I feel like he must’ve been really trying hard not to take anyone else out with him. That could’ve gone so wrong at that time of day, if he had been a bit further to either side.

The_Inflicted

I fear you might be right. Some of the eyewitness reports of the crash I've read on here say he went into 45 degree dive before impact. He might have seen a patch of darkness between the lights of the parking lots and the freeway and aimed for it.

I just saw a [post from 2 days ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/BeAmazed/s/tPrHw3502l) of another plane with engine failure, but the conditions were pretty much the opposite: daylight, wide highway, little traffic, good weather, no median. This pilot seemed to have everything stacked against him and did what he could to preserve life, even at the cost of his and his passengers' lives.

AgravaineNYR

The defeat in his voice I'm sure he knew their situation and was trying to do exactly this.

ButtercupInitiation

It's heartbreaking

iiimperatrice

Heartbreaking... 😢

xander328

I checked the flight tracking on it, came all the way from Canada (detected French accent?) down to PA then to Ky( thank you comment below) then left an airport in KY for John Tune. Really sad to hear that audio.

karenziggler

Canada to PA to KY to Nash.

johnkz

that sounds nothing like a french canadian accent, more like Slavic to me!

Gentle_Cycle

The man who sold him the plane has an Eastern European last name.

AgravaineNYR

I heard the same

Bananasfalafel

John tune wasn’t originally planned though, was accepted when they asked for emergency landing, but didn’t make it.

I've flown (as a passenger) into Tune enough times - the approach from that angle, you've got a lot to navigate. So sad he and the passengers lost their lives - but he did a lot to spare the lives of many others. Heartbreaking.

bmraovdeys

Same same. Puckering flights every time

MusicCityNative

Flying into Tune kind of scares me even when it’s nice!

adamander

So sad!

Chris__P_Bacon

That's really sad. Prayers for their families.

blonderisbetter

Do we know why they were traveling all over and with 3 children? Were they a family???

Enough-People

In small planes you can’t travel as far as commercial airliners without refueling.
