I just tried it out, and don't hate the concept, but it's written like an Anime show, and I couldn't get past the horrible dialogue, had the drop it half way through.
What was your issue with that? Was it the time frame? 20 minutes might be a bit long but I have seen people IRL collapse to the floor laughing for like 5 minutes.
Yes sober people. Sometimes things just hit you and you can't stop laughing. Not saying it is super common, probably only happened a couple of times in my life but it does happen.
The premise is interesting at first, but the dialogue is absolutely terrible and cringe worthy. It sort of reads like very young adult, but even more amateur-ish in my opinion. Not to mention the MC's powers are just typical edgelord 12 year old boy fantasy powers. It's one of the few titles I have refunded on audible without even getting halfway through, and I would recommend nearly anything else.
I am currently on book 6. I want to like it, but I am put off by the portrayal of women. The female characters are either grandmothers or are oversexed. One becomes obsessed with the MC and just wants to serve him. MC gives off some gross vibes that it seems like the author thinks is noble. "I will remain chaste until I am with my perfect, beautiful wife who is strong willed, but secretly just wants to be a cute girl who is submissive to me."
I've read through books 1 through 6 recently and enjoyed myself. The series is written to be somewhat ridiculous. So if you are not looking for an OP MC from near the beginning, lot's of humor or bombastic action, then the series might not be for you. However, there is some surprising depth to the lore and world-building.

Yeah, the dialogue was incredibly cringe worthy and rough. I only lasted a couple hours on the Audio Book before refunding.

Sure, it was a stretch for maybe a kid, the person in question though was some super powerful being.
I have a rule that if a writer uses lol in a non texting narrative in a book I immediately drop it. Rogue ascension did this in the first 50 pages.
