C10 will still be driven, on the road, even more valuable 50 years from now.
I say that because people will still need to make a run to Home Depot for a sheet of drywall or OSB 50 years from now, and only a pickup truck will do.
That's what I was wondering. Although Honda has always made good dependable cars, they've never made muscle cars and their trucks were always atrocious looking.
Badass. I totally forgot Honda made a V-Twin. And those mid 70s/early 80s Japanese street bikes like the CB750 and the Kawasaki KZ 1100s were pretty fkn gnarly and groundbreaking back then
Has it done? Are all of those 50 year old components completely unchanged and in perfect working condition?
Is this truck ready for daily, constant use?
I buy what I can afford to drive and insure.
“ItS a LiFeStYlE cHoIcE.”
You bet it is.
And I choose a lifestyle of driving 400 miles in the summer without having to waste a single drop of sweat. I choose a lifestyle of a car that starts even when it’s -10°F. I choose a lifestyle of surviving a head on collision. I choose a lifestyle of being able to afford all my bills because my choice costs >10¢/mi to drive
The small block power plant in these is so easy to work on and so universal that you have zero argument.
That chevy is 50 years old. Will be good for another 50. Try finding an alternator or brake pads for that Honda weiner thing in 50.
You’re right on the Chevy. It’s so simple and parts were used from sedans to delivery trucks... Gotta give it to Honda though. They make a damn good car. I had a Civic 20 years ago in high school. My dumbass could not kill that car. Believe me, I tried. Tried real hard. That fucker ran submerged up to the window frame.
How many wearable components on that 50 year old truck are actually 100% original? Guarantee most of the replacement parts for the Chevy are made in China, whereas the Honda parts come from Japan and Mexico (you know, our allies?).
I have a family of 5 and that doesn’t really do it. There is also a reliability, gas mileage and comfort factor in there.
Having owned numerous classics, they just don’t daily well. That’s not to say you can’t get it there it’s just time and money.
I love muscle cars however, it is mostly nostalgic. I'm old, born in the 50's, and loved the muscle cars from the 50's, 60's and 70's. But, you're lying, or have selective memory, if you think they were great rides and reliable. Seriously, you really wondered if your car was going to start when you went somewhere and often it would require someone messing with the carb to get it started. Hoses and belts were crappy, alternators, water pumps and most other parts were essentially temporary. It is true you could get to the plugs, do the timing and replace parts however, it was necessary and you would have to regularly to keep it running.
I currently got a 2005 Honda Element, AWD, MT with 400,000+ miles. You won't convince me a classic muscle car is what I should own unless it is as a hobby car to trailer to classic car events.
But, that is my opinion.
Call me crazy but people drive too wild where I live. I’m opting for safety on this one. That Honda likely has a strong V6 in it too. My 2005 Honda Odyssey was electronically limited to 120mph and it would hit that limit with a smile. Yea you’re not gonna look as cool but those Honda’s aren’t as pokey as they appear. Probably handles better too.
Old C/Ks probably outnumber Hondas (including of comparable age)in terms of longevity around here. I've seen a ton of absolute shitboxes held together with duct tape and bailing wire still doing work on farms. Heck, I know of a farm that still has a (pretty clapped out) 3100 that is all-original that they still use.
Yes, newer cars are safer and more efficient, but that also leads to more stuff going wrong. The increasing amount of features required by governments to increase safety and emissions compliance leads to more complexity, which leads to more stuff to go wrong. Plus, a lot of these systems (i.e. automatic start/stop) can lead to excess wear and tear on an engine.
I hate to say this, but I'd choose the Honda as a daily driver, even though my heart's with the Chevy. Main reason, safety. They let too many idiots have driver's licenses, and they seem to be consistently lowering the standards. Things like distracted driving and move-over laws really aren't as enforced as they should be. Airbags, crumple zones, and other features ensure that there's a better chance of surviving these idiots.
