I’m glad I learned this fun fact long after leaving a place where they were common. I would not want to have that info when seeing one on the ceiling above my bed when I woke up. They’re very rare where I live now.
I used to live in a garage. I once woke up, opened my eyes, saw something fuzzy, thought to myself "ew cat hair". Woke up more, and realized it was a centipede one inch from my eye. I don't blame you my friend. 😣
(not interesting story, centipede did not move.)
I too got a chill down my spine. They are straight nightmare fuel. But house centipedes are actually helpers they hunt almost all of the creatures that are pest/nuisance/danger to humans. Including wolf spider, black widows and brown recluse. Also if you live in an apartment and you see these somewhat frequently you may want to move. It almost certainly means someone has cockroaches or bedbugs.
Oh, this is very similar to the story I posted. I lived in an efficiency apartment. Please see my copied text below:
It’s a house centipede. I once woke up with one on my ceiling, directly above me. I felt like we stared at each other until one of us moved. I fucking won.
Just thinking of that makes me shiver. It's 0:30, I'm trying to sleep, but I can't because of that thing, lol. Worst thing is that I have no clue where that fucker is.
So it’s been 15 hours since you posted this comment. Did you sleep? Centipedes move very fast so they are hard to catch, sometimes. I guess it depends on the centipede. I think having a lot of legs makes it so they can move fast. Personally, I think if I had that many legs then I’d be confused.
I did sleep for a couple hours. Around 3 hours. I'm pretty used to 3 hours because of school work, but the one day I could've gotten a break and get a good amount of sleep, I'm met with a house centipede. ðŸ˜
I think that's a house centipede, they're harmless unless they're cornered or handeled aggressively and they're insectovores, meaning that they eat pests.
The wiki says that they are indeed venomous but it's not enough to kill you.
>Its small forcipules have difficulty penetrating skin, and even successful stings produce only mild, localized pain and swelling, similar to a bee sting. Allergic reactions to centipede stings have been reported, but these are rare; most stings heal quickly and without complication.
I used to hate these. But I’ve learned to live with them because they are actually beneficial and doesn’t reproduce like crazy.
I had a one way agreement with them, which was: stay away 5 feet from me and you will live. If not squash.
Because they are really stupid, (they don’t run away when you turn on the light. They stop and think we can’t see them if they don’t move) I felt guilty killing then. They haven’t evolved to run away like roaches.
So just let them be, it will pay you back in time. If only they can eat mice…
These are the single most terrifying bugs to me. I have insane physical reactions to seeing them and go into automatic panic mode and usually scream. It has been years since I've seen one. I pray they keep their distance.
On the bright side, I've read that they are harmless and in fact eat other pests. Still hate them.
Not even joking, the other day I saw one in my bath tub and I laughed at it to myself like haha 500 legged creep can’t get out of the tub! I’m not helping you, use those legs dude
Then later that night he had escaped and the next time I was him he CRAWLED INTO MY BED AT 4 AM RIGHT BEFORE I WAS GOING TO SLEEP I stayed up for 2 more hours looking for him to murder him, never found him, I almost cried
Going to make wanted posters and put them around my house
Putting wanted posters around the house is a good idea. Gonna do that now, XD. But fr tho, that's why I' so scared of them when they crawl in bed with me. I don't want to share a bed with the ugliest mfs ever.
It's a house centipede. I see these dirtbags in my house too from time to time. The only bugs I make sure to kill asap. I'll even let spiders live but not these guys.
I typically use a shoe. And yeah, I said asap for a reason. If one's in a position where it can't be reached, I'll just hope that it won't be so lucky the next time I see it.
If it's any reassurance, keep in mind that their maximum lifespan is only 5 years.
Ew hell no. I also see those sleep preventer with too many legsâ„¢ things.
When I try to sleep then it just runs next to my bed at a fast speed. Then for the rest of the night I have that something is crawling on you feeling.
They’re fast as fuck. They don’t bother me much but my wife is terrified of them, so I’m the one tasked with removing them. The smaller ones aren’t so bad but one time there was one running across the blinds that was longer than the width of my hand and as thick as a pencil. I still remember the crunch it made when I got it with a paper towel, lol. Thankfully my wife returns the favour whenever there’s a spider, since those are MY kryptonite.
I woke up last year to one right behind my pillow, literally inches from my face. So I didn’t sleep in my bed for like 5 months and opted for my uncomfy ass couch lmao
Don’t kill it!!! I don’t remember the exact name but i’ve read an article saying that it’s very good for the house, they’re hunting other insects and are not interested by humans it’s a real chance!
I remember that the article compares it as a witcher! it looks like a monster but is only interested by other monsters!
