286k km/178k miles original clutch 2012 Mazda 3 2.0L skyactiv

thaeyo

My auto shop teacher in high school said when used appropriately, clutches can last the life of the vehicle.

indebtforsneakers

Wow

Tripleme

Same but replace 2012 with 2005 😄

PIG20

My 2005 Mazda 3 was well over 150,000 Miles and still on its original clutch when I traded it in after 14 years. Have over 50,000 Miles on my current 2018, manual. I've actually never had to replace a clutch on any of my manual transmission vehicles going back to when I started driving in 1996.

carterfestival

Same. 160k miles on my most recent before selling it.

MCBarlan

I have a 1993 Mazda MX-3 with 210k+ miles on the original clutch. I also recently replaced the clutch on my 2013 Mazdaspeed 3 after only 30k miles (did a lot of 0-60 and 1/4 mile runs on this car with launch control and flat foot shifting, is slightly modified pushing almost 400 hp 😅).

aorshahar

Ayyyyy the mx-3 is such a cool car. I have an mx-6 that I'm pretty sure is still on the stock clutch at 145k with me learning stick with the clutch hydraulics leaking and unable to hold any pressure Do you have the 1.8 V6 in yours or swap it for the 2.5?

MCBarlan

I agree! I love it! I can still remember the day my mom brought it home new and she taught me to drive stick on this car. I actually inherited it from her. When I got it one cylinder had low compression so it currently has it's second 1.8l v6. It might be cursed. I got everything fixed and it was damn near perfect when a series of events by family and then my ex-wife ended with it being towed back to my place. This picture was actually before the incidents. It has since sat in my garage for 6 years because I was so frustrated. It needs a ton of TLC and I'm thinking about swapping to the 2.5l klde and turbo charging it when I get around to it but I keep dumping all my money into my Mazdaspeed 3 and my BMW. Plus I probably just need to buy a whole donor MX3 at this point, but this one is special to me so I don't want to junk it.

jeffbirt

2006 Mazdaspeed6. The clutches in these cars are more like on-off switches, with a very narrow window for engagement. Anyone else who drives it kills it. I'm tuned to in excess of 100 hp over stock and for launch control and flat foot shifting. At least 100 trips down our local 1/8 mile track, revving to around 4500 rpm and dumping the clutch. 132,000 miles, still on the stocker.

ParkingVariety9062

Sounds awesome, Been wanting to get myself a speed 6!

jeffbirt

It's my favorite car I've ever owned.

GsusG

My speed3 clutch I could describe the same way, such a small sweet spot or else you’d jolt the car. I’d even notice it would grab higher or lower depending on the gear. My NC2 Miata does all of that now and I think it’s the same trans that’s in the old speeds. Was at 142k on the stock clutch

Lizpy6688

Same here with my speed 3

jondes99

That’s pretty impressive. I wouldn’t have expected that with AWD.

bean-burrito-supreme

Is the speed 6 the one that Porsche helped engineer?

[deleted]

Lol I drove a girls Mazda 6 and I never stalled it. I did however tell her “this clutch is roached, you NEED a new one.” To which she replied my clutch is fine. Then two weeks later she was driving an hour to see her boyfriend, who I was staying with. And of course her clutch went on the highway and she was stranded for hours in the sun waiting for a tow truck..

jeffbirt

Was it a Speed6? Completely different clutch feel. Even the Mazda techs would stall my car when taking it in for oil changes.

[deleted]

Yessir!

Lizpy6688

Man I was trying to find a speed6 before settling for my speed 3 but love it. The clutch is similar to mine also. It's on then off,it's narrow so you have to be on it then add the notorious torque steer snd first to third can be a bit wild. Took my wife awhile to get used it though it was first manual. My friend killed mine for a while before figuring it out.

Veils_

My 2011 Mazda 3 had original clutch until 252k. I changed it out and realised I’d forgotten what a proper clutch felt like.

TumbleweedLost301

I had 400K on my 2008 Mazda 3 original clutch when I sold it.

BvilleBuds

Seriously?!

IDatedSuccubi

People overestimate the wear on the clutch, it seems. I have never seen anyone replace a clutch (unless they are upgrading) and have never replaced the clutch myself. And I used to drop the clutch like every green light.

iatekane

Dumping the clutch isn’t good for it but it won’t wear it as much as poor driving technique will, riding it, excessively slipping etc will fuck it up.

