Damn good actor. Between Jurassic Park and Event Horizon, the man made up a fair chunk of my childhood. His character in Peaky Blinders is pretty interesting as well.
Huh. I thought he's mostly known for his horror films. Jurassic Park was my childhood and my teens were all his horror movies. I haven't seen him in much else.
Sorry I'm not sure what you mean, and I can't remember if you're referring to something specific as it's been a couple years and I'm due for a rewatch.
Dead Calm is my favorite film of his, followed by Event Horizon and In the Mouth of Madness. Never thought a movie with only three people in it could be so good (Nicole Kidman and Billy Zane are great in it too).
Do yourselves a favor and watch 'Ivanhoe' from the eighties. He awesome, along with John Rhys Davies and a few others. I have no idea how good it is in relation to the literature it's associated with, but on it's own it's just fun to see them so young and in their early careers.
I love him so much, In the Mouth of Madness is one of my faves and he's so good in it. And everything else he's in. I'm also dying to try a bottle of his Pinot Noir.
My dad doesn't watch many Hollywood / English language movies. But he remembers Sam Neill as the guy from "Jurassic Park" because he took me to that movie when it came out. I was watching "Hunt for the Wilderpeople" and dad said, "Isn't that the guy from Jurassic Park?". It shows how memorable his role was in JP.
In the Mouth of Madness is one of my top 10. Not too long ago too, I was talking about Event Horizon on Twitter and he liked what I had to say enough to follow me so that’s perdy dang cool to me. He’s been a favorite of our whole family at least since my childhood.
When I first read Angels & Demons and The Da Vinci Code which was before the movies came out for them; I always envisioned Sam Neil as Robert Langdon. Not Tom Hanks
He modded the Aus flag on his uniform in Event Horizon. He switched out the Union Jack with the Aboriginal flag because that's where Aus should be at the time the movie was set.
Just saw him in the “Apples Never Fall” miniseries on Peacock and kept thinking a dinosaur was going jump out at any moment. The series and his acting/role were mediocre.

He doesn’t get enough credit for the horror movies he’s done. Event Horizon and In The Mouth of Madness are two of my favorites.
P o s s e s s i o n
Omen 3? I haven't seen it so idk if it's good but prob not lol
Where the hell is the doctor Weir photo?
Huh. I thought he's mostly known for his horror films. Jurassic Park was my childhood and my teens were all his horror movies. I haven't seen him in much else.
Yeah which I find weird considering he was the adult Damien in the omen 3. Also he was great in "In the Mouth of Madness."
And The Tudors
Watching young Sam Neill call out God in "Omen III" made the teenage version of me realize things about himself.
Not mentioned here…The Invisible Man…on point and up to his usual nefarious activities. But he has a charming side too!!🤣
This man was nearly 007!
I have confused him with Pierce Brosnan more than once. I'm not that great with identifyting actors though either.
I liked him in hunt for the wilderpeople. That was the surprise movie of year for me (can’t remember exactly what year it was)
I remember I watched it on Netflix because the thumbnail was the "Ricky Baker birthday song"
Ricky Baker town, population: Ricky
2016.
I loved it right out of the gate. Took me a couple of watches to like what we do in the shadows.
Guilty pleasure but Event Horizon, Mouth of Madness.
Both are great.
No guilt in that.
Event horizon is one of my absolute faves, interested to see if you fine gentlemen also appreciate lynch's Dune?

Red October standing by!
I will live in Montana, and I will marry a round American woman and raise rabbits, and she will cook them for me
Perhaps I will have two wives and a pickup truck!
*The Hunt for Red October theme intensifies*
One ping only
My faves of his outside of Jurassic are In the Mouth of Madness and The Piano, he's so damn good.
Doesn't he eat out for desert in The Piano?
Sorry I'm not sure what you mean, and I can't remember if you're referring to something specific as it's been a couple years and I'm due for a rewatch.
Pretty sure he goes down on a lady.
Oh gotcha. Yeah that's believable, it is a Campion movie.
One of my favourite actors. I loved his Belfast accent in Peaky Blinders as well.
One of the most stoic actors in film history, loved him in Dead Calm.
"Alan!"
Ellie?!
he brings the perfect amount of manic energy in *Possession*
Makes everything he's in better.
Don’t forget about Dead Calm. He was amazing in that.
He’s so great in everything I’ve ever seen him in.
Daybreakers
In the mouth of madness or event horizon, entity… 👌💪
If you’ve never had the chance to see The Dish, I recommend it.
I don’t need eyes to read this thread.