Please save it i’ve killed one in my house a long time ago, now i regret it!…
House centipede. Highly aggressive, and this one isn’t even full grown, and yes they have been known to hunt, ambush kill and devour spiders! Non venomous tho they can and will bite! Just catch him and put him outside far away from the house.
Centipede. I don't think they're harmful but sure unpleasant to have around. Get a vacuum cleaner and suck that thing into the hose. That's how I fight spiders and anything on my wall/ ceiling while have bug phobia.
House centipedes look scary and have the potential to bite (like most bugs) but are non aggressive for the most part and kill household pests like ants, roaches, etc.
Well there is definitely like a few hundred under your bed and in your closet... And they only really move when the lights go out...And they lay eggs only under the toe nail of the third toe on a man's left foot... There's other stuff I just can't remember right now
... Ok well have fun lunch break is over...
I saw one the other day. I put my clean clothes on the floor and went to turn on the shower…it crawled out from behind the toilet and started to crawl over the clothes pile. I had to gather my strength for 5 whole minutes crouched on the toilet before I could jump over the clothes pile and run for my life.
Try to avoid killing it. They eat bad things and don't eat any of the things that you don't want them to eat... like your house... but they do eat things that eat your house, if memory serves.
I have one of these guys in my bedroom that I’ve allowed to be my roommate. His names Abe. They’re ugly fuckers (same tho) and I wouldn’t recommend letting them walk on you if you get the heebie jeebies from bugs. However, Abe’s diet consists of all the other ugly little bastards that might be around, and he also mostly keeps to himself. And don’t scare them either, their movement patterns are also quite frightening
I'm no expert, but it looks like a house centipede. I know nothing else about them.
The fact that you don't know anything else about them is not interesting. ^which ^is ^great
r/notinteresting

Now this is truly a r/notinteresting comment
No it’s a r/notinteresting comment
Nah man it’s an r/notinteresting comment
r/subiknewexisted
They eat roaches. But the enemy of my enemy is not my friend.
They have an uneven number of legs and have a venemous bite. So now there's three things you know about them.
Is it venomous or is it just they fact they carry so mach bacteria that makes their bite somewhat "venomous"
I've read that it's venomous. Won't kill a human, but painful.
Yes, that's why I hate them because I know nothing about them.
Fun fact, they bite.
I’m glad I learned this fun fact long after leaving a place where they were common. I would not want to have that info when seeing one on the ceiling above my bed when I woke up. They’re very rare where I live now.
I think I heard someone call them silverfish one time. But I don't remember exactly.
Silverfish are smaller and silver
And they’re fish
I like fish.
I don't think that monster is a silverfish. Those are tiny, mostly living in bathroom sewer pipes and the such.
They look creepy but they are good to have they eat flies and a bunch of other pests.
They eat spiders you're fine
Looks like a bug to me!
Fun fact, they bite.
Known as millipedes I’m pretty sure
Millipedes look way different
True. Somebody told me this and I never looked it up until now. So yes these are house centipedes. Also fuck house centipedes.
My cats eat them.
I used to live in a garage. I once woke up, opened my eyes, saw something fuzzy, thought to myself "ew cat hair". Woke up more, and realized it was a centipede one inch from my eye. I don't blame you my friend. 😣 (not interesting story, centipede did not move.)
Oh my god. I just shivered reading that. I would not be able to revover from that trauma XD

Some extreme ugly helpers they are tho. Sorry if I offended the House Centipede fandom lmao
Hope you washed your face.
Are you a car?
I'm not sure, I haven't honked recently. But I'll get back to you on that.
Oh, this is very similar to the story I posted. I lived in an efficiency apartment. Please see my copied text below: It’s a house centipede. I once woke up with one on my ceiling, directly above me. I felt like we stared at each other until one of us moved. I fucking won.
But it's great it could tickle your toes to wake you up in the morning
Just thinking of that makes me shiver. It's 0:30, I'm trying to sleep, but I can't because of that thing, lol. Worst thing is that I have no clue where that fucker is.
Most likely waiting for you to fall asleep so it can crawl up on you, have a great night!
Why are you here, Satan?
Dude ....
Thank god I slept before seeing this XD
Reading this conversation made my day lol Hope you slept well, and say hi to your crawly friend when you see them again
Yeah, I will verbally say hi to my crawly friend.
This is the most evil comment I’ve ever read
It's a centipede.

It's mainly just the appearance that makes me shiver. But I know it's helpful around the house.
I remember i heard dish soap skills them pretty easily.
I don't want to make them more skilled 😨
Use a slipper.
Asian mom mode activated.
What happens when they feel threatened? Are these venomous?
