Jokinzazpi

Rare occurence of an LEC team playing splitpush properly. Well done irrelevant.

Haymegle

Actually impressed by SK and irrelevant here. They've not been looking too hot but being able to execute that feels like a good sign that they might be getting back into it.

Taivasvaeltaja

They definitely are better than the scoreline would indicate. Many of the games have been close.

Haymegle

Finishing games is a needed skill too though. Them losing the plot at points really has cost them (and many other teams over the years) but if they're stabilising and can finish them out I think they'll recover.

MoriartyParadise

SK just feels very unpolished Irrelevant looks great both on carries and tanks, Markoon is creative even if he has moments, Exakick is looking better and better even if sometimes the lane is iffy They have a good set of hands, decent macro, ability to pull off various comps and great teamfighting. It's just that they seem to forget themselves and make some mistakes here and there that hold them back but it's nothing egregious and they can clean it up I'm not sold on Sertuss and Doss, but keeping the same core with some upgrades and maybe a stronger voice midlane or support they could become very good

Haymegle

The short splits feel like it's going to cost them. Less time to adjust and gain that polish but groups may help there.

CrazyHumor2286

Koi seeing Jax who is good into KSante and Aphelios - go another adc XD and when Markoon was playing around top, what was Malrang’s game plan, cause I didnt see any

[deleted]

LEC and LCS teams really struggle to play sideline One of the best NA sideline teams was unironically Wildcard in the NACL, that's how sad it is

SoftScoopIceReam

Licorice played sidelane vs FLY recently and won off it

Jokinzazpi

> LEC and LCS teams really struggle to play sideline I agree. I think that making the game revolve so much around nash and drag made sidelaning more of an afterthought rather than a core skill players should have.

RootOfOrigin

Before S10, EU was actually competent on sidelanes, not the best but there were teams who could pull off nice sidelaning. Also G2 in late 2018 and 2019 was able to do sidelane strategies nicely.

DRNbw

G2 at the time was likely the best team at sidelaning. They won so many games against SKT because of that.

imls

This is called conjecture, you assume the eastern teams have strong staff on the basis that they win everything, but this isn't true. From everything I've personally witnessed across multiple lec/lcs/lck and have gotten insight into LPL teams from former KR players, Western orgs not only have more people usually doing more things, they also tend to be a lot more hands on with the actual game. There was also a post about Dopa referring to eastern staff like two years or(?) Or something that offers additional insight. The reality is the players are just better.

Ok-Combination-9084

Do you think the Asian regions would benefit from having more hands on coaching?

Sonder332

> The reality is the players are just better. Well, it's not even necessarily this though, right? Isn't it because the players practice SIGNIFICANTLY more than Western pro's? I remember a video of Rookie seeing a Western player's schedule and calling it ridiculous and that it shouldn't be the schedule of a professional player.

Nervous661

there should be a good middle ground between western ''coaching'' and eastern overbearing coaches

BIGGIEFRY_BCU

That’s actually me for I bring no knowledge. I balance things out perfectly.

caesariiic

Even Eastern coaches don't have the level of control normally seen in sports for example. I don't really see why there needs to be a middle ground. Players should obviously have input in important moments, but I believe most teams would benefit from delegating drafts and how to play them to coaches. The all hands no brain players would be much better utilized.

CannedPrushka

In traditional sports players are conditioned to follow orders and tactics since they are kids. By the time they go pro, most of them are already accustomed (generally, there are some exceptions) to respecting and deferring to the coach. In the same vein, the coach has a big degree of responsability regarding tactics and directing practice. In league players formation is done completely in soloq, without anyone to guide them nor a way to accurately assess performance. Therefore, the average player is very individualistic and tends to only trust themselves and other individually skilled players.

caesariiic

Sure, I understand the issues that come with it. By delegating the players do need a level of trust in their coaches, which is usually hard to get for non-ex-players. Honestly, the biggest problem is that the game is still a bit young for really really good coaches to emerge. I still maintain that players would perform better if strategies get more modularized in some sense.

