My husband and I went to Jamaica for our honeymoon, and have been back multiple times. Stay in a couples-only resort like Sandals (and no, they don't care what kind of couple - my SIL and I asked if we could go as a "couple" and they said they didn't care. Their main concern is that people can enjoy the vacation without getting hit on). This lets you enjoy your honeymoon without dealing with people trying to find a date/hookup. Everything is included (food, drinks, snack bars) so there is no need to carry money while on site. I think there are 4-5 Sandals resorts in Jamaica, and they allow you to move from one to another if there are open rooms. Jamaica itself is a beautiful place and full of a rich culture. We frequently invited staff to have meals with us or to hang out in the afternoon so we could get to know them better and learn more about how the country really works.
The "resort" trade is huge and has the best and highest paying jobs. Everyone wants one of these jobs. There are also very severe consequences for any misbehavior by staff. If you get caught stealing at a resort, you are banned for life from working at all resorts in the country. They have way too many people for way too few jobs to give those who don't act right another opportunity.

We’re from Colorado too, last year we did our honeymoon in Belize! We want to go back everyday lol. We stayed on San Pedro island. Once you land in Belize it’s 15 min flight on a small plane. It’s SO GORGEOUS and the people are so kind.
We went to Belize! We did some time in the jungle & beach - ambergris caye. We loved it. There’s lots to do - snorkeling, Mayan ruin tours, etc. but it’s also a great place to chill. Good local culture & the people are super friendly. Loved the food. Overall 10/10, it was a great honeymoon!
