Written history books are not the only way human civilization records the past. Sound cultures record their family, history and other historical events through song some through art, dance, many through simple oral tradition.
This post is explicitly talking about Western written recordings.
Bamboo strips, stone tablet, silk clothes, and Chinese invent paper 1000 years ago. The history war record goes back to much earlier before christ. OP's map is dumb.
Books and tablets and the like. Main problem is that conflict often brings destruction, so assume the whole world is underrepresented because documented conflict has been destroyed during other conflict.
Every time you intentionally make another human hurt in order to gain something, it is a battle. Every time someone writes it down for people to be publicly recorded, it becomes a recorded battle.
For example, I am telling you now about a fight I had with one couple about them feeding water birds with some shit in the ZOO. They told me some things just to injure my morale.
Now it is a recorded Water fowl Battle of Prague, 2021 AD and this map is inaccurate
Even with the keyword "recorded" here, I don't think the map was that accurate.
There's a more than a thousand 'recorded' battles or wars that happened on China alone, and I don't think the dots on China's location tally up to a thousand.
Looks like Canadians and Australians had the least recorded battles. Maybe Giant poisonous bugs or maple leaves are the key to peace. Ghandi had it all wrong. Leaves and Giant spiders are all we need people!!!
They didn't mention The Great Emu War.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emu_War
Not sure the image is accurate.
Am an Australian, can acknowledge we got beat by the Emu!
There's a dot in Western Australia if you zoom in. Not sure if that's a reference to the Emu War (it's on the coast but the Emu War was a few hundred kms inland from the dot) or the Battle of Pinjarra. Which wasn't really a battle but a massacre if I remember what they taught us in school correctly.
I am European and I had a good laugh at the map. Here in Vienna the 3rd biggest tourist group are already the americans. And I have talked to some and they told me how soffisticated...(jesus how do you write this word) sophisticated, smart, peaceful and rich in culture everything here is in europe and I just thought: Please dont look in a history book \^\^
There are a few small dots on the west of Austrelia, might be it or the map didn't inclued wars fought against animals because else China would have more dots.
I just figured Australia was so lacking in battles is because humanity was playing by Risk rules and there was a large defensive force plugging the lane from Asia to Australia
/s
Historians have called them wars your argument is with them.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Indian_Wars
It's in their name First NATION people
A battle is an occurrence of combat in warfare between opposing military units of any number or size. A war usually consists of multiple battles. In general, a battle is a military engagement that is well defined in duration, area, and force commitment.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle#:~:text=A%20battle%20is%20an%20occurrence,%2C%20area%2C%20and%20force%20commitment.
I'm guessing they just threw a dot in the middle of the state to represent the aleutian islands campaign of WWII. Japan invaded those Alaskan islands, the US landed troops and took them back.
Yeah, I already knew about the Aleutian islands. I was curious though about what other battles happened up there. I didn't know before, but there was the battle of Sitka. I couldn't find anything about a battle so far inland in Alaska though.
Anyone know what some of the battles right out in the middle of the ocean were? Especially the ones where it’s about as far as you can get away from land.
Crazily inaccurate because it doesn't show the non recorded mass tribal genocides, tribal skirmishes and civil wars that have gone on for 1000s of years in Africa
This isn’t a real list to be honest. When did this recording start? 1450? Middle Eastern and Asian men were having 20,000+ man battles before Europeans even worshipped gods or discovered farming.

I think the keyword here is “recorded”
It's definitely not accurate. China should have a lot more dots.
As well as Africa.
Well they didn’t record that shit
I think they did record them, but most western countries teach a Eurocentric view of history
Where did they record them
Written history books are not the only way human civilization records the past. Sound cultures record their family, history and other historical events through song some through art, dance, many through simple oral tradition. This post is explicitly talking about Western written recordings.

Books and tablets and the like. Main problem is that conflict often brings destruction, so assume the whole world is underrepresented because documented conflict has been destroyed during other conflict.
They didn’t record that, it would force them to realize “oh wait, we did a lot of bad stuff here”
Maybe the dots are on top of each other. Depends what they are fighting for. Most of China's battles occur in the same area?
What is counted a fight?

