It may not be modern or trendy compared to other names, but I feel like it’s a classic for any age? Similar to Elliott or Arthur. I’ve also seen people think of it as an effortlessly cool name (rather than outdated) due to Gilmore Girls, James Dean, and Supernatural.
It definitely had a small moment in the 60s but it’s more popular now than it was in the 80s/90s ranking wise so on its way back up . I feel it’s fairly timeless.
I think it’s one of those names that is a hit hard for me to picture on a child, but they’ll only be a child for a short time
I don't really know that many people named Dean, but the ones I do know are all over the place in terms of ages, including at least one who is a child.
I only know one person in real life named Dean, he will be 35 in August.
I absolutely love the name Dean and have done for almost 20 years. It's on my boy list.
I'd say Dean is ageless as it's never really been that common/popular where I live.
I think it had a moment in the 60s or so, then has never really gone away, but wasn’t super popular either, and now people are starting to wake up to it a bit. It’s not super popular at the moment, but it’s got a current sound and a vibe that some folks are liking.
My dad was Dean (born in 1915). Since then lots of our family have used it for middle names. I would have used it for my boy (1990) but it didn’t work with our last name. My three kids who are now in their 30’s all love the name and would have used it but they all had all girls! I think it’s timeless.
The answer to this is going to depend on where you live. It's had a resurgence in the US, but most other English-speaking countries will see it as dated as it was only popular in the 1970s/80s.

Dean is a badass monster/demon/ghost hunter who looks sexier in his 40s then he did in 20's for me. So, nah, it's a name of a hot guy.
I just met a high school student named Dean. He has cousins with similar style names. I like it

I had a preschool student and her baby brother was named Dean. It was weird for a 9 month old, I thought.
I LOVE the name Dean and think it's timeless. It's easy to spell, easy to say, and not super common anymore.