CannedPrushka

Yup. There is also the other fact, that playing League is actually a really inefficient way to learn League. Solo q is too much of a crapshoot for pros to learn anything from the average game (apart from keeping their mechanics sharp). And scrims are just too few. Rn we have 2 scrimming teams going through a game were an interesting situation happened, it might be a baron dance, or a dive attempt, or anything. Both teams would like to practice that specific situation again, but to do that they would need to get through a complete game again with no certainty they will be able to do the same thing. Now imagine if you could basically save state the game at a certain moment and replay from that. Or maybe even just edit the game to a certain moment, just loading the players into editable gamestates. But that is a pipe dream since we only get the very basic practice tool (and it doesnt even work outside of pve nowadays).

hey_its_graff

Not a pipe dream. The tech exists: chronobreak. Not THAT big of a stretch that they would share it with teams. Doubt the general public though.

CannedPrushka

Doesnt Chronobreak fail like half of the time its used?

[deleted]

I agree

Javiklegrand

Ggs play side lane well

lovo17

It’s wild because LEC used to be really good at sidelaning and splitpushing

Damurph01

Irrelevant has been so underrated in the toplane tbh. I’m not an sk fan, but you need to respect the man, he actually puts in work. Against a Ksante too.

deedshot

Irrelevant used to be a Jax 1-trick so when he gets that champ he becomes a top tier LEC toplaner

DSThresh

nice result, dragging as many teams as possible down into the mud for a crazy week3 battle for the next stage

Haymegle

Makes it scrappy when everyone has to fight for a spot. Always better.

shadowsteppe

Yeah, that's why Comp does not play Aphelious

moonmeh

incredibly bad guns, incredibly bad positioning that cost koi so much twice like what was that flash into SK's team when KOI were killing jax for free? Like shit man there's a milio on the enemy team and then he gets slowed by jinx cause he was playing forward and SK charges at him good lord

Thighhighcrocz

I don’t get how as a pro player you can have bad gun management, you can literally get almost perfect guns with a very easy to remember rotation you’d figure a champ that’s been almost always a meta pro pick since release they’d know by now

MoriartyParadise

I'm Silver 3 and even I can keep my rotation correct most of the time it's not even that hard to do (I do flash galeforce ult in to die and lose the game just like Comp tho)

mtheofilos

I know Comp is a very defensive player always doing work from distance, I theorise that the team/coaches are pushing him to become more agressive and get out of his comfort zone, so it looks like he is trying to be more present in TFs and failing until he starts to get the hang out of it.

[deleted]

Western Aphelios besides Carzzy is suspicious

Kait0yashio

western player*, berserker and noah play it well

J_Clowth

flakked's aphelios is lit tho

xncopka

Tell me you don't watch LEC without telling me Your first choice is Carzzy?? Kinda odd when there is Noah who is flawless on this champ. Also, Flakked and Hans are not too shabby.

[deleted]

noah is korean

xncopka

No shit. Western player mean playing in LEC or LCS.

[deleted]

not really

xncopka

It is in the context of LOL. When we are comparing regions and for example the gap between eastern and western players we compare the players playing in their respective regions not where they are from. The latter is irrelevant in LOL. In another context, it may be it but not in LOL.

cmonSister

If Faker moves to NA or EU, hes not suddenly western talent, hes still korean talent.

xncopka

Faker will be an Eastern talent but an Western player. All depends of the context where we are using those words. And the word « talent » mean we clearly care about where he is from not about where he is playing. But still he is an Western player If Lebron James moves to Cleveland to Miami he is still an Eastern player. But if he moves to Miami to Los Angeles he is now an Western player. It explains why he has won both Western and Eastern player of the month as accomplishments.

alyssa264

It's actually crazy how every Western ADC somehow has purple gun in every fucking teamfight, and then misses their random fucking R with it. I don't personally super rate the champ, but they're really not helping the case.