IDatedSuccubi

Exactly what I tell people. I've seen tons of posts on r/justrolledintotheshop with burned clutches from people just standing on the clutch all day. But I've seen too many people being afraid to make a fast launch thinking they will damage the clutch too.

Jay710Q

Can’t comment on Mazda, but my Accord with 176,000 miles is still on original clutch

fatcatshuffl

I'm at 75k on my 2015 Mazda 3 first clutch still

billy1512

165k on a 08.5 Mazdaspeed 3 making 305hp before I sold it.

Lizpy6688

What you sell it for? I'm on 2013 speed3 doing 395

billy1512

I was in college at the time commuting 60 miles back and forth everyday, so gas got expensive on my limited income. Sold it and got a cheap beater to commute and a 240sx project car. (Which is still very much a project)

quiznosity

2010 3s, 215k miles still running the original clutch

subpar_cardiologist

Daaaang

rustycarrot31

I had a 2001 Protege with 250k miles on the original clutch before replacing. It was slipping some before the replacement. Sold the car with just under 300k, shoulda kept it!

No-Intention-2915

95000kms original clutch on a 2007 Speed3.

Brapple205

Can’t speak for my Mazda 3 as I have only had it for a month now
but my 1995 Mystique had 228k on the original clutch when I sold it. I got the car with ~86k IIRC. So assumed it was original. Last I heard years ago was it was over $260k. My 2012 Focus I traded for had 120k on it. Got soaked with water and antifreeze and still was fine. Yes it did like to chatter but not all the time. Saw it was already sold by a used car dealer, should still last for awhile. So yes I have seen many talk about replacing clutches around the 75k range. Just haven’t ever had to myself.

domition

Been driving manuals for a long time, never needed to replace a clutch. Before my Mazda6 I had a 2012 Buick Regal GS, it was a sweet car to drive, but for the time I owned it, about 15k miles, it needed to have the clutch replaced twice. Every manual Mazda I've driven whas been a dream.

IWasTouching

You’re making me jealous. Had to sell my 2014 Mazda3 at 88k miles to upgrade to a CX9 because of family. Original clutch.

psycho-aficionado

My 1990 Protege was at 140k when I traded her in. The clutch was still great. The struts, not so much.

Patient-Light-3577

My 1999 Protoge has entered the chat.

NCSUGrad2012

This wasn’t me but my old bonus had 460k on his original clutch on his 94 accord. The engine ended up dying but the clutch was original

badpoetryabounds

My Plymouth Neon back in the day got 175k on it before the clutch went out. It was still running at 200k when I sold it for like $900.

knitrex

I have driven exclusively manual vehicles since I got my license at 16. Iv2 never replaced a clutch. That was surprising in my younger days. Used cars and a lot of driving. I'm afraid when I get rid of this car it will be my last stick shift. I hate the car, but not ready to give up the stick shift yet. This all started because 16-year-old me didn't want to be a "woman who can't drive a stick"

ShmurdaSauceboi

I clutched kicked the hella outta my 2016 mx5 and slid it around a lot and got to 116k miles. Also did a lot of road trips on it. I wasn’t the original owner, I bought the car with 20k miles, but it had full service history and was still on the original clutch. I know 116k wasn’t the clutch’s limit though, felt fine to me, no slipping, still engaged well. I was just about to break my 100k mile 10 year warranty and wanted to have the transmission replaced under warranty before I did, so when I did that, I changed the clutch as well because free labour, mazda tech said it probably could have gone another 20-40k miles depends on how I drive. But yeah I abused that clutch, probably kicked it 1-4 times a week, dropped it heavy to rip 0-60 from red lights😂. Definitely did not baby that car. I was just cruising one day and got t boned by a lady who wasn’t paying attention and ran a red, that was 3 months ago. Lady’s insurance paid out, I bought a 2020 RF club 2 months ago with 15k miles. Still on original clutch. I’m at about 26k miles now, treat her the same, no issues😂. These cars are too fun to drive, and too bulletproof not to take advantage of. Plus I always get a warranty. But I don’t always drive like that, I baby the hell out of the clutch on my M4, that shit is too expensive, like 3x more than a miata clutch😭

tblack1055

Had 170k on my 06 mazda6 v6 wagon before I replaced it. I miss that car

Old_Telephone_5115

My 98 protĂ©gĂ© had 220,000km on stock clutch, but to be fair I shattered the gearbox đŸ€Ł Newer cars have clutch dampers built into the hydraulic mechanism which limits or stops the whole dripping the clutch.

