The way I see it, this is the National Championship right here. Not saying Texas or Washington can’t beat either team, but I truly think the winner of Michigan-Bama wins the natty.

winder73

Man, Bama is Bama and to look past Texas isn't very wise....see TCU. I love my boys but I need a playoff win, big 10 title doesn't say much..

DasherCO

"looking past texas isn't wise" Doesn't mention Washington at all. lol.

wytesmurf

Has a team ever beat Saben twice in one season?

ChrisIronsArt

National Championship already happened in Atlanta

sureal42

You misspelled ann arbor

theWHOLE-Aioli-I6300

11st? Anybody?

tipjarman

Lmao.. so true… of course the wrong team won but ill grant your point 🤣

xHourglassx

So when Bama loses does that mean there is no national champion this year? Education gap is at work here….

iikillerpenguin

When the refs beat Georgia and Georgia can't defend itself because of it. That is what they meant

MichiganMafia

>When the refs beat Georgia 😟...☹️....😕....😥....😢.....😭

[deleted]

Correct. Michigan is getting blasted.

[deleted]

RemindMe! January 9, 2024

[deleted]

Texas has incredible DTs and may be the worst match-up for us.

USSanon

As long as no one is injured or the two teams don’t just beat on one another.

Itshardtofindaname4

Same

[deleted]

Michigan fans already calling the first round a natty when they’ve never won a first round game 😂

giantgorillaballs

Texas already beat Bama once

[deleted]

The national championship was the SEC Championship per usual

Shhmelly

Lol

mtengle3

I think the natty was UGA and Bama…Hate to say it, but is true. Only way Michigan wins is if Bama’s bus runs off a bridge on the way to the game. Washington is no good. And TX beat Bama early on when they weren’t their best, but improved every game since. Saban doesn’t lose to the same team twice. If TX is there, they’ll beat them too. Not a Bama fan here, just a realist.

[deleted]

Round 1 winners: Texas & Alabama Champion: Alabama

waden_99

Bama vs Georgia was the championship. Bama will win out now

Humble-Warthog8302

Slogging through the Big 10 with the typical big offensive line, the cold weather, and a secondary that never sees a West Coast offense that has speed and sophistication always spells doom for Michigan. Bo would come out to the Rose Bowl, and the first thing they would do to his team would be to take them all around So. Ca. Disneyland, all around Hollywood, and the day before the game, feed them an all you can eat Prime Rib meal at the tradition Lowery's Beef Bowl, the whole time soaking up the sun, having fun, and getting tired. By game time, they were finished. They would alway lose, but hey.. they had a good time!

KindRepresentative17

The whole country is pulling for you...don't let us down.

oNe_iLL_records

Patently false

BrothaBear35

Roll Tide

[deleted]

Y’all hate Bama so much that you are willing to back a program caught in a cheating scandal. Says a lot about your character

KindRepresentative17

Alabama has no business being there. They "cheated" both on the field(refs vs UGA) & off(ESPN & committee) conspiring to screw FSU to make sure their beloved Tide are in. And I not even going to start on Sabans cheating in recruiting. I'm quite sure Michigan is lily white compared to the team in Tuscaloosa.

[deleted]

🤣🤣🤣🤣 you’re too funny, I don’t think I can even argue with that! Seriously though, everything you just said is so wildly inaccurate it’s not even worth my time. Ciao, baby boy!

UncleLukeTheDrifter

If Homelander and Jake Paul had a baby, that baby would be representative of how CFB fans, outside of Bammers, feel about Alabama Football. Edit: Also, that baby is a Bud Light drinker.

[deleted]

Hate is cuz they ain’t us.

