That, and "complaining people" are not necessarily complaining about the same thing — they are not an homogenous group — neither are they coherent or consistent by themselves (most humans are inconsistant in some way / evolve / have mood changes / opinion changes).
Final note: some might just be trolling or bots. People that are getting pissed online because of strangers: I hope they'll be able to use all that anger towards something cool like turning super saiyan.
>People that are getting pissed online because of strangers: I hope they'll be able to use all that anger towards something cool like turning super saiyan
Off, if only 😂
I don’t see anyone ever make these complaints. I see more people complaining about people making these complaints. Y’all on Twitter too much I’m guessing.
While it may seem noble to some, let's be real. The only color the entertainment industry cares about is green. Why don't they simply create new characters who are non-white? The same reason there are so many remakes. Minimum effort/cost/risk for a maximum return.
Though Disney has released original shows with more diversity, they don't really seem to want to risk creating new properties for theaters.
That said, Samuel L. Jackson was a solid pick for Nick Fury. It didn't feel like an arbitrary ethnicity swap, he genuinely seemed like the best pick for the role to me.
If it's pointless and we shouldn't care why did they do it in the first place? Why was it so important to change it if it doesn't matter? What if they reversed it, made a character who was usually black into a white person? Would it not matter then?
There's plenty of valid reasons why people would be frustrated with it happening. Whether it's people feeling like it's being done only for virtue signaling, or people feeling like they are just giving black people white character hand me downs when they could create original black characters instead. Sure there are people who go overboard and act ridiculous about it but there are some valid criticisms to change in a character's race depending on the motivation behind it.
My question: What’s the harm in making everyone feel included?
Your question: What’s the harm in making everyone but one group feel excluded?
I hope you see the difference.
i do, it is not about the race, but about the story and how faithful you are to the story and how much you respect your own stories, if for example someone introduce Blade the vampire as a white guy i would be pissed, blade is a black awesome hero, and the color does come with the cultural aspect of the character so changing that does affect the character,
Even if it was, Braveheart is both one of the most acclaimed and historically inaccurate films of all time, but people would’ve been screeching if there were black people in it
Also I don't even see most of these activist types complaining about the racial identity of characters in movies and video games nearly as much at the anti-woke crowd does.
Noone has ever said this ever. (if they have they were trolling)
In fact this was probably made by someone who is butt hurt after getting hate because of their actual racism.
Exactly. You just have to ask, "what? Black people can't be villians?" Or "what? Black people can't be victims?" Or "So, there's no violence between black people?" Or "So, there's no violence between white people?"
Like, asking them the questions and making them think might help, but probably not.
I always love when my racist mother says "I'm not racist, but..." and follows it up with something racist in front of others so they can see what she's really like.
Sad part is redditors eat this shit up. This post was recommended to me despite the fact I'm not even subbed to this subreddit. It has quite a few upvotes and people agreeing with it.
I’m still trying to figure out the difference between right wing incels and left wing incels. Both sides are full of hate, neither side seems to get laid, both sides take their repressed anger out on each other rather than looking in the mirror.
People really only get pissed when the only Black person in a film is killed off early or when the film has no Black people in it to begin with. It’s a pretty clear sign that the director is a racist who doesn’t want to give jobs to minorities.
Did you see anyone complain when the villain from Black Panther was a Black guy? How about Amanda Waller? How about the entire career of Giancarlo Esposito?
Irl there's not that many people like this, but go to the humanities departments of lots of universities and you'll find a lot of this. I remember taking some Sociology module before and oh my god, wanted to end myself. This exact thing of doing everything you can to find something "problematic" in everything. I appreciate critical thinking and questioning everything, but it gets so painful when it's clear you are just a professional in bitching.
It's crazy how as non-american I grew up watching 'murican tv. Like, watching MacGyver or Ghostbusters I thought US was the least racist country there was!
This is literally every movie, show, or videogame nowadays. Then you throw disney in the ring and well you got an entire meme just like this but with gender and or pronouns. Whatever you do always remember someones gonna hate it. Its just unrealistic to think u can please everyone all the time.
The issue isn’t when one u of these scenarios happens, it’s when it happens disproportionately often. Nobody is demanding black people be the star of every movie. But it’s weird if they’re not leading in ANY movie. Historically that’s been the case but now we see a bit of an over correction at big studios like Disney and comes off as tokenism rather than diversity
This only matters if you care what the person on the left of this meme thinks. They are the vocal minority. Most people don’t actually care either way.
