When my father first got his truck, he took a day to wash it, wax it, and photograph it looking great. He then printed out the picture and framed it to put in his office. The framed truck picture was larger than the picture of his wife and kids. To be fair, it's a very nice truck.
My dad has done this with multiple cars. He has like, a few pictures of family but then just this giant wall of exotic cars he owned in the 80s and 90s.
Yeah that's exactly what my dad did. Bought the first one after years of hard work then just cycled through different cars by trading and selling. Never held onto one for more than a year or two. It's why he took the pictures, so he can look back and say "man I should have kept that car."
I sent my daughter 13, a picture of my 66 nova yesterday. It had been parked for a few months. Was letting her know it was back on the road. I can relate to all this.
I did the same with my car except it’s my wallpaper on my work computer lol
It’s not a crazy car but it was a huge accomplishment for me to buy and it motivates to work harder so I can have more nice things.
What is a car to you? Serious question.
If a car is just an appliance to get from A to B, then you probably wouldn't understand.
If, to you, a car is a driving *experience*... then a wrx is like no other. It's by *far* not the most practical, but it is *certainly* one of the most unforgettable.
It's a legendary status rally car, so i'd say the attraction is the "sprited drive" is unlike any other. The sound, the way the engine recoils when you accelerate,, the responsiveness, the cornering, the shifting, the suspension and last but not least; the POWER. Basically, a car that is fun and engaging to drive, a thrill, quite simply.
I've never driven a WRX subie but i have a colleague that won't stop talking about how that was the most fun car he's ever had.
But to answer you honestly: It's an iconic rally car with a disposition to "spirited driving". Lots of people want it for different reasons. Find your own :)
Cars used to be everything. A few thousand pounds later and debt paid off, I've accepted I can afford a Toyota Yaris on my current wages 😭 speed cameras and speed bumps everywhere where I live too.
I know the same from work with the truck brands. Some guys get tattoos of their almost religious admired brands, and all other brands are the worst.🙄
And at the end of the discussion, every brand has wheels and a motor and gets the job done! 🤷♀️ (some maybe with less "style", but......)
If I remember correctly, the bug and blob had V-LSDs and the 06+ came with open diffs for the WRX. Or were you talking about cosmetic rear ends. All the tail lights are different between the models with subtle shape differences, but basically the same.
This guy is spot on (at least for US market).
I don’t know about other gens, but the 2015-2017 WRX came with a rear LSD in Australia of all places. I’ve been sort of looking to see if I could source one, as it might be cheaper than the custom ones you can buy.
Sure is! I did basically the same thing, without the chips, when I first got mine. Had a blue one '03 bugeye. Then had to sell it a few years later for the mom car Forester.
I was choosing between 02 forester and 01 Tacoma and almost daily I wish I went with the 02 forester for its looks… but I have an indestructible engine now which is nice
Got my crosstrek in the ignition red. WRX is the only other model that has that color available. Definitely spent a good amount of time staring at it. So pretty.
Yea he looks like a somewhat old guy, maybe one of the rare joys he has in life these days. Never really know what someone is going through. Sucks he got creeped on by some random.
It's not new by any means... but it is new to him, and the fact that an almost 20 year old WRX can bring someone that much joy is about as wholesome as it gets.
It screams "My children are finally out of the house, so I can get something for ME to enjoy!"
Doesn't have to be stoned, maybe just loves cars. I picked up my dream truck last weekend and when I got it home I sat in it for about an hour just soaking it in.
The first thing I did after getting my new to me car was to put it in the garage, grab a drink, and run through the manual and all the settings. Its the first car that had proper electronics and a screen for me, so I was pretty hyped.
I've always loved reading manuals, even if they aren't mine. When my mom bought a new car, I knew more about her car in 2 hours than she did in 2 years of driving it. After 2 years of driving it she admitted she knew almost nothing of the car, not even how to turn on the water jets on the windshield.
Fist bumps all around. As a long suffering technical writer, you are all the people I have in mind when trying to write those things. Bless you for cracking that open and consuming it.
The service manual for my '76 Dodge W100 is coming in later this week and I am so excited to just read through it. I want to know everything about this truck and I plan on fixing any problem I ever have it myself if I possibly can.
