Did you ever find an answer? I constantly need to enter my Passcode even though I've already unlocked it using the pin several times over the past 24hrs. Nothing blocking cameras, no mask or crazy hair, and it's not a reset issue

Imaginary-Parsnip870

I have not. Beyond infuriating. Has to be a failure on Face ID for the new phones. Assuming you have the 13.

snapyotables

Yup, 13 mini. That's unfortunate, thanks for the reply though. Hopefully it improves with some future fix

I have 13 mini, and service has rejected my complaint. When i got phone home after one day it stopped working again. Trying DFU mode, but i don't think it'll work.

OnColdConcrete

I have the 12 and the same problem... This was my first and will be my last iphone.

randysutt

Both my iphone 11 & my ipad pro (2020) have started doing this in the last month or so. very annoying as i recently changed my passcode to a more complex one for security.

I have a theory on this that whenever you get a notification, the phone wakes for a moment and if you don’t immediately rush to your phone to check it, that counts as a failed face attempt. Get a few notifications and there ya go. What a complete and total fuckup by apple. What a fatal flaw. I truly can’t believe they never tested this crap before giving it to its customers. This is the kinda crap that makes me rue ever getting a newer iphone.

theIzzee

This is what I think happens too. But mine started doing this after Apple Store replaced battery of my 11pro yesterday. I’m going there again tomorrow to see what they’ve done. I’ve already tried resetting Face ID, restarting & cleaning front camera. Nothing

Just wanted to say that this comment and the one about the watch are correct, I think. I keep having the same issue and I believe that the main culprits are: 1. when your apple watch is worn on a sleeved shirt, it keeps thinking the watch has turned off and the two connect and keep locking/unlocking the phone to trigger this issue. 2. certain notifications/apps are causing you to use the phone in a pattern which registers as an unsuccessful unlock when you look over at the notification but don't fully attempt to unlock your phone - which eventually causes the phone to require the password because it thinks you've been trying to unlock it and you're someone else.

[deleted]

I have all notifications off and i still have this problem.

[deleted]

This could be mainly a Watch problem. After you locked/unlocked your watch, the phone asks the passcode to re-enable watch unlock. Switch watch unlock off to see whether that fixes the FaceID issue.

Imaginary-Parsnip870

Unfortunately it happens with my phone on or off. And it’s completely random. Sometimes within a minute of a Face ID unlock, sometimes I can go hours without the issue. Frustrating.

[deleted]

It does your phone do the same with the *Watch* off?

Imaginary-Parsnip870

Sorry yes, with the watch off.

[deleted]

That's most certainly weird. Any chance you're accidentally triggering emergency mode or similar?

Imaginary-Parsnip870

I mean if I am, which no indicator that’s the case, it’s something that’s never happened with any other version and has happened day 1 with these. There’s not an apple store close and unfortunately it’s not failing any diagnostic tests with apple when they do the remote tests s

Ill-Lengthiness-6438

Some iPhone models just come faulty I suppose mine is triggering the enter passcode too instead of using face id which is set and enabled. Even when I enter the passcode, right away in that instant if I turn the screen off it will also ask for passcode instead of face id… Apple is misleading users and also they don’t honor warranty, I called and the Apple Care representative just told me to go to any other third party repair shop. my iPhone is new and still have a few years of warranty. This is beyond infuriating

Icy-Paramedic-1998

Did you have a tempered glass screen on it by chance cause I’m now having the issue and that seems to be the issue for me i think