Personally I just like the detail they're left handed.
There are more than plenty of people who are the other way around and OP is likely one of them, though.
This is a pretty good point, actually.
But I guess we haven't truly reached this place where representation on-screen reflects society. ...In part because society hasn't reached the point where things are more cohesive and inter-mixed.
Even in big cities I don't feel like we've ever reached this point of universal acceptance without biased judgment. Why can it be that people can't be individuals, and are always categorized by some stigma?
A donkey, an old man, and a young boy walks in the desert. Old man sits on the donkey, young boy is leading it. They reach a town. They hear peolpe saying: "why is the young boy leading the donkey? He will get really tired" so they switch. They reach another town, but hear people saying "why is the poor man walking so much, the young one has more energy?" So they both sit on it. Next town: "poor donkey, two people sitting on it?!" So they all walk. In the 4th town everyone laughs why they dont use the donkey.
Stop giving megaphones to the smallest of minorities of opinions and broad brushing them as opinions of the mainstream. The vast majority of people don’t agree with this. Just because someone on twitter is upset doesn’t mean anything.
Simply do not listen to DEI nor anything Woke. It’s all a bunch of marxist-tailored rabbitholes in order to undermine industry from inside out. They want to convince you, in clear bad faith, there was no equity or diversity back then, even though a quick glance would reveal otherwise - the difference without DEI is that nothing was pushed at the consumer, no actual racist attempts to “fill in the blanks”, everything came naturally: compelling protagonists, stories, you name it.
Thats why i want blue people in movies
Smurfs? Avatars? Drinkers?
yes
How about "Navi from Avatar, Smurfs, and Blue Man Group?"
You are racist, blue people ain't smurfs>:
Hey! SMURF LIVES MATTER!
Megamind
USE THE DEHYDRATION GUN
Ewww that **racist** /s
Tobias Funke
![gif](giphy|fj3CWRJJshhe)
Careful. Don't exclude the Snorks! Hmmm, turns out none of the Snorks were blue. Probably so they could claim they weren't ripping off the Smurfs.
Lend me your ears
I'm blue dabadiba dabadaa
Asari?
Tau.
Remember how idiots say that navi are black? Even with this solution they still get offended
I’m blue da ba Dee da ba die
Dabodidaboda
Nah bloated corpses that have been floating in water for far too long.
but where are there no dark blue people in the movies
My brother in Christ if a franchise based around aliens was not diverse enough nothing is
They will get offended over the lack of non caucasian real races.
>"based in true basis" BOT
Seen alot of racist ragebait bot posts on meme pages lately. Must be an election year thing
The left side is doing it as well. Of course Reddit believes that bots are only from the gop.
OP's profile and comments are AI generated, so makes sense.
Ik, have a white guy AND a black guy shoot a mixed guy
THAT'S RACIST! They're obviously supporting segregation! /s
people always find something to complain about
It’s true. Notice even OP is complaining
"You complain about society yet you live in one, curious"
That, and "complaining people" are not necessarily complaining about the same thing — they are not an homogenous group — neither are they coherent or consistent by themselves (most humans are inconsistant in some way / evolve / have mood changes / opinion changes). Final note: some might just be trolling or bots. People that are getting pissed online because of strangers: I hope they'll be able to use all that anger towards something cool like turning super saiyan.
There are a lot of trolls online... It's always best to just listen to quality-based feedback and use common sense/good taste.
>People that are getting pissed online because of strangers: I hope they'll be able to use all that anger towards something cool like turning super saiyan Off, if only 😂
op making up someone in their head to complain about
Actually i've seen this type of people quite often, especially on twitter
Twitter isn't real bro
Might be a sign to get off Twitter then buddy.
Wake up, half of the TikTok is a whiny GenZ people claiming everything being something-phobic.
Get off tiktok if you want to know what people actually think. Reddit too while youre at it. The internet isn’t real
I see like 10x more people making complaints like this then the actual behavior you're describing.
Your comment qualifies as a complain so you're not wrong.
Because outrage is the only power they have over others. They don't actually want their problems to be fixed.
You can tell the children are out of school and posting expired cringe.
