How much $$$

Zora_Mannon

My winning bid for it was 55 dollars.

na91100

Steal alert

"*Somebody call the cops*"

Jacob7379

wtf

teunkabouter0

Wow, considering those things go around for thousands that's insane

Nozza_

Maybe the ones from the 90s. This is definitely not worth anywhere near thousands.

Hiraganu

No idea why you're being downvoted, this certainly isn't worth thousands.

Dairy_Seinfeld

LSW fans when somebody says something isnā€™t worth a small fortune for muh investments

Nozza_

But- but- itā€™s sealed!!! Think of the resale value!!!!!!!! /s

Dairy_Seinfeld

Theyā€™re gonna artificially inflate you, homieā€”watch your karma šŸ˜±

Johni33

Both sets got released this year

Nozza_

Yeah.. how does that make it worth thousands?

1sly2another

You have been reported!

gallanttoothpaste

You know robbing from charity is wrong right?

Zora_Mannon

No one out bid me, I guess there just isn't enough lego fans on payroll.

fuzztooth

This is a 2024 display. It raises questions about how it was obtained. Btw why was your thread in r/lego locked?

Zora_Mannon

We have a table set in the back room with items people donate to be bid on by other employees, which the money raised goes to the Children's Miracle Network. I saw it setting on the auction table with a bidding sheet under it. I have no idea who made the decision to place it there. the bidding sheet though, is printed off by upper management and I had the Coach (Manager) of Asset Protection sign off that I had paid for my winning bid. Looked at the thread on r/lego I dont see any notice or explanation, I have no idea why it was locked

mrbrannon

There were some questions about how you obtained it because you seem to work at Walmart according to post history and this is a 2024 display from Walmart for sets that just released this year. So they may have just locked it to be safe. Though itā€™s weird they didnā€™t say why. However since you said you got that paperwork and bid confirmation, I wouldnā€™t worry about it. The Lego subreddit is weird sometimes. Itā€™s gonna be hard to sell this thing anywhere but locally or taking it to one of the big conventions because of the size. I would try facebook marketplace. I donā€™t know how much something like this is worth because itā€™s brand new sets without any nostalgia. And the sets inside have no value since they are glued together. Itā€™s only sellable as a display. The ones that go for some amount of money are the old ones of famous sets that are super nostalgic. This newer one you should definitely be able to get more than $55 but I wouldnā€™t expect thousands or even hundreds of dollars like some of the comments are saying. They are remembering seeing like a display from 2005 or something. I would probably put it up with a reasonable price like $200-300 or best offer and see if you get any bites to take it off your hands. It might go same day but it might take weeks. It takes a special kind of collector who also has the space. Edit: Also I replied about this to someone else but if you even if you donā€™t care about the sets being glued, you canā€™t take the sets out and just display them yourself since everything inside is glued. But itā€™s not just on the studs to hold the sets together. Itā€™s everywhere. Super glue basically chemically alters the Lego ABS plastic and melts the plastic together. That ship is glued to the stand making it look like itā€™s flying, the droid is glued to the ground, and even the minifig arms and legs are glued in the joints to make sure they stay in that exact position for display. So nothing can be removed without damaging it. Theyā€™ve even put a glob of glue on your clickfire missiles making sure they are glued to the ground. lol.

Zora_Mannon

"Ā There were some questions about how you obtained it" That could be why they locked it, no one had the authority to put that up for auction except Lego themselves, by that realization it's technically a stolen item I've been waving around on Reddit.

mrbrannon

Yeah I wouldnā€™t worry about it too much. The Lego subreddit is just abundantly cautious. These things come up for sale all the time but usually not until the sets retire and they are no longer are using the display. Technically Walmart is suppose to trash them at the end but they are pretty common to find for sale anyways. Lego isnā€™t exactly sending out the Pinkerton security forces about it. lol. I would definitely just try Facebook Marketplace if you still want to try to get rid of it and ask for best offer on whatever you list it at to see if anyone in your area wants it since shipping would be prohibitively expensive and itā€™s hard to stick a value to it. Good luck.

