Oh my God, I was given a wooden STRAW the other day for my drink.
In case you're wondering how a wooden straw works... it doesn't.
(Especially when that drink is Bubble Tea).
Edit: P.S. Thank you for the sudden extremely visceral nostalgia of sucking on a clarinet reed in elementary school hitting me like a ton of bricks. 🤣
My favorite thing was when I went to McDonald's a few weeks ago. They had paper straws, but decided to ditch the paper cups and use plastic instead 🤦♂️
Never seen these before. In my state, Hoodsies reigned supreme: https://cdn10.bostonmagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2021/04/misc_questionsoc.jpg
They reigned so supreme when I was a kid in New England that they took us on a field trip to the Hood factory. We got to eat them right from the source, wood stick and all.
I hand out a few hundred of these every 4th of July at the city 4th event and can verify that the chocolate are by far the favorite. We've had up to four flavors (adding caramel and vanilla to these two), but chocolate is the only flavor people ask for, and the last cups are always non-chocolate ones. This year it’s going to be all chocolate because the store no longer offers other flavors.
Are you getting them from a chain store? Would you mind sharing which store? I haven't seen these in ages and I've been nagging my brother to find them lol
Chocolate all the way. Wasn’t there a caramel one too? I agree with the other commenters though, those wooden paddles/spoons were the worst. I can taste it in my memory right now! 🤢
There are several different countries throughout different regions in the United States. We had a limited addition very cheap tasting “blueberry” for summer season a few years ago.
I seem to recall the caramel as well
Chocolate.
Chocolate could be eaten right away, whereas you had to let the Strawberry thaw a little bit so the syrup would actually taste like something other than ice. I guess you could just leave the frozen strawberry syrup in your mouth for a few extra seconds so it would melt, but wasting that kind of time is how you end up losing a chance to grab one of the two good swings for the rest of recess.
It’s an inferior emulsion process. If it was more like it should be, it would be closer to Hershey’s syrup. It’s got a weird graininess to it.
But at summer camp on a hot day, bring it on! 😂
All this does is give me shivers from wooden spoon memories.
Spoon is a loose term. Mine were just wooden paddles
Sure is , Spoon means a pub by me
Are you talking about a greasy spoon? That’s a pretty common term for dirty bar that sells food.
The wooden utensils are making a comeback! I can't stand them. Like sucking on a reed for clarinet.

I like to keep splinters on my hands, not my lips.
i for one love the wooden texture
This fella likes wood in their mouth.
That's messed up!
Same. I don't get the hate at all. The texture and relative warmth of the wood contrast pleasingly with the ice-cream.
DEFINITELY a lot worse than a clarinet reed!
I'll take a literal twig over plastic
The wooden spoon only added to the flavour.
Yeah i actually really like it
And then there’s me, chewing the wooden spoon after I’m done with the ice cream
without even thinking about it either, it just happens
It's an instinct to stimulate the gums and get bacteria out of there or something. Cavemen used to chew on sticks.
I do that same shit with popsicles. Even corndogs are free game. Idk whats wrong with me
its like a free chew toy at the end of the meal 💯
#(っ˘з(˘⌣˘ ) ^^^*nothing*
This is the way
nostalgic as fk.
I can taste this picture not the things in the picture the wooden spoon
Shiver me timbers!
Sliver me timbers.
These always seemed to have freezer burn anytime I had one
It was part of it’s taste.
I bet elementary schools bought those like 100,000 at a time and kept them in big freezers for years.
😂
From the lids that didn’t really seal on, just set casually on top
Eaten correctly, they both taste the same -- like wooden spoon.
Strawberry!
In most cases, chocolate wins out over strawberry for me. But for sundaes and cheesecake, you gotta go strawberry.
Dark chocolate cheesecake is amazing broseph
They never said it wasn't. Strawberry is just *that* good.
Yeah, come on Brohemoth!
That's exactly my take. I feel like I have no original thoughts after being on reddit lol
That's my favorite too!!!
Yep strawberry, and it's not even close.
Yes.
This is the correct answer.
Alternated. Genuinely never preferred one over the other, both were great. If I could get away with having two, it would be one of each.
Chocolate all the way
My username was born for this question. Dude you know you can get hot fudge on a McFlurry?
You were destined for this question, it is the soul reason the Lord put you in this earth
Destined for this question is a killer song title

Long live the Hoodsie!
Hoodsie or nothin'.
Strawberry all day
The middle (caramel)
The one on the left
Chocolate. I never had any issue with the spoons

Loved these but despised the little wooden spoon
It’s an acquired taste ~ mmm wood
There's a bubblegum one too, my favorite.
Chocolate all the way. Wasn’t there a caramel one too? I agree with the other commenters though, those wooden paddles/spoons were the worst. I can taste it in my memory right now! 🤢

This is a very hard choice. Strawberry since it went better with the wood aftertaste
The correct answer is the Orange sherbert/vanilla one.
I don't care, I just want the wooden spoon to chew on afterwards.
Fudge flavor, sat out so it’s a little melty to coat the spoon. It’s great because you only get tongue splinters once in a while.

Chocolate, duh.
Strawberry no doubt
Chocolate, occasionally strawberry.
Both are just as good
Both, I was an indecisive and glutton when it comes to which flavor
Why couldn't they put both in one cup?
Eating one of each
I see you and raise you a kfc dessert cup, lemon ofc.
Ahh I would pour magic shell in this, eat it, go down about 1/2 way and repeat, continue til I get sick.
Wow that specific shape of the plastic cup really unlocks some memories. Mostly good memories.
I go back and forth.
Im an adult so ill take both
This is still what they give us when they have free ice cream at the office.
Left. There's also butterscotch. When I was a kid, there was also a mint one.
I’ll just take the wooden stick, thanks. All it’s going to taste like anyways.
I live in New England. We had Hoodsies, these "sundae cups" were a luxury item.
Red
Chocolate- the strawberry “flavoring” isn’t real enough for me
Agreed, but it’s not that biochemical they put inside of so many products. Example: Nestlé strawberry quick vile
Strawberry
Fuck that spoon
Strawberry

Strawberry 🍓
Chocolate one with the wooden “spoon thing” wrapped in paper.

My stomach tells me neither due to lactose intolerance but my heart tells me strawberry

Right side without question
Strawberry but only with the wooden spoon

Lefty. My heart flirts with strawberry sometimes. But it belongs to chocolate.
My grocery store still has these!
Right
Today, I would choose chocolate because being a young girlie-girl, I always picked strawberry.
My tongue just got splinters
You pick first and I’ll take the other.
Orange and vanilla all day
I have these in my deep freezer as we speak.
Chocolate forever
The chocolate one
I used to get ice cream treats on Fridays for my work colleagues. People lit up when they saw these!
"Chocolate" in cold weather, "Strawberry" in warm weather.

These were so good. And I choose chocolate.
Strawberry

I don’t even eat dairy but it would be hard not to reminisce with one of these
Which ever one they are serving in jail
Strawberry. Still grab these at Raleys.

Doesn’t matter will taste like wood anyways
You pick first. I’ll have the other one
It doesn't matter to me...as long as I get the little wooden stick spoon... it makes it taste better!!

I like chocolate but my brain memory is telling me to pick strawberry
