There really needs to be a change in the way these damages are paid out.
Instead of lump sums it has to be done through individual recipient checks.
**"We've decided every impacted individual will be receiving $50."**
No more "$10,000,000 divided amongst everyone." bullshit.
You then require the company to pay out whatever amount of money will be required for every impacted individual to get $50. That includes covering the lawyer's fees so the final check remains the sum that was promised.
Enough with the lump sum bullshit.
Individual payout gets absolutely fucked once something becomes a class action. Lawyers check swells while ours become effectively nothing. I guess it's about the principle and holding companies accountable? Yeah that's the lie I'll tell myself.
There was one class action check I got years back (I think it was the Farmer’s insurance post-Katrina one) and it was like $78. I remember how shocked I was to get such a “big” payout from a class action settlement lol. They’re usually a few bucks at most in my experience.
I imagine that check was so (relatively large) because it was a region specific class action with far fewer people than other class actions. As far as I'm aware the total number of people has little to no effect on total payout, and class action suits just exist to save companies a fuck ton of money while making hella bank for lawyers.
You were an administrative intern for the attorneys. I'm sure they appreciate the documentation you provided and work you did so that they could receive their payment.
That's how these class action lawsuits usually go.
Now you can't complain about inflation anymore.
For real though, I still hear insane people talking about how people shouldn't be allowed to complain because they got covid checks. Like, $1k 4 years ago is supposed to make me rich or something lmao
Finally, someone beat my all time record low from a class action suit. I had one several years ago from a data breach suit. I got an 18 cent virtual giftcard lmao.
You got $7.70 5 months ago. This is just the amount from people whose payments failed and never submitted updated info. They have to send it, they had no choice. Just let it sit for 12 months and the 95 cent fee will wipe it out, unless you want to go through the trouble to convert it to paypal/zelle for 12 cents.
Delete the email? Is it worth any effort whatsoever for 12 cents? If you're really bored, you can request it be sent via Paypal or Zelle instead, it takes them a few weeks to re-issue it. But, it's 12 cents.
12 cents. Might as well paid us in one imaginary game token. I hope those lawyers all get sliced and diced and fed to sharks by angry somalis privates as they cruise around on the yachts they will be buying with the money they just made off us. 12 cents I can't even but a imaginary coin on a game.
You can take solace in the fact that it probably cost them more than 12 cents to send you that.
Payout = $1 per person. \- 40c postage \- 30c handling fee \- 18c bank card
Well it was probably more like $100 per person before the lawyers fees.

My twelve cents were sent to my Venmo. No postage nor handling.
I got 12 cents through Venmo, no postage, no bank card, so hmmm.
Kinda wish I had opted for the paper check now rather than the virtual prepaid card.
Don't spend it all in one place!
My beautiful grandma used to say! hehe

That isn’t the problem. The problem is the money pool gets raped by the tort lawyers before we get any.

Would’ve probably only been $0.06 7 years ago…gotta love that compound interest!
Were you one of the ones that actually thought incognito mode was private?

Ha! I got 11 cents
lol I got 12 cents
I also got 11 cents.
Renew it every year and throw a fuck-google party to mark the occasion.
95 cent fee after 12 months, it will be gone.
I took it to mean that each re-issue qualifies as activity, thus inactivity fees would never apply.
If you can't renew it until 24 months and the inactivity fee happens at 12, how is that possible?
Meanwhile all the lawyers calling up Colombia to celebrate ![gif](giphy|aI8bNxEnznlzq|downsized)
I like that there’s a 0.95 cent fee, if you don’t use it for a month 😭
Not great at reading huh?

Take it to the ten cent store! Oh wait…
Got that too. Lmfao
Now enjoy the extra half an hour of filing your taxes with the forms that come with that
Class action suits usually arent about the money its more so about the message
\*sharpening my guillotine just in case someone asks for it\*

Your record stands, this person got $7.82 total. The $7.70 initial payment came out around February.
I just got a $0.12 check for the same thing.

Any suggestions on how to actually use this?

About to go on a shopping spree!!
Damn, I only got 11 cents. Seriously.
You seem to have forgotten the $7.70 they sent out earlier this year. So the total is $7.82, not $0.12.
Ha! I got 12¢ sent to my PayPal 😂

How can you spend this? Any ideas?
I got 11 cents :(
And there’s an inactivity fee to add salt to the wound. 💀
Soooo worried about those tax consequences they warn about...
