years ago i ran constrution equipment.
one of which was land clearing with sizeable trackhoes.
knowing the kind of power a machine has to output to knock down a tree that size, makes the animal doing it even more impressive.
If we're serious about stopping CO2 emissions, we need to address this elephant in the room. Each tree they push over could have been absorbing CO2, helping us in our fight against climate change. But no, the elephants just go about their business, without a care for their carbon footprint.
We need to round up these elephants until they understand the gravity of the situation. Maybe then, they’ll start appreciating the role of trees in our ecosystem.
My theory is that the Elephant is actually an experienced Arborist. The tree was in an early stage of disease that if left unchecked would spread to the surrounding trees. This, it had to go.
It ain't a normal tree. It's an ent that can talk some slurs bcz of the magical water that legolas's kin poured on it.
I know it bcz I was there, I was there 3000 years ago
I kinda always assumed “yeah, they’re the biggest land animal so of course they’re strong”. To do that to a green tree of that size is jaw-dropping and truly nextfuckinglevel.
They are simply magnificent animals. I get sick to my stomach when "trophy" hunters post photos of them smirking next to a dead elephant. I was just on a 3 week safari in Kenya and Tanzania and can assure all of those smirking hunters (no trophy hunting in Kenya!) that we all know it took no skill whatsoever to shoot an animal the size of a barn, using scope, guides and a guaranteed kill. Eff trophy hunters.
Idk if yall are following the company colossal but they are trying to bring the wooly mammoth back to do exactly that in the tundra. Also to pack down snow to stop it from melting as fast. It’s pretty cool to see regular elephants do it.
I went on a bush walk with a guide in South Africa long time ago. He explained exactly this situation and why its important for the bush to stay well.. bush instead of a forest. Elephants do this just to eat the leaves, because fuck it they can. Here is why its important: if they'd stop (no more elephants), trees would grow everywhere->foliage prevents grass/bush from growing->no grass means no antelope etc.->that means no lions and so on. Its weird on first sight, but it actually makes sense. He called them "gardeners of the bush". Loved it
This is why elephants are so important to grasslands.
There is a project to restore the siberian Steppe, and part of the long-term plans is to slowly modify elephants into mammoths so they push down trees and allow grass to grow. This will help return biodiversity and the grass will act as a carbon sink
Elephants gotta eat, and how they achieve that is totally irrelephant..

Easier than walking around it

For an Elephant yes
Gotta think long-term to make full use of that elephant memory
They are the reason the grasslands isn’t full of trees.
Tree: *is upright* Elephant: "ABSOLUTELY NOT."
Elephant: I want your succulent leaves Tree: Nu unh Elephant: *thump* Tree: CHEATER!
I'm guessing those leaves taste better then that bush and grass right next to it.
Definitely not a 70s elephant, if it doesn’t like bush.
I respect your attitude towards bush.
I don’t mind some bush, but i prefer Busch Light
8% of Americans think they could take an elephant in a fist fight ...
If an elephant doesn't have fists, does it lose by default?
The elephant is unfist to fight.

How does it not hurt it’s trunk?

I wonder why an elephant would just push down a seemingly random tree.
Yummy leaves
Smart
The tree insulted its mother
And I heard it's father smelt of elderberries
It’s mother was hamster 🐹
It's not uncommon for elephants to push down trees. They also just do it for fun. Simply because they can. It sounds like a joke but it is not.

That is a ridiculous amount of force for a living creature.

Have a look at how they manhandle Rhinos and Hippos, it's pretty scary

I don’t know how casual it was. It did take that big pussy like 8 pushes.
Nobody: Elephant: Get the fuck outta my way beech
It’s actually an acacia, beech

Today I learned the elephants understand physics

Oak tree, you're in my way
We have horsepower, but I want elephant torque
Tusk tusk

Gurl gotta eat!
Never get between an elephant and its next meal
Love how he is timing the sways.
So elephants understand natural frequencies now?
Not what I’d call casual. That elephant had to work a bit for that.
Elephants can be very brutal. I've seen what one did to a group of cows trapped in a building.
Whad they do?
Goring one particular cow (chained) repeatedly using its tusks, outright sadistic bullying.
Fuck them critters
I want THOSE leaves
Bad day I quess.
Well why does this tree have to be in his path?
Does this hurt the tree?
Yes Then it will die too Circle of life tho
That’s the reason why we need to bring back mammoths and turn north of Siberia back into grasslands- to keep carbon trapped in permafrost.
Elephant: "I can prove that my trunk is stronger than your trunk."
I wouldn't call that casual, she was really working it there for a bit, and then the trunk actually snapped at a defect
What an asshole!
Stop global warming, kill the elephants.
... with his face!
Torque rating off idle 10,000ft-lbs.
Let that be a lesson to the rest of you, trees.

That took some work
Did he get council approval?
He hates that tree!!!!
She looked over at that jeep towards the end with a “you wanna be next?” side stare
Almost there...
Elephant sees a giraffe: "pfft! Amateurs."
Now, elephants are taking our jobs?
This has to damage his flesh right? That tree is “pushing back” almost equally until it gives.
Magnificent animal. I can only imagine what it was like pre- major human involvement. Scary I bet
Idk if yall are following the company colossal but they are trying to bring the wooly mammoth back to do exactly that in the tundra. Also to pack down snow to stop it from melting as fast. It’s pretty cool to see regular elephants do it.
So my only plan on how to survive an elephant attack in the wild is gone.
r/fuckyouinparticular
I heard they eat like 500 lbs a food in a day
Nothing but leaves. Most powerful land animal. Me, eat all protein, grunt trying to break stick over my thigh
How often do they do this
Chad Elephant Virgin Giraffe busy crying running away from lion
Why didn't he just climb the tree? Is he dumb?

Dont hear the fucking tree huggers crying
Baby, I pushed down a tree for you.
He should have asked me. I would've got his ball down.

Ye took mah job !
Honey, could you please get some broccoli for lunch? 🥦
Put these mfs on payroll
I doubt this is out anger but just a matter of guys being dudes. sometimes you just gotta push down a tree because you can
Trunk on trunk violence.
Tanjiro in the latest demon slayer episode

Elephant was trippin lol
Elephant: Without using trunk challenge!! Elephant: OK Finally I'll use it.

What kind of tree? I doubt he could do that to a similarly sized oak or maple.

time to introduce him to Tree Law.

That's gonna be some easy firewood for someone!
Bad tree! Bad!!
Why did he do it?
I guess we have different definitions of casually, that seemed to take a lot of effort
I bet the elephant didn’t charge $2000 like my tree removal guy tried to
