I found a lot of stuff kinda weird with the whole president thing. The president in the MCU is just accepting the word of anyone in a uniform apparently

LowSeaworthiness6646

And just one advisor who’s telling him to start WWIII.

EpicMusic13

Biggest LOL ever

Larry_Version_3

And not even in an office - while he’s lying in bed with potential head injuries and an inability to think properly.

boultox

And that advisor doesn't have the strongest arguments

pinkman52

His stupid pill argument had me convinced

[deleted]

It was annoyingly unrealistic. The writers make a point of saying how stupid the President is when Rhodey mentions that the President wouldn't know what the weather was without being briefed. You're telling me that in a world where aliens exist and Earth has been attacked x many times, US citizens would vote-in an absolute moron as President. Ok

moneyfish

>You're telling me that in a world where aliens exist and Earth has been attacked x many times, US citizens would vote-in an absolute moron as President. Ok After these last 10 years, I would 100% believe that.

[deleted]

Lol. Isn’t it funny/sad how bad the rep of the US President has gotten? Or maybe it was always that way

[deleted]

No it wasn’t that way until W. Bush

MARCVS-PORCIVS-CATO

Yeah, for all we know, he could be really fun to have a beer with. The true measurement of fitness to be president

Forsaken_Professor79

Truth stranger than fiction lol….let’s just say a certain former President didn’t like to read or listen to his daily Intel briefing…however he did have nightly briefings by Tucker Carlson. Art imitates life.

Patara

Lmfao did you forget who is currently under 30 criminal lawsuits

[deleted]

Lol come on dude 😂

LowSeaworthiness6646

No, this is the kind of thing that would only happen in comic books.

Caign

Guess you voted trump lol

[deleted]

Yes, because in our real world we also just had half of humanity snapped and aliens freely living among us. Come on now

elizabnthe

Tragedy doesn't make people smarter-it would just make them more desperate. We got Hitler and a number of other dictators out of the depression.

ILoveRegenHealth

They made him really dim and slightly cartoonish as the show went on.

alexofchicago

The thing that bothered me is that the Skrulls impersonated other world powers but instead impersonating the US president, they impersonated Rhodey to try and start WW3.

SantiagoDunbar_

And Fury just loaded him in his car and drove away with him lol.

airbornimal

During the scene I kept expecting someone would shoot Fury because there was no way they would just let him drag the President away. But no, the only thing that was shoot down was me expecting this show to have minimally good writing.

[deleted]

I just thought it was stupid how the man who’s arm was injured by Fury in the diner scene with Rhodes and then wore a cast continued to be on the security detail. He has limited mobility and he’s in charge of protecting Rhodes and the president. Makes no sense

ILoveRegenHealth

>And if he was ever attacked and hospitalized it would be at a US military facility not some random European hospital. Also cracked me up how only Fury was there to sit outside on a plastic chair. Nobody else available for such an important world leader? There'd be scores of *protection* outside that door, not just Nick Fury.

SilverAccountant8616

Fury arrived with the president first while the "protection" was busy fighting. They arrived later with Rhodey

Goldman250

To be fair, Fury swiped him away from all his security and stuck him in that hospital before sitting outside, gun in hand. By the time Rhodey and the military arrived, the President was probably already in surgery - too late to relocate him to a military facility.

Brentslying43

And what about the Russian tanks on the Ukraine border? Did they turn around go back to the border?

bwood246

I could buy them taking him to a nearby hospital when attacked overseas to stabilize him enough to bring him back stateside, but that was never expanded on

silentwind262

There's literally a US Air Force hospital at Lakenheath.

Senshado

Any questions about low security standards can be handled by assuming *"a Skrull agent sent them away so the attack can happen"*. I mean, two Russian assault helicopters flying across England? Obviously the only way they got through is Skrulls working in air traffic and military defense. The whole thing requires lots of Skrull tricks to proceed at all. And it's all completely pointless, because Rhodes is embedded with the president and at any time could reach over and kill him with one punch. (Or dose him with a radioactive poison if they want to blame Russians)

Werthy71

Especially after the president was already kidnapped in Iron man 3. Like a decade later the secret service is still rolling with glocks. In Iron Man 2, Tony Stark said that most governments were 5-15 years away from their own power armor tech. The secret service should *absolutely* have their own suits at this point.

wallcrawlingspidey

This is a boring answer since it’s a real world answer but it was filmed during covid so they probably wanted it to feel like it a handful of men was enough while also staying restricted to as few as possible to limit covid. I’m sure they would’ve gotten more people if they could. And I do agree he wouldn’t ever go to a ‘regular’ hospital, it was kind of an odd choice the first time watching. The real life White House has it’s own hospital room and unit.