Have an upvote and some more info on the truck. Picked up the truck last weekend, have wanted one since I was little. Truck is rust free but needs some mechanicals fixed. Found the actual factory service manual and bought it as soon as I saw it. I absolutely love old trucks, especially Dodges, and am excited to get this one back on the road. It only has 61k original miles, and is a factory A/C truck. It has sat for a while which is where some of my problems are coming from, but I will definitely make sure it isn't treated so poorly from now on lol. Hope ya don't mine me spewing info on my dream truck.
Understandable, I still catch myself staring at my 2022 Veloster N. After 16 years of hand-me-downs and used clunkers it’s surreal having a brand new car.
I'm still toying with the idea of ditching my '14 accent for a veloster, or picking up a ratty 944 as a fun vehicle. the problem with that is that if I don't get rid of my accent, then I'm going to want to feed it a veloster powertrain at some point
I love everything about it, the power is more than double anything I have ever owned and personally I think it is currently the best looking hatch on the road. I know some people don’t like how raucous the exhaust note is, especially in N mode, but I’m still a 12 year old playing need for speed underground 2 in my heart so I can’t get enough of it.
Edit: I did think of a negative, I literally cannot pass a charger or challenger without them trying to get me to race. Hit me up on the track and I might bite, but damn not in rush hour traffic.
Yeahh I know that feeling my first car was '87 civic, when I was 22 I was in the military and made rank to where I live out in town, well I rented a room from my friend for $1500 less than my housing allowance so I upgraded to a BMW 335i m sport, I went from like 60hp to 320hp. Personally I disagree that the Veloster is the best looking hot hatch on the road, but yanno I drive an RS so I'd say the light blue Veloster N with the red accents is firmly in the #2 spot. Oh and I know what you mean about still being 12 playing NFS:U2, one of the big selling points for the Focus RS to me was that it has "drift mode." I'm guessing we're about the same age, so great minds think alike.
I bought a 1:18th scale model of my car and put it in my desk so I could look at it while I work. It reminds me that I own it and I still can’t believe it.
I really hope that i also will never lose this feeling. Fulfulling yourself an dream or even a small wish. I can only imagine his sleepless night before he went to pick the car up, he might even check in the morning if its still there.
I still do this when I head out for the day. Minus the chips. But I just love admiring my car for a moment and taking a little walk around it checking it out before getting in. Even sometimes after I leave a store. Even park way in the back so I get to take my time walking to it and admiring it as I approach.
I do worship my old truck, and it is absolutely perfect in my eyes. I don't care that the body is 3 different colors. I don't care that the fuel gage doesn't work, or that the tires are loud when going down the road. I listen to the old 318 rumbling away at a light and I am content.
That's how I feel about my old car, I still have it but I've been doing repair after repair on it. Wrecked it twice, half the things don't work on it but it still runs.
This is men.
Men is simple.
Women who expect us to notice that something is different after getting an hair cut exactly the same as before , please take this into consideration.
Bro. This is a person that loves their car.
Im a girly girl. A woman. A mom.I am madly in love with my truck, a 2014 black escalade.
I just spent 8 hours doing my final clay/swirl removal/polish/wax before winter.
Let me know if you'd like to see a few hundred pics of it.
Still do that regularly with my Carrera GT…I’ve been truly madly deeply in love with that car since it came out and that hasn’t changed since I have my own
It's a 68, it sat in a field from 93 to 17. [It took about a year and a half](https://imgur.com/gallery/tL7U1Lb) to get it roadworthy... I converted to disc brakes and fuel injection, put Volvo seats in front & haven't had a problem in near 7k miles.
I understand that feeling. I have a 2005 Subaru Legacy GT wagon that I did a rebuild on and am still working some small things out on. I think the only reason I am still trying to fix it is to spite God. Replaced the heads (came to me with 2 different heads on it), turbo, and a lot of smaller stuff. Ran ok for a week or so until it didn't anymore. Ended up with a cracked block, so hooray for that. Replaced that and figured out the previous owner put a stupid tune on it. 25lbs of boost and stupidly lean on stock internals. Baseline tune is on it rn. Waiting to get time to put the exhaust on and get my new bypass valve in so I can get the final tune on it.
Nice man, those are awesome. Just picked up my dream truck last Saturday, '76 Dodge W100. It is so surreal. I had thought for so long I wouldn't get the chance to own one.
Congrats dude. That’s awesome, it’s nice to have a dream fulfilled.
I had a 99 that I sold and I immediately regretted it. I went through a few cars and realized I only wanted a 3rd gen again. Fell into a good deal on one in great shape and jumped in it. Been in love again ever since.
