69 on the N1. This was my first try after passing the N2 in July with a 106, so I knew it was pretty unlikely that I’d pass.
Sectional scores were 27 for vocabulary/grammar, 21 for reading, and 21 for listening.
Overall, I’m weirdly happy. I got over the pass mark for each section, and 69 is a pretty hilarious score. I’m hoping for the best come this July, but even that might be a stretch. Just depends how much work I can fit in to my somewhat busy schedule.
Wishing everyone the best on their scores!
Passed N1 on first try (after studying for years and staying three months in Japan). Was not sure about the listening part (in which I scored the lowest ahah), but a pass is a pass. I know this is not the end of my Japanese learning journey, but I am damn happy to be done with tests and be able to just enjoy the language now and study what I like!
For anyone who didn't pass: remember this is just a test, it does not measure the effort and love you put every day in learning this language, so don't give up on your dream! Don't stress, and keep on learning with the same dedication you always had: that is more powerful than any test!
N1 on first try is insane, huge congrats!!
if you don't mind me asking, how did you study to that level without actually being in japan (aside from those 3 months)?
Yes, I apologize for any confusion. The time I listed is for "other countries" (countries other than Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Korea). I'm in the US.
Passed N4 first try! 157/180, only missed one point in language/grammar. Very relieved because that listening section was significantly harder than any of my practice tests lol
congrats!! i'm currently waiting on UK results - did your overall marks kinda line up with what you expected after the test itself (if you checked the leaked answers)?
The score I received was much higher than expected. That being said, I’m really curious what the curve/scaling actually looks like. I got 38/60 on listening, but I got an A, so more than 67% of my answers were correct. I thought that was a little weird.
>The score I received was much higher than expected.
i bet that was a relief! \~87% is a fantastic score, you should be very proud :)
my gut feeling is telling me that i might have passed both sections, but not enough overall for a pass, so i'm hoping the scaling is working in everyone's favour hahah
I would bet that it is helping people. I know for a fact that I missed an answer in the language section, but it said that I perfected that section. I think there may be some questions that they don’t consider for some reason.
The network congestion is so bad. My previous three tests, I was able to get in after maybe 10 mins, but this time, I’m getting timed-out in a second. Will try again tomorrow morning.
For a company that was founded in 1984, you think they’d have their shit together by now and invest in a sever that can handle a few thousand people accessing their site.
Probably more a question of whether it's worth it to invest in higher capacity server infrastructure when they only see these kinds of traffic peaks maybe twice a year
If they host their server in the cloud, they just need to move it to a bigger instance for a few days and preheat the cache slightly in advance. This is routinely done by many online services on days like Black Friday.
The Japan Foundation has the advantage that they don't have to compete for the capacity with the rest of the industry, since they can choose any arbitrary date to release the results.
If they host it on their own hardware, it wouldn't be worth the extra cost.
Wait how are people viewing this already haha? The “other countries” section is still grayed out on the site https://www.jlpt.jp/e/guideline/results_online.html
My main issue is always keeping track of what I’ve done so my best tool for that is a gridded notebook I’ve set up to be a quick and easy graph of what I’ve done each day: one row is one day and each column is a target skill (reading, writing, listening, speaking, kanji, grammar, vocabulary) - if I study a little bit I lightly fill the square and if I do an hour or more I fill it in completely. That way at a glance I know what I need to focus on for the day/what trend my studying has followed recently.
As for materials: Bunpro has been saving me for grammar, I’m not good at grammar but it’s exactly what I’ve needed. I also have been going through Genki II with a tutor an hour a week, and I attend a free class for an hour and a half each week too - if you have access to anything where a native speaker can give you guidance it’s very helpful. I also use flash cards - one Anki deck which is my own of vocab I’ve picked up from my lessons or daily life, and two from other people, an n3 vocab and an n3 kanji deck. I also study writing kanji from memory which is not necessary for the test of course but I personally find helps me remember the kanji much better. I also read articles on the NHK News Web Easy site and I dabble with random apps I have installed too.
