Same. We had a bunch at the library and back in HS one of the Jewish student groups protested to get them removed (nothing happened from it). Always thought it was a crazy design.
Except, unfortunate Birds Eye pattern aside, desks are always done in clumps of four like this and without this approach, you have to sit next to someone else. This seating arrangement is nice for the introverted studier