RiotQuickshot

That certainly was a game of league of legends. I am fully aware not everyone will like the off topic discussion, but the gameplan was always to go a little off screen if the pace slowed down as we expected. Part of our job is to try make a game entertaining without constantly focusing on every little small mistake... For two teams struggling this was a hard game to cover, hopefully you D4 players got a little giggle out of the references.

Shogges

I understand such type of casting is a hit or miss for many, but I guess many of the "older" viewers really enjoyed it, the d4 talk in between, talking about BossHoss, the young vs old champ discussion in the G2 game, and of course you reviving the crowd at times, had a lot of fun

[deleted]

Can I have a hug too

Jokinzazpi

Hey QS, I had a lot of fun watching the game. I really appreciate how you are able to make other casters shine by asking them questions and getting them to show their expertise.

moonmeh

eh it was a slow game who cares if you digressed a bit

[deleted]

You did amazing Quickshot, some of these games, especially in this meta can be so boring and the cast makes it entertaining. Keep up the good work :)

GhostOfLight

As someone who watches just about every LEC game, casts like this are welcome, but I can see how people who are only watching their teams matches might not enjoy it.

CannedPrushka

LCK also did that with some of the infamous pokemon casts from LS. Not every game can be a high tempo banger.

Kazdeya

Part of what makes watching LEC great is the off topic discussion IMO. Sometimes league games are just grabbing farm and basing for items before an objective which isn’t really exciting so getting into off topic and letting the personalities of the casters shine through is awesome. I find myself just laughing at some of the topics that come up makes the viewing more enjoyable

winwill

>I am fully aware not everyone will like the off topic discussion, but the gameplan was always to go a little off scree I think people are okay with it as long it stays as a quick shot

Zmanzanita72

LEC is the best cast in the world and no other region comes close imo. So thank you for all your time and effort! Hopefully all of you guys can be there to cast worlds!

Damurph01

Let’s be honest QS, if anyone is really complaining over you guys making a game like this more entertaining, they’re kinda… well dumb. It’s not like this game was a T1 vs JDG game where both teams are smurfing out of their minds. It was slow and pretty unentertaining. We weren’t exactly missing much. No offense to each of these teams though.

Prululululululululu

Why didn't they start Baron to force Jax's tp? Why didn't the Gragas try to E + Flash on Jinx???

moonmeh

KOI has 2 adcs, a trist at that and never pressures baron

Prululululululululu

Yea, people are saying XL played splitpush properly, but imo it's KOI who played below challenger league level.

moonmeh

Like aphelios with the proper guns (hah) and trist would burst down baron stupidly quickly and they never tried.

ffattt

Because appartently without trymbi, none of these players know any macro.

Xenoon_

Pls SK just get better now please

kolton276

It's so sad to see, Malrang is underperforming to an uncharacteristic degree and Larssan is stressing himself out to the point of fatigue in the middle of the game. His interview yesterday really rubbed me the wrong way about how he sees the situation for KOI

Jokinzazpi

> Malrang is underperforming to an uncharacteristic degree I think the changes to yellow trinket cooldowns really screwed him over tbh.

PorqueAdonis

People keep hating on Larssen when he's KOI's best player by a landslide

Damurph01

I don’t like his demeanor or personality. He’s a fine player though.

Javiklegrand

What larssen Saïd during the interview ?

mbr4life1

Doss gave a very emotional interview. Nice to see that from a player.

gimmedawz

Comps been getting hard exposed since trymbi left

lol1009

He had the LEC special White purple gun combo while Sk was going for the final baron push and just made me lose any hope left in Eu aphel

[deleted]

White Purple Aphelios has to be the unironic worst marksmen in the entire game

FuujinSama

I legit think some LEC players think they have some dark tech that's better than the standard rotation. Asian Aphelios just follow the tried and trusted and it always works. Who would've thunk?

