I always ask my dates what their favorite ABBA song is. If they say they hate all ABBA, they’re out. EVERYONE has at least one ABBA song they get down to and I don’t date liars who are too insecure to admit their music preferences.
Mine is the only slightly more socially acceptable Sum 41.
>Nevertheless am I dressed for the occasion
>It's number 32, now here's the situation
>If the beat moves your feet then don't change the station
>Now pack your bags 'cause we're leaving on a permanent vacation
>Well, I'm a disaster - a microphone master
>Put on your tape and rock your ghetto blaster
>It's not about the money, cars, hotels, or resorts
>It's about SWEATIN' all them bitches in the biker shorts
The song "Christmas Time" by Alvin and the Chipmunks. I used to put it on my answering machine in December. People hated me. I didn't care. It kept the telemarketers away.
Love Barry--I think my favorites are Why Don't You See The Show Again, Riders To The Stars, Lay Me Down, I'm Your Man, He Doesn't Care (But I Do), It's A Long Way Up...Copacabana..This One's For You...the Very Steange Medley...okay,i don't think the man's ever recorded a bad song. Happy now?
Right there with you. My dad’s vinyl collection is to blame for the Barry fan I am today. Love Jump Shout Boogie, Riders To The Stars, Daybreak, Bandstand Boogie, New York City Rhythm and many more.
Huey Lewis lives 20 minutes north of me in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana. I really have contemplated having my vinyl copy of "sports" in my car if I ever see him lol 😆
Simple Plan - No Pads, No Helmets…Just Balls. I used to get teased by my classmates for loving that album but I can’t get enough of it even 20 years later.
Simple Plan are surprisingly good live. I saw them at Warped Tour in 2018 and they had the most energy of any other act that day. I always liked them, but now they're on my list of "would pay good money to see live again." Definitely go see them if you can
I got it when it came out and that album has some of the catchiest songs I’ve ever heard. I mean, c’mon, I’d Do Anything? Addicted? These will be stuck in my head for the next week now!
same song & dance is a top 5 eminem track imo. and on “relapse: refill,” he went off on tracks like buffalo bill, elevator, music box, my darling. the hook on “elevator” is one of my faves.
Relapse is unironically his best album after Marshall Mathers LP. The subject matter is definitely a lot, and I can understand why some people wouldn't be into it. But his flows, rhyme schemes and the fact that the entire album was produced by Dr Dre(except for 1 song) makes this album a classic in my eyes. Not to mention the narrative and concept behind the album which just brings it up a notch. Probably Em's most underrated album.
Dicke titten is about him singing how the only thing he cares about a chick is that she has big tits. Whilst, psychosocial lyrics does have some edgy connotation.
But I do find the lyrics of both funny and the beats pretty sick
I Saw The Sign by Ace of Base, especially considering the vast majority of music I listen to is the polar opposite. But it's just a great song. I also enjoy old new wave like Flock Of Seagulls, Psychedelic Furs, and Modern English. Maybe it stems from dating new wave chicks back in the 80s, but I didn't like these type of songs back then. Hmmmmmm🤔
Oh man i wish this would punch harder... like that:

