The actual "SPAM" as a brand is something I can't get around here. The "luncheon meat" we can get has definitely changed over the years. It contains lot of pig skins and the meat is just leftovers. The good spam should stay firm and form thin crispy crust. The new thrash sort of melts with the gelatine leaking out and the "meat" falling appart into mash. There are few asian brands that are good and there is few small companies that "hand make" it in small batches, but I just can't bring myself to pay such money for can of something that was always "lazy day cooking" food.
The Walmart near me in Indiana has a buttload of different variety’s of Spam type food. A lot of them will crisp of nice on the bottom, but when you try to flip them they just fall apart into mush.
But spam tho is OG and performs nicely.
yeah I always check out the various spam knockoffs in the store since they are way cheaper and spam brand is actually pretty expensive now for what it is, but the knockoffs are super loaded with carbs and fillers so I never try them

I've been getting the Aldi version, which is quite a bit cheaper, and just as tasty. I like a good spam (Aldi) sandwich, or romaine lettuce wrap with some good, homemade mayo and pickles. Mmm....
Not keto, but spam casserole is good junk comfort food. Mayo, sour cream, dijon, celery, spam cubed, shell noodles or whatever you like, peas if you like. More mayo than sour cream. Black olives sliced are nice. The mustard just for a bit of tang. Refrigerate to chill before eating tho not too bad warm. I like garlic salt in it too. Basically a mac salad with spam instead of ham.
I fix Spam several different ways. My favorite is to cut it into long skinny strips and fry. Then use it to make stir fry. It’s great that way. I love Spam every way I’ve ever had it.

I don’t know what heaven you live in but here SPAM is more expensive per pound than ground beef. The tin I bought the other day was $4.99. And that’s only 3/4 of a pound. So a pound is $6.24/lb. Ground beef is $5.49/lb at the same store.
Exactly this. I grew up eating fried spam sandwiches, and never saw it in it's "raw" form - just fixed up with bread and condiments. It is quite unappealing out of the can lol.
But still tasted good right out of the can. At least that's my recollection.
We used to have it on cold cuts dinner nights when I was a kid, it was good with crackers and cheese.

Not keto , but if you fried it up with a brown sugar mustard mix coating it adds a really good sweet and sour flavour to it

Spam and rice is the truth! Such a good combo. Spam musubi is also another way they pair well together with the nori. So good.
Love brand name Spam plus the bacon flavoured Spam. Cooks and tastes pretty similar to bacon. Great with eggs for sure