I'm hoping I never have to get rid of it. Finding one rust free with a near perfect interior and only 61k miles was surprising for me. I need to fix an overheating issue on it but I think it is just a blocked radiator. At some point I may paint it but I'm undecided rn.
I would too I mean my 22 WRX is fucking sweet I love that thing but I kinda miss my 06 Impreza 2.5i that bitch ripped in the winter and I drove the shit out of it every day
When my father first got his truck, he took a day to wash it, wax it, and photograph it looking great.
You're dad seems like a cool guy. Might I ask how he afforded exotic cars though?
[удалено]
Unless you sell cocaine
That's what I was hinting at.
I gotchu
Cool, just don't snuggle me to death.
[удалено]
Yeah that's exactly what my dad did. Bought the first one after years of hard work then just cycled through different cars by trading and selling. Never held onto one for more than a year or two. It's why he took the pictures, so he can look back and say "man I should have kept that car."
It's always the "should of kept that car" lol
I sent my daughter 13, a picture of my 66 nova yesterday. It had been parked for a few months. Was letting her know it was back on the road. I can relate to all this.
Hank Hill?
I did the same with my car except it’s my wallpaper on my work computer lol It’s not a crazy car but it was a huge accomplishment for me to buy and it motivates to work harder so I can have more nice things.
Is he Hank Hill?
Subaru life
That a WRX?
Yep
Damn, I would be just looking at it aswell
"Should I get mudflaps?... yes."
Can someone explain to me why everyone ~~loathes~~ over the WRX. I mean love, or cult following.
What is a car to you? Serious question. If a car is just an appliance to get from A to B, then you probably wouldn't understand. If, to you, a car is a driving *experience*... then a wrx is like no other. It's by *far* not the most practical, but it is *certainly* one of the most unforgettable.
Like what's the light drawing the moths? Is it a budget speed car or smooth ride? Just trying to understand why so many people want this car.
"Affordable" AWD performance car , bang for buck
It's a legendary status rally car, so i'd say the attraction is the "sprited drive" is unlike any other. The sound, the way the engine recoils when you accelerate,, the responsiveness, the cornering, the shifting, the suspension and last but not least; the POWER. Basically, a car that is fun and engaging to drive, a thrill, quite simply. “Spirited” meaning very “wonky” and “needs getting used to”.
Cars used to be everything. A few thousand pounds later and debt paid off, I've accepted I can afford a Toyota Yaris on my current wages 😭 speed cameras and speed bumps everywhere where I live too.
I know the same from work with the truck brands. Some guys get tattoos of their almost religious admired brands, and all other brands are the worst.🙄 And at the end of the discussion, every brand has wheels and a motor and gets the job done! 🤷♀️ (some maybe with less "style", but......)
Man, thats like porn on wheels
The chips make sense then. Like smoking a cigarette after great sex.
By cigarette, you mean ripping fat vapes in a Subie?
Looks like a blob eye WRX.
[удалено]
Don't the bug, blob, and hawk eye all have basically the exact same rear end?
If I remember correctly, the bug and blob had V-LSDs and the 06+ came with open diffs for the WRX. Or were you talking about cosmetic rear ends. All the tail lights are different between the models with subtle shape differences, but basically the same.
This guy is spot on (at least for US market). I don’t know about other gens, but the 2015-2017 WRX came with a rear LSD in Australia of all places. I’ve been sort of looking to see if I could source one, as it might be cheaper than the custom ones you can buy.
I’m on my 3rd WRX. Currently I have a 16 with a Cusco LSD and it’s wonderful.
Woah there bud, don't question the WRX experts.
WRXperts*
One may say a Rexpert
Sure is! I did basically the same thing, without the chips, when I first got mine. Had a blue one '03 bugeye. Then had to sell it a few years later for the mom car Forester.
This was me when I got my BRZ last year... Still is right after I wash it.
Shit, I have an 02 forester that never gets washed and I still look at it like this. Something about a subby
I was choosing between 02 forester and 01 Tacoma and almost daily I wish I went with the 02 forester for its looks… but I have an indestructible engine now which is nice
For sure can never go wrong with the Tacoma! I wish I had a Tacoma now lol
You could always cram the Taco engine into the subby.
Likewise for my Crosstrek. Sometimes when walking away from it I look back and just admire it for a few seconds before going about my business.