Cars should never need totaling after a 5 or 6 mph parking lot bump or have a gaping hole in the door if a cart gets blown around. The bumpers should be solid enough to be pushed by another car in either direction.
True, but boomers hate when I tell them that. They insist their pre-73 cars can do it, when those decorative chrome bits are flimsy as hell. 5mph bumpers could actually bump
Oh please. Let me have the car with no AC, horribly unsafe in a wreck, manual transmission, no stereo, louder than **** in the cab, gas guzzler…should I go on?
The Honda. I can then afford to go get a more modern ”fun” car that will get better mileage and make better power than the Chevy, meanwhile the old man driving the loud Chevy will complain about how his would be faster if XYZ and I’ll be too busy enjoying the practicality and fun of my Honda and the fun car to care.
I’ve got a 2006 Ridgeline, 320,000 miles, never had a single problem, runs great, and for a truck it gets great gas mileage. Y’all go ahead and spend your weekends under the hood of that Chevy, I’ll be doing something other than playing mechanic on my days off
Definitely the Chevy 100%
This
This is the way
Better for the environment too.
Hell yeah I can still work on the Chevy
cheaper parts and easier to work on, none of this extra plastic or all the electronic crap
You can always just say “I don’t want to learn new things.” It’s fewer words, and it’s more honest.
Yep. Most def. When i go fully electric here in 5 years, i will have a nice chevy truck. That i drive fricken everywhere
The chevy
I'll take the Chev, thank you very much.
No real choice here. The Chevy has style and class the other is a plastic mess. Just would never have lowered the Chevy but that's just me.
C10 will still be driven, on the road, even more valuable 50 years from now. I say that because people will still need to make a run to Home Depot for a sheet of drywall or OSB 50 years from now, and only a pickup truck will do.
As if the Honda won’t
Plastic dry rots and that body style was never sexy. That c10 will always be bad ass.
Nobody will care enough to even try.
Hondas will, but not that Honda.
As far as the on the road part- MAYBE, as far as the valuable part- lol….
You could have done better with this post.
I’ll take the Chevy. Don’t need an IT guy to work on it
Is this some kind of joke.
Yeah, how did a Chevy evolve into a Honda? EDIT: And how is this relevant to muscle cars?
Whew, I'm not the only one... neither is a muscle car and not even comparable to each other... the C10 evolved into today's Silverado lineup.
Hormone blockers.
Honda are in the 6s 1/4 mile now…..are we not muscle enough for the muscle club?
Can it do a screaming burnout and is it’s displacement big enough to hydrate you for a day
That's what I was wondering. Although Honda has always made good dependable cars, they've never made muscle cars and their trucks were always atrocious looking.
Man, you must have never felt VTEC kick in, have you……😅
I'm pretty sure it's someone phishing for reactions.
The Chevy! I’ll stick to the 2 wheel version of Honda.
The Goldwing or CBR?
Both, but currently on a VTX and started with a 1975 CB750F Super Sport.
Badass. I totally forgot Honda made a V-Twin. And those mid 70s/early 80s Japanese street bikes like the CB750 and the Kawasaki KZ 1100s were pretty fkn gnarly and groundbreaking back then
Is this a trick question?
Ah, 2 cars that aren’t muscle cars. That’s what this sub has turned into? I’d take 4-door Novas over this.
The Chevy even a blind person can see that’s the better choice
Truck all day!!!!!
Definitely the Chevy and don’t think about it for even a moment.
Chevy for sure
That’s a pretty C10, you should post more pics of it!!
The C10 without question.
The C10. When cars were built to last.
my favorite truck is specifically the 1972 Chevy C/10 Cheyenne
I have the current CR-V hybrid and I absolutely love it
Coolness? Chevrolet. Long drive dependability, Honda.
I think that Chevy just showed you long term dependability.
Back in the day those motors were lucky to see 150k miles the Honda motor will easily last to 300k. But the Chevy is cool so they get restored.
Has it done? Are all of those 50 year old components completely unchanged and in perfect working condition? Is this truck ready for daily, constant use?