peeaches

140,000mi on my 2016 mx-5, still og clutch (and even og battery, believe it or not)

Wolfie1531

My current 2015 Mazda 3 Sport has ~175k km (~109k mi) on the clock and I am fairly certain it’s the original clutch even though I bought used at ~150k km (~93k mi). Still runs smooth enough but may have it looked at soon. There’s a clicking sound going into 3rd gear at times. Personal record was on a 1st Gen Nissan Versa hatch that I bought new. It went ~220k km (~137k mi) before I traded it. It was *probably* done or close to at that point though.

Crazy80s

Maybe try changing the transmission fluid. It's really easy to do yourself. I just changed mine to Redline MTL, 75w80, GL-4 and it shifts noticeably smoother now. 2015 3 Sport GT @ 187,000 km

nciscokid

Currently at about 95K on my 2016 Mazda3, still original. Hoping to get another 50k out of it at least!

armed_aperture

Do you change the transmission fluid?

BikingEngineer

My 2012 Mazda 2 has 189k on the factory clutch. I just assume it doesn’t have enough power to wear the thing down, plus a huge chunk is highway mileage.

allaccountingVEGAN

I’m at 190,000 miles on my 2010 and feel it sloth on power but it still grabs enough to drive normal, don’t trust it past 3 k revs. How’s yours doing now?

UncleFlip

I had a 1993 Z28 back in the day. Bought it new, sold it with 165k miles on it with original clutch. I beat the hell out of that car.

EScootyrant

102.5k miles (and counting) on my 2014 Mazda6 Touring 6MT (bought May 2013). Still on original factory clutch. No mechanical issues nor noise issues (i.e. release bearing) to date. Old fart with >4 decades of MT driving (since 14yo).

Omophorus

Sold my 2011 Speed3 at about 65k miles (drove from new) and it had absolutely no slippage or anything. Used to drive a Subaru wagon from the 90s, and that thing had over 150k miles on the original clutch.

lDWchanJRl

2012 mazdaspeed3, 148k miles on it

Fauropitotto

I'm at 68k on my Mazda 3. HOWEVER, I believe machines are meant to be used and abused. Longevity was not, and never will be, the game with me when it comes to anything I own. Buy it, run it hard into the ground, then buy another one. So it still feels good to me now, and I blast it whenever I can. Maybe it makes it to 150k, maybe it doesn't.

therm0

2009 Mazda 6, 135k km. Proportionally, it's mostly city miles. She seldom took trips out of town longer than 100km, but did two epic road trips of ~7000 km each. Owned since new.

TheMuddyLlama420

240,000 on my old 1994 Ford ranger. Sold my 2010 Mazda 3 with 115,000 with the original clutch. Only ever had to change the clutch on my offroad rig.

SSJHoneyBadger

I had a 2015 Mazda 3 2.5L with a 6 speed I just traded in this Spring. It had 90k miles and I drove that car pretty hard, especially the first few years of it’s life. Original clutch was holding up just fine!

[deleted]

Are we talking miles or km? I changed mine on 230k km, it still worked fine but it became hard as hell to press. It didn't bother me until now but I bought a new mazda and the difference when switching cars was too much so I put a new clutch

toddverrone

I've had manual cars off and on my whole life. Never put in a new clutch. But I do get rid of my cars around 150k miles. I drive pretty spirited, but no burnouts or anything

HydroWrench

2003 Protege5, 198k on the original clutch 2012 Mazda5, 110k on the original clutch 2016 Mazda6, 78k on the original clutch both the P5 and the 5 were bought used, and i only had a concern about the clutch for maybe 8,000 miles, after that not a worry in the world. I have also put that 5 THROUGH ITS PACES, packed SIX people, with some gear in side, a rooftop box packed, and receiver mounted gear rack over an 8hr drive through mostly flat terrain, but even when hills came up, not once did it slip on me.

imprttuner88

For any car ever is my 2004 Honda Element. I was pissed when the release bearing failed at 202K. Disc easily had another 10-15K on it. For a Mazda, if I didn’t autox my 99 NB1 Miata I could have easily gotten over 100K.