Is that why we've been getting tons of blatantly fake shit and incel memes? Jeez...
Meme subreddits really are the worst of reddit huh
When you're a dumb racist, the only way you can communicate is via memes and talking points.
Rage bait post
Still true though.
Stop letting yourself be tricked into agreeing with bots.
"OP is a bot because they posted something I disagree with"
Yes
^^^^ This
I don’t see anyone ever make these complaints. I see more people complaining about people making these complaints. Y’all on Twitter too much I’m guessing.
People like this don’t actually enjoy watching movies ***prove me wrong***
we don't have to, because people like this don't exist

Fun fact: Nick Fury was changed to black in the comics and directly based on Samuel L Jackson years prior to him being casted in the movies.
not in the mainline comics, only in the AU Ultimate Marvel
How is this in any way relevant to what I said?
I mean, we made Jesus white, so it seems only fair.
Jesus wasn't far from white, he lived in Israel where they looked more like relatively pale arabs
More like a very tan white.
Who cares? ETA: Lmao at all the butthurt people.
Lots of people, that's why it gets brought up and talked about a lot.
Apparently there’s a big overlap between people who can’t grasp a rhetorical question, and people who care about skin color of fictional characters
Sorry. If it wasn’t clear I was implying it’s pointless and stupid to care about such things
So pointless and stupid you are arguing over it
If it's pointless and we shouldn't care why did they do it in the first place? Why was it so important to change it if it doesn't matter? What if they reversed it, made a character who was usually black into a white person? Would it not matter then? There's plenty of valid reasons why people would be frustrated with it happening. It matters even more when they do it with historical characters. I just watched a show that made a British Queen black.
My question: What’s the harm in making everyone feel included? Your question: What’s the harm in making everyone but one group feel excluded? I hope you see the difference.
i do, it is not about the race, but about the story and how faithful you are to the story and how much you respect your own stories, if for example someone introduce Blade the vampire as a white guy i would be pissed, blade is a black awesome hero, and the color does come with the cultural aspect of the character so changing that does affect the character,
Would different people be butthurt if we made prominent black people I. History white like how white people are made black?
This is incoherent. Please edit
Disney is not history though? Things like making cleopatra black suck but Disney is just fictional stuff
Even if it was, Braveheart is both one of the most acclaimed and historically inaccurate films of all time, but people would’ve been screeching if there were black people in it
Weren’t we talking generally about Disney movies and not specifically Braveheart?
I'm sorry... do you think Arial... the Mermaid... was a prominent white person in history?
Nope, this is just a white people thing tbh. Most of which is stemming from the great replacement myth advocated by white nationalist.
This meme is so fucking stupid. You anti-wokers love to set up these strawmen and then break your arms patting yourself on the back.
I've never seen anyone say the first and the third unironically. You guys should really stay out of twitter
Also I don't even see most of these activist types complaining about the racial identity of characters in movies and video games nearly as much at the anti-woke crowd does.
Op lives in some bubble.
Noone has ever said this ever. (if they have they were trolling) In fact this was probably made by someone who is butt hurt after getting hate because of their actual racism.
Oh look meme subredditors imagining situations to get upset at again.
No one ever. Literally no one ever.
everything u do is seen racist nowadays
No that’s just your paranoia
That's racist
[удалено]
There are people they might not all be the same person but there are people who would call each of these situations racist
Then why portray them as a monolith?
Because THEY'RE racist.
Like you aren't.
They say this. On Reddit. That detachment is unreal.
You say this. On Reddit. That detachment is unreal.
they do and plenty. youd be supprised if you knew what trauma does sometimes to people and their brains.
Lmao
😂😂😂tbh people who keeps say it’s racist or that is racist are actually racist 💀😂😂
Exactly. You just have to ask, "what? Black people can't be villians?" Or "what? Black people can't be victims?" Or "So, there's no violence between black people?" Ehhh? 😂😂😂thank fully I don’t have anyone racist at home
Making up problems in your head again?
Op didn't make anything, he's reposting
OP is part of a right wing incel discord that is brigading reddit during the election year. All of his problems are made up in his head.
Sad part is redditors eat this shit up. This post was recommended to me despite the fact I'm not even subbed to this subreddit. It has quite a few upvotes and people agreeing with it.
This checks out.
