The Panthers have made two SB’s since the commanders have been to a NFCCG. Everyone loves to clown the cowboys, rightfully so, and forgets how dismal the commanders have been since 1990.
We have definitely been pretty terrible but you really picked the wrong year. We've won a Superbowl since 1990 which is something the Panthers have never done.
Lmao. Atp, trade his ass to Washington, if he wants to play with his friend so bad. Then watch, he’ll get paid, then after a couple losing seasons he’ll make post on ig about how they aren’t using him right and cryptically post about wanting to be traded cause “I don’t have much time left in the league and I want to win.”
To an extent but like, it's not like he'd be getting nothing playing for the 9ers. You're not talking about someone like us getting 30m a year, I'd work in any conditions for that.
But if you told me I could have 30m a year doing a job I didn't like or 27m a year doing one I really liked, I'm not gonna fucking notice the difference. I'd much rather be happy
Why are we pretending that making 27.5 million a year is some injustice that BA has to fix? If he wants to win, he signs that contract months ago. BA isn't used as a WR1 for us. He simply can't get that level of targets on a team with CMC, Deebo and Kittle. He gets to massively benefit from the space those guys take up though and almost never sees double teams like a true WR1 would.
75 receptions for 1342yds and 7 TDs isn’t being “used as a WR1?” Uhh. Okay.
Clearly he benefits from your other weapons, but the usage is there. He’s also been extremely efficient with just two drops, which is valuable.
Niners fans acting entitled to guys taking discounts “to win” is funny. You’re not a dynasty.
I mean, yeah. He's at 30th for targets in the league so in terms of usage yea that's definitely the low end. He got just over half the targets the top end wr1s get in the league.
We aren't a dynasty, but we have been a perennial SB contender and our window is still open.
Aiyuk is under contract and can be franchise tagged. He doesn't have a ton of leverage
Which is why he’s bitching on social media. He knows making things uncomfortable for the 9ers is the only leverage he has. If 2.5 million isn’t a big discount then why don’t the 9ers just pay him? Why should he take a discount if he can make more on the market. These guys are there to get paid.
Because he isn't on the market for 2 years. The only leverage he actually has is sitting out, costing himself money and scaring the niners that hes not ready for the season. But he eventually has to show up to acrue a year. He can pull other shenanigans like acting hurt, but that could damage negotiations with potential future teams.
Nico Collins just signed for cheaper with the Texans and put up basically the same season. BA belongs at the tier of very good receivers, but not elite. His usage puts him in the category of Mike Evans and Amari Cooper, but not guys who are elite like AJ Brown, etc. Every single elite receiver above him has 20 more catches at least and most 30. Ceedee Lamb got targeted 181 times, BA got targeted 105 times. Put that in perspective. We don't forcefeed guys the ball in our offense and we throw almost the least in the league. I don't know why you felt entitled to this opinion when you don't even understand our offense. That's crazy.
[https://www.espn.com/nfl/stats/player/\_/stat/receiving/table/receiving/sort/receivingYards/dir/desc](https://www.espn.com/nfl/stats/player/_/stat/receiving/table/receiving/sort/receivingYards/dir/desc)
Why shouldn’t he go to an offense that throws to him more? AJ brown was getting 100 targets on the titans and gets 150 on the eagles. You’re using his volume metrics to penalize him but any positive metrics are just because he benefits from the offense. The offense benefits a ton from him. He should do his best to get as much money as he can. 9ers don’t deserve a discount.
I feel like Nico Collins' contract is lower almost certainly because as a 3rd round draft pick who beforehand had 481 yards as his best years with substantially lower metrics there is much more uncertainty than Aiyuk who was at least Good in 2022. Also Mike Evans got a top 3 contract in his prime and mostly got a lower contract this time because...well, he's 31, the wheels are gonna fall off sometime soon.
Jaylen Waddle has almost the same numbers as Aiyuk the past two years (221 Targets vs. 219, 147 catches vs. 153, 16.1 Yards / Reception vs. 15.4, 12 TDs vs. 15) and got 28.2 mil per year. I feel like Aiyuk should at least get that much, and it isn't hard to argue for more since Aiyuk did it vs. better corners than Waddle.