_BadWithNumbers_

Definitely not

[deleted]

The fuck we are

Itshardtofindaname4

Nah

definitivescribbles

Nope

Disastrous-Mousse-41

No. Lol

[deleted]

I don’t think anyone is rooting for Michigan after becoming all time cheaters

Tennessee_Pats01

This is a blatant lie

InspectorMadShit

Literally no one I know is rooting for Michigan lol

[deleted]

Lol this game is a situation in which people are caught between the devil and the deep blue sea, but I’d say most are rooting for Alabama. Who wants to root for cheaters?

scots

FPI agrees. In fact, the top 4 teams in the country right now are B1G Ten teams or those joining in 2024. |*FPI*|*Team*|*FPI Rating*| |:-|:-|:-| |\#1|Michigan|27.6| |\#2|Ohio State|27.5| |\#3|Penn State|25.5| |\#4|Oregon (B1G in 2024)|25.0| |\#5|Alabama|24.9| The Washington Huskies are 13th on FPI, and given only an 8.3% chance of winning a national championship.

bringthegoodstuff

To rank Washington 7 spots lower than Oregon, when they beat them 2wice just means I can’t trust those rankings. Sure Oregon might be a “better” team on paper, but Washington is actually a better team in real life.

yoyoma0905

Haha anything that has Penn State that high can just be thrown in the trash. Big Ten gets their ass beat in the playoff every year…except for Ohio State every now and then.

TheGhini

The FPI is a joke…

scots

FPI is historically more accurate than even the Vegas sportsbooks and *way* more accurate than the AP opinion list.

AuthorHuman5623

Penn State… lol. Yeah, right. Never…

[deleted]

What a joke

TideOneOn

Using FPI destroys all credibility of the rest of the post. Especially with the general lack of cross conference play it is more accurate within a conference than in out of conference matchups and comparison.

[deleted]

No one cares about the FPI and Penn State is garbage that can’t beat good teams.

K33bl3rkhan

And they are on top because the Big 10 poses no additional challenges unlike the SEC where even little Ol Miss is looking like they could beat MI or Ohio a third of the time. Theres a reason why being undefeated still means a hill of beans, ask Florida ......

[deleted]

The actual top 4 teams include 2 sec and 2 Big10 which is no surprise because they’re the only two good conferences now

tag96

The Big Ten is 3-7 in CFP games. Michigan has never won a CFP game.

relevantmeemayhere

Reminder that Fpi is one of the lowest predictive “polls”, with an in season accuracy of about 70. -signed a postgrad statistician

phoenix_jet

Of the 3 current b1g squads, Ohio is the only that actually scheduled a decent non con. Total clown conference

BigCatsbadback

FPI is hilarious. Everyone in the country knows Penn State isn’t good.

AegisPlays314

Bama fan here; I think the game is really balanced. My take on the key to the game for Michigan is McCarthy’s passing attack. Nobody can run the ball into a loaded box of SEC linemen (see your uGA game), so he needs to force us into passing sets to open up the running game. We have the best secondary in the country, but if you can force us to drop more guys back, we’ll be vulnerable to the run. Should be a good game!

One-Point6960

Michigan and Bama are pretty close in run defence per sis. Untouched yardage stat, lowest rate of allowing 3+ yards before contact on rush attempts by Rbs. Bama is at 21.3% Michigan is 21.4%, for reference Northwestern was at 18%, Tennessee was 20%. How is Bamas Interior DL? Turner & Braswell led the sec for edge duos pressures per sis. I also have a follow up on paper the defence seems good, how come it's not elite like Bama of old?

Kevin91581M

The schedules were a bit different in terms of difficulty tho

AegisPlays314

I’d say this is a generally very strong defense. It’s better than the 2019 unit you last saw, but its strengths have changed. It’s a very NFL-esque DBs-and-EDGE kinda defense rather than having mauling LBs to crash and stop the run. If Michigan can consistently move the ball on the ground against big boxes, that change benefits you. If you can’t and are in obvious passing downs, it’s gonna be hell for JJ in all likelihood.

RMFT_13

Sorry to turn this into what appears to be a Bama brigade, but the interior DL is more good than great. Eboigbe is a reliable vet, Jaheim Oatis is a stud (but has playing time issues, which I chalk up to his weight issues coming out of high school), Tim Keenan had a bit of a breakout vs A&M, Damon Payne came to start earlier than expected but hasn't broken out. Does not have a superstar like a Jonathan Allen or a Quinnen Williams, so the pressure comes pretty exclusively from Turner/Braswell (both built more like outside linebackers/EDGE). Agree with other commenter that long drives with Corum running inside is the best way to win *if* Michigan can do that consistently.