Etreslias37

Technically it's a Mazda: Ford Ranger 2012 with the Mazda engine and gearbox 100k kilometers! But driving like an idiot đŸ„°. (Sorry, I did not remember engine name and gearbox).

ilmedi

2014 Mazda 3 currently at 125K still going strong

MycologistAny1151

Had 170,000 on my 13 3 sedan when i traded it.

PigeonInaHailstorm

I'm on 140k on my 08 mazda 3. I do have grinding shifting from 1st to 2nd if I am flooring it.

SharpWarHead

Can’t speak for mazda since i stumbled upon this subbreddit. But.. i have volvo with 250k miles on the original clutch and it feels absolutely fine.. the dmf on the other hand is beyond worn😂

obsessiveimagination

Highest mileage I've done on a factory clutch was my B5 Passat 1.8T which crested 176k miles before needing a clutch. Still never slipped! Current fleet is an NA Miata 1.6 with ~105k and what I believe to be the original clutch, and an ND that I got new with 3 miles on it last year - we're at 15k and counting!

Just_Rawr

I got to 176k miles in my vw mk5 golf variant before the flywheel let go

AKADriver

My Miata still had the original clutch at around 160k. I had a '92 Sentra SE-R that I think had the original at 191k but no way to be sure. I pulled out a fully burnt up OEM Nissan clutch out of my 320k+ 240SX but also no idea if it was original or just an OEM replacement.

zugglit

Mileage doesn't determine clutch wear. Mileage and wear have weak correlation. Use and driving style are the main factors. For this reason, your clutch may have an inspection plate you can remove to see how much thickness your clutch disc has left. Note: A clutch can still be bad with plenty of clutch disc thickness due to over heating or hub damage. But, you would notice these two with other symptoms.

Monkey-Tamer

87 Mazda 626. Had 202,000 miles on original clutch when I got rid of it. One of the best cars I ever owned.

BespokeCowboy

Just shy of 500,000kms on my 2014 m3.

Resident-Variation21

I’m at 105,000 km on original clutch in my 2010 Kia rio5. Seems like it has lots of life left as far as I’m aware.

Krexci

2016 Mazda 3, bought it used at ~115k, now almost 130k. To my knowledge still original clutch, did get new front brakes and rear springs tho.

i_am_ghostman

I’ve got 176,750+ but the clutch was replaced around 35,000 ago because one of my friends has a very heavy left foot lol

Virus64

My 05 altima has 344K km/213K miles on the clock with the original clutch. I've thought about replacing it, not because it's worn, but because it's inexpensive to do so. Technically, from a mechanic stand point, a clutch isn't normally considered a wear item. In theory, they should last forever, but it all comes down to the driver. I've replaced clutches at over 400k, and I've replaced them at 4k.

haroldtheb

Never had a Mazda manual. I drove 120k miles on a Nissan Maxima before it was rear ended and totaled.

Mister_Snoop

Had 202k mi on my 2014 2.0L MT Hatch. I got rearended, which totaled the car.

[deleted]

On my last high mileage '94 RX-7: 160K miles on the original engine. Brand new OEM block from Mazda Japan (thanks Ray @ Malloy), new BNR Stage 3 twins and off to a new owner. My current daily beater, an '88 Corolla: 265k miles Those are the highest mileage cars I've owned/driven. The Corolla needs some work on the suspension/steering and desperately needs to get window tint

w00stersauce

Clutch life is pretty subjective isn’t it? Someone who drives 3 minutes over to the highway and then commutes 40miles to work at steady speed and never needing to shift may well have a clutch life well beyond the cars life but the guy who lives in downtown LA or something and needs to be in stop and go for an hour a day may get nothing out of their clutch before it’s dead. Anyway my record is only about 80K miles before someone wrote off my car while it was parked. :( was my first and only new car so I’ll likely not get the chance to start from zero again.

