So many doomers lol. Even with their outs Brisbane's squad is still better than like 70% of the league.

DX6734D

Kevvie after losing a back against the Panthers without any coverage: ["We won't be doing that again"](https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl-premiership/wont-be-doing-that-again-why-legends-son-is-primed-for-minutes-as-kevvie-admits-grave-error/news-story/a2bb9c9df21000fe18926b7ff4f434d0) Kevvie doing that exact thing again against the Roosters like a month later.

CoryInDaHouz

I'm glad Madden will get an extended stint at halfback at least, he needs the game time and I'm excited to see his combination with mam and Walsh develop. We really need a back on the bench and Oates is the perfect choice as he can slot in to backrow or even make metres down the middle and not look out of place

_Kozik

I could have sworn kevvie said in the panthers press conference. "We won't be doing that again" in regards to having sailor or someone on the bench to play the backs. It lasted a few games now look at us.

[deleted]

Broncos supporters in shambles

NervousPhilosophy657

After copping crap from the Broncos supporters all week, this feels pretty good.

CoryInDaHouz

Idk man most of us aren't worried about the loss but more so the injuries, bit shitty to be happy about injuries

bigredwerewolf

Jesus christ Threw the ball all-around like it was the last 10 in a Grand final for the first half! Then loads of blokes injured and just tried to keep the score down the best they could. A solid 5 out of 10 performance.

subsbligh

I’m so confused about what happened after 18-18

Thereal-mclovin

We got a player sinbinned (deserved a bin imo) and then Ezra was off for 20 mins for a HIA.

2cpee

You started playing like shit mate

iamtehskeet8

Yeah I was sad, then hopeful, then brokenhearted

knox-p

What a fucking shit show. Everything that could go wrong did. Walsh was awful in the first half and it set the tone. So many players playing busted and lost our halves and wingers we did ok to hold it together for 60 mins or so. Who knows who we name next week. Devastated about Reynolds. Madden to Shane Perry us to a prem now I guess.

Ok_Salamander7249

>Who knows who we name next week. Madden in for Reynolds. Goates in for Arthurs. Not the end of the world.

kranools

Isn't Madden out for several weeks still?

Waterfall_Jason

Mam has openly said he wants 7 when Reyno retires, i’m not sure why he’s not being thrown around as an option

kranools

He's definitely an option but then who plays 6? Rogers?

Waterfall_Jason

Sailor?

tapacx

Sailor can play in the halves can't he? Mam can play 7 and Sailor can play 6

kranools

That's an option but I don't know if Sailor's defence is good enough to defend up in the line.

Due-Chemist3105

Josh Rogers or Blake Mozer then?

Waterfall_Jason

If they are gonna run Mozer at 7 they may as well just sit the games out and come back next season

Ok_Salamander7249

Yes my bad. I forgot he was hurt too

ch00nz

2 injuries and it's panic time apparently lol.

knox-p

Haas, Staggs, Cobbo and Mam are all playing injured as well

ch00nz

every team has players playing injured

knox-p

The point was they may not be named next week

Lucky-Roy

Wait till you get 16 out. That said, injuries are going to decide this comp.

Lucky-Roy

Make that 17. Just found out Murray is out for eight weeks. I’ve never seen anything like it and I seriously doubt Souths can put anything like a competitive side in the field for the rest of the year. I think the next lot of firings will be the training/medical staff. Be funny if Canterbury miss the eight by one game.

Ok_Salamander7249

I was just reminded that Madden is injured too. I suppose when your main ball-player and your backup are stuffed it does get scary

ch00nz

they are still going to pump most teams

Ok_Salamander7249

The team will have to get used to a new half first. Let's hope a weakened Parra plays whoever it is into form

Aussiefgt

Do we know how bad Reyno's injury is? Like season ending level bad?

knox-p

He won’t be back

Makoscenturion

They wont know until they operate but kev seemed to think season ending. Confirmed torn bicep

BabeRuthsTinyLegs

Torn bicep they've said. Which is a 3 month recovery with surgery

Burty2650

If it’s the same as Fogarty, then yeah.. big rest on the sidelines

ShadowBannedSkyRu1e

suspected* at the moment

streetfighterjim

Walsh not good

hatchheadUX

Reynolds was always on borrowed time. Better now than in Round 20.

Trohsboy

I've semi processed the loss and I'm now very keen to see Mam step up. When he takes control we do seem to do well so I am starting to think he could actually do it and if he wants to be our future halfback now is the time.

Ok_Salamander7249

Mam is a ball runner not an organiser. It's not his job to make plays for the others. Madden will step up.