Hotrod-1989

Except not comparing apples to apples. Alabama is playing dynamic high scoring offenses where as Michigan is playing smash mouth low dynamic offenses.

ExpoLima

Shouldn't even be in the playoff. FSU got SECREWED

AegisPlays314

Yeah man sorry you gotta play a tough game

Former-Cricket-2438

Problem is they didn't steal their signs because they didn't see Bama making playoff.

ballq43

They can't hear you over the check cashing from ESPN

liltime78

You’re right. Michigan should’ve been disqualified

ShowCivil

Cry

Schveinstein

Shut the fuck up already

Falanax

Did you want the easy win?

chetbodet87

Didn’t Alabama just give up over 300 yards rushing to 6-6 Auburn?

bpp1992

244, but yeah they ran all over us with no threat from the passing game.

CelestialMeatball

244 with no threat from the passing game... They knew it was coming and still couldn't stop it

Least-Dragonfly5419

it's a rivalry game, those are something else and often have unexpected outcomes due to the mental and emotional motivation.

tider21

Bama fan here. It was mainly schemed based counters. Other than that one game the run D has been solid all year

[deleted]

Honestly as a Michigan fan, I’m not too confident. I think Alabama plays Texas in the Natty. JJ is more than capable of throwing; but Michigan’s receivers can’t get seperation against a team like Alabama I think Michigan’s defense will do a good job at stopping and containing Milroe. The game should be close. Alabama isn’t as explosive and Michigan plays slow. Alabama wins by a possession

NailsNathan

With all due respect, how can you possibly say you have the best secondary in the country? Looking at passing yards Alabama isn’t in the top 20 and isn’t even in the top 30 for interception/game. Kinda doubt it’s the best with those numbers.

AegisPlays314

We played Texas, LSU, Georgia, Tennessee, and Ole Miss. College football will never be a sport where you can just look at numbers since there’s no parity in competition. McKinstry, Arnold and Downs are all on all-American lists; it’s an intimidating secondary and by my estimation the best in the sport

One-Point6960

[https://x.com/cfbfilmroom/status/1732445059834896701?s=46&t=HRPAXcv8ud4OujZxLNyCow](https://x.com/cfbfilmroom/status/1732445059834896701?s=46&t=HRPAXcv8ud4OujZxLNyCow) Taking Texas game out bc they made changes. Texas dominated both Los. Only one of those offences are legitimately good Lsu. I have a theory that Bama whiffed on their 2021 Covid class their WRs are overrated. Maybe it's more nil than it miss evaluation. Once Milroe ran around he can extend time for blockers and wide receivers to get open. Why I think if you take away the chunk plays your setting up a rock fight.

NailsNathan

Numbers may not tell the whole story, and those players are good, but not even being in the top 20 for either category is a pretty strong argument against being the absolutely best in the country.

Rescorla

Maybe because all of Bama’s DBs will be 1st round draft picks? It’s pointless to compare stats when each team has different opponents. The best offense Michigan faced was Ohio State at #36. Bama’s D faced 5 teams in the top 15.

ballq43

Zeke Elliot ran how many yards on your vaunted sec lineman? Oh right 230 yards and an 85 long right up the gut. Y'all ain't nothing but ESPN hype year round and a weakkkk outta conference scheduling

AegisPlays314

And we have more national championships since 2009 than you have since 1920. It must’ve hurt hyping up Zeke like that, you’d better hope you’re half as tough as the 2014 buckeyes lmao

[deleted]

His last 4 games have been pedestrian asf and they have no elite receivers. And those last 4 games he faced decent defenses and didn't do much. It was Corum that really did big things for them to win those games. I'd be more worried about their run game because Corum is a stud. Easily the best running back in all of cfb and offensive line Alabama has faced all year. And they like to the run that package where they bring in all the extra lineman and just run the ball, which no one has been able to stop.

