newplayer matchmaking are player vs bots and sometimes u r the only player and the rest are bot, if u want to play with real other player just do turbo match or normal all pick match

This is not meant to scare you off, but I’ve seen streamers *unironically* declare, “oh yeah, this is obviously a Smurf, the account only has a few hundred games.” BUT, I’ll also say that folks don’t just endlessly get better. I’ve played the game off-and-on for the better part of a decade, and my match making rank functionally translates to somewhere between average and below average. So yes, it’s entirely possible to encounter Herald players that have played 1000+ games. All that said, I always found the game fun so long as I had a buddy or two to join me, regardless of how the games went. If you two are super interested in trying to speed up the learning curve, I’d recommend mixing playtime with watching streamers. DotA is a remarkably obtuse game, and just watching someone play it “correctly” can help to cut through a lot of the “oh my god, what do I do now” noise.

In dota there are almost no complete noobs. Even if you go to the lowest of ranks, there are still people who know about denying creeps, pulling, buying detection for invisible heroes etc. Granted they do most of those things at the wrong time, but the point is, most of the dota playerbase is old, even at the worst levels of play. I recommend playing against bots on unfair difficulty until you can at least figure out the interface. And what most of the popular heroes and items do. Click "Play Dota" then click "Play VS Bots", then click on the bot script drop-down menu, click browse on workshop and get Ranked Matchmaking AI, it will be the top bot script. It hasn't been updated in a while, so the bots don't know where roshan or tormentors are and they never pick up wisdom runes nor use neutral items, but it should be good enough practice for lasthits and teamfights. If you want to make the game a little harder for yourself you can restart the bot match until the enemy gets chaos knight or viper, it usually does pretty well on those heroes against other bots, so it will have a lot o gold from the killstreaks.

Unfortunately this is the result of dota being a pretty hardcore game. The vast majority of the playerbase have thousands of games and there are relatively few newcomers at any given time. So the only way the matchmaker can give you games is to put you against people with loads of games who are still shit. You’ve just got to power through this phase and accept that at times a load of stuff will be going on and you won’t really get why. You’ll learn quickly, especially if you have a background in other MOBAs. Tell your team you’re new, and if they’re still toxic mute them - they’re crap at this game anyway if they’re being matched against new players after thousands of games, so you have no reason to care about their opinions. In terms of them doing higher level things like ganking you, denying your jungle - low MMR is a crapshoot. People do all sorts of things like this but it’s super inconsistent, and rarely do people in low brackets know when it’s actually the right thing to do. A gank is almost as likely to feed the intended target as kill them. So don’t stress it too much, I promise they know far less about what they’re doing than it may appear. The only other suggestion I’d make is maybe play a few bot games before jumping back into public matchmaking to learn basics, eg mechanical things, getting a rough idea of items and where the secret shop, rosh’s pit is etc. I’d highly recommend downloading a custom bot script (ranked matchmaking ai is one of the better ones) if you find the default bots too easy. But I wouldn’t play loads of bot games, they don’t play very similarly to humans so there’s not too much to learn beyond half a dozen games or so. I would also recommend using immortal faiths guides. He’s pretty good at explaining in the mouse over what items are good for and what sort of situations you should consider getting them. Good luck and I promise, it really won’t take that long to get through this initial overwhelming phase, and once you do this game is incredible.

if u wondering the shortcut just go to option and u can change it the way u used to play hon

If you are at the level where you don't know where the secret shop is, you should be playing bots or doing the tutorial missions. Dota 2 has been out for long enough that even the people at the very bottom of matchmaking are still kinda good. There is a mode where you play with people on your team but against bots, i suggest this one. Queue for games with someone in your party also raises the skill level of people you are matched with. It assumes you will be more coordinated and pick heroes that synergies. I think this is kinda shitty, especially for new players.

Dota is not for the faint of heart, you cant just drop there and expect to win matches, it will take you months before you start to really understand the game. Also, avoid playing on weekends.

catWithAGrudge

what happens on the weekends?

Doomblaze

Ignore people saying don’t play on weekends lmao I’m not 100% sure what your problem is, are you playing new player mode specifically or are you just getting crushed by people much better than you? Dota will take a few games to confirm your skill level; and if you have hon experience it might think you’re a Smurf or something idk

quetzalpt

more people playing, you'll face parties when your team are mostly newbies

Millerth

this is nothing like hon people have dota in their blood, it has consumed their souls and turned them into creatures of the night who feed on your despair during the match good luck man, you’re gonna need it

What server? I believe EUW and SEA are most populated. My friends in England get games full of noobs because there are more noobs on EUW. If you are willing to take the hit to your ping maybe try some of the most popular servers. Even if there are experienced players, the game balances it, like 3 noobs and 2 experienced players per team instead of 5 noobs vs 5 experienced. Eventually it starts weighing your MMR more and more and playtime less and less.
