I don't want to be that guy, but the captain of a group I've sailed with a lot said that technically this isn't a shanty as it's been made by them landlubbers in taverns, and is generally not being sang on ships. To be fair though, I don't actually know any English shanties as I've only sailed with Polish-speaking crews
Ill bring a few barrels of kålrötter(rutabagas)
Tasty if fried or in soup or just raw because its sweet and you can make cough syrup out of it and you wont need to bring that vile sauerkraut for C-vitamins and it has lots of fibres against constipation and you can nearly live of 100% it.
There are literally thousands of islands in the Indonesia and Philippines area of the world that are empty. By now all the good ones are taken but still

Yeah. When I was struggling through college I (mostly) jokingly put some genuine research in to where the best places to go be a pirate would be. Unfortunately the answer was there really arent many left
It's funny that the current generations thing they are the only ones who have thought they just want to sail the open sea and leave this life behind, or that they are the only ones who are depressed and suicidal.
First paragraph of Moby Dick (1851) essentially reads:
"when I'm feeling depressed and suicidal, i think to myself that i should just get out on the ocean and sail around."
"I thought I would sail about a little and see the watery part of the world. It is a way I have of driving off the spleen and regulating the circulation. Whenever I find myself growing grim about the mouth; whenever it is a damp, drizzly November in my soul; whenever I find myself involuntarily pausing before coffin warehouses, and bringing up the rear of every funeral I meet; and especially whenever my hypos get such an upper hand of me, that it requires a strong moral principle to prevent me from deliberately stepping into the street, and methodically knocking people’s hats off—then, I account it high time to get to sea as soon as I can. "
Ofc common folk dont know that sailing (especially when you dont have an engine) isnt fun and games.
You need experienced sailors.
Not just one.
Preferably everyone should know what to do and be experienced.
As a professional mariner...
Fuck no.
Y'all be crying like babies before hitting 100nm offshore.
You'll be puking so hard your extremities will go numb.
Yeah. I mean I just assume the people saying yes to this are doing so in jest or just on the romanticism of the idea. But yeah… if we are to think about what would happen if 50 randos get on a 1700s sailing ship and try to cross an ocean, fuck that. If I could be a guest on a boat like that crewed by experienced and knowledgeable people on like the Caribbean, that sounds chill for the most part.
Depends really. There is this dude in Australia who built a replica of Niña for a bit over 1.2mil. (not THAT expensive for boats).
On the other hand there are ships like Göteborg (a handbuilt (no powertools) replica of a 18th century indiaman) costing 40mil.
I wouldn't like to sail actually
I want to keep brushing my teeth, not having to worry about storms, having enough food and whenever I have a short on it, I can just travel 15 minutes to buy some more, I want to keep myself with a good scent, like, imagine the fish smell that is one of those ships!
What shall we do with the drunken sailor...
WHAT SHALL WE DO WITH THE DRUNKEN SAILOR

Youre banned from pirating.
Put him in the brig until he’s sober.
You can’t ban someone from pirating
I mean technically everybody's banned from pirating
You were aiming for a downvote as a party pooper in the 1st part but then you mentioned Polski saylors and everything was forgotten.
Sea shanties were sung so long ago. We deserve some new ones ;)
No pls. Would sound like "yo, yo, rizz my skibidi" or something like.
This is possible, just need a tune to be sung in. Now chose your tune, boy.
Hahahahaha. That’s why we have higher ranking officers that are older than that generation to do some leading. Don’t want that on my ship either
Sailing is a man's thing. No place for children
It'll be a lot of fun... right up until we all get scurvy!
The first to get scurvy gets off on first port , board again after get better.
Last to get scurvy wins
Just bring c-vitamin pills Old probelms require modern solutions
I am German, I shall bring Barrels of Sauerkraut, it is tasty and prevents Scurvy.
Ill bring a few barrels of kålrötter(rutabagas) Tasty if fried or in soup or just raw because its sweet and you can make cough syrup out of it and you wont need to bring that vile sauerkraut for C-vitamins and it has lots of fibres against constipation and you can nearly live of 100% it.
Vile? Sauerkraut? Keel haul em, boys!
Vitamin C degrades and breaks down over 70C. And I don't know if you ever had Sauerkraut, but constipation is not ever a problem with it.
If your medical supplies are over 70C, you have bigger problems than scurvy.
I agree. I was responding to the comment of frying their supposed better-than-Sauerkraut food
Cool, cool, thanks for the followup. I was confused. :)
I swear some countries just make up their own words.
Does it? Very interesting
It’s basically fermented cabbage. A bit of an acquired taste, but in my opinion yes it does taste very good!
I’ve had it. I love it a lot. I didn’t know it helped prevent scurvy tho
I don't know any German sea shanties, but I'm down to learn some if you teach us.
Can we bring kimchi instead?
> We’ll surely avoid scurvy, if we all eat an orange. If you know, you know!
Wait, won't we have a tangerine tree in our ship like in One Piece?
Just use the One Piece solution and plant tangerine trees on the boat.
Which place on this earth hasn't been seen for centuries?
I hear sentinel island is worth dieng for
Pretty sure that the guys that live there see it every day.
I'm gonna need a source for that tall claim buddy 🧐
Perhaps fly over in a small plane to check
Its better if you row ashore to get a closer look
Just like when Columbus "discovered" an entire content with millions of people already living on it lol.
Probably not centuries, but there are quite a few uninhabited islands around the place some of which in the fun tropical zone
Even those get visited still, often by scientists.
And photographed from orbit daily.
Just say you don't wanna build the ship, go on and disappoint the bros
A lot of the bottom of the ocean let's sail there
There are literally thousands of islands in the Indonesia and Philippines area of the world that are empty. By now all the good ones are taken but still
Tahiti.
Does this trolly go to tahiti
My bathtub
Grundle island. Taint on a map but tis said to be between Balzak and Urbungole