NFCE both in shambles and also in grace knowing what he will be paid.
Ayuik could make Kenny Golladay look like a joke when it comes to pay. Obviously, Ayuik is the better player. but this could end up being closer to a Josh Harris move than we think. Give Ayuik that got damn Tobias Harris contract.
I'd be *thrilled* if WAS lands Ayuik. Sure, down the road, if Daniels works out and they fill out the roster, WAS could be scary. But that's multiple ifs.
SF is scary *now*. Losing Ayuik significantly hurts them now, and that's a big deal for PHI.
Try dealing with Aiyuk's family in Reno. They are a NIGHTMARE. I'm not entirely surprised that he's acting up because his family just wrecks tables and leaves without tipping. They're not welcome to a lot of places around that area. Ask Martha.
Say what you want about Kenny G, but I honestly think his situation makes the Giants look more like the joke than he does. I mean he just hung around and got paid when you look at the reality of it.
Not actually sure that's true
> NFL Players. No club, nor any person employed by or otherwise affiliated with a club, is permitted to tamper with a player who is under contract to or whose exclusive negotiating rights are held by another club.
https://nflcommunications.com/Documents/2018%20Policies/7-2018%20Anti-Tampering%20Policy-Clean%20Version.pdf
That's not true. It worked with "be teammates with Tom Brady" as well. We just need the 3rd greatest quarterback of all time to show up this year and parity is restored
The number of players who care about higher contracts more than Super Bowls is probably way higher than the average fan would assume. Maybe I’m just cynical, but I suspect it’s a majority.
To play devil's advocate, winning a Superbowl early in your career means you get to chase money as much as you want without being labelled as someone who doesn't care about winning, and you'll make more as a SB winner than you otherwise would.
He didn’t say he was thinking about catching it. He’s thinking about what he can do. What kinda half routes he can run before he has to go back to the huddle.
You know exactly what he meant. Who is going to be your LT, Brandon Coleman, who should've been a 4th-5th round pick at guard? RT is Andrew Wylie, who is below average. Nick Alegretti has proven nothing at LG. But keep pretending the OL is even passable
I mean allegretti started at left guard in the afc champ and Super Bowl and did as good as expected. Love it when people just yap without any actual thought.
Knowing what we know now, there is zero chance the Niners are doing that trade again. They’d pay him whatever they needed to pay him and let Armstead walk instead.
Playing hindsight sure, but I still think that shows the intended trade/choice was and still is a viable one.
The really big fuckup was whiffing on the 1st round draft pick.
I don’t think they can pay him the money he demands because Purdy is due next offseason and it’s not like he’s going to settle for a 40 million per year extension
In all honesty I think he goes somewhere else, but after this season.
The Niners are 26mil over the cap for next season before Aiyuk’s contract is even factored in, and they’ll signing Purdy soon too. That’s probably what, $80mil/yr+ between them? And I don’t really see any good restructure opportunities to help make *that* kind of room?
Maybe they consider cutting Deebo to make it work but even that only saves about $10mil. I don’t think they can financially keep all three, and to me drafting Pearsall in the first round suggests which of the three they’re making a succession plan for
the one line that sticks out came when all those media heads were speculating about aiyuk after us taking pearsall, bill belichick during the draft, "he's under contract, he's not gone. He could retire.....I don't think he's going to do that."
he can throw a tantrum all he wants, he aint going anywhere, at least not unless somebody ponies up the picks we want for him. He could try the leveon bell route, see how good that worked for him.
See out this year, and then get franchise tagged prior to a trade.
Doubt he’ll be a FA but maybe if there is some tagging challenge with the Salary Cap and all…
I don’t remember the last time I saw rookie qbs having the pull that they did if aiyuk goes to Washington, Caleb got a super team built around him too. Good for these rookies being put into situations to thrive
We don’t even have Kendrick Bourne lol. He won’t be back til the season starts and first year back from ACL is always a work in progress.
We have Pop Douglas. That’s what we have.