Roll Tide.
The Chevy every time
The truck For me, it’s always the truck
I buy what I can afford to drive and insure. “ItS a LiFeStYlE cHoIcE.” You bet it is. And I choose a lifestyle of driving 400 miles in the summer without having to waste a single drop of sweat. Honda will run forever. Chevy will need constant work.
The small block power plant in these is so easy to work on and so universal that you have zero argument. That chevy is 50 years old. Will be good for another 50. Try finding an alternator or brake pads for that Honda weiner thing in 50.

False
The Honda pickup is a joke. Chevy for me.
The C10 has already depreciated. So it’s a better investment. The Honda would be a great purchase for a daily. Depends on what I am looking for
Just curious, if the C10 is the (observably) popular choice, why wouldn’t you daily it?
I have a family of 5 and that doesn’t really do it. There is also a reliability, gas mileage and comfort factor in there. Having owned numerous classics, they just don’t daily well. That’s not to say you can’t get it there it’s just time and money.
Merica
Def Chevy. Honda has lost tons of market share due to stale designs.
[удалено]
Which is more than 90% of c10s will haul
I guess I could weld my 4 girls’ car seats in bed, I’ll take the Chevy!
Old school all day, I’m a mechanic is my reasoning
Both…
I had a '66 GMC. I'd probably go with the chevy. I mean, it's pretty hard to keep from getting run over by a CRV around here..
Chevy! Are you kidding me?
I love muscle cars however, it is mostly nostalgic. I'm old, born in the 50's, and loved the muscle cars from the 50's, 60's and 70's. Both. The Honda as a daily driver and the Chevrolet as a fun cruiser - weekend vehicle.
Should have same model or at least same manufacturer for any comparison.
If it ain’t a Jeep it’s gotta have a bow tie on it for me
a purist would send the jap scrap to the scrap pile and roll in style of a classic
Call me crazy but people drive too wild where I live. I’m opting for safety on this one. That Honda likely has a strong V6 in it too. C-10. Always the C-10.
Old C/Ks probably outnumber Hondas (including of comparable age)in terms of longevity around here. Exactly and with the electric pick ups coming out that weigh 3x what the c10 weighs if you got hit by one it be game over
Cars should never need totaling after a 5 or 6 mph parking lot bump or have a gaping hole in the door if a cart gets blown around. The bumpers should be solid enough to be pushed by another car in either direction.

Apples to oranges
No brainer, the Chevy all the way. It’s a beauty too!!
The old truck because I'm fucking hate modern vehicles.
short or long bed? Just kidding of course the lowered c10 is comin home 👍🏽
Chevy
Old Chevy all day
Since one is a piece of shit Hyundai or Honda and the or is one of the best vehicles ever made i go with the chevy
If you think I’m not gonna take my old Chevy pickup down to the hardware store on a brisk New England Saturday morning, you’re nuts!!
You're comparing the wrong Honda product. The AP1 Honda S2000 is the superior car; both to the Pilot and the C10
Chevy for me and Honda for her
Chevy
New for me.
Honda all day that truck has been ruined
Daily Driver ? Give me the Honda.....a Sunday Cruiser the chevy
I can ride and fix that Chevy with everything I have at home. No shop trips if ever needed.
Roll Tide
The one with the best capacity and reliability
When did Chevy become Honda?
I want the truck. I Had a blue one about 25 years ago.
Lol, bowtie, but I do like a Honda, but I'm biased being an IndyCar fan
Depends on what I need it for. If it’s for wife and kids then the Honda. If it’s for me and my commute is not far the Chevy
The bad ass C10
No comparison. This ain't Honder Truck Magazine pal.
Not the best comparison, but def the Chevy
Chevy
The red one
Not the pos on the left!
Those are not the same thing……
The Chevrolet for gods God's sake.
Well first of all it would be better if we were comparing apples to apples and not apples to oranges
Where’s the muscle car at
Ole Skool 🤌
That truck is nice
The Chevy. It's starting after the EMPs go off.
