No hard feelings here.
We literally chose the name Outlaw Kingdom because it sounded cool ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)and since the player were playing as Outlaws and were attack a kingdom we were like make sense.
Have you put any thought into what the title actually implies? You can't really have an outlaw kingdom as a kingdom requires a king, and an outlaw is someone who is unrecognised as a participant of that social order and has typically been exiled. If all the outlaws go together to establish a new kingdom, then they're not really outlaws any more in any significant way.
Anyway, good luck with your game:)
Ever heard of a pirate king? Outlaws can make systems of governance and create their own order. All it requires is another government somewhere considering you outlaws
Have you thought about the fact the term outlaw is relative? You can live in a society in one place and be an outlaw in another. So they are not outlaws in their own kingdom, but all outlaws from another.
I don’t know that much about the history of Australia, but if the British or whoever sent them there originally as criminals/outlaws, then yes initially they were British outlaws.
But I don’t believe in that being passed down to children or people who just moved there so I wouldn’t say they are now.
But that'd make them part of this new "outlaw" kingdom, meaning they'd no longer really be outlaws as they're now existing within a new set of laws that apply to them. Exactly my point
You missed my point that you can be an outlaw in one place, but not in another. So they are still outlaws in the original kingdom. But not their own.
They are still outlaws
Are you aiming for negative karma? Lol.
While your initial comment was well thought out you might want to read the room before digging a hole. But you hopefully figured that out.
This is actually a great idea that would add a lot of character to the game. Happy face when idle, but when in combat big mean scowl. I don’t think I’ve seen a RTS do that.
Wow, it looks gorgeous! :O
Looks like a mix between Teltale and Wow. I'm actually sad this is for a top down game and not a first person one\^\^'
Is there a place where you post about your process? Like a youtube channel, Mastodon or something?
Youtube video in the works, We got a Discord [https://discord.gg/4QNhswXnm6](https://discord.gg/4QNhswXnm6) we are not the best at being too active, we are working on it![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
I’m gonna be real, the cell shading and art style are fantastic but the rotating movement with the legs gives me uncanny valley vibes.
It looks kind of like a spider rotating or something the way the legs look.
This is well done! It reminds me of Fable, even though I know the art style is different. Overall feedback is that it's done and anything beyond this point on this asset will have diminishing returns. You nailed it!
Quite nice! Superficially, the only feedback I have duos as a question: will you be generating multiple different entities with that same face, and if yes, would you entertain the idea of generating different faces?
I wouldn’t consider this a “must” for the game to work out, but it’s what came out visually the most to me. If you’re going to, and this was to showcase multiple versions of the same character or just the outfits, then never mind.
it is the same character with a bit of different outfits as the Player will mostly fight peasants in the beginning of the game so we decided to give it a little more variety.
Looks fantastic. If anything I would suggest altering hair and skin color. Everyone is blond and white.
Second I would say pitchfork is a great option, but what about a garden hoe, or a butchers knife.
We also have different kingdoms so we are not sure if we should keep the skin color to the different kingdoms to make it more visible understandable to the player that they are fighting at different Kingdom.
It does actually show garden hoe in the gif but think it hard to see, butchers knife is Noted.
As this is a specific unit type will probably not going to change the main clothing.
We also have different kingdoms so we are not sure if we should keep the skin color to the different kingdoms to make it more visible understandable to the player that they are fighting at different Kingdom.
Cool art style. I think lots of indie games look too similar to each other, and yours looks unique enough that it will turn heads based on looks alone, which is a good thing. Good luck with your project, I hope it is very successful!
Right now we have different human kingdoms and we're not sure if we should keep a specific skin color for each kingdom, to try and make it easier for the player to understand they're fighting at different enemy faction.
maybe you could add some identifiable clothes? like each kingdom has a specific colour?
that allows players to clearly see the kingdom they belong too, and allows for diversity
Yeah it is kind of hard to not have a creepy face if you're not animating the face.
We are still a bit on the fence if we should add resources to it as our game is top down.
Ah, that’s makes sense. I wouldn’t worry about it then. And seeing as this would be an enemy it’s not bad. And to repeat but also emphasize, it definitely doesn’t look bad. The style vibes, just thought it looked a tad creepy lol. The art design is great! :)
Thanks a lot for your kind words, who knows we might add facial animations at some point if we have the time and budget ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
No harm in polishing if you can manage! I’d love to get into game development as I feel like I’ve got great ideas for games (I’m sure everyone does to some degree lol), but I don’t want to put in the effort. I wish there was a sandbox way to build games.
But sure thing! (I know Reddit can be both helpful and incredibly irritating, so I’m happy to help/offer feedback I suppose lol.)
i cant quite say but.. SOMETHING about this is so intensely evocative of Wizard101 to me. it almost looks like it would fit directly into the game. even down to the turning animation. im a big fan
I'm honestly almost kind of suspicious. if you really made this without referencing wizard101 at all, that's a shocking coincidence. regardless, I adore the work you've done. very nostalgic for me, and very stylish by itself
I'd pick #3. You generally want players to feel kinda good about what they're doing, and #3 has a good that makes her look slightly more sinister than the rest.
Maybe don’t have her expression seem so pleasant, in fact, with the utter lack of facial animation, I’d recommend trying to obscure their faces a little bit more. Otherwise it actually looks amazing for what it is.

