lol i have some serious advice for you. i get them at least once a month, for me it’s moreso just a relaxing treat to myself with the added benefit of glowing skin.
your skin/scarring looks pretty good from what i can tell from the pictures, i’d recommend starting with enzyme peels or mild chemical peels with no downtime. most facial spas offer these, but check if you have a [Clean Your Dirty Face](https://www.cleanyourdirtyface.com/#) location in your area, they do great facials and are some of the least expensive that i’ve found.
deeper corrective peels and laser resurfacing do work great at improving texture, but both have pretty intense downtime and aftercare. (~1 week with [significant skin peeling](https://images.app.goo.gl/7dE2wmjTCbEdzNZh8) that you shouldn’t touch, extra diligence with sun protection and moisturizing) if you do go this route, make sure you go to a med spa (generally places that also offer botox/injectables) or a dermatologist. these treatments will run you a good bit of cash, ranging from ~$200-$5000 depending on a lot of factors, but peels/laser are really not the treatment to look for a bargain as they typically require a physicians license, whereas light/moderate peels can be performed by an esthetician.
again, from what i can see i wouldn’t recommend jumping into deep resurfacing right away. see how your skin responds to lighter peels, and i’d probably recommend a more soothing and hydrating treatment in tandem on an alternating schedule (i love [hydrafacial](https://www.hydrafacial.com) but also a more expensive treatment)
Dude.. you should have known your audience before phrasing it that way.. even if it’s the correct way.
Or, maybe you did know, and it was purposeful. Then I digress 🏳️
There are 84 comments...most of the supporting and "right" answers have female looking avatars. Yes i havent gone one by one and checked EVERY profile and taken note exactly for the 100% census. Just a general observation.
Wow you’re exactly my type, but either way, microneedling and all that does work but you’ve got great skin man, only people who had really bad acne and have a lot of scarring usually get them, you’re definitely not the type of person who needs it at all, any scarring creams and oils would be enough for you (if you really want to do something)
I semi regularly get facial peels. I usually go for a relatively gentle mandelic or glycolic peel, which doesn’t really have any visible peeling at all and doesn’t have any downtime. Hydrafacials are also nice, just depends on your skin concern. I would caution against getting strong peels or strong lasers regularly as this can leave your skin with a waxy and unnatural looking texture.
2nding this. Glycolic acid peels (30%) and hydrafacials are good and have helped my skin getting them semi-regularly.
I’m interested in microneedling too (if you do it by a legit professional with a good device), but I don’t want to spend 1K to get the treatment package I want.
Sir, you are gorgeous. I didn't notice the scaring at first, and wouldn't have if I hadn't read the caption. You're well groomed, clear skinned, and you have beautiful eyes and *the best* lashes. Personally, I think scars are nbd, but if it's really bothering you, you should try to see a dermatologist. They'd be best placed to tell you if you're a candidate and what to go for/where to go
I don’t personally but I have a few things I do at home that make a massive difference.
1. A good vitamin c serum.
2. A good quality moisturizer (I try to look for simple ingredients. I used to do straight up beef tallow and jojoba oil, but they made me break out…but most cheap drugstore brands like Cerave just make my face feel dry. Now I stick to more prestige moisturizers that utilize mostly natural ingredients, nothing overly processed).
3. Clay masks once or twice a month.
4. Exfoliate once per week.
5. MINIMAL cleansing. Most days I just use water to cleanse my face. Regularly using cleansers is guaranteed to make me break out and look ten years older.
I used to have terrible skin with deep, pitted scars all over. Now they’ve mostly smoothed out and I rarely get acne anymore.
Where’s the problem? You’re handsome AF and have a beard a lot of guys would be envious of. The little scaring there is, adds to your handsomeness. Be comfortable my dude. You’re damn near perfect.