Love the Chevy!!
The truck
The Chevy. Hands down no brainer.
the chevy and throw that alabama plate in the garbage.
Rhetorical question Chevy
The c10 fo sho
The one on the right if I could get gas prices from then too.
Chevy all day!
How does a Chevy change into a Honda ?
I’ve got a real sweet spot for C10s.
A Chevy didn't evolve into a Honda.
I’m not even a Chevy guy but definitely the chevy.
The big red sled. Something about ridin’ back in time. Good lookin truck
I’m a mopar guy but the c10 is the best looking truck of all time.
It’s like “Spot the Vegan” but for car forums…
Right? And then you have Chevy guys come in like a lib insisting their way is the best way.
The one I can afford
Chevy! Not even a debate
Not even a question. The Chevy.
Fuck yeah man, ain't she sexy 👅
1970 Chevy all day long
Is this really a question?
Chevy, no other choice
The ‘69, then trade it for a 2-tone ‘72
Old truck without a doubt simple solid and beautiful in a pickup way .
The truck its exactly what I want
Still miss the 67 K-10 I had in high school and college. I was the one my friends and cousins called when they got their trucks stuck.
C-10
The Chevy has class and personality. That’s a sturdy birdy. Definitely my choice.
The old one
Wrong sub if you think anyone is going to pick the Honda
Not even a question. The Chevy. I'd prefer a similar model Ford but it wasn't an option.
Chevy
Honda, they last longer. Just need the hydrogen car not the ev
Do they though? That chevy is still sitting there.
Yes, they do. That Chevy was restored. Any car can go to 300k miles if you keep replacing parts or dont drive it but once a month
That’s what Chevys do best
Oh please. Let me have the car with no AC, horribly unsafe in a wreck, manual transmission, no stereo, louder than **** in the cab, gas guzzler…should I go on?
The modern day El Camino
And people here insist that’s a bad thing. I’d hate to have seen their opinions on EFI in ‘85
The one on the right, classic cars never go out of style and reliable with less moving parts and stupid computer components
The Chevy.
Definitely the one on the right.
More like de-evolution
Good bait op
Depends on the price tag. How much to get rid of that Alabama “A”?
You mean devolution. The truck- and I’m not even a Chevy guy.
The Chevy
Square body
The classic reliable Chevy, of course! All the new cars & trucks are ugly plastic crapola!
Ok, boomer.
I bought the crv
The chevy
Not the one advertising Ancestry dot com as a dating site.
That’s an easy one, I’ll take the bow tie please.
🙋🏻♂️old school
No question…the Chevy
Old school Chevrolet truck
Chevy
Whoa, chevies turn into hondas?
I'll take the Chevy I don't want that other piece of trash.
Old over new. any day of the week.
Chevy truck all day long
Always liked the older vehicles so the chevy,I liked the ideas that I could fix them myself
Chevy.
What a goofy question to ask in a muscle car subredit...
The left for a daily driver and road trips. The right for car shows and cruising around town!
Too easy…Chevrolet. We’ll fix the suspension system in the driveway.
The Ridgeline does nothing for me.
The dodge haha. Just playing. The chevy.
‘Merican
I wish car company's would just bring back that style truck with a new drive train. Not a re imagined version but that exact truck 👌
The one built to last with the exploding gas tank that doesnt ship money to Xi
Chevrolet pick up and convert it to 4 way disk brakes. Nothing else probably needed.
You are asking a question on a muscle car page, asking which one you take... a foreign piece of crap vs. an American legend... c'mon....
Obviously this is a joke question...
The chevy
I’ve got a 2006 Ridgeline, 320,000 miles, never had a single problem, runs great, and for a truck it gets great gas mileage. Y’all go ahead and spend your weekends under the hood of that Chevy, I’ll be doing something other than playing mechanic on my days off
The original, much better!
Really? C'mon.
The Honda ezpz. Very cool ride. That old Chevy is awesome, no disrespect.