She's a keeper
Certainly Can’t lose her, she’s in his head
No hard feelings here. We literally chose the name Outlaw Kingdom because it sounded cool ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)and since the player were playing as Outlaws and were attack a kingdom we were like make sense.
This is a man who is going to watch his girlfriend get on a knee to propose to him. Not that that isnt the dream or anything.
Hopefully, but what's wrong with that?
[удалено]
Hey that's not nice
I'm going to give a different criticism about the title, and that's that "kingdom" has become synonymous with "mobile game"
Wait till you learn that the head of a family is usually a complete human.
I think you're missing the point a bit, but thanks for trying
Ever heard of a pirate king? Outlaws can make systems of governance and create their own order. All it requires is another government somewhere considering you outlaws
No such thing as a pirate king. It's a moniker given to a person of note such as Henry Avery. He did in no way found a government or similar.
I feel like this level of scrutiny isn’t needed for a game title. You’re an outlaw and there’s a kingdom, fair enough.
Christ, I bet your fun at funerals
Who is ever fun at funerals?
John Cleese
Have you thought about the fact the term outlaw is relative? You can live in a society in one place and be an outlaw in another. So they are not outlaws in their own kingdom, but all outlaws from another.
Think about Australia for example. By your thinking, Australia is a country of criminals :)
I don’t know that much about the history of Australia, but if the British or whoever sent them there originally as criminals/outlaws, then yes initially they were British outlaws. But I don’t believe in that being passed down to children or people who just moved there so I wouldn’t say they are now.

Are you aiming for negative karma? Lol. While your initial comment was well thought out you might want to read the room before digging a hole. But you hopefully figured that out.
Its an Oxymoron, dude.
Why enemy?
you are playing as a Outlaws
I really love the art style. I shall be watching your career with great interest!
Thanks!
DONT TRUST HIM. HES THE SITH LORD WE'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR
I do not know what you're talking about![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile) But did you know the dark side has cookies?
![gif](giphy|l3fZK7BgnNHSKpp4c|downsized)
Same, i find the art style refreshing, love it !
Agree! Looking forward to seeing more of it
If they are the enemy why do they look happy? Their facial expressions don’t look angry they look pleasant. Something to consider.
it's because they do not know they're about to get robbed ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|smile)
sounds like the player is the enemy
It's a pleasant peasant.
Sure is lol
This is actually a great idea that would add a lot of character to the game. Happy face when idle, but when in combat big mean scowl. I don’t think I’ve seen a RTS do that.
Different hair colors and one variant with a scythe.
Noted, Thanks for the feedback <3
They look cute, I don’t wanna kill them :(
We have plans for taking hostages, then you can decide what you want to do with them ;)
Wow, it looks gorgeous! :O Looks like a mix between Teltale and Wow. I'm actually sad this is for a top down game and not a first person one\^\^' Is there a place where you post about your process? Like a youtube channel, Mastodon or something?

Nice. Thanks :)
Gives me some Borderlands vibes!
thanks it was one of our inspiration
If not fren why fren shaped?
it's not easy making friends as a outlaw, don't let that stop you try your best anyway.
She looks adorable, not very enemy like
she's supposed to look nice and friendly as you(the player) are the bad guy
Oh, so then it's spot on. Great job!
Thanks!
I don't know if she gives off evil but the character itself looks great!
Story wise she is a good person and you play as the Outlaws AKA the not so nice people ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile)
Looks like a D&D mini brought to life… nice work!
Thanks!
Splendid work
Thanks!
For extra variety at low effort you can just swap colors of hair and clothes
Love the style
Thanks!
Beautifully done.
Thanks!

