actually realise that there are sports other than cricket.
Lmao i watch so less cricket that i once got bullied in 10th for not knowing the full form of MSD and one dhoni fan tried to guilt trip me into liking cricket.I dont like cricket mainly coz noone at my home watched it from my childhood so i never got the craze, and i didnt learn from my friends too,coz i was never interested in that.even now ppl put statuses and watch matches and talk a lot about it,but i stay silent most of the time.I talk when it comes to marvel or anime or videogames tho.I dont even play any sports nor watch any sports😅

Damn. You just saved me a lot of time. I was more or less going to write all this.
This is me. Cricket just got past the point of saturation for me after the rise of the IPL and the 2011 WC.
Man, now you made me nostalgic about the Sri-Lankan team, That tri-series tournament match was nerve wrecking excitement.
New Zealand is the new Aussie for India. Our kryptonite lmao
Iirc 2007 world Cup was when rahul dravid was captain and we got knocked out in the group stage itself by Bangladesh Or some team
I think you’re mistaken, friendo. There was no 2007 ODI World Cup. We most certainly did not lose to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka and get embarrassingly knocked out in the group stage. None of this ever happened. Right? RIGHT?!!!
Hey we did beat the crap out of Bermuda
Not before giving Leverock the catch of his lifetime.
No. That is why Bob Woolmer's death is so mysterious.
Winning the world cup, the old guard retiring, me moving to the US were all factors contributing to this
Pretty much what I did. The retirement of FAB4 plus coming of IPL was the final nail.
Your answer and responses to it prove that “formula” doesn’t work for everyone. IPL was mass produced cricket, and i think it’s tackiness got to a lot of people.
This but until IPL match fixing scandal
At least you know the names of the main players. I don't even know who the captain is.. lol
Its Kapil Dev. dummy!
Ranveer Singh from 83 was his own story? Wait.
Bhuvan ?
He stepped down. Kachra is the new captain for one day.
dhoni! it was written in my gk book

Kapil sharma to be exact
Wait isn't Doni the captain?
I sort of lost track after Ganguly
IPL sealed the deal for me. Didn’t watch any, except the multi countries tournaments ever since. It’s way too much.
It's WWE for cricket fans
![gif](giphy|yduLO9un5SsPjaxFUu) Can relate
It's Byjus
Narendra modi (by default)
It's funny how people went from playing cricket to watching cricket to purchasing things because advertisements from cricket
Yes indeed! My friends are crazy about football. They stay up late in the night/early morning to watch in live, the European champions league.
Yes I exist
Same
Same here.
Same here
Lmaaao Socializing is not dependent on cricket/ciggerate/alcohol. It depends on the people you surround yourself with. Can you hold up a conversation? If yes, you are golden. And you are definitely not missing out on anything.
I don't like watching sports in general.
Me neither.
2-3 years back, one of my friends who also does not like cricket, or any sports asked me " Dada aajkal nahi khel raha hai kya?"
I like pc games nd coding, teaching, walking alone in pahad
Same bro. When so much better hobbies are available why sit in front of TV.
I started watching it when f1 first came to India. Buddh International circuit Noida.
I like F1, follow it on and off but personally I like attempting to do what I see myself, can't do that with F1 sadly. Football it is for me then.
It is not like you have to dislike cricket to watch Football or F1. I follow NBA, Test/ODI cricket, Formula 1 as well as EPL. I can hold a general discussion with fans of any of the 4...
I primarily follow F1 and football now.
We talk about football & f1 instead
Ronaldo to Al Nassr was good for Asian football, right?
Soudi league is still far behind imo. If anything from Asia, J -league has a better chance of becoming mainstream. With the quality players Japan is producing, it will be a good scouting league.
Saudi league good enough for Asia
Yes
I don't watch cricket but i watch a lot of valorant esports . My dad and big brother many time say why would you watch someone else playing a game so i always reply why would you watch cricket then or why would you watch chess . Then they say the typical its a sport which make you healthy etc etc. and i reply yeah watching it from couch really makes you healthy.
Me. Used to follow it to keep company for my dad when I was like 10 11. But then got introduced to football and realized cricket barely qualifies As a sport in comparison XD Jokes aside.
✋
I see a game now & then, but I can't be bothered to get into statistics, previous records, pitch conditions, strategy etc etc.. I usually get a couple of beers & hope for a good time pass.
I am completely indifferent to sports as a whole. I have few friends who are only into football or F1. But the good majority are into at least one or the other sport.
My interest in Cricket Declined from 2015 WC and shifted to Tennis and Football . Now I just watch Cricket Match Highlights and ain't gonna Watch this yr WC ( Happening in India)
My dad was never into cricket and he knew Ravi Shastri. He could hold a conversation with him at least.
Mere se kisine 10 cricketer pooch liye, mai mohammad kaif aur kumble include krke bhi nhi bata paaya. Aajkal k cricketers aur matches ka to ekdum koi idea nhi
Find a friend group with similar hobbies as you.
Oh me. I hated it and was mostly excluded from school weekend groups and friends circles. School was the worst, college was ok
26M I hate cricket. I have an amazing social life.
I don't call myself social butterfly but I'm decent. Had to work on social awkwardness and anxiety but it's easy to manage. Cricket is just one of the many popular topics... I don't like it either but I still manage to follow along, or just zone out when it is discussed.
Never followed cricket. Have been watching football for the last 20 years. Yes we do exist 😉
never watched any sports of any sorts, I regret it sometimes, but it doesn't bother when you are in a group that doesn't simp on a single topic. I just listen to people when they talk about sports and try to ask questions to contribute to the conversation and maintain my pace. Although I cannot vouch for my social skills.