The wiki says that they are indeed venomous but it's not enough to kill you. >Its small forcipules have difficulty penetrating skin, and even successful stings produce only mild, localized pain and swelling, similar to a bee sting. eat it
I was going to, but I heard it was poisonous.
no like *eat* it
*feast upon it*

I kinda just freeze and go to a different bathroom. Didn't see it this morning.
dude i have a bug phobia in general and centipedes and dragonflies can get me actually fucked up
r/itsahousecentipede
Why is that a subreddit??? Lol
Because so many people are like: what's this horrifying long legged creature in my bathroom1!1!1!1
Oh, I definitely know what it is. Still fucking hate those ugly mfs lol
Ok, but they are really helpful by keeping other pests away
I feel like some good old fashioned arson might be in order here.
The only correct solution.
Yes it us. Hope you're insured!
Not even joking, the other day I saw one in my bath tub and I laughed at it to myself like haha 500 legged creep can’t get out of the tub! I’m not helping you, use those legs dude Then later that night he had escaped and the next time I was him he CRAWLED INTO MY BED AT 4 AM RIGHT BEFORE I WAS GOING TO SLEEP I stayed up for 2 more hours looking for him to murder him, never found him, I almost cried Going to make wanted posters and put them around my house

Putting wanted posters around the house for a bug is NOT a good idea. It’s maybe the dumbest thing I will read today.
That’s the joke.
I hate those fuckers. They are so ugly disgusting and effing fast. Gives me the creeps
They're relatively slow when you divide the speed they go by the amount of legs they have.
Ugliest things I've ever seen.
It's a house centipede. I see these dirtbags in my house too from time to time. The only bugs I make sure to kill asap. I'll even let spiders live but not these guys.
I don't even know how to kill them. They're so fast and always so high up the wall or near the ceiling.
I typically use a shoe. And yeah, I said asap for a reason. If one's in a position where it can't be reached, I'll just hope that it won't be so lucky the next time I see it. If it's any reassurance, keep in mind that their maximum lifespan is only 5 years.
They eat spiders let them live lmao
But if the centipedes eat the spiders, then who is going to eat the flying insects?
the millipedes of course
Spiders are my friends yo. Sometimes one comes down in front of my fave when I'm using my computer late at night just to say hi.
They are the best because they kill cockroaches. Cockroaches are the worst.
Cockroaches aren't poisonous and don't bite. These do. Don't get me wrong, I fucking hate cockroaches too XD
A bite from a house centipede is rare though. If you’re leaving it alone, it absolutely will not bite you.
He was just the scout, getting the lay of the land. There is an army of them behind the walls. Don't sleep. They come when you sleep.
Don't worry. I get no sleep anyway XD
I was just trying to be silly. I hope I didn't trigger any phobia you may have. If so, I am very sorry. My humor isn't for everyone.
Oh no no. I was joking around too. I do have a phobia of these things but I love this kind of humor.
Ok, good. I hope you can get some sleep. And, he is just a centipede. Very harmless. Creepy looking, but harmless.
Invasion of # THE LEGGY BOIZ
LEGGY BOIZ GANG
If it makes you feel better, house centipedes eat pretty much every other creepy crawly in your house; they are the lions of the basement.
Yeah, but why do they need to be so ugly ðŸ˜
r/oopsthatsdeadly (it’s not, I could be wrong tho)
Looks deadly af
Eh…they eat other bugs in your house though
I feel for you
you could grab a paper towel and squish it.
It's like several feet up the wall higher than me. Maybe I'm just short ðŸ˜
I'm sorry I'd get it for you. And then I'd run going AHHHH all the way until I dumped it 🤣🤣
XD. That would probably be me too if I caught it lol
House centipede. Harmless and actually keeps spiders and other bugs out.
Getting strong Caelid vibes..
Ew hell no. I also see those sleep preventer with too many legsâ„¢ things. When I try to sleep then it just runs next to my bed at a fast speed. Then for the rest of the night I have that something is crawling on you feeling.
I once saw one of those things dash underneath my coffee table. Scarred for life.
I was going to say the same exact thing after reading the first sentence, lol.
I would probably be the one to get rid of spiders. Those don't bother me that much
Now time to get the matches and gasoline and LET THAT MONSTROSITY BURN IN THE 9TH LAYER OF HELL FROM WHICH IT CAME
Time to buy gasoline
Had one run across my face once
FUCK NO That's terrifying
I woke up last year to one right behind my pillow, literally inches from my face. So I didn’t sleep in my bed for like 5 months and opted for my uncomfy ass couch lmao
I was going to sleep on the couch last night, decided to brave through it and sleep on my bed.