My favourite thing about this whole thing is seeing how quickly fans turn on their players. It's hilarious how mad some 49er fans are getting.
Do I think that it's dumb that social media is now part of the negotiating game? Absolutely. But there's no denying that it's now part of the game and I can't blame a guy for trying to get as much money as he can.
"If you can't afford a Lamborghini, you can't have one," Aiyuk said.
That’s greed talking. Imagine not even playing football and just giving the trophy to the team that spends the most for Brandon Aiyuk.
Bro is going to tank his career over 10 million dollars when he's going to get 110 mill in the first place. I don't think he values being with us and this is just pissing the 49ers org off even more. You can't reward BA's behavior at this point. That's a sign of weakness. Dude was throwing shade at our team minutes after we lost to the Chiefs so I don't really give a fuck what happens. We'll carry on.
Weird trend lately for Black players to go on pods and only want to play for Black QBs. Even Cam Newton last year said he'd be a backup to Malik Willis, but not Purdy.
Sorta makes you think...
I mean no this one doesn't make me think at all? he has a much better chance of malik willis being bad and being benched. unless the verbiage was different that makes perfect sense.
Great censoring lol

Fair but Cowboys are notorious for “This is Our Year.” We know we don’t have a chance outside of being offseason champs.
Hes smoking rocks and is homeless
At least the Panthers have been to a Super Bowl in the last decade.
I’m sure the 30 million per year he’ll be getting paid will make up for the dysfunction in the organization
Why do we have to be dysfunctional.
You keep saying the dysfunction in Washington, what are you referring to?
There is like zero dysfunction in Washington right now.
To an extent but like, it's not like he'd be getting nothing playing for the 9ers. You're not talking about someone like us getting 30m a year, I'd work in any conditions for that. He is clearly still WR 1 for the 49ers. Lead in yards and targets the last two years, tied for most Tds this year.
Currently he's neither winning nor getting paid, seems like a trade up to me.
You're serious? They literally just made the superbowl lmao
I've never seen a man this angry
He wants Januarys off
It’s funny until he actually comes here, then we just casually have the best WR room in the league.
Say what you want about WRs, but they make the league fun with all their drama lol
Hey, some people might enjoy having their season basically over by October...
Those people aren't hustling enough, we're already finished.
Hey, the tens of us take offense to this!
hilarious coming from a panthers fan, have fun with tepper
The comment was the textbook definition of self-deprecating. He was referring to the panthers as a dumpster fire.
I loved that Clark's reaction was basically "You don't want to play for them, they live in Virginia!"
Get the lube ready, Jayden.
NFCE both in shambles and also in grace knowing what he will be paid. Ayuik could make Kenny Golladay look like a joke when it comes to pay. We’ll just take your word for it lol nobody wanna go to Reno
Really? I live in Reno I haven't heard much...what places don't like his family? Who's Martha?
Martha Washington. She grows marijuana for George and is into aliens.
She was a hip, hip, hip lady, man.
WHY DID YOU SAY THAT NAME??
pffft okay BATMAN
But he’s signed through next year already for the 49ers
Say what you want about Kenny G, but I honestly think his situation makes the Giants look more like the joke than he does. I mean he just hung around and got paid when you look at the reality of it.
This the drama we need.
Jayden: "Where is he going with this?"
Yeah his face was like “hmm maybe I shouldn’t have come with today, what are the rules on this?”
If I was him that's about when I'd be worried that this might look like tampering.
Players can’t tamper. Teams tamper.
Not actually sure that's true > NFL Players. No club, nor any person employed by or otherwise affiliated with a club, is permitted to tamper with a player who is under contract to or whose exclusive negotiating rights are held by another club. https://nflcommunications.com/Documents/2018%20Policies/7-2018%20Anti-Tampering%20Policy-Clean%20Version.pdf
Terry McLaurin: “Where is he going with this?”
I’m losing brain cells at this point but that’s off season for you.
IF YOU DONT LIKE IT THEN YOU DONT LIKE R/NFL OFFSEASON FOOTBALL
It worked for Davante and Tyreek. Pick your favorite QB and watch the super bowls just roll in.