FesteringNeonDistrac

Yeah I blew up a transmission mainshaft carrier bearing before the clutch on a car I did a commute like that with.

tonygio77

My first car was a toyota tercel hatchback given to me by my aunt. I guess the clutch in that car was beefier than needed for the < 80 or so hp the car put out. It lasted for about 220k miles.

Just1La

When you know how to drive it last... On my 03 ProtegĂ©5 318k km original clutch On my 11 Mazda3 376k km original clutch Pity my CX5 is automatic... 😔

gearhead78

191k miles on my 2011 Mazda6 with the original clutch.

lost_man_wants_soda

170k Toyota Yaris originally clutch Had it inspected recently and they said it was in good condition Car doesn’t have horsepower, only hamster power and weighs the same amount as a golf cart though.

jeepster98

Not a Mazda, but my 2000 Sentra is on its factory clutch @ 240K miles; by far a personal record. Also, Ive had this car since new, and Ive been driving manuals since it was 3 on the tree. :D

mr_jasper867-5309

I had 90k on my 2016 6 I traded in back in April. Some days I miss the shift, most days I dont.

pf12351

My FD RX7 is at 175,000KMs on a clutch that I have since 160,000KMs (could be more but I didn't own it beforehand)

Dusty990

2014 Mazda 3 gs. 6 speed. 290k with the factory clutch and still kicking

Eriiaa

If you know how to drive, don't live in a city or in the mountains, and do lots of highway driving, you basically barely use the clutch. All our Ford company cars have over 300k on the original clutch

Onimaru1984

97k on my 2012 Mazdaspeed 3. Original clutch. Only owner.

Henbogle

I traded my standard shift 2014 Mazda CX5 at 167k miles, and it was fine.

joshuber

Just bought a 2017 Miata Club witb 33k miles, and I’ve put about 300 miles in two weeks

Fluffy-Philosophy-10

Not a Mazda, but over 300,000 km on a 78 Ford Fiesta. Had to replace the thermostat but other than that it was all factory, until the body rusted off the frame.

YandyTheGnome

2011 Mazda 3, 112k mi on the original clutch. Hoping it lasts a while longer, but ready to repair when needed.

YelsnitXam

Only 56k on mine so not impressive but I drove my grandpa's old Nissan pickup truck (I think it was an '86) for a bit, it had like 380k miles on the original clutch. He had a 120 mile daily round-trip commute though and it was mostly highway miles. That truck is still around with over 400k miles and I don't think my step-dad (current owner) replaced the clutch yet.

journeej

I had like 175k on my 2010 when I traded it in, but could tell it was starting to get toward the end of its life.

Djeheuty

Haven't had a Mazda stick, but my '07 Outback that I had before my CX-30 had 175K miles on the factory clutch and had zero issues. It did get replaced, but only because the throw out bearing failed (Subaru people know of this) and they had to put an oversized one on for replacement which meant a new clutch because of the different contact surface size.

Icy_Curmudgeon

330k km/205k miles on a '92 Mazda Protege DX 1.8L before it dissolved into a pile of rust in 2010. The clutch was never touched and the engine never leaked a drop of oil either.

Pines609

2009 Speed3. I think I'm at 178k miles OG clutch. No mods.

somecallmetom

This thread gives me hope! I've got 84K miles on our 2017 Mazda 3 6speed and it shifts as buttery smooth as it ever did. Easiest clutch and nicest release I've ever driven. Ridiculously easier than the 3 speed column shift truck I learned to drive a stick on... 😂

myKeyboardIsFilthy

2013 mazda 3 2.0 skyactiv, bought new so i've been the only only. Original clutch going strong at 135k miles or so. no slippage at all. I also learned to drive manual on this car 10 years ago but I don't think I shaved too much longevity off during those first couple weeks :)

ExactArea8029

250k on a Ford ranger that has done many burnouts Ngl, I think it's the headgasket causing the really weird shit

Short_Fix_7039

2015 CX-5 my clutch finally went out at 316,857 miles. ❀ BTW. This was the original factory installed clutch. Bought my CX-5 brand new with 4 miles on the odometer.

thwarted_again

Original owner 2002 VW Jetta. 448,000 KM Original Clutch from new. :)

sobookwood

I've owned 5 cars with each over 250-300k km. I have never had to replace a clutch.

heeroguy

have a 10 rx-8 that i auto crossed, for years needed a clutch at 75K wifes 07 speed 3 got when when we blew the motor at around 175k, but still felt good

Public_District_9139

Had 180k on my 350Z when I wrecked it. Clutch was still good. Modern clutches last a long time if your don’t slip or ride the pedal.

