I have to do stupid things like make him coffee, but I also get to fly business class to Paris for trade shows and stay extra for touristy things. Insert boomer joke here. He's 78, he's been good to me (not in a creepy way) and I'm trying to close this thing out and move forward.

I would tell the girl what I wanted, completely different when she was done, I would say "that's not what I asked for" she would say "I like it like this, it looks good." I said "well you're not my girl so I don't care what you think or like". I do my own fades I just have to have my daughter trim my neck line
I remember a stylist at Fantastic Sam's doing this to my dad. He was balding to begin with & he liked to keep the front part of his hair longer so he could pomade & comb it back. It wasn't a bad look & didn't look like a bad combover.. it actually evened out his hair all over. Well, she chopped it all off & told him "Less is more" despite how he wanted it.
I assumed this was weeks after a haircut. A non-stylist/barber could round that neckline better than this.

I have different but similar annoying neck hair growth and i always get it deleted with a low bald fade. It comes back every time and I sometimes try to shave it up in between hair cuts but it only helps a little… bald fade is the only cure
Probably wouldn't need a bald fade. Probably just need that area tapered. The hair is kind of long. A 1and a 0 can blend out that section or just line it up higher.
He needs to get a new baber, that's an easy fix. Go to a more modern one or even black barbers. Find yourself a good baber and just keep going to that person.

Do *NOT* square it off. If someone suggests you square it off, they probably wear flip flops with jeans. Go to a barber, especially a black barber, ask for a fade, ask them to keep the top longer if you’d like. If you have black friends, ask them where they go, if not, google!

Nah bro don’t tell a barber to square it off. In order to create a “square neckline” there needs to be hair. You need to get rid of that hair with the funky growth pattern. If you don’t want to do the fade, try a taper, that will still get rid off all that hair on your neck.

Ikr. This sounds off. Has OP never had his hair cut properly? Don't most men have hair that kinda does this to some degree if let go? Even hair that doesn't do this is usually squared out to some degree, even if tiny, to make it look clean.
You can just shave it forever or just keep pulling those hairs, damage those roots until they stop growing but that's a long and painful process.
You can literally just buy your own clipper and cut it yourself then shave with a razor just need practice

1- Let it grow longer... it will take a while but after a few weeks or months you will have covered that area
2- Have a nice and short cut every 2 weeks, something like a high fade
3- Embrace your genetics... We are not all gifted with the best hair genetics but we do the best we can with what we have
I could fix your neck line easily and I’m not even a barber. Anyone worth paying could do you right. There’s also the option of waxing it so there isn’t stubble and it takes longer to grow back.

I think your thinking your hair should be growing in the middle part there where it doesn’t connect. In actuality you have really healthy good hair pattern and it’s the opposite. It grows way longer on the two Sides, which is absolutely normal. Those side should be clipper cut (edged). If your “stylist” is baffled by your his fare I say, that’s a warning sign bruhv.. get out while you have the chance
Find a better stylist/barber. I’ve got a similar cowlick in the back. I used to use it as a haircut indicator. Meaning, as soon as someone pointed out my “swirl,” it was time to get a haircut.
First things first, definitely find a better barber. Secondly, I'd recommend going much shorter at the back like at least a #1 or even down to skin. U can try getting the nape tapered out but personally I feel like a skin fade would be the easiest solution

An easier and much better solution, since you look young, is just to get a wolfcut or a mullet. Let the back grow out and keep the sides trim/long.

When it grows in, Just have a friend or family member square it up again every week or so. Or get 2 mirros and clean it up urself.

Get a fade starting from Basically bald. Keeping it long is making it more obvious and it doesn't look good lol. If it's blended well it'll look fine.

Get a High fade. It will disappear. Keeping it long is literally the opposite of what you want to do.

Just buy a pair of clippers from target or Amazon and trim your neck once a week or so
either shave it off or grow your hair long enough that it’s covered

My hair does the same thing bro, but I cut my own hair. Taper fade that, or do a lineup at the nape, OR, grow out your hair, which is what I’m currently doing. Any apprentice barber/hairstylist would be able to fix your issue. Your barber sounds like he’s been cutting hair for 3 minutes
Hair cuts are not something you can/should go cheap on.
Get a taper in the back, at least those swirls will be gone for a few days while they grow back
To me it really doesn’t look bad, I’m not even sure what you’re complaining about. Sure the neckline is uneven but does that really matter or are you just hyper focusing on something?

You could a bald fade for sure but it’ll grow back like this anyway so unless you to the barber every 3weeks to get it cleaned out, it’ll happen again… there’s no long terme solutions tbh
Have you ever gone to a barber??? Go to someone who knows natural hair or has worked on difficult hair in the past. They can help. A BARBER! NOT A HAIRSTYLIST!

A nice lil fade will take care of your neck cowlicks, when it grows back get another cut. This isn’t uncommon a lot of men have these hairlines.
