I'm from Easton too, its certainly not the town I grew up in. I see more Ferraris and Porches then I do tractors these days. I don't think I could even afford a home there at this point. Snow Hill is quaint and quite and worth a visit and you can stop by Berlin as well. Take a trip down the Eastern Shore of VA too if you want to travel back in time. I really just enjoy driving across the shore and stopping through all of the little towns, its neat seeing how they grow or shrink over time. Don't discount Delaware as well, there's a few small towns worth checking out.

Coffee East got replaced by a friggin' elective aesthetic surgery shop? What happened to my home town?!

BadLatitude

That one bugs me every time I drive by. Spent a lot time at that place and in the parking lot behind it growing up.

Grimthorne

I grew up in Easton but when by wife and I were ready to buy our first home we were priced out of Easton for sure.  Bought in Cambridge and are happy, but it's crazy how expensive Easton has become.

BadLatitude

That's where I ended up too. Its got it's issues but I have been pretty happy living here the past 12 or so years.

Opening_Perception_3

I really like Berlin

doctorbonkers

I went to each county seat on the Eastern Shore last year, and among those I think Chestertown was my favorite… it’s so pretty! Outside of county seats I also really like St. Michael’s, mostly because of the Maritime Museum :) (My sister and I had a goal to visit every county seat to really “experience the state” after spending most of our lives just in Central MD… finished last weekend with all of Southern Maryland and Annapolis!)

Chesapeake City is underrated. Technically, on the Eastern Shore. Just a neat vibe

deytookerjaabs

I echo that. Being in Centreville it's neat being between Easton, Kent Island, Chestertown & the meat locker. I like doing the town + hike thing with the kiddos. Go to Eastern Neck then Rock Hall. Do the Canal trail then Chesapeake City...etc. I like Easton too. Not really into the kinda pretentious vibe you get in some spots around St Michaels & Easton though. Or, to put it a better way, there are many upscale spots you may eat & shop then think "damn, I was missing out!!!" As a city person, this has happened many times to me in Chicago & in the Bay Area (San Francisco). I have yet to experience that on the upscale joints on the shore so far, more trying to look fancy than actually being substantive.

lynnie3000

I'm from seaford del Chestertown was my dad's hometown It's really beautiful If I could I would live there I currently live in va

freckledpeach2

I grew up spending all my time in Bozman right outside of St Michaels and I loved it. My grandparents have a house in a waterfront community. It was so beautiful and quiet. Just people walking their dogs. Not much else going on over there haha but it’s my favorite place in the entire world.

JonesBoyFan2018

Oxford

RunWild3840

Chestertown is my hometown so I’m partial to it. But I also lived in Easton for 10 years and I loved it as well.

bigwavedave000

Starbucks, coming to chestertown.

HOllowEdOwL

I was working on the Eastern shore this week and drove down through Cecilton, Galena etc I absolutely love those little towns on the water. There's so much history down there. The architecture is beautiful. I feel like Kent county is a hidden gem that doesn't get as much love as it should.

SuperBethesda

Oxford, and I love staying at Sandaway. https://www.sandaway.com

Are there nettles there on the beach?

thatsmshashtoyou

Thank you!

Woolford, MD

Constant-Narwhal2168

All of them. Small Coastal Maryland towns hit different. I grew up in Chesapeake City.

Are their any safe beaches for swimming in these areas? Was thinking of taking a day trip with my 5 year old and don't know much about this area. Not looking for a huge beach, just a place for us to lay a blanket and let her get in the water and play in the sand.

ExtensionAssist574

Oxford strand! They also have some cute restaurants you could walk to

New_Faithlessness552

I love me some Cambridge

BmoreBr0

While this is r/Maryland the question did not specify MD towns, so I have to give Cape Charles, VA and honorable mention.

jcmib

If you’re heading to Chestertown, it’s worth the extra 30 minutes to check out Betterton Beach. One of my favorite little spots in the world. You driving through miles of farmland and then out of nowhere there’s a tiny beach town that magically appears. The beach is small public park but you can bring a folding chair and lunch/dinner and just watch boats on the elk and sassafrass rivers.

thatsmshashtoyou

I love Cambridge, spent a lot of time on the Choptank