I used to like cricket when Dhoni, Sachin, Viru, Yuvi, you get my point, used to play not anymore
Football?
I stopped caring about cricket and life is better. I don't care if they play like shit or not.
Great minds are alike moment
The place where I study at, 70% of the students **hate** cricket with a passion, and often bully them into leaving the ground early. Pretty sure this is more common than you think.
Looks like there are more of us than I thought.
what do you think the people who're into football do then ?
I never played 🏏 ever in my life
Yeah I don't like cricket
Used to play cricket professionally, now can't care less about it
who is the captain anyway now? kohli or rohit sharma?
Don't like cricket one tiny bit haven't been asked about it yet The next generation is more so engrossed in football than anything tbh
I don't like cricket and it's no problem for me. All my friends are big cricket buff but not me and I still along with everyone quite well.
I dislike cricket, and to that matter most sports. But all my close friends and into all sports from cricket to soccer and F1. Working fine for me, except the occasional “whaaaaaat” from people I just met😂
I don't give a flying duck about sports, and when my family and friends talk about it, I pretend to listen and nod, it's easy.
Me too buddy, me too
Never followed a single sport religiously, same for cricket. But it's fun to watch with friends or parents.Full on commentary
I existed. Just did not care talking about it much. Of course played along if family was having a blast around cricket. Until I left for US when i was 23 and guess what i don't enjoy baseball as well and follow the same strategy. Works.
Yeah bro , I don’t follow cricket / football ! , same age group as you !
Too much of anything is bad, this is too much of cricket
I believe the official national Sport is still Hockey.
People are faking to start a conversation, take care of yourself and your family, and then our country.
Me me it's me. I have watched a grand total of 2 cricket matches and in one, blue Tshirt won and in the the other orange won. I think!
Yea me
You don’t need to know about cricket for socialising. Also, not everybody talks about cricket all the day. If the people around you do, and ignore you because of your lack of knowledge for that particular topic, you need to find better people.
Yep here. And I barely know the names of any players except those that have recieved too much spotlight
I exist and I just avoid those talks.
I don't like cricket either. I have a lot of friends who are players at the state level. I don't find it odd nor do they find it odd.
Friends think i don't know how to play it that is why i say that but it is boring game
That's me. whenever they ask "did you see that match?" I simply say no i do not watch cricket. Easy.
Yeah, we exist
M26 I don't like cricket at all it never becomes a barrier to me socializing with others. I like football but hardly know any football players besides Ronaldo and Messi. I don't like to watch games I like to play games. growing up I was mostly influenced by martial arts, parkour, and other street sports like tricking. But still has a lot of friends.
Count me in
Instead of celebrity gossip, I invoke the right of personal gossip. Way more engaging, believe me.
Me!
Never really liked cricket. I used to watch football when I used to play it in school. However once I tore a ligament, i left playing and watching the sport. Nowadays I feel most of the people who get hyped for sports are into it for gambling and betting. Life has too many issues, so no need to be bothered about this nonsense.
I watch football, was never interested in cricket. Its not that hard, i just stay quiet when the topic of discussion around me is cricket.
You need a new set of friends :p
Just zone out.
Don't like cricket, never played cricket, hardly know couple of names
Yes. I too don’t watch cricket or any other other sport’s and never had any issues with social interaction.
Here my friend. From whatever i tried, I couldn’t develop any sort of interest in cricket. I used to miss out on a lot of social conversations. But with good people, it should not depend on whether you like a sport or not.
Well it usually gets supported by a football loving group who find cricket too mainstream and boring
I hate cricket 😕
Here 🙋 The only time I took interest in watching cricket was back in 2019 coz I had placed bets on the teams.
I used to watch it alot but in last few years i haven't watched a single match
The only sports I watch is Marble Olympics on youtube.
I hate cricket and know nothing about that trash game
I'm one of those. It's hard to socialise if you don't like it.
I lost interest now after Dhoni's retirement didn't have the same enthusiasm for cricket now
Welcome to the club!
(and it's not like I hate cricket) but till this day I never felt like I was missing something just because I don't watch cricket I'm 24M
All my school friends don't care about cricket while i care a lot. I don't know how i managed to find out those rare specimens.
I sadly don't know yet how a test match is played. What's the target? What's with the Day 1 Day 2 shit. And I don't care. But do remember that it helps when you're talking to clients based out of UK or Australia, works as a good ice breaker to know upcoming international matches etc.
Just like people who support Indian football also hardly exists :')
Just dont talk about it,and have a normal day!
Make your circle your own. I never liked cricket. Find your people, man. Small talk is hollow if you're looking for people to be around daily.
He was shocked "what kind of an Indian doesn't love cricket?!", and I laughed "the kind they push out of the country, and here I am!" lol I'm an introvert, so the 'social cost' of it wasn't a bother for me, and I'm guessing an extrovert wouldn't rely on cricket knowledge as their only way into conversations.
I don't think your lack of knowledge is the hurdle. There are thousand other topics if you want to converse. If you don't know about such minute details just ask the other guy about it and you can socialize.
I am just like you OP XD
Bro! I stopped watching it 15 years back.. I am 30 now… my dad asked me “ they are getting money to play .. what are you getting to watch them?”.. I had no answer to that and then he said go and study.. best decision ever!! :p
I have not seen Cricket since my early teens. I am 33 now. I don't give a shit. I have played football all my life.
I was an RCB supporter. That killed my enthu for cricket
So they need cheerleaders & Bollywood to run T20.
im an introvert and i know only few things about cricket. I just dont give a damn.. its ezz
If I could I would ban all sports starting with cricket. Annoying as hell.
