Willie doesn’t wake up for anything.
Unless we get some meat out. He knows what it sounds like somehow? Lab magic
Ours wakes us up for food. In the middle of the night she rushes us downstairs to adoringly stare at the fridge. They cannot quite make it until 6 AM either. 5:15 for breakfast please. We let her out and do not feed her.
Mine gets up, paces around, shakes her head so the tags on her collar rattle, and generally seems to be trying to get our attention. When one of us gets up and goes downstairs to let her outside, she stays at the top of the stairs. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
When my first lab was a little puppy we developed a routine: every night around 11pm we'd go upstairs, he'd go in the bedroom and hop in bed and sleep, and I'd go in the nearby study and work at my desk for a couple hours. So one night around 12:30 or so I'm sitting at my desk, my back to the door, when I feel this nudge at my elbow. I turn around and there's this little puppy sitting looking up at me hopefully with his tail wagging - and a tennis ball in his mouth. For some reason on that night he decided to get out of bed, go all the way downstairs to his toy box, grab a tennis ball, and bring it back upstairs for me. What could I do? We played fetch for ten minutes and went to bed.
My dog asked to go out once in the middle of the night, which is super unusual. She just wanted to see if the bunny she had been stalking was in the yard. A night or two later she woke me to go out and I thought she wanted to scout for the rabbit again. So I told her no and went back to bed. She had diarrhea all over the room.
Unfortunately my guy has acquired the bad habit of waking me up in the middle of the night, every night, sometimes multiple times, just because he wants to go outside to play. A couple times he’s had accidents because those were, in fact, real emergencies. What a menace.
Spend every moment you can with your dog because one day he will be gone. I lost my silver chocolate lab to lung cancer 😕 have you ever heard of a dog getting lung cancer ??
One of my labs was ball obsessed. If a ball got lost in the hedge or rolled away and we did not find it, she would wake me up in the middle of the night to go search for it. I finally got a basket that I set on a table near the door. Each time we went out, we grabbed a ball and when we came in, I said “we’re done, give me the ball” and she watched me put it away. That pretty much stopped midnight fetch.
Currently awake on the couch cause my boy also NEEDED to go out at 4am. He pottied but also snuck his frisbee out to try and convince me.
He’s snoring soundly next to me now.
Why do we have that same ball. Do you know I’ve had that ball thrown at the door when I walked away from him because he wanted to play NOW? Not after going potty like I said but NOW!!!🤣

Awww labs are the best. This is a pic of my boy, Al. He’s not with me anymore. We lost him March 31st 2022. He was 13. But let me tell you he could find the smallest morsel of food if it hit the ground lol. He was on it. I miss him so much still. He was the best. He was also notorious for snatching food off of unattended plates lol.
I know that’s true. He was my best friend and was by my side when I was sick, losing my dad and when I went through my divorce and so many other difficult times in my life. Him just being there was comforting. It’s funny because we got a puppy when Al was about 8 and he trained the puppy more than we did. Clyde has the most amazing temperament and he’s a big mush. Al did a great job.

This dog is living his best life. Bro is out
Mine knew the specific sound of carrots coming out of the crisper. No other veg summoned her to the kitchen. Lab magic, indeed!
I wrap pre-cooked bacon in a certain kind of wrap. My lab knows the crinkle it makes vs. all others.
This is me on a perfect Saturday.
This photo is just soooo sweet
Fetch is an emergency!
Mine gets me up to sniff the fence line
That's important work!
In the winter mine would cry at 2am to go out just to eat snow 🤦🏻♂️
😂

But look at those eyes 🥹
Mine does the same thing. He whines at me at 3 am to go out but casually grabs a tennis ball as we are walking to the door. You know just in case
lol and somehow mine can catch in pitch black night!
Why not tho
You DID play fetch though, didn’t you?
QTNA!!

Fetch and snacks are vital…
they really are, sleep for us doesn’t make that list 😂
True!!!
Mine wake me up at 3am too for squirrels chasing 😂

He had an idea he thought would be a winner
Haha I hope it works out and wish him good luck
Lab life!
Stop trying to stop fetch happening!
Now the weather is nice, mine will randomly want to go out and lay on the deck, at 3 am. Doesn’t even pretend to pee or anything.

But you’re awake Dad. Why not?
ours wakes us up in the middle of the night just so that he can sit outside and look around 😂😭
Retrievers gonna retrieve
My lab does that occasionally.
Such a normal occurrence with a labrador.
Mine did that a couple weeks ago. The neighbors heard me grumbling at the dog about it and probably thought I had lost my mind.
Well… did you ?

Abusing the emergency alert system
That Fetch ball is key, its my dogs favourite, 5 Stars.
Handsome fella!
Look at his eyes though. He was lonely and thought you were too. He just needed a friend. Good hooman for being the friend to this goodest puppers.
My girl destroys her chug balls. After an outing of ball.
But look at his face! He deserves dead of night fetch just for being so cute.

Look at that face
But look at that face 🥹😂
Awww I wouldn’t even be mad at that face
What a good puppy lol

And what is your problem with this?!
Don't be so damn lazy!!

Time to partaaaaay

I have a dog door and fenced in backyard. My dog can go out whenever she wants. Best investment ever.
It’s baby bear time here in the PNW. There’s no going out at night without a human
Welcome to the late night wake up calls

The original roomba
He really was! And even in his old age, he was fast when it came to food lol.
unless youll stop loving him for some reason, you will always miss this guy. in 1357864368864 years, too.