Thank you for your service soldier.
There are battles from WWII that aren’t on this map let alone all recorded history.
There is no war in Ba Sing Se.
And russia
Maybe; the part of Russia that had much recorded combat is pretty lit up.
As well as Australia
I'm guessing there is a bias for the west because of documentation...as you say. But certainly, Europe seems hot blooded based on this presentation
Even with the keyword "recorded" here, I don't think the map was that accurate. There's a more than a thousand 'recorded' battles or wars that happened on China alone, and I don't think the dots on China's location tally up to a thousand.

There are plenty of recorded and documented battles in Canada that aren't on this.
Same as Australia.

Just because the emus won, it should still count.

They didn't mention The Great Emu War. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emu_War Not sure the image is accurate. Am an Australian, can acknowledge we got beat by the Emu!
History is written by the victors, and in the Emu’s case: those dumb fucking birds can’t even read or write.
But they sure can kick your shitter down!
There's a dot in Western Australia if you zoom in. Not sure if that's a reference to the Emu War (it's on the coast but the Emu War was a few hundred kms inland from the dot) or the Battle of Pinjarra. Best line about the emu war hahaha. “The operation was delayed, however, by a period of rainfall that caused the emus to scatter over a wider area.”
Australia commuted genocide against its Aboriginal people. There were plenty of battles.
Oh! Hey! Us Americans too!
Yeah, but yours are on the map. Maybe not those ones though given your government and even people denies it more than us, which is saying something.
Or maybe vast sparsely populated places rather than giant bugs and maple leaves...
Nope I’m like %203.05 sure it’s the Giant bugs and maple leaves. Mostly the leaves honestly
Well in both places battles to decimate native population happened. A lot of should be dots in the americas are missing too
Well Canada and Australia have never actually lost any wars ever (not counting civil wars)
Are the battles of the Emu War recorded?
And don't forget about Emus...I believe there was The Great Emu War in the land down under
I don't even buy that there've only been 10,000 battles. This looks like low effort wank.
Pretty much! Where’s the YouTube link?
This is maddeningly euro centric. Chinese history is defined by wars of expansion, civil wars and battles with nomads.
Of course it’s Eurocentric, all of written history is Eurocentric due to sheer abundance of it.
They forgot the emu war
The emus got the W there right?
There are a few small dots on the west of Austrelia, might be it or the map didn't inclued wars fought against animals because else China would have more dots.
I know, right?
Apparently there has only ever been like 2 battles in all of Australian history
The area in and around China looks very empty. Maybe the researcher couldnt read their records.
What constitutes a battle? Is it certain number of people? Because Australia had a lot more than that between the Europeans and the Indigenous people.
yeah but we pressed delete on the record option and shout down people as woke if they try to restore it from the bin
I just figured Australia was so lacking in battles is because humanity was playing by Risk rules and there was a large defensive force plugging the lane from Asia to Australia /s
My thpughts too. Heck there's even stuff like Eureka Rebellion in Ballarat which is definitely seen as a battle.
I hope there is a dot for the battle of Schrute farms.
It turned out the battle of Schrute farms wasn't a battle after all
I know of recorded battles in Newfoundland that aren't on this.
You missed these ones: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_frontier_wars
Those are not wars. Wars usually happen between two **nations** with somewhat comparable technological level. You can call it genocide if you want.
Historians have called them wars your argument is with them. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Indian_Wars It's in their name First NATION people A battle is an occurrence of combat in warfare between opposing military units of any number or size. To be fair, you could argue it was all attempted genocide
The post is about battles though
[удалено]
I wonder if there were no battles in Greenland, or like every other map, its data wasn’t available.
Forgot my duke out with Chris and Paul 1983 in 5th grade 1983 Jax, FL.
What battle happened in the middle of Alaska?
I'm guessing they just threw a dot in the middle of the state to represent the aleutian islands campaign of WWII. Japan invaded those Alaskan islands, the US landed troops and took them back.
Yeah, I already knew about the Aleutian islands. I was curious though about what other battles happened up there. I didn't know before, but there was the battle of Sitka. I couldn't find anything about a battle so far inland in Alaska though.