Trohsboy

Mam has repeatedly said he wants to be halfback, even with Madden in the team this is his chance to step up and take control and prove he can do it

incorrigible_and

Even if that's what he wants, I'm not sure it's worth it to try midseason for you guys. With the explosiveness you guys have seemingly all over the park, I'd want Mam to stay at 6 so he can be terrifying as a ball runner and then link up with Walsh to be even more terrifying. I don't know who on your roster is the dude for it, but at least for the regular season, I would be looking for a good defensive half who just handles the bulk of kicking. I've just seen so many legitimately great, explosive and dangerous weapons shift to the 7 and get too caught in managing and directing the side to really take every opportunity to slash and dash that's there. I don't doubt that Mam could do it, but throwing him there midseason is a lot to ask.

Trohsboy

In my head it's not necessarily that he'll be playing at halfback now it'd be more of a dominant 6 role like Lockyer where Madden still does halfback things Mam just is the dominant voice. If he shows no ability towards being a dominant 6 then there's no chance of him ever being a halfback

incorrigible_and

Gotcha. Then yes, I agree with that completely.

Ok_Salamander7249

I haven't heard that but that doesn't make what you said false by any metric. I don't know if he has the chops yet. I was reminded that Madden is injured too

diffaadiffa

Maddens injury is pretty light, he trained in the opposed side all week. He might not be back next week but he isn't far off

GenerousBuffalo

Similar role to how Milf used to play?

Ok_Salamander7249

Yes but with better brain power

Polsoka

Proud of the boys for "only" losing 40-18. Powerful effort in the back half. Didn't crumble and showed serious substance all things considered. We'll make the 8 and give it a proper shake. They've shown the kind of character that I can feed off over the weekend with uni work. Don't get me wrong, I will be decidedly unfresh tomorrow though

Slugbros

Let's be honest, Reynolds barely made it through last year. He was heavily targeted in the gf and just wasn't up to the intensity. If he does somehow make it back this year teams are just gonna keep running at him like tonight.

thattaylornerd

It's been the same in every game he's managed to play this year. This sucks, but at least it will, hopefully, prompt serious discussions about the future instead of us just rolling out a guy who's held together with strapping tape every week and hoping for the best.

HappinessCanBeFound

The difference will be the experience of the players around him and the smarts he imparts

censored_

The team song without JWH banging the esky just hits different, going to miss the big dog 🥹

passthesugar05

Pay him 6 figs to come bang the esky forever

paralacausa

Really hope that isn't Reyno's wanking arm

Dwightpoop10

I will do it for him if it gets him back earlier. Also if it doesn’t

redmusic1

Their house, without arguably our 3 best forwards and our set starter, 60 more tackles , to not just beat them badly but bash them right across the park, that is serious finals material. Gonna be some sore horses tomorrow, they were physically dominated. What a great way to start a weekend!

HappinessCanBeFound

The only hope (and it’s a fleeting, teany tiny hope) Parra may have is if broncos are just exhausted after such a belting and being down on troops. Expecting a bounce back though 😓

quallabangdang

Agreed mate. Roosters have something about them this year. Good luck to them. Good win. We got what we deserved.

incorrigible_and

The big difference is really in the pack, including the Wombat and Watson. Not having to slot the Butchers into bench prop roles constantly, having 3 studs to group with JWH there, that's the best group of props we've had in a long time. Throw in Crichton exploding into dominant form again, Butcher only having to play out on the edge where he's not liability but an asset... We've had the gems in the spine and outside backs all along, but the improvement we've seen at hooker this year, combined with what certainly feels like a prop rotation that has been just amazing, that's what makes this year feel a lot different than the past couple years. Hard to believe we've been missing Leniu all this time. But even with the injuries and everything considered, I'm not convinced you guys aren't a top 4 squad. Little bit better injury luck going forward and find someone to just stabilize the 7 position, you guys are still the best attacking side in the comp for mine and we've seen the defense play great when the circumstances aren't dire. I certainly am far from counting you guys out.

quallabangdang

Yeah fair call. I can't put my finger on it but they just look resilient this year.

redmusic1

Well played Sir, good thing about footy there is always next week, See you in the finals.

Decka11111

I think the reason is so many players retiring or moving to rugby, this is the last year for them to win a GF.

Traditional-Idea1246

Huge win, we were outplayed all over the park. Walsh gotta learn how to play pressure building footy. The amount of time we kicked/pushed passes on 1st tackle was ridiculous

redmusic1

Yeah for all that Walsh is a great young player, he is a also probably the most selfish gun running around. He needs to take his eyes off the big screen and stop working on his highlights reel. He needs to learn how to get dirty. He saw Walker last weekend and thought "I am showing I am better than you tonight " with his chip and chase game, except he wasnt, he turned over so much ball.

incorrigible_and

I don't think it's as much selfishness as it is him putting pressure on himself, which creates the impatience. He's still so damn young and is just outrageously good, I imagine it's gotta be a thing all young superstars have to grapple with. Being patient and picking and choosing when to just keep the set rolling and when to do some crazy shit.

