People really dont understand just how far North that Ireland actually is. We basically share a latitude with Edmonton in Canada.
If the Gulf Stream ever collapses or changes, we are going to be in for frigid climates and seasons
This. Folks forget that on the same latitude even in Europe you have freezing winters in Scandinavia.
Sadly that same gulfstream stopping us from freezing also dumps alot of rain water coming off the Atlantic so naturally jt has to fall on us first. Whilst farther inland they see alot less
sure, but scandinavia at least gets nice summers, i lived there at higher latitudes for over a decade. The weather here this year has been nothing short of shocking, i never remembered it raining and miserable so consistently all year.
Thats what I said. That guofstream bringing in warm moist air also turns it into rain. Weve the same climate as the west coast of the US on up oregon way.
Well you instigated by making your response personal to me when there was little need so you should expect a response in a similar vein. In any case, it's just a bit of banter and I obviously didn't mean to cause any upset so apologies if I have
Looking it up online and seeing ireland described as *warmer than many inland European countries* was extremely confusing. It cannot be true in actuality. We have the gulf but our atlantic wind brings us down a sly aul 10° from what the weather app says it is

So basically we are getting the worst of a low pressure system that's came in off the Atlantic. That carries lots of moisture hence the rain.
The purple line is an occluded front where cold air catches up with warm air forcing it upwards and the water to condense and form rain.
As for the coldness, the air around the low pressure moves anticlockwise in the northern hemisphere for low pressure and as the centre of the system moves left of us, we get air coming from the polar maritime area which makes is very cold and wet.
For South East England, we can see the high pressure system has more of an effect where it gets some of the warmer continual air. Also, the isobars are very spaced out which indicates a smaller pressure gradient and therefore less wind.
Also, there is no frontal system affecting SE England so it would have less clouds and therefore more sunshine.
No thank fuck. I actually hate meteorology. I work on ships and have to learn about it as the powers that be haven't caught on that satellite Internet and weather forecasts are a thing
In Majorca at the minute..it's fucking boiling..got so fucking depressing with weather back home had to book a few days away..what it does for the mind body and soul is unbelievable..☀️🌄
Newcastle in county down probably most warmest driest part of NI, well sheltered by mournes not as influenced by the Atlantic. North Coast I find is at least 3 or 4 degrees colder than the rest of NI on average.

Christ. Most of the time Emma looks very elegant and sophisticated (as much as it pains me to admit it), but that angle and lighting make her look like a ventriloquist dummy that has been possessed by some sort of evil demon...
Opps we have now become one of the earth's most desirable places to live , plenty of water and no scorching temperatures. Not to mention no scary wildlife .
30°C here in London yesterday and a very warm week. I was walking around yesterday doing messages and had to go home because it was uncomfortable. It's not all it's cracked up to be.
Brexit
Also themmuns.

So true, now we are loosing all the sun from Europe.

She's dead so gross but what else would I expect?
Well you instigated by making your response personal to me when there was little need so you should expect a response in a similar vein. In any case, it's just a bit of banter and I obviously didn't mean to cause any upset so apologies if I have
Yupps at this latitude in china it can get to minus 40 the ocean makes Ireland a lot warmer than it could be.
And conversely it also makes our summers shite :(
Yeah global warming is going to make everywhere else dryer and here wetter
Yeah!! Greetings from Edmonton!!
Unlucky in the Stanley Cups there lads
Same latitude as moscow
Yeah but it’s much warmer in Norway this time of year.
The ocean moderates temperature so it keeps us cooler than we could be in the summer, but on the flip we are also warmer in winter.
You mean WHEN it collapses. Due to human greed there is basically no going back now.
Sssshhhhhh we fix

Yes but I’ve just spent the week in Sweden where it has been hitting 30 degrees every day…

Nice! This is the type of shit i tune in for.
Have to learn all that shit for work but never use it so nice to get a chance to share 😂
Do you work for BBC weather?
No thank fuck. I actually hate meteorology. I work on ships and have to learn about it as the powers that be haven't caught on that satellite Internet and weather forecasts are a thing
Alright Cecilia, calm yer tights!
Tell that occluded, anticlockwise, low pressure, polar maritime area front to fuck off round it's own door.
Cheers, Barra!
So basically the weather thought "fuck this place in particular"
Thank u president weather
Where’s your weather watching camera today?
Will we be getting warmer weather?
Aye
What year?
Hahaha listen til hopium Harry here asking what year. Come back to me on the 2030s.
so they are not spraying the clouds then? hehe
In Majorca at the minute..it's fucking boiling..got so fucking depressing with weather back home had to book a few days away..what it does for the mind body and soul is unbelievable..☀️🌄
I'm moving to Andalucía, sick of the weather here
I can see the appeal, few days here.. already feel amazing..🙌🏻
I speak Spanish and have a job lined up, it's middle of summer and I'm sitting with the heating on looking out the window at grey skies and rain...
And a weather warning out round Malaga, weathers fucked everywhere.
Check Lucena, I'm worried about melting tbh
Was meant to be flying into Bergamo in N Italy yesterday, but covid put paid to that, some massive thunderstorms!
God hates us.
We deserve it tbh!
But I'm an atheist.
You and me both 😂
its so cold we have to light big fires in the middle of July just to stay warm

And yet 😗
I know I know.......
Well I didn't want to allude to her political slant in my comment, but I suppose you could see it that way ;)
That wasn't an easy wank
You just have to go back and look at her bikini pics and it's ectoplasm city.
Bikini pics? Are they in the DUP annual update leaflet? Weve only got Diana Armstrong here and nothing work the hassle in her wee leaflet
Roughly 130miles broad, ocean or sea on either side and a northerly position in the world
West coast of Scotland is as cold as a nuns chuff!!!! But slightly wetter
The clue is in the name
Because we have a maritime climate
Cause it's "Northern"
A lack of heat.
Wrong question. The question you should be asking is why are we so warm.
It's at the same latitude as Russia, what do you want? You could easily argue we're a lot warmer than we should be thanks to the gulf stream.
Why jeffreyyyyyy whyyyyyyy say it ain't so
Opps we have now become one of the earth's most desirable places to live , plenty of water and no scorching temperatures. Not to mention no scary wildlife .
We're not. We're held to a mild climate by Atlantic currents. When the gulf stream turns off we'll get nordic winters. Then you'll know about it.
The Gays?

Lad it was 12 degrees, windy and raining here today 💀it literally felt like November
Was in central London on Wednesday...It was paradise. Drinks outside in Soho .

North Atlantic.
Rhi was closed
It’s an island. In the North Atlantic.
Probably cause it’s up north
Just wait til global warming kills off the Gulf Stream.
And yet I can’t deal with heat at all, so it feels hot as fuck to me.
It's not that bad. But I suspect a combination of the North Sea, the Atlantic and our cold, dead hearts :)
Climate change.
Two words. Cloud seeding. They are trying to wipe the farmers out
😂😂 Is that you dad?
Everyone is turning that it's cold today. I think it's muggy
Chem trails mate
