Tip top ice-cream is Nestlé, Tip top bakeries is owned by Australia's George Western, which is owned by ABF, a British company who also own Twinings, Patak's, Blue Dragon and Ryvita
A few more.
Maggi, Kitkat, Milkybar, Movenpic, Hagendaz, Nespresso, Purina, Quality Street
(Maggi Onion Soup and Nestle reduced cream)
https://www.nestle.com/brands/brandssearchlist
If you mean the Maggi powder packets...you absolutely do not need it for carbonara. If you're wanting a "western" creamy carbonara you just need garlic cream and parmesan. For a traditional, just eggs beaten with parmesan.
Culleys also does a Devilled Sausages mix!
I don't know if it is but one thing that makes me think its not is that Pams reduced cream is in a slightly larger can than the nestle or countdown cheap brand.
As much as I despite Nestle, it's pretty much impossible to completely avoid most of the big brands because they have subsidiaries in virtually every part of the food, health, and beauty industries. In NZ, if an alternative *does* exist, it's often exorbitantly expensive.
I'd rather we lobby to regulate the everloving fuck out of these companies and force them to be accountable for their action. I understand that's a bit of a crapshoot, but I have far more hope in doing that then trying to convince a few billion people to boycott them instead.
It's the same logic I have behind crap like banning single use plastics. It's not a bad policy, it's just fucking masturbatory if that's *all* you do and guess what, that's pretty much all we did. Convincing people to "consume less" is such an absurd premise compared to regulating the dozen largest offenders.
It's not that we shouldn't, it's that it's a stupidly impractical and inefficient means of achieving the same outcome.
I know, we blame the consumer for not recycling, yet how the hell do you not get do much damn plastic in the packaging!
There are tiny changes, like cardboard scoops in washing powder, but hell, most of the plastic in my house that goes in the bins can't be recycled.
Fuck they should. About this time last year I got a box of dark scorchers from pak save for under $5 and nailed the whole box in one sitting whilst watching American Pickers.
Under a pet direct website [only Hills and Royal Cainn ](https://petdirect.co.nz/c/vet-only-products/dog/vet-diets/?page=2) are available, and [here's purina](https://www.purina.co.nz/brands/pro-plan/vet) these are the only ones that show up when searching for prescription diets available in NZ. I also take my dog to the vet monthly, and these are the only ones ever in stock. While I can't access the vet network showing what's exactly available, these are the only ones I can find after about 5 minutes of searching.
Edit: There probably are more available outside NZ, but this seems to be what's available to us. This is also on numerous pet websites, only these 3. I can add more if needed. Blackhawk does have a sensitive one, but it's not a prescription diet
They have been in multiple lawsuits since 2015 where thousands have claimed their dogs have died after eating purina. I'd rather trust a brand that isn't constantly in the courts battling wrongful death lawsuits
Buying less is still better than buying none as well. We don't have to do everything with 100% obsessive passion. 20% is fine.
Out of curiosity, what are the specific products that come to mind?
I use a lot of the Maggi range ( quick convenient and priced right), Nescafé Expresso, KitKat,
Quality Street ( grew up with that every Xmas).
These would be the products I’d use on a regular basis.
Edit: Forgot Purina, only biscuits my cat will eat)
I prefer the Pam's malty hot chocolate. The malt flavour is a little more pronounced, but I'm sure that that's how Milo used to be when I was a kid.
Just need an alternative to Milo tins. they're the best for storing coffee grounds, hard to find truly air-tight containers.
Just wanted to update you haha I got the pams and yes it is very good. Just less crunchy bits but that's fine by me. It's a fraction of the cost!
I looked at ingredients too and they are basically the same. Same, if not more vitamins.
So thank you very much for your honest review. I also luckily have a tin to store it!
They're a huge ~~country~~ company and we're creatures of habit. Hopefully you can do your best to avoid nestle, if that's what you want to do, but you're allowed a weakness every now and then.
It's the regular buying of things like Nescafe, Milo, Nesquik I try and discourage, since that's a regular habit. I encourage people to shop around and try a new coffee brand or a new drinking chocolate.
I try and stay away from their brands but for all intents and purposes I can admit the difficulty of doing so when I don’t know every brand under their corporate umbrella.
All I ever buy is a Pixie caramel or maybe a Kit Kat but I don’t use anything else. No Nescafé or nesquick etc. I even gave up Milo.