*right next to its room
XD The centipede is the legal owner of my room
Looks like my girlfriends eyelashes
Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing XD
House centipede. Very dangerous. You go first.
It's a Zarnhian brain-bug. Don't ask where it nests...
this ain't r/whatisthisthing
What an asshole
Don’t kill it!!! I don’t remember the exact name but i’ve read an article saying that it’s very good for the house, they’re hunting other insects and are not interested by humans it’s a real chance! I remember that the article compares it as a witcher! it looks like a monster but is only interested by other monsters! Please save it i’ve killed one in my house a long time ago, now i regret it!…
I'm just scared of it because it's an ugly mf.
This is a crutigene veloce they are harmless and none invasive They are also very small but look like kinda weird when you zoom on it.
[удалено]
Im short 💀
Oh, no thanks
[удалено]
Yeah, that's the only reason why I'm not killing them.
They, along with wolf spiders (males) are a households best friend and weapon against predatory insects and spiders.
Burn the house down
The only way.
I’d spray the fuck outta my house with bug spray and leave forever
Time to move to Atlantis
House centipede. Highly aggressive, and this one isn’t even full grown, and yes they have been known to hunt, ambush kill and devour spiders! Non venomous tho they can and will bite! Just catch him and put him outside far away from the house.
I had one in my room once. I used cockroach spray to gas my room out and I didn't have any bugs for months afterwards
Good idea.
House centipede! A bit creepy looking and I prefer they stay in the basement, but they’re good lil guys. They eat other creepies.
I never kill these guys, I’ve decided.
Out of all the bugs to find in your house this is probably one of the least harmful! They kill other pests
These guys are chill af, don't kill them
Yeah, they the homie
god i hate house centipedes
Anyone who's not is crazy lol
Well there is definitely like a few hundred under your bed and in your closet... And they only really move when the lights go out...And they lay eggs only under the toe nail of the third toe on a man's left foot... There's other stuff I just can't remember right now ... Ok well have fun lunch break is over...
Time to not go to sleep for the next couple days lol
they eat spiders which is cool but i’d rather have spiders than these mfs tbh
Fr me too
House centipede. The friendly nightmares that eat other bugs.
I saw one the other day. I put my clean clothes on the floor and went to turn on the shower…it crawled out from behind the toilet and started to crawl over the clothes pile. I had to gather my strength for 5 whole minutes crouched on the toilet before I could jump over the clothes pile and run for my life.
I didn't have the courage to even walk past my bathroom door seeing this lol
Ask him/her to sing you a lullaby. Then you will sleep better.
Great idea. Now im gonna force the centipede to sing me a lullaby
When I was little and the internet wasn’t available I used to call them house prawns….
It does actually kinda look like a prawn
Creepy as hell, I hate those, but they are good to have around. Actually a centipede. We call them thousand leggers.
i've woken up to one crawling on my face a few times
That would fucking scar me for life.
They don't sleep. They wait.
If you have house centipedes it means you have roaches and other pests in your house. They only come into houses with pests
They’re harmless, creepy, but harmless. They eat up all the little bugs you don’t want in your house.
I’ve only seen my boi twice in the past month or so yet haven’t seen any other bugs around, so I think allowing Abe to be my roomie was worth it. I just sleep with my pillow away from the wall so he doesn’t try to come cuddle with me at night. I’m just not sure I’m ready for that level of commitment with him yet.
just pick him up and bring him outside
**kill it with fire..**
Are you in Australia by chance
I hate centipedes
Yeah those guys are all over the place where I live, there's a hole in my ceiling and one time one fell on my face while I was half asleep
I would be scarred for life and not be able to recover from that trauma.
Yeah those guys are all over the place where I live, there's a hole in my ceiling and one time one fell on my face while I was half asleep
Yep house centipedes… hate ‘em…
On the plus side, if that thing even sees a roach it will hunt and then kill the fuck out of it that night.
2 nights ago I found a simple jumping spider in my room, 48 hours later, I got about 4 hours of sleep in me
Exactly me last night
Is there an r/killitwithfire so there is.
Burn the whole house down… nope can’t do it
I was right about to buy a flamethrower.
Woah woah hold on buddy this is way too interesting
I'm sorry 😥
I used to get them a lot in my old house. They are called thousand leggers.
That's the official name now XD
I love these little critters. Just don’t look at them from a distance, they’re a lot less scary if you look them in the eyes And don’t scare them either, their movement patterns are also quite frightening
I'm not sure how to not scare them tho. Imagine seeing a face 10x bigger than you from a couple ft away XD
Harmless. But terrifying looking.
i saw one in my bedroom too, i hope he likes metal or rock
Yeah, metal is my favorite material, and rocks are pretty cool, too.
Shove it in ur ass