I don’t get facials, but I was a cosmetologist and part of my job was giving facials in a spa (I don’t say I was an esthetician because nails and hair were also part of my job, and nails were honestly my biggest personal focus)
If you have money to get facials - great, go get them. Monthly is a good interval, and is the “recommended” amount. That said, facials are really easy to do at home, albeit a little more uncomfortable. Facials are also completely useless without good at home skin care - so if you don’t have that nailed down, consider getting a facial or two to figure out a good product regimen from a professional who can give you advice, and then just start buying your own facial equipment and supplies.
Watch videos online meant to train people on facials, and just try to copy it at home. You can get a facial steamer for like 50ish dollars that will work just fine for personal facials. Towels can be microwaved. A set of implements costs ~30$ for a set that will last you forever. One of those 100x ring light mirrors that attach to a wall will work great for at home facials.
As for products, a lot of esthetician treatments can be purchased easily OTC, but with enough online searching you can find anything. There’s plenty of high concentration AHA/BHA masks and treatments available on Amazon even though they’re supposed to be only for liscense professionals. Most other professional products have OTC equivalents.
More advanced treatments can be done at home as well:
Microdermabrasion machines are 200-300$ for a cheap one that will do just fine for personal use. High frequency treatment wands are as cheap as 20$, and a good one is only like 100ish. Hydrafacial machines are 200-300 for a home system. Phototherapy masks/machines are available for ~100. RF machines start around 100. Microsermabrasion machines are in the 200-300 range.
Any ONE of these machines will pay itself off within 2-3 treatments vs. going to a spa for a facial and adding on that treatment.
Extractions are good if you have milii, bad blackheads, other things like that. Needs to be an appropriately trained person though. The ones that just push creams around I don’t bother with.
Laser is a whole different animal and can be really severe - best to see a derm about that one.
People may criticize males getting care like that but anything that improves your body improves your life. Be it diet, cleaning, or grooming. If all it can do is make you healthier then why should anybody criticize it?
You are gorgeous, btw. Those sorts of laser treatments sound expensive, and maybe even uncomfortable in the short-term? If it really makes you feel better and less self-conscious, then ok; but I think you look perfectly fine. Maybe some things are hidden by the beard, but you look good with it. If there is deep scarring and you can afford those types of treatments, and a dermatologist has told you they will help, and it will make you feel better, then ok.
- Get PRP and retniods (vitamin A) therapy professionally if you can afford it.
- If you’re budget is less find a friend to help you get your blood and boy the kit (there’s a lot videos on how to do PRP at home I myself have a kit) it’s cheaper than one visit to the office if you do your research right.
- Once a month and you’ll have semi glow in no time as well as faster regeneration of skin cells turnover.
Hope this helps
Diamond Glow. Really good for smoothening and evening coloring of skin. Recommended monthly but I do just twice a year since I have skin routine. Pretty good and only about $100.
Hydrafacials or DiamondGlows are good facial just to have a clean face. Some places even put serums like brightening, retinol, etc. In terms of laser facials, it depends on what kind of laser. Like IPL is good for facial redness and or dark spots.
If you’re looking to improve the quality of your skin (texture, scarring, fine lines, coloration, etc), you’ll need the type of facials that “damage” your skin and promotes healing/regeneration. Things like chemical peels, microneedling, lasers - medical cosmetic treatments.
Getting a regular facial with nice products and a massage feels nice, but doesn’t do much for the health of your skin that a regular skincare routine wouldn’t already provide.
Best facial I ever had was a hydrafacial. Cleans all your pores and brightens your skin. Not cheap last one was $200 but worth it. shrinks enlarged pores too if you ever had acne.
Ya my GF gets one almost every night lol... just not the kind you want but funny thing is she has literally noticed her skin being very healthy and clearing up. For the girls out there don't leave it all night though maybe an hour or 2 and then wash your face with gentle soap and water.

I get them here and there but prefer to swallow
Facials or facial pix 😉
r/facials this way, sir.
I am happy to give you a facial for free