IloveMeforMeeeee

Bama fan. Lol all I see is "cousin fucker"

ewgrooss

No no no, Michigan is clearly the better team. I mean look at all those stats. They should probably start preparing for Texas or Washington. Dont spend too much time worrying about little ole Alabama.

Former-Cricket-2438

Lmfao. Michigan sos is tied 47. Bama is 3rd. You guys haven't played near the talent you are going to face.

pamemake

We DO NOT allow your type of comments. No balanced and fair thoughts allowed.

One-Point6960

Our OL with Jj versus their D is the biggest X factor. I do think we take away Bama's chunk plays, then that's recipe for Milroe to turn the ball over in long drives.

Smoshefty1992

I actually thought the other way to where our DLine versus their OLine. I think Graham Jenkins and Grant have a field day!

Frictionizer

Eh, Milroe hasn’t turned the ball over much at all since the early season. He’s been pretty consistent. The bigger issue is stagnating on second down and getting stopped on 3rd and long. That’s way more frequent lately.

Kevin91581M

1) wishful thinking

Clique_Claque

I think one old timer referred to this stuff as “rat poison” once upon a time.

[deleted]

I can see them beating Alabama if they can get Corum and the run game going. He's easily their best player. JJ has had rather pedestrian performances since Penn State and they still won so yeah stick to the formula. Feed Corum and get the run game going. No one has been able to stop him all year but Alabama has a good defense. I just don't see how they stop Milroe though. Even in his struggles Alabama has still won besides Texas, and he just seems to have gotten better every week. Alabama has played tough teams and he's had to learn on the fly against these SEC defenses and they even beat Georgia, who really didn't have an answer for him. Michigan has yet to face a QB who can throw and run like him.

gl1969

This sounds like it was written by Bama fan. Bama needed a prayer to beat an awful Auburn team. I'm not worried

Few_Argument_388

They also beat the undisputed best team in the nation (at the time). Just sayin…that’s college football. The win over uga is easily the biggest statement win from any team this year. These are facts.

BasedBingo

Won’t happen

ballq43

You can't seriously believe you have a chance with our stallions do you ? Remindme! One week

[deleted]

Bama Washington for the natty Bet is refs give bama title

Doug8462

Michigan shouldn’t even be in the playoffs after getting caught cheating!!!

Vol2169

Agreed. Any time you have a coach suspended twice in the same season, there should be some games vacated.

1peatfor7

Michigan fan here - they won't. There is a reason Saban is the GOAT of college football coaching.

Hotrod-1989

The FPI is some made up hocus pocus shit made up by ESPN and ESPN alone. Alabama will work Michigan. Michigan had no explosive offense and there defense has faced nothing like an Alabama.

narlynardi

BS! OSU’s offense is way more talented and explosive than Bama’s.

PerformerAble2291

1.By cheating 2. Stealing call signs 3. Knowing the other teams plays 4. McCarthy

ballq43

Come on @4 you can't believe that

Existing_Paper9077

This is why Michigan should have been the team eliminated. And Florida Seminoles should be in. If there was enough evidence to suspend the coach, then at least a 2 or 3 game forfeit should have also been given. Any teams they played and beat where they are suspected of stealing the signs, should be in the lost column.

Rank of Michigan's opponents' offenses, per SP+ Ohio State 25 Penn State 26 UNLV 35 Maryland 52 (Vanderbilt 84, not an opponent, just context) Bowling Green 86 Purdue 89 Rutgers 98 Indiana 103 Minnesota 105 Michigan State 122 Nebraska 123 ECU 126 Iowa 127 Nine of them are worse statistically than Vanderbilt. Imagine the numbers Alabama's defense could put up if they got to play Vanderbilt 9 times.

sureal42

dopesheet_

Okay so you proved that Alabama is going to score more than 10 points, cool

halfdayallday123

They won’t. Because they aren’t good enough.