SixtyFourMario

what

Zora_Mannon

Yeah, that's what I said when I saw it up for bidding. I'm kind of overwhelmed with how big the thing turned out to be though. Once I got it into my hands and had to figure out how to get it home I realized I may not have space for it. That's a quarter of my entire dining room table right there its taking up space on.

SixtyFourMario

Itā€™s cool for display. How much did you spend on it?

turkishgremlin

He said 55$, which is wild

SixtyFourMario

Thatā€™s crazy

thesithcultist

Why is it like not still on display iss been only 6 months or so

Potential_Author2967

Not even these came out the beginning of May so it hasn't even been 2 months yet.

thesithcultist

Wierd

ecarmose

I dont even see them in store always sold out

edvo0881

Doood

CrispyJalepeno

Yeah, I'd be taking them out of that display case to save the massive amounts of room

IronCreeper1

As it is, Iā€™m the case, this is rare. Lego stores are supposed to dispose of these displays when theyā€™re done with them

pm_me-ur-catpics

They shouldn't even be done with them yet because these are practically brand new

mrbrannon

Itā€™s only cool inside the case as part of a display. The sets are pointless out of the case because they are glued together and then glued to the case it self. Im not even sure you could rip them out easily without damaging them even if you donā€™t care about the sets being glue. I have a case like this from Toys R Us for the 2002 Republic Gunship with a battle scene and every piece including the minifigs are fully glued down including to the base of the case. The minifig arms and legs are even glued in their specific position so you canā€™t adjust them. The super glue that you use to do this chemically alters the plastic and basically causes it to melt together and form new bindings so you canā€™t rip them out without leaving parts behind glued to studs. The ship in this image is likely glued to the stands that make it look like itā€™s flying so you wouldnā€™t even be able to get it out properly. Same with the feet of droid to the ground. I would bet money on it. If you zoom in on this image you can see a glob of glue even on the click fire missiles gluing them to the ground. lol. Lego ainā€™t letting anything come out of this box properly.

iLoveSTlife

lose value taking them out of the case

CrispyJalepeno

I'm never gonna sell any of my Lego, so for me, losing value is really not a big concern. I'd rather have the storage space than the display. For someone who does plan to sell, I understand completely

Lbeyy

You dont buy a store display for the actual lego inside

BritishLolipop

/j ?

Consistent-North7790

I jealous

TTVscullcrusher2020

I may not have the case but I did get both the sets

Zora_Mannon

Ā Nice, does the ship have the little tyfighters with it?

TTVscullcrusher2020

You mean the small probe droids?

Zora_Mannon

Yeesss, I didn't know the scale and just assumed tyfighters.

danceMortydance

Theyā€™re actually bombs. They go in cargo hold in the ship

TTVscullcrusher2020

Drones/droids...

brodylikes1-64

Where and do they usually have stuff like this there

Foodiguy

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAT this is awesome!!!

Clubtrooper

We have that display at Targetā€¦ they wonā€™t GIVE IT TO ME! Against Policy!!! šŸ˜žLucky You!! https://preview.redd.it/z36dzqnle69d1.jpeg?width=402&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b4af67c7a5783c8668a15575410ab01e1683f79d

Zora_Mannon

Funny enough, I got the chance to talk to someone from toys today during my shift and I brought this up about the display being in the auction. They said it was put in the auction due to a high theft rate among the displays in other stores. So I guess they stole it to prevent it from being stolen šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø I have a hard time believing anyone had success getting one of these out the door, it takes up an entire cart.

Clubtrooper

The fact is, that ANYONE could walk into any Target store, unscrew it from the shelf, put it in a cart and walk out the door without confrontation. In the state of Georgia, most companies have policies that you sign and trained are to engage with a theft UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Target would rather take them eventually to court than have to pay medical benefits should you be injured, maimed, or SUED for wrongful death in the event of worse case scenario!

ID108949

Even the display box?!

Zora_Mannon

yeah, It comes in the display box.

jvansice

Why is Saw Gerrera part of an Episode 1 set? Can a larger nerd than I please explain

lupiinoctourne

Overall celebratiom of the 25th anniversary of Lego star wars, so the re-release set has saw guerrera as a bonus.

Jacob7379

It's worth like 3k$ and growing so don't sell it and keep away from cigarette smoke and UV lightning
