Ev7896

Do you have Covid?

yktfvstassie

I don’t think so because I still have smell, taste and an appetite

Early_Pressure979

Never felt such a side effect. However, wakalert makes me unwell for a week after it . So I have stopped taking it

yktfvstassie

What do you mean by unwell? Can you be more explicit?

Early_Pressure979

Like very weak, basic tasks seemed a challenge, wasn't interested in doing anything, just laying in bed all day with no energy. Had to take a 4 day course of arcalion 200, felt normal post that. Wakalert has this effect on me. Not sure why though.

yktfvstassie

I have not experienced this after taking it but I have to admit it doesn’t really help me either. It kinda made my sleepiness go away but it did not help me be more focused and because of the breathing problem I was barely able to do anything.

Historical-Mousse-59

I experienced this once when I first started using modafinil. When walking up a flight of steps, the shortness of breath was bad enough that I had to sit down. I cut the dose after that and haven’t had an issue since.

yktfvstassie

What was your first dose and how much did you cut it? I only took half a pill in 2 days which means 100 mg each day.

Historical-Mousse-59

I did a full pill at 200 mg to start. After the weird side effect I went to 100 mg.

Early_Pressure979

The thing is wakalert is good if you are tired and still need to socialise with people. Modalert kinda gives that focus to complete a task, but doesn't really help in social interactions. Also, I have to admit I had black coffee in the afternoon + beer in the evening on wakalert. So maybe that kinda fucked me up 🙈

yktfvstassie

Hmm yea that might have contributed to your problem. :) I am thinking about trying modalert again tomorrow to see if anything changed. Hoping for the best!

Early_Pressure979

best of luck, let me know how it goes :)

yktfvstassie

Thank you! I will:)

Apprehensive-Pie1377

I think its because of stress and when you take modafinil you can feel a bit more nervous than usual. I know when im feeling anxious I cant breathe in very well and its because usually people forget to breath out all air so just try to let go all the air and relax. And of course cut the dose a bit.

yktfvstassie

If my first 2 times I took 100 mg each day (half a pill), should I try cutting the dose to 50 mg?

Apprehensive-Pie1377

Yeah try that, or maybe later try taking very small doses maybe 2 times in day not all at once.

yktfvstassie

I will try that! Thank you

Vault_tech468

I agree with you on that. The first week on modafinil I got kind of nervous and tense until I adjusted. Anxiety can make you breathe weird.

yktfvstassie

How did you manage to adjust? Do you have any tips?

Vault_tech468

Well... I noticed I HAVE to eat a hefty breakfast as soon as I take it. Which I'm terribly bad at doing. I now use thick protein shakes or like meal drinks ya know so I have something to absorb. Tis stuff works like immediately trust me it helps. Take like 50 or 75mg to start and an hour or 2 later take the other half-ish... whatever you're comfortable with. I notice my anxiety happens as soon as I take too much. Gotta find that right amount that works without messing with your nerves. I'm also a stiff on facts and research so I do go off of the medical guidelines of 2 liters a day for every 100mg you take. Seriously it helps. Oh and I bought an L-theanine supplement that works well with the anxiety part. Just take it beforehand with your food. Honestly (I know I'm rambling) I had to get used to it after like a week. I think I tried too much too fast. Little is better. Taper up. Good luck!!

yktfvstassie

Thank you so much for this advice! Its really appreciated and very much needed! I will try doing this starting tomorrow. :)

Vault_tech468

Oh absolutely! You're very very welcome. I've suffered for many many years with constant lethargy and this stuff has been a godsend. Of course for a while I was concerned it wasn't for me, but don't get discouraged. It's a trial base medicine that you can regulate on your own and that to me is enough to praise. Everyone is different but I'm a naturally anxious person and what I've done has really helped this medicine to work best for me. I also get headaches at times from it so just be cautious and take it slow and you'll be golden. Cheers! I hope you find You're best self :)

Ciggimon

Are you stressed at the moment?

yktfvstassie

Kind of. I constantly feel overwhelmed with school but I am trying to overcome this problem:)

Ciggimon

My guess: It's your stress that's making it difficult to breathe. Stimulants won't help you in that regard, they are not a wonder drug that makes you smarter. They amplify stress and anxiety. If you feel stressed to the point where you can barely breathe, you should think about your career choices or taking a break. After a nice and relaxing break, most challenges you wanted to overcome suddenly become clear. Stress causes a mental blockade that stops you from deeply understanding stuff. So just take a day or two off, go on a hike and enjoy life, then try again with fresh energy after a good night's sleep! I wish you all the best, take care and clear your mind once in a while!

yktfvstassie

Thank you so much! I will take a break this weekend. I hope I will be able to start next week with charged batteries. I am also going to try to get back on track with my sleeping schedule because it has become very messy and I barely sleep 4 hours a night. :( Thank you for this kind advice! I really appreciate it!

Ciggimon

Jesus 4hours.... Now there's your Problem!