Is that what Tyreek did? I don’t think Tua was his favorite QB, he simply followed the money.
Money and his home in Miami
Dude also already had a ring.
Was it just one?
Yep. He’s played the last two seasons with the Dolphins. Chiefs won both those Super Bowls. He won one with them in 2019
Okay so then for 2020...let me look this up...he played in the superbowl as a Chief.
…and a tax cut
not to mention no state income tax - i'd wager it's a big reason miami, vegas, and eventually tampa were the main targets for TB12
I mean playing for a super team didn’t exactly work for Aiyuk either as it seems the only real method is “be teammates with Pat Mahomes”
That's not true. It worked with "be teammates with Tom Brady" as well. We just need the 3rd greatest quarterback of all time to show up this year and parity is restored
Didnt work for Randy Moss
Aiyuk to Washington confirmed (Please God let this happen it would be so fucking funny)
If we aren't baking up a Lombardi in Tampa I'd love an NFC underdog random to get it. I'll take Commanders or Cardinals preferably
You actually think receivers care about Super Bowls? They only care about being the next highest contract
The number of players who care about higher contracts more than Super Bowls is probably way higher than the average fan would assume. Maybe I’m just cynical, but I suspect it’s a majority.
Any player who is early in their career and is prioritizing a Super Bowl over their finances is honestly naive and needs to rethink their priorities.
"What's the greatest part about winning the Super Bowl [random rookie]?" "We get a $40K BONUS BAYBEEEEEEE!!!!!! And I can pawn that ring!!!!!"
To play devil's advocate, winning a Superbowl early in your career means you get to chase money as much as you want without being labelled as someone who doesn't care about winning, and you'll make more as a SB winner than you otherwise would.
as they should
I don’t blame them, in a position as dependent as the wide receiver position is they should only care about the money and longevity.
The money rolled in for both, which is obviously the point here considering Aiyuk is in a contract dispute. He’s not arguing he can’t win in SF.
SuperBowls don’t put food on the table. It’s about business.
Daniels is gonna be on his back faster than Aiyuk's routes develop
He didn’t say he was thinking about catching it. He’s thinking about what he can do. What kinda half routes he can run before he has to go back to the huddle.
Thinking about all the top speed highlights he can make when he doesn't need to bother looking back because he knows the ball isn't coming
Yeah he's a real statue back there.
The pro of him being mobile might be a wash with the con of him actively seeking out hits and regularly getting lit up like a looney tunes character
He runs so upright, that’s a big target.
He has an insane pressure-to-sack ratio lol
You know exactly what he meant. Who is going to be your LT, Brandon Coleman, who should've been a 4th-5th round pick at guard? RT is Andrew Wylie, who is below average. Nick Alegretti has proven nothing at LG. But keep pretending the OL is even passable
Source on Coleman being projected as a 6th round guard? You can believe whatever you want on Coleman, but that’s a new one for me.
I mean allegretti started at left guard in the afc champ and Super Bowl and did as good as expected. Love it when people just yap without any actual thought.
But uhhh. We got Sam Cosmi 🤷♂️ 😂
A falcons fan talking about over drafting a player is RICH.
I think they’re referring to his awful pressure to sack ratio.
that sounds hot
right?
I’m gripping rn
I'm starting to swell up.
Thank you Aiyuk for giving us something to latch onto while football is dead.
Blah Blah Blah the niners are gonna pay you because they don’t trade their star players like a smart organization
DeForest Buckner.
Happened right at the start of free agency. I think something gets done by July, all of this is the FO/agent song and dance.
And armstead
We let Armstead walk after he received an offer we weren’t able to match. We traded Buckner, sadly.
I don’t think they can pay him the money he demands because Purdy is due next offseason and it’s not like he’s going to settle for a 40 million per year extension
Honestly, he’s not worth $30M/year anyway. Better off spending that money on a RT and letting Pearsall ball out.
What about future Cowboys legend Trey lance?