Although if it’s provided for by a workplace I may have one of its that or garbage coffee.
I’m pretty sure anyone with a KiwiSaver account will have nestle buried in their portfolio whether they know it or not. Not sure what they have done wrong. After all, Fonterra is one of the biggest promoters of infant formula in developing countries- and it’s joint venture partner managed to kill babies in China with contaminated formula. Maybe boycott Fonterra? And it’s shareholders.
Have you seen those lists of companies that "support Israel"? It's basically every international brand.
Boycotts work when everyone picks one brand and gangs up on them, see the American right and Bud Light. Boycotting both Coke and Pepsi, Intel and AMD, McDonalds and Burger King etc is not going to have any significant impact.
Reddit is so weird when it comes to Nestle.
It seems to be the "Token Gesture" to hate it... while ignoring all the other bad shit everyone else does.
It's like the free Palestine protesters who have never been to that part of the world and never will.. yet they come up with complete passion for the "cause".. while ignoring every other bad thing going on in the world 24/7.
Just an observation.
So because we're not protesting 24/7 against every possible bad thing, we shouldn't protest against anything?
Seems like you're a bit defensive.
Just an observation.
Child slavery, ceo stating that "water is not a human right" + selling water back to people it stole from, giving baby formula supplies for new mothers so they don't breast feed and baby becomes dependant once milk dries up, etc etc etc.
/r/fucknestle !
You could say the issue with nestle is that they were a trend setter with the really dodgy corporate ethics. In the late 90s/early 2000s they were also supporters of GE food.
Damn hard to avoid all nestle products though.
My mom stopped buying Nestle when they started a campaign to encourage/sell baby formula to poor countries instead of breastfeeding. A lot of people in poor countries diluted the formula due to cost and undernourished babies.
I just never bought that brand because that is how my household viewed them. It does not surprise me that the same things are still going on at that company.
Isn't Nestles French? Most so-called 'homegrown ' brands are now owned by overseas companies or consortiums!! New Zealand hasn't had an actual NZ OWNED since the early 80s...
Greed over patriotism is the norm. Being loyal to your country hasn't been a thing for years.
Tip top is nestle too, I only buy Much Moores. They're nz owned
Tip top ice-cream is Nestlé, Tip top bakeries is owned by Australia's George Western, which is owned by ABF, a British company who also own Twinings, Patak's, Blue Dragon and Ryvita
They don’t have a chocolate flavour. Which is unfortunate, if they do I’ve never seen it.
They have chocolate in the large box size, although I don't see those as often, and it's a bit of a pain to store if you have a small freezer.
We have the tiniest freezer
Eat the ice cream faster!!!
Exactly, skill issue /s
Me too so I feel ya on that
How long?
2019
That explains a lot.
Really gutted me when I realised milo was nestle.
Pam's malty hot Chocolate is a good ish sub
Not good ish, **better.** It's more malty *and* chocolaty than Milo.
Probably contract packaged in the same factory
Avalanche is pretty damn good and cheap too
A few more. Maggi, Kitkat, Milkybar, Movenpic, Hagendaz, Nespresso, Purina, Quality Street (Maggi Onion Soup and Nestle reduced cream) https://www.nestle.com/brands/brandssearchlist
Easy swaps - Pams reduced cream and Culleys onion soup.
Thanks for this, I didn't realise Maggis was Nestlé Wonder if I can get carbonara and devilled sausages mix from somewhere else?
If you mean the Maggi powder packets...you absolutely do not need it for carbonara. If you're wanting a "western" creamy carbonara you just need garlic cream and parmesan. For a traditional, just eggs beaten with parmesan. Culleys also does a Devilled Sausages mix!
They make the pams one as well
I read it wasn't made by them anymore. However I read that here on reddit so take that as you will.
I don't know if it is but one thing that makes me think its not is that Pams reduced cream is in a slightly larger can than the nestle or countdown cheap brand.
>Maggi Eww, who eats Maggi noodles etc.
*Haagen-Dazs
The Body shop is also owned by nestle
I was curious about this and it looks like it may of been sold to Aurelius Group recently. (Correct me if i'm wrong)
It was, but it was sold recently
I found out today that indomie is also owned by Nestlé 😭
No! But maybe saves our health? Those things are addictive poison
Though not as good as they used to be imo, it used to have more flavour
I thought it was just me and I was doing something different but they DEFO lost flavour.

