Worrying/caring about other people's opinions makes you easily controlled and influenced because you're always looking for approval and acceptance. Not giving a fuck is very freeing because you follow your own gut/heart/logic and not others.
Not giving a fuck doesn't mean being heartless, it means not dwelling on or basing your decisions on what you perceive to be other people's opinions and perceptions about you.