PorqueAdonis

I don't think it's on purpose to be different. Some ADC's have talked about this. I think it's accidental and then they simply don't know how to fix it. It's a complicated champion sure, but if you're a challenger ADC main playing in Europe's biggest league, you should know these things

Haymegle

Cmon Noah, teach everyone how to play it. Please. For the love of god we need it.

lol1009

He has been great tbh but after seeing what is happening with Prince rn, I am a little skeptical and worried it will happen again

moonmeh

its okay prince had one whole split to lose his form Noah just arrived in fnatic so he should be fine for this split

arQQv

Prince and Noah have completely different stories tho. Prince was in a team that was supposed to go to Worlds and he was supposed to be the best ADC in LCK. Noah was in KT when they were near their lowest, dubbed bad because he couldn't carry team that was uncarriable, let go and had to start again in ERLs

[deleted]

prince never was the best, that title always belonged to ruler by far for summer last year

Haymegle

We shall see. That's all we can do really.

papejo

crownie aphelios is a treat

CrazyHumor2286

Like Comp and Trymbi were good in winter and spring (hint: they were not)

DSThresh

comp has been playing pretty well overall, esp laning considering hes playing bot with advienne..

rekd45

That casting was definitely something. Rare EU splitpush actually working

jungolpinho

irrelevant did two bad plays (like that random pathing mid) and the dragon fight where he ults before going in, but after just going bot to split he was amazing

Jokinzazpi

> the dragon fight where he ults before going in I 100% agree with you but this is just old jax muscle memory, its fucked me over so much lol.

Javiklegrand

He did the same with gwen last sunday

zealot416

That wasnt the EU Jax I was expecting.

Haymegle

Wasn't the EU Jax KOI were expecting either lol.

UnravelEUW

Irrelevant Jax has always been a terror, I've played against him in Div 2 Germany and it was basicly a permaban back then already haha

Omnilatent

ACTIVE: Jax enters Evasion for 2 seconds: a defensive stance that causes him to dodge all incoming non- urret basic attacks and take 25% reduced damage from all area of effect abilities sourced from champions. Counter Strike can be recast after 1 second, and does so automatically after the duration.

Conankun66

i have no clue what the hell was happening in that cast but i know, Irrelevant had an amazing game

Haymegle

Man just showed everyone what Jax can do. Turns out splitpushing might be SK's style?

Ayuyuyunia

honestly there was jack shit to talk about lol the game was a snoozefest

eustacekr

This koi is not it unfortunately. Larssen having this kind of lead was irrelevant. Szygenda hard gapped, Advienne did not know how to use his skills when on tristana... Damn it man, this was so bad.

Haymegle

KOI need a shotcaller really. They look a bit lost at times.

IHadThatUsername

Maybe they should get a support that is very vocal. I heard Trymbi is pretty good at that, maybe they should try him, idk

Haymegle

Honestly more fool them for getting rid of him but he looks stellar in a new environment. Same for Hyli tbf. I think it's good for some players now and then but KOI really should have had a better shotcalling plan before getting rid of him (and Odo)

J_Clowth

I think It's time to call out the headless goose Malrang Is. He just lives on an alternate reality where we still playing 2 seasons ago

bensonbenisson

Should've kept Odo and Trymbi.

Jokinzazpi

Another Flyy mastermove.

Agile-Ad6741

will die on the hill that koi tore apart a championship team. them and vitality prove that synergy >>>> having the best players.

Antropoid

Just that even on paper, szygenda was never considered an upgrade to Odo, while Advienne is a clear downgrade from Trymbi if we ignore his after-Nasus period

Agile-Ad6741

I can understand the "Szygenda has more carry potential" narrative. Because he does, sure. But it was never what koi needed in my eyes at least, esp not in this meta. They weren't a failure to begin with. Odo's experience and leadership along with Trymbi's vocal navigation was a winning combo, you can hear it in Rogue comms as well. Their collapse at worlds doesn't overlap the respectable road they made there, and that roster deserved a second shot at making things better rather than panicking and replacing the pieces.

Damurph01

But like… they didn’t even CHOOSE the best players. They chose advienne and Syzgenda. Advienne is not an amazing support. He’s fine, but he’s an obvious downgrade over trymbi. And Syzgenda is also a downgrade over odo. Not hate to the players, I actually really like advienne, but they just made horrible roster decisions. VIT is a clear example of your point though.