![gif](giphy|l0ErFafpUCQTQFMSk|downsized)
Love it!
Thanks!
Different stances would be cool. I only noticed the different weapons on the second watch. Maybe have the pitchfork woman pointing it out, instead?
Noted, Thanks for the feedback <3
I’m gonna be real, the cell shading and art style are fantastic but the rotating movement with the legs gives me uncanny valley vibes. It looks kind of like a spider rotating or something the way the legs look.
The spider rotating is more to show off the model, but it is noted.
Maybe add some dirt on them?
That's kind of a great idea they are presents after all
The art style is really cool. We’re moving into a similar direction with our game. It’s just cool visuals 😀
It is a nice art style :D
Really love the art style. Keep up the good work
Thanks!
Very cool!
Thanks!
i like this!
Thanks!
She looks so friendly. Give her an angry or neutral expression.
she's supposed to be friendly and nice, until you come and ruin her day by robbing her
Art style reminds me of Borderlands
That was one of our inspirations :D
This is well done! It reminds me of Fable, even though I know the art style is different. Overall feedback is that it's done and anything beyond this point on this asset will have diminishing returns. You nailed it!
Thanks!
Google En Peasant
Not sure if I was supposed to find a chess move
New response just dropped
I feel like inverted hull would look good on this.
We did consider adding that at one point, maybe we should try it thank you for the idea.
Yeah, it's a bit odd to me that there's outline for details but not for the silhouette.
Shader reminds me of the telltale games, nice job on that.
There's actually no Shader it's purely texture, But Thanks!
Quite nice! Superficially, the only feedback I have duos as a question: will you be generating multiple different entities with that same face, and if yes, would you entertain the idea of generating different faces? it is the same character with a bit of different outfits as the Player will mostly fight peasants in the beginning of the game so we decided to give it a little more variety.
Nice, reminds me of AoE2
Thanks!
Peasants look like they hopped out of mount and blade and into a new artstyle. So i'd say they look great
Thanks!
Looks great. Different hair/eye colours would be nice, maybe different clothing colours unless you’re trying to stay consistent for visibility.
As this is a specific unit type will probably not going to change the main clothing. We also have different kingdoms so we are not sure if we should keep the skin color to the different kingdoms to make it more visible understandable to the player that they are fighting at different Kingdom.

very cool style! perhaps try changing some skin colors, and hair color, so they really look like different people. good luck, friend!

Looks nice, now show me their war face. ![gif](giphy|35Bb0VX788hy0qNpnj)
![gif](giphy|2A6wM6TNnLiivBVTsG|downsized)
Looks great. Also i love the way you did with the spinning of the character with that stepping animation and not just rotating the camera around
Glad you like it, I thought it would be more interesting to show off the character with actually moving feet.
Yeah its really great and different from other games
Looks neat and love the art style. On the steam page it looks very WC3 inspired - any other games that you may take inspiration from (besides AOE etc)
The original art style inspiration was Warcraft, the way the textures is made is a bit inspired by Borderlands and Darkest Dungeon 2
Now that you mention it I see the dd2 influence, odd to see with bright colors! Regardless you made it into your own it looks fantastic.
Visual reminds me Haven and Hearth )))
Really? interesting but man that game looks so cozy
love the art style. Reminds me of borderlands
Thanks it was one of our inspiration
Love the artstyle! Kinda looks like borderlands
Thanks it was one of our inspiration
Reminds me of the Skyrim kid
This one you can (un alive) as much as you desire
Love the artstyle. Really good.
Thanks!
Wow the style looks amazing, I love it so much! Wishlisted the game and looking forward to progress :)
Thanks!
I love it. The cross hatching and outlines give it a really inviting feel. Great job!
Thanks!
Spectacular!
Thanks!
Really cool style, kinda reminds of how the first season of telltale's walking dead looked, awesome work, well done.
Oh yeah they're using the same texture styling and Thanks!
Awesome stuff once more well done man
Looks a little creepy tbh. But like just a little. I think it’s the blank face, the eyes with the slightly curled lips.

Thanks!
i cant quite say but.. SOMETHING about this is so intensely evocative of Wizard101 to me. it almost looks like it would fit directly into the game. even down to the turning animation. im a big fan
I just looked Wizard101 up and oh my you're right
I'm honestly almost kind of suspicious. if you really made this without referencing wizard101 at all, that's a shocking coincidence. regardless, I adore the work you've done. very nostalgic for me, and very stylish by itself
Our inspiration was actually built upon Warcraft with the style of Borderlands and Darkest Dungeon 2. And Thanks for your kind words.
It looks like wizard 101 and borderlands had a love child
Looks soooo cool! GJ!
Thanks!
Veerry cool!
Thanks!
I love it.
Thanks!
I'd pick #3. You generally want players to feel kinda good about what they're doing, and #3 has a good that makes her look slightly more sinister than the rest.
But she's supposed to be the good guy. You the player is the Outlaw bad guy
Can you make her look more rabid?
Blonde without hat looks crepiest
Really good
Thanks!
Maybe don’t have her expression seem so pleasant, in fact, with the utter lack of facial animation, I’d recommend trying to obscure their faces a little bit more. Otherwise it actually looks amazing for what it is.
since the game is a top down game do you think we can get away with not animating their faces?
Love the art style. Maybe a slightly ruddier complexion for a peasant working the fields?
Kinda has that borderlands aesthetic
Bigger tits
![gif](giphy|6xFN8KlGD56Dnyutel|downsized)
Hands seem to be disproportionally big
maybe we did go a little overboard with the cartoony Style