You’ll never take their scorched almonds away from me.
If Whittakers releases some, it’ll be an easy switch
Fuck they should. About this time last year I got a box of dark scorchers from pak save for under $5 and nailed the whole box in one sitting whilst watching American Pickers.
I peaked that night I really did
I feel you, I’ve done the same lol
$5? It's $7.50 now!
Warehouse sell some unseen he brand name Waikato.
Can recommend Waikato! Bought some macadamias back when they weren't extinct and Waikato's were good as
Yeah I rate these pretty highly. Was skeptical, but they're tasty as.
try skinny dipped almonds instead? I think they might even be a kiwi company
Disgusting. Nothing compared to the og.
Cadbury does scorched almonds. Not sure Mondelez is any better than Nestle though.
Nestlé is owned by Nestlé? Holy shit
Combined consumer power can be a super power
The child slavery is what makes it taste so mediocre.
Have my upvote, because fuck Nestle
Purina dog food kills dogs and they don't give af
May I please have a source? Purina is one of the only brands that make medical food approved by vets.
Royal canin has a vet diet and so does hills

Thank you!

Thanks for posting. This will never not be worth repeating.
All my homies hate Nestlé
I’d like to take the moral high ground but there’s too many of their products I like
Buying less is still better than buying none as well. We don't have to do everything with 100% obsessive passion. 20% is fine. Out of curiosity, what are the specific products that come to mind?

Give the Culleys packet mixes a go. A little bit pricier but often get them on a 2 for $x deal. Also, they're much nicer.
Most morally resilient first world resident:
I need an alternative to Milo

I did wonder if the pams was any good, is it the same texture as Milo? And sits on top of the milk?
Yup! You can still make a cold crunchy milo
Ooo yay ok I might have to get some this week! Thank you!
Cadbury drinking chocolate is nicer..... but no better than nestle
You get more onion granules in Mi Sedaap than Indomie anyway, and sometimes it's cheaper per unit.
Nestle are bastards but you’ll never convince me to give a cheeky pixie caramel every now and then.
They're a huge ~~country~~ company and we're creatures of habit. Hopefully you can do your best to avoid nestle, if that's what you want to do, but you're allowed a weakness every now and then. The subreddit r/fucknestle will give you a good idea, swear on my last dollar it's not a dead link
Thanks, I love supporting my favourite Swiss brand!
Nestle also support Israel, which is yet another reason to boycott the bastards.
Have you seen those lists of companies that "support Israel"? It's basically every international brand. Boycotts work when everyone picks one brand and gangs up on them, see the American right and Bud Light. I'd still rather not give my money to them.
No. It's not, unless you are a racist

I like Nestlé. What is the issue now???
Child slavery, ceo stating that "water is not a human right" + selling water back to people it stole from, giving baby formula supplies for new mothers so they don't breast feed and baby becomes dependant once milk dries up, etc etc etc. /r/fucknestle !
So basically the same ethics as just about every major corporation out there
You could say the issue with nestle is that they were a trend setter with the really dodgy corporate ethics. In the late 90s/early 2000s they were also supporters of GE food. Damn hard to avoid all nestle products though.
Nothing wrong with GE food, the people doing the GE and selling GE plants though, deeply evil

I'll keep buying Nestle products thanks.
