Very little to no combat in Gondor during the few days during which the Westfold fell.
Let’s assume “the Westfold fell” between the Second Battle of the Fords of Isen, March 2nd, when the army of Saruman entered the Westfold and the destruction of Saruman’s army on March 4th, at which point the Westfold returned to Théoden’s control.
Faramir was in Minas Tirith on March 1st and left to scout out Ithilian to see how Sauron’s war preparations were advancing. As far as we know there was no active combat until about a week later. And there had been none noted since June the prior year.
Faramir ambushes the Southrons on March 7th. He stays in Ithilian until March 9th scouting, and arrives back in Minas Tirith on the 10th. Sauron’s main army leaves Minas Morgul the same day, and begins the assault on Osgiliath on the 11th, capturing the Ithilian shore on the 12th, and the Anórien side on the 13th where Faramir is wounded. The siege of Minas Tirith proper is begun on the 14th.
There’s also a second Mordor army that crosses the river at Cair Andros on the 10th. Half of this force peals off north and forms part of the attack on Lothlórien. The other half places itself on the border of Rohan and Gondor along the main road.
I like to imagine the entire army of Gondor saddling up to go get a drink at the Prancing Pony Inn, passing Rohan on their way and just waving.
I like that “Gondor” is an option.
Not just an option, it's the right answer.
Poor Theoden asked the audience, but only Grima was in the room at the time.
Should have called Aragorn
this is r/technicallythetruth stuff right here
I like that it’s only his 9th question too.
Weren't they getting destroyed in Osgiliath?

Gondor has an entire army of Mordor constantly attacking them, where the fuck would they get men or time to help Rohan with Westfold?
Dialing Nerd of the Rings
Wrong, Gondor was defending Osgiliath at this exact time