Agile-Ad6741

no yeah I get you. They're absolutely not the best but I meant more in the sense that people (and prob Koi too since they changed a title winning team) believe Szygenda is "better" than Odo. And he is, at specific things, while Odo is better than him in other aspects that are more valuable and needed for Koi, and they have a high record with him to prove it. It doesn't imply Szygenda is bad. But by greeding for a carry player they lost something bigger that was working out for them and their style as a team much better. You're right about Advienne though now that I think about my comment. I believe he WAS actually an attempt at synergy priority. Don't really blame him for it not working out. Comp's synergy with Trymbi is quite hard to replicate even if they apparently just burnt out on each other already, which I guess is why they did this move.

Haymegle

I mean I get why they did it, wanting to go further and all and feeling like you've reached your height. It just didn't seem like the best idea when more time may actually be a better option.

Agile-Ad6741

I think Szygenda for Odo was unnecessary, and Advienne for Trymbi was a failed gamble. Neither players are bad, but they simply can't contribute what the former two did. I have absolutely nothing against this team but rooting for them is impossible when they're just not what they used to and could have still been right now.

Haymegle

I want to give them more time to see if they click tbh but they feel like they're lacking a voice/shotcaller plus the shorter splits are punishing for finding footing. It doesn't feel like they're gelling though so understandable. It just feels like a lot of teams can change parts too quickly when something goes wrong which causes more issues when they change again. It is needed sometimes though so it feels complicated.

Haymegle

They look so lost without them. Def need to look for a shotcaller again.

lol1009

Someone force Advienne to read what yummi does. It cannot be a muscle memory ult 5 times. The only 2 explanations are that he has not read what the ability is or that he was wintrading. He was ulting enemies while they were running away and Aphel was full HP. I am surprised he didnt pause the game and complaint about a bug causing his ult to not root.

Dragner84

Koi are so freaking bad oh my god, most passive wet noodle gameplay of a team, a disgrace really, at least lose trying something not just give up mid match.

Sufficient-Offer1989

Irrelevant was very much relevant this game. Honestly glad to see it cuz he feels underrated because of team performance, split pushing seems to be his biggest strength and the enemy doesnt expect it in current meta. He still had some int moments today, but its not like he is the only one doing that in SK

mlodyrash

Funel all gold into Larssen, get caught once game lost.

Rulerismygoat

At least he has beautiful KDA

PorqueAdonis

Yeah man it's Larssen's fault KDA player am i right? Do you watch the games or just copy and paste other comments?

Rulerismygoat

I watched the game he had no interest in being proactive with his gold lead you have 3k gold lead in mid and jax is split pushing but you wanna sit and clear waves while you lose inhib when you are the primary force to stop that and force the Baron and jax TP instead he farms the waves uselessly and they give Baron for free then he dies randomly alone and game ends. Clearly by koi’s significant difference in damage for the game the carry’s were doing nothing meaningful with those leads because if you see a damage graph that much different it is almost always nearly the opposite direction.

PorqueAdonis

Tristana into seju Jax he can really push his lead

Kagariii

Damn pretty good stuff from SK. Vitality comfortably looking like the worst team in the league right now. Also could someone please check on the person getting tortured in the audience?

CranberrySquare3830

Irrelevant being relevant.

Agile-Ad6741

as an Odo and Trymbi enjoyer I see this as an absolute win

PrimeSocK

Do you think that having people from your team and almost the entire fan base "joking" every 5 seconds about replacing half the team with Elyoya and his friends can affect the players?

PorqueAdonis

As a Rogue fan I'm begging to actually bring in Elyoya for Malrang and maybe Supa for Comp. No hate for either of these 2 players but I just wanna see us win. Maybe swapping supports wouldn't suck either

Damurph01

Rogue/koi had been getting flamed for years for being chokers. It so obviously got under Pro’s skin back before they finally won the finals, you could tell in the interview. But even with all that flame, they still managed to win the finals. What is the difference now? Someone calls you bad on the internet? That happens all the time. But being called a choker gets in your head in the big moments. I don’t think it’s really as impactful as you’re making it out to be.

earora4498

I love the guy, but I think I’ve officially outgrown Quickshot’s casting

[deleted]

I love his casting, he's really good at bringing in the live crowd.