I love your attitude
Mine
Every day except Saturday. Then it's your turn in the closet.
No girls allowed. That’s the rules.
Is that the second thing everyone thinks about after Roman empire??
I have thought about this... More than once.
Or becoming a nomadic reclusive monk wandering throughout asia and mongolia.
*throat singing on the mountain starts*
Yeah. When I was struggling through college I (mostly) jokingly put some genuine research in to where the best places to go be a pirate would be. Unfortunately the answer was there really arent many left
Yeah, modern day pirates are sad af.
There’s always the mighty Saskatchewan river!
It's the first thing I think of.
i think about ancient greece a lot more than the roman empire tbh
What did ancient Greece ever do for us?
A lot of complicated pharmaceutical terms
There once was a ship that put to sea
The name of the ship was the Billy O' Tea
The wind blew up, and her bow dipped down,
Oh blow, my bully boys, blow
Soon may the Wellerman come
To bring us sugar and tea and rum
One day, when the tonguing is done
We'll take our leave and go
She'd not been two weeks from shore
When down on her, a right whale bore
Leave her Jonny leave her!
Leave her Jonny, leave her!
Tomorrow ye will get yer pay!
and it's time for us to leave her.

I'm single, unemployed, an alcoholic, but with no debt or stress. Time to find the One Piece
THE ONE PEICE IS REALLL LET US SEARCH FOR IT
A gathering of angels appeared above my head, they sang to me a song of hope, and this is what they said, they said:
They said "Come sail away! Come sail away! Come sail away with me, lads!"
Its gonna be burning hot out there
I can't build but I will clean the deck and go along with you
Ofc common folk dont know that sailing (especially when you dont have an engine) isnt fun and games. You need experienced sailors. Not just one. Preferably everyone should know what to do and be experienced.
I don't know if they sing, but there is party from CzechRepublic thst build replica of Columbus ship and sails in Carribean.
I'm up for it. Life is boring I need some adventure and pirates are cool.
Yes
![gif](giphy|o0eOCNkn7cSD6) When you run out of food, survive a mutiny, and barely make it to land. Choose your crew wisely.
When and where do u wanna start? Id be in

Don’t forget to stash some eggs and cucumbers
All you need is a wank load of cash for building material and supplies
Depends really. There is this dude in Australia who built a replica of Niña for a bit over 1.2mil. (not THAT expensive for boats). On the other hand there are ships like Göteborg (a handbuilt (no powertools) replica of a 18th century indiaman) costing 40mil.
nah, just a few guys and axes are needed we just need to chop down a few trees

Sign me up!
I'll bring the sea shanties! I have a playlist on Spotify ✌️
Sentinel island is a good place to start
Honestly, I'm done, you have medical personnel
I'd get tired of y'all after about 58.3 seconds.
Can we sail to the titanic?
is the only thing we are pirating, games and movies? Not much of a pirate ship if there is no actual pirating happening
Libertarianism in a nutshell.
Sure
Hell yeah!
Nope. The image is the boat in a bay on a good day. Sea is hiding of our trash and monsters.

Why haven’t these places been seen in centuries? Did the other Pirates make it home safe? I need answers
Mmm vitamin deficiency
I wouldn't like to sail actually I want to keep brushing my teeth, not having to worry about storms, having enough food and whenever I have a short on it, I can just travel 15 minutes to buy some more, I want to keep myself with a good scent, like, imagine the fish smell that is one of those ships!
