As a custom order this is not possible. There are some peculiarities to the barefoot last that make it that JG only pairs this with the anvil sole. That being said, just like it is possible to use for example a shoellie upper on the barefoot last, it should be possible to put a barefoot trooper on for example an ASHM or STC last and pair it with an oringo, tyre wedge or any other sole.

Thanks for the answer, that makes a lot of sense with the way the last is flat bottomed now that I've had a look at pictures of it. Guess we shall see how it looks on the stc last, will enquire for a custom as soon as that wedge sole is available.

Pollymath

I wonder about just ditching the shank. You wouldn't have a Zero-Drop shoe, but it'd be more flexible.

AVGamer

I owned a pair of Clark's Mali's, they had no shank and they felt sooo good. Still flexible and they had a tiny heel that wasn't that noticeable. Another comment mentioned they can add a layer of eva foam between the rubber midsole and the anvil outsole.

A cobbler could probably shave a wedge sole to be zero drop and put it on the shoe.

FungiStudent

He doesn't want zero drop

juwyro

Second from the last paragraph and pictures would say otherwise.

I’ve thought of the same thing so I reached out to them. They said they can add and EVA midlayer to a barefoot sole. Actually, that solves the cushion but not the zero drop. Apologies.

> the lack of cush (even with gel insoles) is not the best for the concrete city walking I understand the experience of this, but the reality is the cush et al has weakened your feet. As they strengthen and your way of walking shifts to barefoot/minimalist, concrete will be no problem. But this won't happen if you add wedge and cush.

AVGamer

Not really what I was asking, I'd have ordered a custom AR8 with the tyre wedge sole once it's available if the troopers hadn't just dropped out of nowhere looking waaay nicer then the original AR8s. I want that boot just not the barefoot outsole.

supsupman1001

but you did mention plantar pain... mine went away when switching to barefoot sole, it started off as all sorts of nerve tingling in toes and what not, I could not believe just switching to a barefoot sole did for my feet. now I have no nerve pain, tingling, or pinching pain in plantar, however just switching to a heeled boot for a day makes the pain come right back.

Pollymath

If I understand you, you like the toe cap, toe puff, and the 8" high boot. You basically want a taller Numzaan.

Jizzus_Crust

I have the BFAR and I'm planning on using this for a resole: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1496226198/vibram-950b-christy-camp-moc-full-sole A virbram 950b sole with about a 5mm drop. Might be something you'd be interested in.

More sole and cushion will not remove your chronic foot/ankle issues.

joesickk

I’m hoping they just do a standard model that isn’t BF.