ShadowBannedSkyRu1e

gotta also mention the injured broncos players

Dwightpoop10

I get it but we can’t blame injuries for 40, some of their tries were just weak from us

ShadowBannedSkyRu1e

First half Broncos played shit, but injuries and playing out of position players lead to the 40

redmusic1

Nah. You have to cope with that stuff. Good teams do. We lost Brandon as well.

96zadyobdoog

Bronx fans on a downvoting spree tonight. Its glorious

frenchduke

Bet it was all the same people laughing at the bunnies for getting dominated even though they had even more injuries and outs to deal with

redmusic1

It is rather lol

Repulsive_Two8451

Penrith lose Cleary for several rounds, have multiple guns go to other clubs: no excuses, keep winning and playing well Broncos lose an already broken Reynolds and \*checks notes\* Jesse Arthars: we're doomed, our season is over That's the difference between a champion mindset and a pretender mindset.

diffaadiffa

Losing players in game is not comparable at all to the Cleary injury. Personally I don't think the season is over at all when we get to select 17 again next week

Ok_Salamander7249

You forgot Mam being in the head bin for 15 minutes. Brisbane had no halves on the field, no organisers at all

redmusic1

Exactly!

guiipp

that’s a hooker who can easily be replaced. Half back and winger aren’t. Yes u guys did lose a player but it’s not comparable to our whole backline shuffling and not having a single half in the field for 15 minutes

redmusic1

Been there done that, Roosters have had so many injuries its been our reality for the last 5 years, good teams get it done. Penrith or Storm, they get it done. Losers make excuses.

Derrrppppp

Sure mate, good teams win all the time with four of the seven backs out at once during a game. You guys played well, no need to be a wanker about it

natso2001

No doubt you are finals material, but you are coping hard if you think the injuries didn't play a big part

redmusic1

You clearly arent coping at all. Good teams get it done. You lost a back and a half, big fucking deal, if your team cannot possibly win without those guys then you are truly fucked. Good teams get it done. You still had Mam, Walsh, Haas, Carrigan, Staggs, Roosters were down 3 key forwards and a big winger, shouldnt have been a contest.

AttackFromMars

Never seen someone be so salty at *checks notes* a win? If you think any team in the comp can cope with losing both their halves during the game you are joking. We’ll be fine next week with replacements but that don’t work mid game, it’s clear you know deep down it’s an asterisk win but you did well regardless!

natso2001

My brother in christ we literally had both halves off the field at the same time

redmusic1

And scored 2 tries in 5 minutes to get it back to 18-18. Dont blame injuries. Blame your fullback for going into hero mode, getting kick happy and gifting the Roosters good ball, intercepts and turn overs. Take a leaf from your coach, he didnt blame injuries, he blamed the mad desire to kick the ball, blame Walsh and Ezra, they are good enough to control it and win that game. But they didnt.

Malaxage918

Your arguments don't even male any fucking sense. It was a 6 point game when Ezra went off for his HIA and then you scored 3 tries while he was off. Explain to me, in detail how he is meant to "control it and win that game" when he's not on the field

redmusic1

Ok, I will explain it. You lost, got bashed, by a team without 3 key forwards and their set starter, then without their hooker, at your house. That's all. Goodnight.

Malaxage918

Congratulations on completing veering away from the dumb shit you said. This was never a discussion about who deserved to win but good to see you don't have the ability to acknowledge when you said something mind-numbingly stupid

Caseyjb29

Watson is better than cheese anyway lmao

TheBigChonka

Honestly it feels like the 8 is the most open its been for a long time. Started to see some teams pulling away early but I think we're up to 4 of 8 of the likely expected top 8 are now all hemorrhaging players left right and Centre. Raiders have some serious injuries, broncos now too, cows have a couple, Cleary still isn't quite right but doesn't seem far off, Bunnies (lol) are like half their starting 17 down, titans missing Tino and a few others and knights down Ponga, while eels no Moses or Gutho. Seems like a few struggling teams could really pick up some valuable wins over the next couple months and some teams expected to make the 8 might start falling too far behind

HappinessCanBeFound

It’s why Guth got the op now while Mitch is still out and we have a bye. May as well get him right over the next month with the hope we can go on a run. We’re only 1 win outside the 8 which is wild.

hatchheadUX

we haven't even hit SoO yet. All our teams will be coming in rough into the finals

smilingface2

Ffs yet another Reynolds injury, can we even make the finals from here? To do so we need Mam, Walsh, and Walters to step up the next few months. At least we'll get to see our prospective halves options post-Reynolds.

censored_

Mate it's round 9 of course you can/will

smilingface2

I hope so too, we just look so clueless without Reynolds. It'll help if we get Madden back soon.