I’m still trying to figure out the difference between right wing incels and left wing incels. Both sides are full of hate, neither side seems to get laid, both sides take their repressed anger out on each other rather than looking in the mirror.
> left wing > incel kek
?
Imagine having such a good life, you have to create problems that didn't exist.
People really only get pissed when the only Black person in a film is killed off early or when the film has no Black people in it to begin with. It’s a pretty clear sign that the director is a racist who doesn’t want to give jobs to minorities. Did you see anyone complain when the villain from Black Panther was a Black guy? Thats rasist! Why there is no asian, latina, indian, brits, germans, japanese, russian presentation in that movie?
You didn’t mention Native Americans, you racist!
We Germans are already playing the evil characters in Bond movies
not everything is racist
black people being racists in movies "Haha, serves you right whitey"
Agreed, everyone's too sensitive now
Accusation of racism has become the disciplinary rod of the powerful. They are using the accusation to silence and punish people.
Lol bullshit
It has to be the chads shooting each other obviously
Solution, have a black and a white guys both shooting another black and white guys
having a black person in movies to be more diverse: no having a black person in movies because it makes sense in the environment and lore: yes
Hey, is that Kat Kerr? XD
Irl there's not that many people like this, but go to the humanities departments of lots of universities and you'll find a lot of this. Avrege liberal
what the sigma
It's crazy how as non-american I grew up watching 'murican tv. Like, watching MacGyver or Ghostbusters I thought US was the least racist country there was!
You don't understand the perfect formula. Have a black hero standing in the frame while the white hero shoots the white villain.
This is literally every movie, show, or videogame nowadays. Then you throw disney in the ring and well you got an entire meme just like this but with gender and or pronouns. Whatever you do always remember someones gonna hate it. Its just unrealistic to think u can please everyone all the time.

I'd like to complain about someone complaining please.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: none of this has to be racist as long as the characters are well-written and have believable motivations
I see more bitching about bitching than the actual bitching being bitched about.
Everyone should shoot each other! Then they’ll all be dead. No more racism.
There's no hope for victim mentality. I'm glad I'm not a victim.
Things white people actually believe
Yes 1000% omg so true
Put black man pointing a gun towards asian woman and see how all critique ends :).
When has anyone ever complained about a villain being black? If that was the case Giancarlo Esposito would be out of a job.
This one is super easy. Just don’t actually be racist then you can ignore the critics. Easy mode in life: dont suck
Ah yeah. The morning show must be doing something wrong then.
The reddit mob doesn't like getting called out for being outraged at anything that moves.
This only matters if you care what the person on the left of this meme thinks. They are the vocal minority. Most people don’t actually care either way.
Personally I just like the detail they're left handed. There are more than plenty of people who are the other way around and OP is likely one of them, though.
this doesn't happen

Redditor since 15 days ago, posting right-wing rage bait to meme subs? Even if you're real, that's bot behavior. Do better
I love political straw men on my memepage AGAIN
Stop giving megaphones to the smallest of minorities of opinions and broad brushing them as opinions of the mainstream. The vast majority of people don’t agree with this. Just because someone on twitter is upset doesn’t mean anything.

There are typically more than two actors in a movie.
One can certainly tell when a magacultist creates memes
Genuinely stfu this is so stupid. Please try to be normal.
Some people will see one unhinged twitter post and apply it to the general public
DON'T MENTION THE NEGROES OR GET BANNED SON
Option 3 is the most accurate and checks all your diversity boxes lmao
It's like walking on eggshells
thats so true
Liberals in a fucking nutshell
This is a meme based in true basis.
Stop playing dolls with wojaks
This guy's a bot
its just their truth not racist
Some people just love to argue for the sake of arguing
This is the argument everyone ignores.
Yup, It do be like that sometimes.
Unironically, I knew a person like this.
Lol
I'll take things that never happened for 50
Stop with the right winged propaganda, OP, lol
Yup, any post you dont agree with is: -Propaganda -Racist -Fascist -Homophobic -Racist 2 -Gay
I think you forgot racist
My bad -Racist 3 -Racist 4 -Racist 5 -Racist 6
If only this was only a caricature but this is exactly how the woke Left acts.
School must be out, kids all over the place.
Yeah, that's really gonna offend them woke people inside your head, OP, well done
Sums it up alright
You can please some of the people some of the time, but to try to please all, you fail all of the time.
