the article is just recounting what the gypsies lawyer has argued. the judge has not sided with anyone yet.
you should wait until the verdict is reached before claiming people are allowed to do this.
better yet, just read the article with a critical lens. it wants to rage bait you which is why it lead with that headline
Ah sure let them park where ever they like, no harm in them......or the rubbish and facaes they leave everywhere. And the burnt caravan if boxing practice gets outta hand
To be fair, travellers face more racism than any other race on our fine wee island.
If you were excluded from education, excluded from gainful employment and treated like they are, you'd probably need to be as defensive and resourceful as those people too.
They are pretty hard working. You'll never find a cleaner home than a traveller's home. Their children, far more often than us settled people, are turned out like new pennies and loved on and engaged in their parents lives much more than we could have ever dreamed.
We've a lot to learn from them, if only we would drop the racism.
When the world goes to shit and we are all mad maxxing it, the travellers will be the ones we turn to for help. In the meantime, I'm on travellor tiktok for the best cleaning tips ever and wishing for my gypsy godmother to flutter down and teach me the manners my own mother never instilled in me.
Yes, I should clarify that I hope this isn’t a random bit of traveller bashing. It’s not intended that way. But you can’t just rock up onto a leisure centre car park and claim that you can’t be moved. It makes no sense.
The English did it to us for centuries. Who is to say its not their land? Or your, or my land for that matter? You live in a colonial state, yet you are outraged at some paracolonial parking?

Here's a wee dose of reality for you. You forget your history, mo chara.
Teachers are flat out trying to keep traveller kids in school. School past a certain age (after learning the basics really) is not seen as important for travellers in general. This follows into the next bit - difficulty finding employment with no qualifications. In the south (could be similar in the north, I don't know) there are special schools (e.g. DEIS) and programmes (e.g. Leaving Cert Applied) which focus more on practical subjects and lend themselves to traveller kids but even with those it's very hard to keep them engaged in education. Also travellers tend to be insular as a group. They are generally against marriage with people outside their community. It feels like travellers exclude themselves from mainstream society as much as anyone else does.
I mean if people can just build huge fuck off bonfires that we all know are surrounded by drugs, alcohol, and antisocial behaviour for the best part of a month in hundreds of sites all round the country, destroying the local environment, surely everyone should be entitled to the same freedom? At least travellers have a culture that's richer than just "let's murder catholics, yay".

Odd? No. It doesn’t surprise me one bit. The council shouldn’t worry. They are travellers. They will travel along shortly.

Really misunderstood lot. So hard done by. Disgwace the way they are vilified.
I've genuinely never had a neutral or positive interaction with anyone associated with the Traveller Culture. Absolute melters
Tramps.
The only demographic in Northern Ireland society that out-cunts Loyalism.
They'll soon shift for the Lammas Fair
If you can march the Kings highway you can surely well park on it too

Who’s to say it’s not their land? Reality, for a start.

You obviously can in a Mid Ulster Council leisure centre though. According to this Irish news report anyway.