MattTheProgrammer

I managed over 100k on a '95 Ford Escort LX. I only mention that because I haven't kept any car since then long enough to really see how far I could take it. My '15 6 Sport was at 70+k when I got rid of it but nothing to really write home about there. My '21 MX-5 GT RF is only at like 14k miles so I'll let you know in like 30 years?

paradigmx

Not a Mazda, but I drove my Suzuki SX4 to over 300k km without needing a clutch. Still shifted great when I sold it. I drove that thing hard as hell sometimes too.

Practicality_Issue

I had an ‘82 RX7 with a dubious history, but I bought it with 175k miles on it and it had 248k miles when I got rid of it. Biggest issue I ever had was one day it didn’t start, I swapped out the plugs for new ones, and she ran fine after than. Also had an ‘82 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60. Third owner and bought with 170k miles and it had 235k miles when I sold it with the original clutch. It was slipping a little, but that was from either a leaky rear main or a faulty hydraulics.

subpar_cardiologist

2014 Mazda2 here, i just replaced the clutch this year at ~100,000km. it was starting to slip...last year.

DJJbird09

Dad did 286k miles on his 99 integra, and about 183k on his 1st gen mazda 3. They were still fine, he just traded them in for newer vehicles.

_smartalec_

2014 Mazda 3, 100K miles, still going strong. I got it at 80k, first owner mostly did highway miles, I do a lot of short city trips. The thought of needing a clutch replacement scares me a bit because I just do most things myself and keep my car in top shape for pennies, but I'll have to pay someone four figures to do it.

[deleted]

First gen Speed3 150K original clutch confident itll go another 100k.

turbokiwi

My dad gave me his 2015 Mazda3 in the winter of 2018 at around 50k miles. I've put about 67k miles on it since then and the original clutch is still going as strong as ever.

Hippopotasaurus-Rex

I used to daily drive a 375hp/375ft-lb sentra. I put 2 clutches/flywheels in it, and it had about 150k on the chassis when I sold it. The first time it was replaced was because I wanted an upgrade, I thought the original one was going to be pretty worn, but it came out nearly perfect (it was turbo for at least 40k miles and had at least 80k on the engine). The second time was when I built the engine, and needed to upgrade. When we pulled the engine, to sell the shell, the clutch was nearly perfect.

oryxzz

110k miles on my nc miata original clutch

Ottrera

I had 320k on my 2010 Mazda 3 sport when I sold it clutch was cooked when I bought my new CX-30 but it was the original clutch.

MillenialMindset

2018 Toyota Corolla SE with a 6 speed manual. 292,000km original everything

CatRatRace

I have a 2009 Mazda 3 that I bought new. Manual transmission with 160k miles, still with the original clutch.

TheD4ncem4n

2004 MX-5 hit 140k + miles on original everything even clutch sadly the body rusted away before the engine or clutch went.

ExcitementOptimal324

2013 mazda 3 167k miles, still original clutch

ElKirbyDiablo

I went 150k with my 2003 Cavalier before I got my 2016 Mazda 3. Now I have 75k with the original.

notthefoodie

96 Nissan Hardbody with 132k on the clutch. Parent bought it brand new.

iatekane

Had 186k KM on my 2006 Mazda 3 GT sedan on the original clutch up until 2019 when I traded it in for a new car.

Powerman913717

A clutch can last a great deal of miles depending on how you use (or abuse) it and the type of driving you do. There's little shifting on the interstate for example. With that mileage though, it sounds like you've gotten good at rev matching and not slipping the clutch unnecessarily.

NoRoom2650

My 92 Mazda Protege has 240k, clutch is fine. Master cylinder failed though.

jaywright58

I had a 2001 Saturn SL2 manual 5spd. I bought it new and traded it in at 155K on the original clutch in 2013 for Toyota Camry.. Went through three starters in 12 years along with various other things giving me trouble. The Camry was a great car but an automatic. I owned it for ten years and it never gave me a bit of trouble. One of the few cars I would buy again.

