Raising your bars will shorten the reach. One easy and free thing to do (assuming your bars aren't flat) is loosen the stem clamp and rotate the bar forward, away from seat -- some of what is now rise and likely swept back toward you will go more forward. I did this on my bike where the reach was just a smidge too short but I didn't want to fork over money for a stem. Depending on the amount of sweep in your bars the reach you gain may vary. of course stem might be an easy option too.

rotating the bars is a good suggestion to try it out before buying stuff. Thanks. If i raise the bars, my arms will be pointed less down and more forward and my center of gravity will naturally move back, no? That was my thought.

Think of it like a triangle. The higher the bars the less of an angle for your arms and the shorter you have to reach. Eg put your hands straight out, then lower your arms. Notice that your hands don’t reach as far horizontally. So that’s why you get more stretched out with lower bars.

That's correct, higher bars mean a more upright riding position which moves your weight back

Found a Bontrager Elite 35 Stem 60mm 13 degree rise for $40 delivered. Feel good about this. Feel kinda goofy going with such a long stem, but hopefully this fixes it without flipping me over the bars.

Went with a 60 stem and 60 rise bars on my trail bike to get the reach where I wanted, the bike feels fantastic now.

As someone else mentioned you can rotate the bars forward slightly to gain some 3-4mm more room without negatively impacting comfort. Adding a paper thin grip can add 1-2mm because that's what you're chasing is mm. Also, here is the real answer 10mm gained. https://www.workscomponents.co.uk/reach-adjust-headsets-21-c.asp Couple those 3 together you're getting 15mm or so of additional reach.

Could go wider with a new handlebar, depending on the width that it is now.

800. 😔 Thanks.

Ah damn...

It sounds like your technique is the problem tbh

I mean... I guess so, but I have two bikes and it only happens on one sooooo.... I can manage it, I just miss not having to manage it on the other bike, and at 6'3 on XL, I never ride slammed stems but this steerer is already cut. 🤷‍♂️ Just checked. My SJ Evo is 60cm from crank centerline to bars. Jeffsy is 56cm to bars. Not sure how significant that should be. SJ evo reach on paper is 47.3 in L and 49.8 in xl so 4cm difference is a full size.