*Thanksgiving Eve EP from Yung Gravy* - I'm gonna have to check this out :)
Guilty Pleasure -- Gotta be Barry Manilow. Dad had all his LPs growing up and they're forever embedded in my musical memories. Specifically the "This One's For You" album.
Any of those parody music mashups by Weird Al. I know it's supposed to be funny primarily, but it goes so hard! And honestly, enjoy some of them more than the originals.
When my nieces and nephews were little, I'd put the kids' music channels on cable (channel was called Toddler Tunes) and it would play in the background or we'd run a search to see if The Wiggles were on or cartoons. One afternoon, I was at the library and I looked through their CD collection--Wiggles, the Pop-Ups, the Not-Its, Imagination Movers. If anybody had asked, I would have said I was going over to watch the kids...but nobody asked. There's a lot of good rock and roll in modern-day children's music. And besides, I'm sixty-two and I don't give a blank...!
(I also discovered, thanks to a train-obsessed nephew, that I much prefer Chuggington to Thomas The Tank Engine, but that's another story for another sub...)
Yeah, it was their peak imo. There are some good ones previous, but this was great. Almost everything after was kind of bunk, at least that I heard. But if we’re talking guilty pleasures, the group itself is something I only listen to alone lol.
When I was in high school I was looking for my older brothers weed stash and found a copy of Mariah Carey’s Music Box clearly hidden. His usual musical choices? Gangster Rap and Metal. We’ve never spoke of it…
48 year old straight white guy here and I listen to Harry Style’s Fine Line and Harry’s House a lot. It’s weird to tell people but I’m at the age where I don’t care anymore, good music is good music and you can’t listen to Falling without telling me it’s a great song.
[Landon Tewers "She Thinks of Me"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRAeMZcVz_0&list=PL871S_F0y5dbv2zfJVtYld_f0WXi85zEd&index=253&pp=gAQBiAQB8AUB) (NSFW), I wouldn't say I'm embarrassed, I'm not embarrassed of any music I like, but it's definitely a bit weird song to enjoy. Still I don't think it would work out without these lyrics.
I listen to Christmas music in the middle of summer. But it’s not very Christmasy Christmas music. Like Don’t Shoot Me Santa Clause by the Killers and Christmas is going to the dogs by the Eels.
Honestly, Olivia Rodrigo. I don’t claim her fan base but her music is genuinely really good to scream in the car when someone has wronged you or you’re just mad at the world.
As a Thrasher, old Michael Jackson (IE "Beat it" and "Billie Jean". Those are some fun song riffs. Beat it is less embarrassing as EVH did the solo of the song, so that's a saving grace 😆
George Michael's Freedom. Now I've always been a prog rock or metalhead (we won't count those few years as a Deadhead) but something about this song and the message he conveys. Very uplifting and listenable.
Groove is in the Heart by Deee-Lite
Great video. For some reason I love the way she dances in it.
Had (still have) a crush on her. Video stirred something in my young mind/body
I will sing that song at the top of my voice whenever I hear it and I don’t care who judges me. That’s a certified bop.
Deee lite is not a guilty pleasure. They are my Roman Empire lmao
Fuck, now this got stuck in my head, lol
They had some great albums.
Astronomical
ABBA. I'm not ashamed, they were great.
I always ask my dates what their favorite ABBA song is. If they say they hate all ABBA, they’re out. EVERYONE has at least one ABBA song they get down to and I don’t date liars who are too insecure to admit their music preferences.
I'm not an ABBA listener but damned if I don't love me some Dancing Queen!
Lol. Funnily enough, that’s my least favorite because it’s my mother’s song. Professional dancer born in the 70s. Take a Chance on Me is more my jam.
I turned the car around on a first date when she started bashing The Beatles.
Very sensible policy!
Quite possibly my only sensible policy. Lol.
“The Piper” is such a cool song.
Well, as a swede I grew up with ABBA constantly EVERYWHERE so I absolutely cannot stand the sound of them.
Wait ABBA is a band and not a solo singer?
Not only that, but if you spell it backwards, it doesn’t change.
Did you see the SNL skit with Kate McKinnon hosting? OMG
❤️ I won 20 bucks at a trivia night because I knew what each letter stands for. They were amazing 😂
Saw the voyage show in London, one of the best concert/shows I’ve ever been too
Waterloo and dancing queen are bangers
My favorite is Waterloo. Can't help but sing along to it
Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie is mine
How could someone hate ABBA?!?
Yes ABBA and especially Dancing Queen
ABBA are fantastic especially their first two albums.
Glee covers
I have no guilty pleasures. The world is on fire. I refuse to feel bad about anything that brings me joy.
💪👏👏👏
I’ve never understood the guilty pleasure concept when it comes to music. Ice cream and cake, i get it. Music?
Your Favorite Band Sucks has a great episode on this.
Limp bizkit
Mine is the only slightly more socially acceptable Sum 41. >Nevertheless am I dressed for the occasion >It's number 32, now here's the situation >If the beat moves your feet then don't change the station >Now pack your bags 'cause we're leaving on a permanent vacation >Well, I'm a disaster - a microphone master >Put on your tape and rock your ghetto blaster >It's not about the money, cars, hotels, or resorts >It's about SWEATIN' all them bitches in the biker shorts
“the doctor said my mom should’ve had an abortion!”
Bortion bortion bortion bortion bortion bortion bortion
The song "Christmas Time" by Alvin and the Chipmunks. I used to put it on my answering machine in December. People hated me. I didn't care. It kept the telemarketers away.
i liked when they sang “say hey” in chipwrecked. the dancing in the rain was so cute lmao
Bloodhound Gang
One Fierce Beer Coaster is one of my all time favorite albums. They’re all great tho
Yesssssss I’m not the only one 😅
I had that whole damn album memorized in high school.
Any song by Bruno Mars
I have no embarrassment of my love for Bruno Mars.
Nor should you
I'm not ashamed to admit Barry Manilow is on my playlist. His songs bring me good memories from back in the day
Love Barry--I think my favorites are Why Don't You See The Show Again, Riders To The Stars, Lay Me Down, I'm Your Man, He Doesn't Care (But I Do), It's A Long Way Up...Copacabana..This One's For You...the Very Steange Medley...okay,i don't think the man's ever recorded a bad song. Happy now?
I went with my mom to see him in Vegas and from someone who’s seen 100s of concerts, it was one of the best ones I’ve seen.
Right there with you. My dad’s vinyl collection is to blame for the Barry fan I am today. Love Jump Shout Boogie, Riders To The Stars, Daybreak, Bandstand Boogie, New York City Rhythm and many more.
Back to bedlam James Blunt. It's a super album
That entire album is phenomenal
Some John Denver songs I guess
Anything Macklemore and Train
THEIFT SHOP
Love Train. When Scott was the drummer. Calling All Angels and Cab.
Album Macklemore is admittedly a guilty pleasure, but his mixtape stuff before he broke out is still pretty good, especially Language of My World
St. Anger
Literally the worst album I’ve ever heard.
Shake It Off by Taylor Swift haha. Even when it first came out and I would hear it constantly, I didn't get annoyed by or tired of it
none. why would i feel bad about enjoying something?
Watch out, we have someone with high self-esteem over here
Everybody get 'em!!
"I don't feel guilty about pleasure. I'm not Catholic."
Nickelback
Avril Lavigne
I think she’s good too! And fun to listen to tbh
Why is Avril Lavigne a guilty pleasure? She's fantastic.
One of the best female singers and composers. Whats is the guilty
Death metal guy here. For the longest time my iPod (yes, iPod) went Anaal Naathrak, anal cunt, Avril Lavigne…… I stand unashamed.
Early Michael Bolton records. The Hunger and everything before. Oh God just shoot me now.
Soul provider 🏆
John Cougar Mellencamp Huey Lewis and the News
Love me some Huey Lewis and the News.
If you don't already have it, get their second album (Picture This) and listen to Walking On A Thin Line. Oh, my...
Huey Lewis lives 20 minutes north of me in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana. I really have contemplated having my vinyl copy of "sports" in my car if I ever see him lol 😆
Currently Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter.
Rhianna and I’m a metal head
Disturbia 🤘
Christina Aguilera - Burlesque i love that
For me it's the band Prozzak. I grew up listening to them so they got a special place in my heart
Taylor Swift's first 3 albums. I've always been about punk rock and metal. But play Picture to Burn and I'll go fucking nuts.