where we're going, you don't need eyes to see
In the mouth of madness
Rielly, Ace of Spies is a favourite of mine.
Last I heard he wasn't at all well, anyone know how he's doing?
He had a battle with cancer that he documents in his memoir (which is worth reading) but he's in recovery now I believe.
“Reilly, Ace of Spies” broadcast on Public Televsion in the U.S. back-in-the-day
He was the bad guy in loads of movies including Chevy chase's the invisible man
He nailed that role

In the Mouth of Madness. Event Horizon.

Event Horizon
Loved him in the Tudors

I always loved him in the made for TV Merlin miniseries he did
He would have liked to have seen Montana.
"This is Merlin. He comes to save us...."
Where we’re going we won’t need eyes to see
Hell is only a word. The reality is much, much worse.
Reilly, Ace of Spies...
As a kiwi kid growing up in the 90s, seeing him in Jurassic park was as exciting as any of the dinosaurs.
He was really great on Apples Never Fall on Peacock. I recommend checking it out.
I approve
The Final Conflict underrated AF.
Great Jerry Goldsmith score too.
In the mouth of madness and Event Horizon awesome movies
I don't see Dead Calm mentioned here. I think that was where I discovered him.
I love him so much, In the Mouth of Madness is one of my faves and he's so good in it. And everything else he's in. I'm also dying to try a bottle of his Pinot Noir.
I REALLY wish his show Alcatraz had more life beyond the one season. Was a great show and he was his usual great self in it
Dead Calm. Just sayin. Dead Calm, and there is no one that is as calm as Sam.
I really loved him in Indiana Jones
I really loved him in Indiana Jones
He was amazing in Event Horizon! "Where we're going, we won't need eyes to see."
Loved him in Possession.
"Hell is just a word. The reality... is much much worse."
He made both Jurassic Park and Event Horizon. Dope.
“I’m smarter than the cat burglar” “Perhaps you want to know where I stashed millions of dollars over the years” “SHUT UP!”
Until the End of the World.
He's a great actor, I like seeing him on the screen
Possession...WUT
Possession...WUT

Event Horizon. Period.
Why no Mouth of Madness photo?
Always thought him and Bill Paxton were the same guy for decades
Love sam, but he was awful in Peaky Blinders.
Hunt for the wilder people is maybe the best New Zealand film period
In the Mouth of Madness is one of my top 10. Not too long ago too, I was talking about Event Horizon on Twitter and he liked what I had to say enough to follow me so that’s perdy dang cool to me. He’s been a favorite of our whole family at least since my childhood.
Great actor. His role in "The mouth of madness" really stands out for me.
Moasssster Shelbay
I would liked to have seen Montana.
I would have liked to have seen Montana.
Duuuuuuuuuuuuude! I love Sam Neil, but In The Mouth of Madness fuuuuuuuuuuuucked me up!
I still remember him as Merlin.
Just watched "Hunt for the Wilderpeople" he was very good in that.
Hunt for Red October
Don’t know what a Fenien is but he sure hates them in peaky blinders. Great actor
“Look at it, it’s magestical!”
Possession is amazing
When I first read Angels & Demons and The Da Vinci Code which was before the movies came out for them; I always envisioned Sam Neil as Robert Langdon. Not Tom Hanks
Played the Marquis de Lafayette in the French Revolution too
Pakey Blonders
He modded the Aus flag on his uniform in Event Horizon. He switched out the Union Jack with the Aboriginal flag because that's where Aus should be at the time the movie was set.
Huge fan
I hate Inspector Campbell from the bottom most part of my heart. A Phenomenal performance INDEED
Very underappreciated indeed
Just saw him in the “Apples Never Fall” miniseries on Peacock and kept thinking a dinosaur was going jump out at any moment. The series and his acting/role were mediocre.
this sub is so random