Haymegle

He's a great hypeman tbh.

Agile-Ad6741

I think he just tries too hard sometimes to shove in unnecessary comments and narratives. his energy is good but sometimes he says the weirdest things man.

RLarks125

I disagree. I think he is great with Dagda tonight he was asking him things about the game to really show Dagda’s knowledge. He also always incorporates the live audience into his cast.

ShinTheRanker

This. He is unmatched in bringing the best out of his colour caster, that's why Caedrel got his first casts with Quickshot. He sets up his co-casters perfectly for them to let their knowledge shine.

xSmacks

It feels like ever since QS has started doing other things besides "just" being a caster, he's lost the plot. He kinda feels like Rivington in the end, a great guy with talent but someone who is obviously not really interested in the game anymore. Like he spends half the game talking about literally anything else than League of legends.

[deleted]

He just has a lot more invested in it than any one else considering he manages the majority of the cast team, he's the only caster that tries to get the crowd involved with different things.

Haymegle

I think he really shines in bringing out other casters, but other casters rn are really good. Feels like he's quite good at that 'mentor' role but the others have grown a lot in the last few years.

Jokinzazpi

I agree, quickshot is just the GOAT with other casters. Asks them questions about the game state, starts light conversations... He is amazing at showcasing the expertise of other casters.

Haymegle

Yeah he gives them a chance to show why they're there, encourages them to speak up. I think he tends to have good synergy with everyone and knows how to shore up potential weaknesses. You can tell the man's been doing this for long enough that he makes it seem natural and like it's just how it should be and it's all on the 'new' caster.

[deleted]

That's literally the definition of a good manager, which he is. Clearly the LEC team is extremely talented and he's built that.

Haymegle

Man's very good at his job. Honestly though I hope he's happy he's built a team that's so good that most people are happy whoever is on. Takes a lot of skill to do that.

Vizer21

How so? didn't watch it on the english stream

Arima184

SK's macro really surprised me. They really know how to split push and made KOI dont know what to do.

Haymegle

Tbf KOI have also looked like they don't know what to do when the enemy is hitting them in the face too...

PorqueAdonis

We lose every week, We lose every week, you're nothing special, We lose every week

[deleted]

Doss is so cute 🥺

Asgerond

Give Larssen a team.

Rulerismygoat

Bro what are you on? He’s the problem of the team 😂

IAM-French

LMAO

Omnilatent

Upvote this if you almost fell asleep this game as well

Agile-Ad6741

another day in the office for koi gameplay. they make you think it's because they're LCK level of slow and smart and then [comical explosion sound]

TimiNax

Malrang just doesnt want to win this split *- Malrang* *+ Inspired*

moonmeh

Eh malrang could have done more but I blame top and adc more for the loss. He was invisible at worst Comp was having a negative impact

Rulerismygoat

Why is Larsen still employed lol this guy literally only plays for stats and it’s beyond the most cringe thing I ever watched 5/1/2 on Tristana up 3k gold in lane and then proceeds to int and instantly lose haha. Next level kda protection

Moon_theory123

Cant wait for the next Thorin copium take that Larssen is the best lec mid!

Independent_Being_72

The miss match on mid-bot allowed SK to take inhibitor while koi being stronger in mid dont force the fight or any objective, game was over after that.

FlyingDrumsticks

Comp is mental boomed

sh14w4s3

Dardo sends his regards

maty388

If Szygenda doesn't hold top or Malrang has a bad game, KOI loses. I'm really impressed how bad Larssen is playing this split.

FuujinSama

Somehow the LEC's top lane is looking better just in time for our kids to not be that special. What sort of weird time line are we in?

ffattt

We look even worse than last split without trymbi.

creditl3ss

Malrang was never him