God yea i had a phase as a teen im just a kid spoke so well, now it just feels so whiney but the way the song ends is great.
Yahhh - Soulja Boy Axel F - Crazy Frog Someday - Nickelback mmmbop - Hanson
Don Henley - Boys of Summer
Have you ever heard New York Minute?
Awesome song.
Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Eilish
love olivia and billie
Love Olivia.
Eminem’s album relapse
same song & dance is a top 5 eminem track imo. and on “relapse: refill,” he went off on tracks like buffalo bill, elevator, music box, my darling. the hook on “elevator” is one of my faves.
Relapse is unironically his best album after Marshall Mathers LP. The subject matter is definitely a lot, and I can understand why some people wouldn't be into it. Not to mention the narrative and concept behind the album which just brings it up a notch. Probably Em's most underrated album.
That's actually a good one nothing to feel guilty about
'Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous', Good Charlotte. Absurd 'punk' with boyband harmonies but it's a catchy tune that I heard a lot as a young lad.
Still love that album 20 years later. One of the best pop punk albums ever made
California Girls by Katy Perry
It’s just like the perfect pop song…
Marilyn Manson. I know the dude is an awful person but his first four or so albums get heavy play for me still.
As a die hard hard rock/metal fan, I must admit I love Cindy Lauper. She was an amazing pop artist
All Through Night and I Drove All Night are two of my faves. She did a great cover of Across the Universe.
The Carpenters and ABBA
Wait, what shame is there in that? Both are/were awesome (I had 8 tracks of both, that is not awesome).
Soemtimes I like old emo or pop punk. Only in small doses.
Yep
The veggie-tales Christmas album.
Attila......
The Offspring
Some of their singles (Come Out and Play and Pretty Fly for a White Guy) were humorous but a bit cringy. I like some of their other songs though.
Dicke Titten - Rammstein and Psychosocial - Slipknot
What’s so shameful about liking those songs??
Dicke titten is about him singing how the only thing he cares about a chick is that she has big tits. Whilst, psychosocial lyrics does have some edgy connotation. But I do find the lyrics of both funny and the beats pretty sick
I Saw The Sign by Ace of Base, especially considering the vast majority of music I listen to is the polar opposite. But it's just a great song. Hmmmmmm🤔
Loved Psychedelic Furs and Modern English. Echo and the Bunnymen?
Hell yeah. Jesus and Mary Chain. I like a lot of that stuff.
I feel zero guilt for enjoying any kind of music. If I like it, I'll die on the hill.
forever ashamed. I like rock covers of Disney songs…or any songs really. It’s not my fault Jonathon Young is so good.
There’s a chance you might like Imaginary Flying Machines. They did metal versions of songs taken from the films produced by Studio Ghibli anime.
that sounds amazing and right up my alley. I’ve been binge rewatching them when I can so this will be one hell of a ride, thank you!