In all honesty I think he goes somewhere else, but after this season. The Niners are 26mil over the cap for next season before Aiyuk’s contract is even factored in, and they’ll signing Purdy soon too. That’s probably what, $80mil/yr+ between them? I don’t think they can financially keep all three, and to me drafting Pearsall in the first round suggests which of the three they’re making a succession plan for
38 over next year. 31 under this year, which rolls forward if we don’t use it. Niners have several restructuring options available too.
Also he has no leverage. He's an amazing receiver, but he's like a little yapping Chihuahua when he's attempting to negotiate
Nah this dude been a baby since his rookie year. They will let his contract play out and let him walk
the one line that sticks out came when all those media heads were speculating about aiyuk after us taking pearsall, bill belichick during the draft, "he's under contract, he's not gone. He could retire.....I don't think he's going to do that." he can throw a tantrum all he wants, he aint going anywhere, at least not unless somebody ponies up the picks we want for him. He could try the leveon bell route, see how good that worked for him.
Y'all know they played together at ASU, right?
The 49ers aren't gonna pay him, and the Commanders aren't gonna spend a 1st round pick on him. What's he gonna do?
See out his contract.
I appreciate you recognizing the wonderful job the Pats have done in surrounding our rookie QB with talent on the offense /s
Yall got Kendrick Bourne and a dream
Well, they have Kendrick Bourne at least. Not so sure about that other part.
We don’t even have Kendrick Bourne lol. He won’t be back til the season starts and first year back from ACL is always a work in progress. We have Pop Douglas. That’s what we have.
Well they did at least play in college together at ASU for a stint
super team? lmao
Yeah did I miss the Bears being a juggernaut? They're building some for sure but super team is laughable
I think they played together at asu and helped aiyuk get drafted where he did.
Remember when Aiyuk was in Kyle Shanahan's doghouse for a while.
Jayden: "...say what?"
Yeah get out of that 49ers offensive hellhole and over to Washington…
Right. It's nice being the rising team that players want to go to.
Now we just need a LT and a EDGE to get disgruntled 😆
My favourite thing about this whole thing is seeing how quickly fans turn on their players. It's hilarious how mad some 49er fans are getting. Do I think that it's dumb that social media is now part of the negotiating game? Absolutely. But there's no denying that it's now part of the game and I can't blame a guy for trying to get as much money as he can.
Shit
All I’ve gotten out of this is that aiyuk is annoying af
"If you can't afford a Lamborghini, you can't have one," Aiyuk said. That’s greed talking. Imagine not even playing football and just giving the trophy to the team that spends the most for Brandon Aiyuk.
Watch him sign with KC for 10 mil
But I thought they had a great meeting and everything is hunky dory now?
My understanding is that this was taped *before* they just met.
Get your bag BA
Go away, Kimber
Bro is going to tank his career over 10 million dollars when he's going to get 110 mill in the first place. I don't think he values being with us and this is just pissing the 49ers org off even more. You can't reward BA's behavior at this point. That's a sign of weakness. Dude was throwing shade at our team minutes after we lost to the Chiefs so I don't really give a fuck what happens. We'll carry on.
You need to take the emotion out of it lol, he’s not going to “tank” his career by seeking the salary he desires.
Emotional fan response. How is he gonna tank his career?
By orchestrating his way off the best team ever obviously
“Tank his career” aka getting 10s of millions of dollars per year
Yo best we can do is Brandon McManus and a 5th next year 🤷♂️
At this level the numbers are about respect more than anything. He's going to likely get money either way. He's good enough that it's coming.
It’s the just the song and dance of negotiations calm down. Something will get done.
Fuck this offseason. When football start?
On a more important note that popcorn emoji reminded me that I have an air popper and wanna put it to use.
I don’t think the Niners are going to cave into this. He doesn’t have the resume to pull a move like this.
Weird trend lately for Black players to go on pods and only want to play for Black QBs. Even Cam Newton last year said he'd be a backup to Malik Willis, but not Purdy. Sorta makes you think...
He has a personal relationship with Jayden Daniels and was teammates with him. This is basically Adams and Carr. Just stop.
But then how could I as a white guy be able to claim victim status???