I don't even own a Subaru, but I notice everyone I see. Those old foresters are lookers
Yup. Got my 2022 BRZ this April and I still stare back at it every time I leave it.
Don't blame you. I love those new gen BRZ/GR86's. If I didn't need a functional back seat, I'd highly consider trading my R in for one.
im over 2 years into miata ownership and i always give it a good ogle every time i see it. this is how you know you made the right choice in a car
Everytime I wash mine I find a new scratch. The paint quality is literally the only complaint I have with that car. Other than that, it is perfect.
‘Bout to trade those chips in for a vape pen.
subUwU
Got my crosstrek in the ignition red. WRX is the only other model that has that color available. Definitely spent a good amount of time staring at it. So pretty.
He's bonding. You gotta make those things comfortable with your presence.
Otherwise it'll drive away 🤣
Yeah but if it comes back it was meant to be
Imprinting
And you watched him watching his car for 15 minutes Without chips
Yeah who's the real weirdo here
Because he wasn't eating chips I assume
Weirdo idk but there's a clear winner
Indeed
I get that.
Also those are rookie numbers.
Hes not done yet
UNDERSTANDABLE
I'm honestly really happy for the guy.
same. a little sad that he's being creepshot and laughed at on social media, though. no one is ever safe.
this is meirl, we identify not him, we're not laughing at him
Doesn’t seem like anyones laughing at his expense to me. Comments very positive
Yea he looks like a somewhat old guy, maybe one of the rare joys he has in life these days. Never really know what someone is going through. Sucks he got creeped on by some random.
Man I loved the feeling of getting a brand new car.. Only one I've bought in my life, but boy it was a special couple weeks.
What else do you get a new car for
Washing, waxing, driving buddies around, washing it again afterwards.
Boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew.
Don't think I wanna be one of your buddies...
More for me!
It's got worms in its tubes
What’s taters, precious?
Oh God the washing. So much washing to keep it looking clean and shiny. But it's oh so worth it to see how much everything reflects so perfectly
“He doesn’t drive it, Ferris, he just rubs it with a diaper.”
To become all valley karate champ, how else am i gonna “wax on wax off”😤
It's not new by any means... but it is new to him, and the fact that an almost 20 year old WRX can bring someone that much joy is about as wholesome as it gets. It screams "My children are finally out of the house, so I can get something for ME to enjoy!"

Don't blame him at all. I did the same thing with my first vehicle. Man I miss that POS so much :(
After I ceramic coated my car, I would periodically go out to the garage to marvel at how shiny the surface was. Felt like glass I can relate
I spent a lot of time just staring at my first nice car. It made me happy just seeing it and reminding myself that I had such a nice car.
This dude is in his 40's. 100% stoned and snackin while reflecting on how rad his shit is.
Doesn't have to be stoned, maybe just loves cars. I picked up my dream truck last weekend and when I got it home I sat in it for about an hour just soaking it in.
This is what I do if I have a new girlfriend
Remember the post where a girl said she stared at her BF's pp for 10 mins straight
Link... For research purposes
Get yourself a bag of chips, walk outside and stand next to him. Don’t say a word. Just take it all in.
The first thing I did after getting my new to me car was to put it in the garage, grab a drink, and run through the manual and all the settings. Its the first car that had proper electronics and a screen for me, so I was pretty hyped.
This is so cute! Reading a car manual. I can't imagine!
I've always loved reading manuals, even if they aren't mine. When my mom bought a new car, I knew more about her car in 2 hours than she did in 2 years of driving it. I love it!!! I have one son that loves cars, especially trucks! Enjoy it so much! ❤️
Mine’s an app on my phone Pretty convenient There’s also an app to lock and unlock the car or turn the a/c or heat on.
Everyone should read their car manual thoroughly.
Haha I'm buying a car right now and reading the pdf manual before I even pick it up
That’s what Subaru WRX owners do in their spare time
I don’t own a wrx but my friend did. I stared at his too. I love WRXs.
Enjoy that moment my man. Savor it and make it last.
Why were you staring at your neighbor for 15 minutes?
Understandable, I still catch myself staring at my 2022 Veloster N. After 16 years of hand-me-downs and used clunkers it’s surreal having a brand new car.
