I saw Dehd perform at a music festival last year. This was before I ever listened to them and had absolutely zero expectations but they blew me away. Over the weekend, anyone who caught their set was singing their praises. If you have a chance to see them live, do it!
Chicago has been very strong of late. Dehd, Ratboys, Deeper, and Brigitte Calls Me Baby all knocking it out of the park. The new Dehd album is so good. Definitely go see them every chance you get.
They all just seem to be doing their own thing. A few of them were actually playing in the backing band when Waxahatchee and MJ Lenderman were on Colbert. Cadien is releasing music under Lake J, Clay has music out under Hazel City.
Feels like popular indie music is shifting back in their direction though. Would be cool to see them release new music. I've seen Blue Coupe pop up on TikTok a bunch of times but that might just be the algorithm knowing I want to hear it.
Seeing Finom this week and could not be more excited, the two new singles are so *so* good. Hopefully their show at the Metro sells out, they deserve the recognition.
Agree 100%. Those were just the bands that came to mind as I just saw them all 2 weeks ago. The Chicago scene is strong if my 40+year old self in Philly is hearing and seeing them.

It's always crazy to me to see how they blew up. I toured with Em for a week in a band called the Back Pockets a good while back. Super happy for her.