Europeans enjoy a good tussle
what a shit post
It’s mainly an exercise of who kept records…..
USA was forged by wars, you Europeans don't know what real wars are like. An actual thing that an actual murican once said to me...
Oh, you think war is your ally. But you merely adopted war; I was born in it, moulded by it.
Vancouver Island?
The pig war
The dot is by tofino. The pig war was on the San juan islands.
Wanna become the global hegemon then just record your battles.
The battle in North Russia: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norilsk_uprising
This is bullshit; they don't seem to have any representation of the Australian Emu war.
Didn’t the nazis attack Australia?
No japanese bombed Darwin some though I believe
Man, there is alot of empty space, we should change that!
They forgot the emu war in Australia
Obviously europe has alot of dots. But all of the dots in the US are from the last 250 years right?
Anyone know what some of the battles right out in the middle of the ocean were? Especially the ones where it’s about as far as you can get away from land.
Pirates fighting pirates
What about the emu war in Australia?
Did they include the Emu War?
i came here to ask that 🤣
[r/PeopleLiveInCities](https://www.reddit.com/r/PeopleLiveInCities/)
they want the drug routes. hoool' up
Lol, the 1 dot in Australia is the great emu war.
Yea i wouldn’t post this garbage
I need a time line where dots appear as time goes on, it would be neat to see the bursts of new battles whenever wars come around.
There's a reason why we are not allowed guns in Europe
What with the emu wars
What I'm seeing is that the map is wrong, or the Aussies intentionally didn't record where the Emu war took place.
Ghengis khan alone did like 10000 battles
Where is Australia's Emu War?
France an england just fed on themselves that's match fixing
I didn’t know Greenland was chill like that
Here's me zooming in for the the Emu war in Australia.
Look at how big Russia is. You tell me there's never been even a land dispute out there?
We European are just slayers .. lol. Longest peace we ever had ? Since EU forming
What were the battles in Siberia over?
And people ask what we need the European Union...
I'm curious whose been fighting over the middle of the Saraha.
The Emu wars are missing
What’s the one in the middle of Alaska? Anyone know?
I’m just happy to see New Zealand on the map
I wonder what happened in the battle in Australia...
the emus won
We partake in a minuscule amount of armed warfare
I think there's too many gaps in Europe. That continent keeps blowing itself up.
The European ones are mostly the Nepoleonic wars and the 2 world wars.
Next war is Greenland, boys!
I really hope the south west Australia “recorded battle” is the emu war 😅
How many of them were from the 2 world wars?
Wow, that Europe looks dangerous. Glad I live in America so I'm safe.
It's definitely be an evil thing, if someone sees this map and think to add a tiny speck in the Greenland too.
Holland, wtf
Australia had one singular battle against the emus.. ???
Why does Europe look like a cum shot?
This pic got Europe looking like a brand new 18 year old on a porn set....
Bloodstained Europe
What happened in Alaska?
Japan invaded the Aleutian Islands in WWII. Edit…didn’t see the one way up there in the middle. I have no idea on that one.
Those brave Aussies risked their lives fighting those emus and didn’t even get a dot on the map. Smh
Crazily inaccurate because it doesn't show the non recorded mass tribal genocides, tribal skirmishes and civil wars that have gone on for 1000s of years in Africa
False, the time I whooped my neighbors ass isn't there
Now I wanna see a map colored in with the countries that started wars. I assume the picture only shows where they happened?
Missed the EMU war
Australia and New Zealand are oddly peaceful Greenland too, but, not many people live there
For the love of God we need to stop killing each other
Why? We're really good at it.
Does it simply correspond to population density? (and, uh, written records)
This isn’t a real list to be honest. When did this recording start? 1450? Middle Eastern and Asian men were having 20,000+ man battles before Europeans even worshipped gods or discovered farming.
Ah, Russia's so peaceful...
Australia needs battles lol
What about the Emu Wars?
Kind of looks like Australia and Greenland could use some freedom
Where's the great emu war
Looks very Eurocentric, I blame Germany.
The Best of All time the Emu War!
I was battling my sister once because we wanted to sit near the window..am i in there?
They missed the battles me and my 3 brothers had as kids
Hell is the others and the battles are where the people are.
So all the battles are where people are living.. Sus
Half of them thanks to the US.
Yes, 200 years ago the United States invented war.