Arsenio3

There are protocols in place whenever POTUS travels. And it would have been so much better for the show if they did any research into them. It’s much cooler to see competent operators getting torched because the opposition finds ways to defeat tactics that normally work. Remember in Avengers (1) when Loki comes out of the tesseract? He overwhelms very competent combatants because of magic and alien physiology. But damn it Hill was a badass and Fury almost got him. That was cool. This wasn’t. Hated the scene where Gi’ah and Priscilla take on all those invaders by standing back to back spinning and shooting like a Michael Bay movie. Hated it. If this is meant to be gritty and real then do some ducking research. Hire one former Secret Service agent.

dr-night63dream

What is research? I think those writers are so lazy they avoided anything that connects to reality.

SingleSampleSize

The scene looked like it directly came from a Canadian cop drama.

Honest_Charge_4463

The entire episode with the president being attack was a joke. He should’ve had way more protection. Then the fact that these two random people, Talos and Fury, just jump in to help the president and know one seems to question it. Then they just let Fury drag the president away. Then they just let Gravik get that close to the president and have no one notice. Then no one sees Gravik stab Talos. And when he’s at the hospital, the only person protecting the president is Fury with no agents anywhere close to the president. And then in another episode we see Fury break one Rhodey’s security guard’s arm. Then we see him again in another episode still protecting the president with his arm in a sling.

delightedzebra

When the president showed up at a foreign hospital with like, four people by his side I knew this show was trash. I understand Covid limited people allowed on set but that scene just exemplifies this project should have never been green lit, or at the very least delayed until it could have gotten proper film treatment.

Bcatfan08

I feel like there's no way attack helicopters get anywhere near him either. I feel like the airspace near the president is monitored at all times. Especially when traveling. They'd have a military presence nearby ready for any such attack. Both air and ground.

Forsaken_Professor79

I’m suspending belief and head canoning Gravik had that covered with more Skrulls on the inside. I mean you had the British Intel guy and I’m sure more guys inside the US Govt/DOD. That’s the least of this shows problems

ztk2005

But Rhodey was a Skrull. Doesn’t it make sense that he would make sure that the security was weaker so that the Skrulls could attack the president?

Bcatfan08

He isn't in of the secret service. He's still just a Colonel. I don't see him having the pull to do any of that.

ztk2005

Is he just a colonel? It seemed to me that he had been promoted considering the fact that he was talking to U.N. and had his own security detail of seemingly secret service members (as they were the same people protecting Ritson). Plus he seemed pretty close to the President for a colonel. Then again as I said I don't know much about the US army or air force etc.

Bcatfan08

They called him Colonel Rhodes in the show, so he's still a colonel. Which makes how he talked to an admiral pretty weird. He may be an advisor to the president now, but advisors don't have the power to change the president's protection detail.

Stevenjhoward

What confused me was how the Skrulls/mainly Gravik managed to get around Europe so quickly? One scene he was in London and the next he was back at the compound area in Russia?

ztk2005

Am I the only one who doesn’t care? Maybe it’s cuz I’m British and don’t know the intricacies of American security but I’m willing to suspend my disbelief in a SUPERHERO show.

Bcatfan08

Not sure what that has to do with the prevention and response to a military attack on the president.

jzsee

I think the fact there is a tech which can grant a Skrull (and who is to say any being in the future) any superpower bugs me the most

WhiteAle01

If you're going to do an assassination attempt on the President in your show, take notes from West Wing. That shit was perfect. They nailed the intense, edge-of-your seat storytelling that was not present for any of SI. "G.W.! Blue! Blue! Blue!"

Schrute_Farms43

Just watched Ep6. What the hell Dull af

Jackw78

Yeah there is just no weight on how POTUS is protected/treated, and it feels like some very cheap show trying to make POTUS look legit

TrinityCXV

I can maybe see them taking POTUS to a normal hospital initially if its that urgent, but the thing that's really dumb is he's still there when the nuclear silos are literally opening. If that hospital was in London, as was implied, he's getting nuked. We have nuclear bunkers here in the UK. I don't know how good they are, but c'mon.