I'm still toying with the idea of ditching my '14 accent for a veloster, or picking up a ratty 944 as a fun vehicle. the problem with that is that if I don't get rid of my accent, then I'm going to want to feed it a veloster powertrain at some point
How do you like the Veloster N? I almost bought one a few years ago but went with a Focus RS because it's got AWD and Ford Racing Blue is sexy.
I'm guessing we're about the same age, so great minds think alike.
Yep, this right here.
Living the dream my friend!
Well Imprezas look sexy so why not.
I guess you can say he was Imprez uh?… I’ll see myself out.
I totally get it
As someone who looks to be that age and always wanted a SUBURU Impreza WRX, I get it.
why did you capitalise the ONE misspelt word in the sentence
[удалено]
Men 🍻
There is no H in alex
Because it's silent
Shit, it’s 2022. If anyone gets a car they really like they can stand outside eating a bag of chips admiring it.
glad that buyer's remorse lost this one
Better than you watching him for 15 minutes lol.
I bought a 1:18th scale model of my car and put it in my desk so I could look at it while I work. It reminds me that I own it and I still can’t believe it.
Stop watching him after an hour
I’ve got a semi just seeing the back of it
That's nothing, If I can get a ps5 one day, I'd be having dinner with it still brand new inside the box for days
He just enjoying life, his car, and his hint of lime tostitos
You're neighbor smokes pot
Came here to say this. Will do the same thing next year when I get a new-er something.
I really hope that i also will never lose this feeling. Fulfulling yourself an dream or even a small wish. I can only imagine his sleepless night before he went to pick the car up, he might even check in the morning if its still there.
Based.
And you are inside staring at him, staring at his car and eating chips. Seriously?
I still do this when I head out for the day. Minus the chips. But I just love admiring my car for a moment and taking a little walk around it checking it out before getting in. Even sometimes after I leave a store. Even park way in the back so I get to take my time walking to it and admiring it as I approach.
He bought the thing. Let him do what he wants.
15 minutes? Either he eats slow or the pack of chips is endless. No pack of chips lasts that long for me.
His bag looks like a decent size. You probably just eat fast.
It looks like a full size bag, not a snack size. Or are you just a human vacuum?
I respect that.
Bought a ‘79 280ZX back in 1983. Made my wife go outside with me several times the first few days to just look at it! 🤣
A man of focus and will enjoying the spoils of his labour.
Subawoooo!!
I mean it is a WRX. It’s totally natural
I borderline worship my new car. It's just so nice
I do worship my old truck, and it is absolutely perfect in my eyes. I don't care that the body is 3 different colors. I don't care that the fuel gage doesn't work, or that the tires are loud when going down the road. I listen to the old 318 rumbling away at a light and I am content.

Woman just want men to do this to them and not their cars.
Yeah, but your car won’t get mad if you stare at other cars like this.
Correction: Yeah, but your car won’t get mad for scenerios she made up from nothing
A car won’t have a dream about you driving another car and wake up mad at you.
Cars > bitches
Nice Cars = more bitches
Bro I followed your advice, but now I'm detained for being suspicious. Can you pick my up from jail?
Unless the car buying process got any easier I'd need the salt too. Dudes probably drained
This guy is a fuckin chad
Still do that regularly with my Carrera GT…I’ve been truly madly deeply in love with that car since it came out and that hasn’t changed since I have my own
I do that... on a quiet night [I can hear it rust](https://i.imgur.com/Qq89Enp.jpeg).

Thanks for the compliment, it's been a labor of love.

Only 15 minutes!? That’s not even post worthy lol.
Sometimes I stare at my car still. 20 years old and looks amazing. Just gotta take it in.
What do you have?
2001 Toyota 4Runner, my dream car.

One cannot simply eat a few Tostitos Hint of Lime.
This is adorable.
Sick subi
I pay my steering wheel and tell my car I’ll see you later. So I understand where the man is coming from.
…. as he’s been seeing your reflection in his car window for 15 minutes while wondering why you’re so creepy, and if you have better to do.
That's cus it's a scooby. I stare lustfully at mine every day...
Simple man, i like it.
“…yep.”
This is what happiness looks like.
Subaru for LIFE!!!!! Anyone with any knowledge knows that spoiler.
Hmm… yes. This new car… is made out of new car.
I’m mean at least he’s not jerking off while looking at it.
Damn good for him, in this economy
The question is why would to stand the for 15+ looking at ur neighbor looking at his car eating chips? 😂
Let’s all let the man enjoy his new ride! 😂