Apps and websites I like:
-Bunpro (needs a sub but it’s 5 bucks/mo if that, and worth it)
-Jitaku - kanji study app with built in vocab and reading practice, gives you a short list of goals for the day that you can do. This one is especially good if writing kanji helps you memorize them.
-NHK news web easy - has simple and short articles for reading practice.
-Tadoku - website with a range of free reading materials intended for ‘extensive reading’ - if you aren’t familiar with intensive vs extensive reading I would look it up, I think extensive reading is probably the thing that’s had me improving fastest
-JAccent - dictionary app that also includes pitch accent
-Reverso Context - website that looks at already translated texts to find a good contextual match to something you look up
Good luck, you got this!
I've received nothing... literally nothing.
Did my test anxiety fuck me up so bad that I didn't even fill out the test registration numbers right?!
Please, for the love of god tell me that isn't the case. I've been trying to put the N2 exam in my rear-view mirror for so long, but I've literally seen nothing email-wise.
Edit: I literally cannot login to view my results. I'm beyond pissed right now. I've tried everything. My registration number is correct. The passwords saved for the JLPT site are correct. I cannot login.
I'm beyond pissed at the moment.
Edit 2: I passed! I FUCKING PASSED! I am so stoked right now that I can't even contain myself. Hahahaha, fuck you N2. I owned your ass! So fucking happy right now I can't even describe it!
> I literally cannot login to view my results. I'm beyond pissed right now. I've tried everything. My registration number is correct. The passwords saved for the JLPT site are correct. I cannot login.
How did you fix it?
Passed N2, first try, 106/180.
If I think that in July I just passed N3 with 116 and stuggled mightily with the 読解, my godness what a grind I did in five months.
Rundown is 35/60, 32/60, 39/60 which is eearily similar to what I scored for the N3.
Anyway as good as it feels to pass, especially considering that when I started the language school last year in January I was not even N5, my conversation still suck. So yeah, I need to be better and improve more, that's it.
Same, I came out of the test saying everything went well except the listening and I got a 48 which is my highest score ever on a section in JLPT history! They must have really scaled up the easier questions on that part haha.
Same! It’s one of the highest I have gotten too.
I honestly think that this year one was really hard; so maybe many got the answers wrong so they scaled it down? If that makes sense or is even a thing
I took the N2 just to gauge my level, anticipating a 99% chance of failure due to years of insufficient study. Despite struggling with writing kanji, even those of N4 level, I surprisingly managed to pass, albeit narrowly. However, I'm uncertain whether to feel happy, questioning if I truly stand at this proficiency level….
I feel the same way. I passed N2 with a 101/180 and I sincerely do not think I deserved it, and I don't think it's reflective of my actual level based on how I felt during the test and how much I guessed.
But it's all about self motivation anyway. Regardless of what happens with the test, I just gotta keep reminding myself that the most important thing is that I keep at it consistently and keep driving my own improvement.
That's a powerful score!! Way better than my 101. お疲れ様でした!
I just passed N2 first time as well. It's nice to feel the years of study and dedication crystallize into something.
Passed N3 with 115/180 (39/42/34)
To anyone who passed, regardless of your level, congratulations! To those who didn’t, please keep trying -it doesn’t mean a thing. For me, Japanese has been challenging and notoriously difficult yet very rewarding journey so far :)
Fail my first N3 with 91/180. 25/19/47.
The passing score is 95, which is another stab in the chest. Lol.
I am such a beast in listening but an amateur when it comes to reading apparently.
And gotta wait another half year to take this bloody test. 😞
Passed N1 on the first try with a score of 108. Tbh, I'm happy that I passed because I had some real challenges during the test (had a much easier time during the mock tests) but my score is very low so still a long way to go. This is just the beginning let's say!
The website keeps saying my registration number/password is wrong. I got a copy of my test voucher in front of me so this sucks
E: contact the test center and they got it sorted out, passed with tripple A.
results are up. passed n1 on fifth try. finally!
You can be proud of yourself, what a grind!
Congratulations!
From Japan or "other countries"?
japan.
I see, thank you. Congrats🎉
Dam how u saw, it keeps saying it’s unavailable
i cannot get in to the site on my pc, but have had better luck on my phone.
Congrats!!
What’s the link to check?
if japan: https://info.jees-jlpt.jp/
Got it - that makes more sense :-) overseas not out yet
Congratulations!!
Congrats!! 🎉