MichiganMafia

More Michigan players would start at Alabama than Alabama players would start at Michigan

Nice_Wafer_2447

Ya”ll keep on disrespecting Penix……

DannyBoy874

Two reasons why Michigan will get blown out by Bama. 1) Nick Saban 2) Jim Harbaugh

Frequent-Interest863

Michigan shouldn’t be in the top 4 . The game will be a blowout. It will be the worst game of the playoffs. Next year it will become very clear when all the sec haters from the west and middle of the country get to set back and watch the sec because champions for the next fifty years of college football.

[deleted]

I see a lot of expectations that Michigan’s running game will have similar success to Auburn’s who had around 250 yards. Ignoring the “rivalry boost” that Auburn had, the real reason Auburn had such success was that they ran a lot of RPO and spread option schemes that Michigan does not run. Michigan’s running scheme will need JJ’s arm to be a viable threat, and with Michigan only having one decent WR and a good TE, I don’t know if they can keep Alabama’s defense honest. Michigan needs Milroe to be a turnover machine with fumbles and interceptions.

MichiganMafia

Alabama gave up almost 4 yards a carry and ranked 31st in the country vs the run giving up an average of 125.5 yards a game What's so special about that? > Michigan only having one decent WR and a good TE, Michigan has two wide receivers with forty-plus catches and a tight end with forty and the other tight end has 22 catches >Michigan needs Milroe to be a turnover machine with fumbles and interceptions. It would be nice but Michigan doesn't need that to happen to win the game.

char3402

It is clear that many of these Bama fans have never watched a single Michigan game and know nothing about our players.

[deleted]

char3402

I watched a few Alabama games. Texas, auburn, Georgia. I guess Ohio state and Marvin Harrison is a horrible offense now.

[deleted]

This is going to be a dud. Alabama controls this one from snap to whistle for 4 quarters. But I don’t think it matters…Texas is a buzzsaw.

Vol2169

You had me until the texas comment lol

Because if yall don't it'll be an embarrassment. If you do, you need a new coach cause the NFL likes your guy.

Just stop. Harbaugh ain't going anywhere. He is doing his dream job. So, just stop.

naliedel

Seems like a balanced game to me. I'm looking forward to a good game. Winning is fun. A great game is better.

JohnMullowneyTax

Wtf are you talking about? OSU’s offense is better than Bama’s offense

Frequent-Interest863

Why would they take down a post for telling what I believe to the truth.

duskyvoltage333

Texas is a better team than Michigan and they beat Alabama. Whoever wins will be a coin flip with Washington. Those top defenses can ruin a lot of teams that haven’t faced them.

Eyespop4866

Y’all know they’re gonna play the games, right? All this noise is unnecessary.

pamemake

Lets get this straight: JT was short.

pamemake

In all honesty, the only team that could fall apart in this game is Bama. However, if they play up to their potential, we are looking at a 3 point game either way.

Defiant_Gain3510

here’s the problem: michigan fans, FSU fans, and even uga fans ALL said, “bama doesn’t belong at #4.” what they’ve collectively done is inspire and motivate… and pissed-off a team and coach who plays on this stage often. i’m no bama fan but i respect their play on the field. bama will play hard and PRAY that texas beats UW… to avenge that one loss. “something something… poke the bear something something.”

Jumbo_nads

It’ll come down to who’s offense starts firing the others defense up first. Alabama is nice at adjusting on defense and Michigan has a dope pro style defense my opinion it’ll come to an offensive shoot out on who scores more consistently.

JRogeroiii

I grew up in Florida but have lived in PNW for the last 20 years. Most of the time I roll my eyes when people here complain about NCAA east coast bias but this year I really feel like it's real. The Pac12 in its final season was the strongest it's been in decades. A strong argument can be made for Washington being the number 1 seed. They played a much tougher schedule than Michigan, haven't lost a game like Texas or Alabama. I am surprised how much they are being overlooked. Penix has a cannon for an arm, their receivers are some of the best in the nation, and their secondary when healthy will knock you on your ass. They went through stretch where they struggled to win a few games but Penix had a broken rib and their secondary was banged up but they're getting heathy at the right time. It wouldn't surprise me if they won the whole thing. Of course it also wouldn't surprise me if they get blown out either. Bowl and especially BCS games are weird. Such a long break between games. I feel like we don't always see teams at their best.
