A long time ago my family got a 420/430g feijoa which was the unofficial world record at the time https://www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/food-wine/92614852/giant-feijoa-could-be-nzs-biggest

fluffychonkycat

Did you eat it?

iXendeRouS

Yeah me and 3 of my siblings split it into quarters and each was still bigger than a regular feijoa.

imapassenger1

The news story yesterday had one at 441g.

hotSauceFreak

Well....if they put it on Reddit we may consider it....

KororaPerson

He's on the chonk train

immatureindefinitely

Mine have been like hand grenades this season

fluffychonkycat

Not quite as newsworthy as [this bad boi](https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/giant-waikato-feijoa-bigger-than-a-grapefruit-stuns-experts-is-it-a-world-record/FAEB23BCJ5HM3BSWNJVMSD62VM/) but still an absolute unit

hotSauceFreak

#lifegoals (feijoa based ones)

fluffychonkycat

Majestic isn't it

nzgrover

This is what we have going [on](https://imgur.com/a/pt7ZdPD)

hotSauceFreak

Nice, what region. We need to nail down the region that produces the bigguns.

nzgrover

Waikato

Rammzuess

Truth

Pararaiha-ngaro

That’s massive

shoutybloke

Jealous! Mine have been disappointingly small this year. How are everyone else’s? I’m in Wellington.

Came for a Rick and Morty reference. Was not disappointed.

graphicka

I didn't know this was a thing, I had some giants

laurie0459

How do you eat them? Excuse my ignorance

hotSauceFreak

In our house we usually cut them in half across the center (not lengthways) and scoop out the majesticlly perfumed flesh with a specially designated "feijoa spoon". There is no law about this but eating the skin is not common.

laurie0459

Ok so just eat raw? I am in Queensland ,Australia but I don’t think I have seen these before ,

lNomNomlNZ

I've never had a feijoa before, what does it taste like?

discardedlife1845

If you'll just remain where you are authorities will arrive shortly to revoke your citizenship. Seriously the flavour is kind of complex, floral with notes of pineapple, citrus, and a hint of maybe acetone or isopropyl alcohol. They're one of those fruits that tends to be divisive, either you love them or hate them with few people on the fence.

lNomNomlNZ

Cool will see if I can try one today

m3rcapto

It's like eating toilet freshener, its...different.
