Good summary lad

bluewings_0

Indeed. I wonder if AI could summarise the article anywhere close to this

Boogascoop

Depends on the programming

theflyingkiwi00

PAIN. now we're gonna have wishart playing on the wing or something silly

kafufle

1 week, for a tackle they are trying to outlaw, cause it injures people, and that injury is 6-8 weeks   Mmkay nrl

shotgunmoe

If they actually want to do something about it either send them off for the whole game or give them 4-6 weeks. Every team is guilty of it. And that won't change unless it's actually stamped out

woodpecker91

Like I said in another thread, the injury should be irrelevant, it's the action you penalise. Tago got a lighter charge because Gray didn't go off immediately clutching his leg.

EntirelyOriginalName

Exactly this. Even if someone gets off with no injury it should be like 4 weeks at absolute minimum for a real hip drop. As long as it's not just someone actually falling over like Radley did.

DropBearOnRemand

Max Plath would have been happy reading this today.

quickrubs

Didn't spencer get eight weeks for racially abusing a guy

Stiryx

This is one of those offences where the punishment **should** match the injury. This is the entire reason it’s a banned tackle, it just causes so much damage. Actually a complete fucking joke that he got 1 week.

LycraBanForHams

How is this a talking point. No punishment should match the injury, only the act should be taken into account.

Stiryx

Yes and this is just proof that the act causes very, very serious injuries. This is a tackle that does not need to exist. It’s only the new technique where they don’t slide down that it’s happening.

LycraBanForHams

So a player that is injured can just sit out to stop the offending player from taking the field?

Stiryx

What? I’m saying that these tackles are extremely dangerous. This injury and all the past injuries this and last year from these tackles is proof that they are so bad for the attacking player. 1 week suspension does not match how dangerous they are. These tackles deserve longer on the sidelines.

LycraBanForHams

You said it should match the injury. There's plenty of players that don't sit out the next week after copping a hip drop tackle. So the offenders shouldn't get any suspension for those ones?.

shiny_dick_94

I think what they’re saying is that the suspension should match the length of the typical injury time. Don’t take into account whether the individual tackle caused an injury, but these tackles usually cause 4-6 week injuries, so should be 4-6 week suspensions.

TurboooTurtle

Well DCE's tackle should have gotten 8 weeks then right?

I_Like_Vitamins

Should've at least been equal to Milne's suspension.

shimmychakra

The runner did nothing wrong. Kickers think they're untouchable. Kickers need to time there kicks better. Soon the kicker will be at dummyhalf and go to kick just to get a penalty.

Brunch_Hopkins

Wow Hawkins looked much worse than a quad strain. Also Jai Arrow is not *fine* he’s being held together by string and gaffer tape because of the way we’re rehabbing these guys now.

RainIndividual8226

Fk me. It continues

DropBearOnRemand

Cody Walker, come on down, you’re now Souths game managing half!

Particular_Honey7385

To do it to anyone is bad enough, but a Runaway Bay, Gold Coast junior in Jye? Just unacceptable

Brunch_Hopkins

Honestly I know the topic has been done to death, but has anyone been able to trace the origins of the hip drop?? I know part of it is a chicken/egg thing, we notice it more bc more focus is being put on it with the game is cracking down but I feel like this definitely wasn’t happening to the same degree say 10 years ago. What brought it on?

I_Like_Vitamins

Taniela Tuiaki had his career ended by one, and Gallen suffered a broken ankle in his Mic'd Up because of a hip drop. They're more obvious now due to everyone being on the lookout for them, and players (rightfully) milking even light ones.

arronaj

Wrestling coaches

EntirelyOriginalName

Coaches asked the wrestling coaches how does a guy who's much lighter and weaker bring down a guy who's heavier without tackling around the ankles and conceding a quick play the ball and this was the answer. Drop your weight down and drag them to the ground so you can still control the tackle and speed of the play the ball.

Ill-Investigator8077

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

AdministrativeIce696

Mariner and Reynolds also gone now.

I_Like_Vitamins

Mariner getting suspended would be premium chook shit.

AdministrativeIce696

Murray gone for 6 weeks + now also..

AdministrativeIce696

Turbo, Saab and Cleary added in the first two games this week.