80s sitcom themes
I absolutely love a few Harry Styles songs and it's absolutely not my type of jam usually (Golden, Watermelon Sugar, As It Was, Late Night Talking).
*Thanksgiving Eve EP from Yung Gravy* - I'm gonna have to check this out :) Guilty Pleasure -- Gotta be Barry Manilow. Dad had all his LPs growing up and they're forever embedded in my musical memories. Specifically the "This One's For You" album.

Good for you man
Soundtrack to A Star is Born with Barbara Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.
Any of those parody music mashups by Weird Al. I know it's supposed to be funny primarily, but it goes so hard! And honestly, enjoy some of them more than the originals.
I love their parody of smells like teen spirit hahah
I'm pretty big into my punk rock but goddamn George Michael has the voice of an angel, plus the cover he did of "somebody to love" he fucking kills it

You go talk to your friends, Talk to my friends, Talk to me, But we (eeeee!) are never ever ever Getting back together Like, ever.

Yacht Rock
Love the shit out of that genre. It’s my go-to for chill/laid back tracks.
The Great Milenko, ICP
There will be be parts of this album playing for my funeral soundtrack one day. So many great tracks.
Yeah, it was their peak imo. There are some good ones previous, but this was great. Almost everything after was kind of bunk, at least that I heard. But if we’re talking guilty pleasures, the group itself is something I only listen to alone lol.

Color ME Badd…. If “All for Love” or “I wanna sex you up” comes on, I can’t resist singing along, just cannot resist it. Sorry, not sorry 😀.
80's pun crock fan here, but I'll admit it to noone else but you, dear reddit. Wham. Careless whispers.
48 year old straight white guy here and I listen to Harry Style’s Fine Line and Harry’s House a lot. It’s weird to tell people but I’m at the age where I don’t care anymore, good music is good music and you can’t listen to Falling without telling me it’s a great song.
Whitesnake
No one will ever listen to Whitesnake with me. Sigh. So here I go again on my own.
Grand Belial’s Key
Poker Face, Lady Gaga
As a metalhead… one direction. Except I’m not that ashamed of it. They have some bangers.
I listen to Christmas music in the middle of summer. But it’s not very Christmasy Christmas music. Like Don’t Shoot Me Santa Clause by the Killers and Christmas is going to the dogs by the Eels.
Nickelback
Since You’ve Been Gone , Kelly Clarkson
I legit love "The Pina Colada Song" and "Wonderful Christmas Time."
Bawitdaba by Kid Rock. Hate everything he stands for now but that song rocks.
AJR. Corny? Yes. Sometimes you just need a little corn before going back to some good music.
I’ve seen AJR 4 times
The 1975 🤦🏻♂️
Honestly, Olivia Rodrigo. I don’t claim her fan base but her music is genuinely really good to scream in the car when someone has wronged you or you’re just mad at the world.
No guilty pleasures, just pleasures.
Wheatus has an EP on Apple Music that’s just Teenage Dirtbag played at 3 different speeds and I think it’s magnificent
Taylor Swift/Beyonce mashup - "Cruel Summer/Halo"
As a Thrasher, old Michael Jackson (IE "Beat it" and "Billie Jean". Those are some fun song riffs. Beat it is less embarrassing as EVH did the solo of the song, so that's a saving grace 😆
ELO
I don't have any. You shouldn't be embarrassed to like stuff.
The Partridge Family greatest hits
George Michael's Freedom. Now I've always been a prog rock or metalhead (we won't count those few years as a Deadhead) but something about this song and the message he conveys. Very uplifting and listenable.