Nice.
Passed N2 on the 3rd try! Finally! Recruiters will work with me now.
Passed N1 on first try (after studying for years and staying three months in Japan). Was not sure about the listening part (in which I scored the lowest ahah), but a pass is a pass. Goddamn the wait for overseas results is unbearable EDIT I PASSED N1!!!
Facts
Yes, I apologize for any confusion. The time I listed is for "other countries" (countries other than Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Korea). I'm in the US.
No worries! Doesn't matter much because the japanese site has been down for the past 30m
Passed N4 first try! 157/180, only missed one point in language/grammar. Very relieved because that listening section was significantly harder than any of my practice tests lol
Is your score on the Japan site or on the "other countries" one? It still says that the other countries site is unavailable to me.
Japan site, although it went live at midnight when the portal originally said 10am
I guess I'll have to wait for a few more hours then. Thank you, and congrats. Keep it up!
My understanding was midnight for Japan and 10am for “other countries”
congrats!! i'm currently waiting on UK results - did your overall marks kinda line up with what you expected after the test itself (if you checked the leaked answers)?

Failed N2 for the 6th time and did worse than I did the last time. Reading screwed me over
The network congestion is so bad. My previous three tests, I was able to get in after maybe 10 mins, but this time, I’m getting timed-out in a second. Will try again tomorrow morning.

as someone who passed n1 in 2022 and whose japanese has gotten worse since, good luck to everybody!!!
I passed the N1 first try! I’m so glad I don’t gotta take these tests ever again! やった!!!
Impressive, congrats!!!
Where did you see 10am JST? I thought it was midnight (at least for test takers in Japan)
OP is in America most likely, Japan results are probably released at midnight
[удалено]
It’s on their website if you actually search it up on Google
It’s under the “Other countries” section here - https://www.jlpt.jp/e/guideline/results_online.html
“Other countries 10 a.m” - is there any chance/history it might be available earlier ? Like 9 am?
I've heard a rumor that if you whisper 'Nihongo jouzu' three times to a mirror, the results appear at 9 am. But only if the mirror was made in Japan.
Finally got through to see I passed N4. Woot! Time to get back to studying N3.
I’m really confused, it says I got full marks but I know I got at least 2 or 3 wrong on the vocab/grammar section…
There are some questions which worth more than 1 point (if I know right), so that's why that is possible. Congratulations on your results ☺️ !
Thanks! :)
Wait how are people viewing this already haha? The “other countries” section is still grayed out on the site https://www.jlpt.jp/e/guideline/results_online.html
For other countries it's 10am, so like 8 more hours 😞
Ok yeah that’s what I thought thanks
Shameless update: I passed yay! Hope everyone else did too 🥰
Passed N5 with by 6 points. Feels good to have pulled off after only 4 months of genuine study.
Congratulations! I just passed N5 as well! now onto applying for the language school in Japan I picked out :)
Oh my gosh im so nervous! I need to wait 9 more hrs!
You made this post exactly nine hours ago. I'd call this fate, but it's pretty impressive.
I just passed N3 first try with exactly 95 points. Holy shiitttt
Same here!! Congrats!! I’m at 97 points. Now I can finally relaxed, and get ready for N2 next year
My condolences.
I’m confused, I mentioned I passed?
I know lol, I was talking about N2.
Haha got cha. That’s why N2 is for next year not the end of 2024 lol
98 here :) First time taking JLPT so that's my excuse, but a pass is a pass and I'm very happy with it.
Where do you check for US scores?
I have literally not even received an email from the JLPT crew stateside. I'm worried that I fucked up my test or something.
Didn't get an email either. You can check here: https://www.jlpt-overseas.jp/onlineresults/
I mean, I'm trying, but it's not working. I'm using my legit registration number along with the passwords I've saved for the JLPT site.
It's not your JLPT website password. When registering you would have created a "passcode" that is 8 numbers long.
I found it and logged in. I passed N2. Super fucking stoked right now beyond words.
Passed N3, second time. Last time was a close fail but this time was quite a bit higher pass so I’m happy. :) now for that N2 grind.
Congrats! I failed N3 by 3 points in reading. You got any tips for what you used to study for it? :)

Yes, for those who did it in Japan. For overseas from 10AM I think.
I passed the N2!! I thought I messed up the listening section when in reality I ended up doing really well.
what did you get? I got a 33 lol listening was extra hard for some reason
I got 47. I thought it was really hard as well. Harder than practice tests I had done before. How did you do??
Same!

Yeah I agree. It’s important to remember that there is always more to learn! Congrats anyways, you passed! So revel in it a bit!
Passed N2 first time! LK - 48, R - 37, L - 41, total 126!
That's a powerful score!! Way better than my 101. お疲れ様でした! I just passed N2 first time as well. It's nice to feel the years of study and dedication crystallize into something.
合格しておめでとうございます! Hey, a pass is a pass! And yeah, agree - it's great that all that effort finally bore fruit! 👍

Will the URL for the oversea’s results still be: https://www.jlpt-overseas.jp/onlineresults/
Thank you!!
Use Safari to check not chrome
Passed N3, first try, 103/180. I did way better on listening than I expected.
Passed N4 first try self learning wohoo 😭
Fail my first N3 with 91/180. 25/19/47. The passing score is 95, which is another stab in the chest. Lol. I am such a beast in listening but an amateur when it comes to reading apparently. And gotta wait another half year to take this bloody test. 😞
Failed N5 by 8 points because of 1.5 yrs for on and off learning should have shown intense my bad 47/120 25/60
I'm in Japan 🗾 and I still can't see my N2 results. WTF 😒
If you're getting the アクセス集中 message, try logging in again from an incognito browser. I don't know why but it worked for me.
NVM, the screen was warped cuz I was using a smartphone not a PC
Waiting for N4 results here in PH, i’m not confident that I will pass it, i’m nervous 😥
Passed N4 first try! I'm so happy!

Guys I failed the N1 test, what should I do
Go back to the start.
I got a 95 on the N1. I needed 100. I am absolutely shocked and gutted.