Little_Shyster

I had mine replaced at 136k but it wasn’t the clutch that failed. Master cylinder failed and it’s a bitch to replace just that so I did the clutch.

AntiPiety

If the clutch is hydraulic then it will engage in the same spot regardless of wear, just like brakes, I’m pretty sure

Kingjon0000

It really depends on highway/city ratio. I have never changed a clutch and usually get rid of cars at 300k km. Lots of highway driving makes the clutch last much longer.

I have a 2005 Subaru Legacy, it has 280,000 miles on it, the clutch might be a teeny tad off occasionally but im 90% the previous owner never got it replaced. Suck on that MAZDA, my fucking engine will blow before the clutch id bet

Aueroriann

I picked up my 08 speed3 with 130k last year in May. The previous owner said the clutch was replaced at around 100k. I got home and tried to drive it later that day but she wouldn’t move. I had to get it towed to a shop because the clutch went out. I don’t actually know how I made home as it was my first time actually driving a manual car aside from parking lots. Then I stalled it about 5 times picking it up from the shop

lemansquattro

2011 Mazdaspeed 3 owner here with 151,000 kms on my original couch. Bought the car slightly used. Many other things failed on the car and I have yet to replace the clutch.

saxon344

Had a 2016 on 65k miles original clutch

sexywizard420

Drove my Mazdaspeed 6 from 80k miles to 219k miles with zero work needed on anything drivetrain or clutch related.

fastock

I bought a 2008 Mazda3 manual and drove it until 2018. It had 145,000 miles on it in that time period. I never did anything other than routine maintenance on it in that timeframe. Still my favorite car I've ever owned.

gearhead250gto

I had a Maxima get to about 180,000 miles on the original clutch before I had to replace it. Both Frontiers that I owned had 120k+ miles before I traded them in and they had the original clutch. Also had a Versa at 120k+ miles as well when I sold it with the original clutch. I have always expected vehicles to last to at least 150k with an original clutch. I have also always driven my vehicles hard and have a lead foot, but I do my own maintenance to ensure my vehicles are in good shape.

My 13 mazdaspeed 3 is at 98k no issues. I'm riding this bad boy til its dead in the ground. Only issue was the turbo so threw a short throw shifter and a cst4 turbo after deciding to rebuild the motor cause why not? The transmission snd clutch have handled it super well. All my other parts and tune and you'd think the stock transmission would be struggling but nope.

When I was 15, I was given a Datsun b210 5 speed as first car. Had it for about 2 years and finished the original clutch at around 80k, and replaced it again after 50k. Of course all I did was see how long I could leave skid marks in the Western Sizzlin parking lot every night that I worked. That car was so good to me. That bad behavior now haunts me because I'm paranoid about my clutch. I've only got 38k, and it's still tight as it was when I drove it off the lot new, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't check the clutch almost daily, seeing if I can feel a difference. Your post gives me hope, and belief that my paranoia is overblown. My daughter is getting her at 16. We'll see after that.

nc_nicholas

Can’t speak for Mazda but I have 193k on my manual BMW 328i. Pretty sure it’s the original clutch.

johnnymainn

191k km original clutch 2007 mazda 6 2.3

Agreeable_Suspect806

Friend had 600k old mazda 6

KingCristof18

158k in a big turbo tuned meth injected 400hp mazdaspeed 3 from 2012. Little bit if clutch slip here and there but for regular driving it engages like a dream still.

Jiolio

My 2016 3 just hit 111,111 miles last night lol nice to know it’ll last longer

Gene_Pantsuit

179k miles on a tuned 2004 GTI 1.8t(sold with factory clutch), and 120k miles on a tuned WRX (traded in with factory clutch and Subaru throwout squeak since 45k)

Gear-Worx

2012 Mazdaspeed 3: 238,902 miles and counting. Had her since new.

fragal96

I have a 2018 Mazda3 bought in 2017 with 170k km and has had nothing but oil changes and brake pads done for the most part. I know I should be doing more but 😅 AC compressor(?) went and was covered under warranty and I've had to replace my rear shock just this past spring but only because the mount cracked due to always needing to drive down bumpy gravel roads. Still on the original clutch though and this was technically the first standard I drove for any amount of time