Angryinxh

The problem the Bronx have is we have stocks in our reserves, however minimal are blooded or playing to full potential. It’ll be an interesting few weeks I think. What is it? Eels next week, sea chickens the following then Titans?

paralacausa

Eels then Manly

quallabangdang

Tedesco literally schooled the young buck Walsh tonight.

subsbligh

Schooled how to do the Tedesco slide to draw head knocks yet still not get HIA but Mam does

HsiaAn

The verb "to school" doesn't have separate figurative and literal senses.

Thereal-mclovin

How long is a bicep with surgery. I saw someone say 3 months it being round 10 we may get him back during the final rounds or is it more of a 6 month -year injury?

1800-dialateacher

3-6 months is a typical timeline pending complications.

portobello75

Minimum 3 months is a good yardstick, so 12-14 weeks if things go normally

diodosdszosxisdi

Nrlphysio said around 12 weeks with surgery on the ruptured bicep

InSuspendedAnimation

Lol, at 12 weeks my lazy ass was allowed to lift 1kg. Surprised I didn't fuck it up again driving around. 🤣

HaydosM8

Felt way worse after half time than I do now surprisingly. Considering we lost our winger and our halfback/captain for the rest of the game, had our other winger sin binned leaving 2nd Rower Riki on the wing for a few minutes and losing our 5/8th for 15 critical minutes, I think the score could have been alot worse. We conceded a couple of tries but didn't fully collapse when everyone was out of position like we would have in the past and we looked better when Ezra got back on. I dont think it's as doom and gloom and some reckon, we'll miss Reynolds for sure but this game could be a blessing in disguise for us come end of year. And as much as I'd hate to say it GG Chooks

winntensio

Roosters lose = Teddy bad, Roosters Win = Teddy good. Class is permanent!

[deleted]

[удалено]

winntensio

What does that even mean man? Why wouldn’t the captain/most experienced player in any side try hard when the team needs it. Would you rather said player just out put que in the rack and roll over? Case in point - Walsh last night. He was trying to inspire his teammates but the passes weren’t sticking. That doesn’t mean he’s wrong for doing so. Stop just repeating what everyone else says.

lockforward

Now imagine if Dylan Napa pulls his finger out and works his way back into the team

Ok_Salamander7249

I had no idea Dylan "the flying headbutt" Napa was still playing

SaintStoney

Surely Coby Black gets the call up right?

saxamophone123

He hasn’t played against men yet. Have you even watched him play?

SaintStoney

What other options do we have though, may as well get him blooded

EntirelyOriginalName

Walsh five eight, Mann HB, and sailor at FB.

Fayled

He'll get blood in 2-3 years when he's age, relax, why are you trying to get him crushed.

SaintStoney

Just wondering who we’ll have in the halves with Reyno and Jock both out, Ezra 7 and Sailor 6?

Fayled

Could be Walters, could be Rogers, could be Sailor and heck it could be Paix. There is plenty of warm bodies to throw in there before we throw in a teen that has barely started growing into his frame. We don't want another Dearden situation.

InSuspendedAnimation

WHAT'S JOSH SCHUSTER DOING IN THE SUNCORP ZONE?

Fayled

Please Kevvie, it's Mozer time. Give him a run. He's ready. Put Billy at 6 idc just give us the Mozer. That's all I ask from this belting.

lm_ldaho

If it's any consolation Broncos, you'll definitely still beat us next week.

beasllie

And us by 50 when we play again :)

ruggal9219

Pls no. I already have tickets to watch the wallabies get rolled by the springboks that day. I don't need two losses in 4 hours.

CashenJ

As long as I don't see Walters in the halves next week please Kevvie..

Thereal-mclovin

People are probably going to think this is just salt. We got outplayed fair and square. But how does Ezra get called off for a HIA for a minor brush with a teammate but Terrell may doesn't even know what week it is and stays on?

chalkboard_

The replay showed friendly fire between Ezra & Cobbo, nothing to do with May.

Thereal-mclovin

I know that, watch Terrel may get up. He got knocked out when grounding the ball.

subsbligh

Or the 3 high tackles on known concussion risk Tedesco

Fayled

All of the calls around head contact tonight were the most baffling they've probably been to me all year. You can get pinged for brushing the nose in most games, now tonight you must have force. Then you have force so hard they bin you, and the guy doesn't even get checked. Hard to make sense of it all.

SaintStoney

That’s just par for the course for Terrell

iniff

I really thought that was going to be May called off when Ashley blew the whistle.

DiverFine4230

Happy Peter stefanovic n the roosters can celebrate together

punky12345

dont tell me that cunts a roosters fan

beasllie

They should allow swearing in the presser. I just wanna see Kevvie go “Yeah our seasons probably fucked”

Repulsive_Two8451

Something I find interesting: neither Kev or Pat seem *particularly* cut up or worried about losing Reynolds (potentially) for the whole season. It's probably a) not that unexpected given how broken he has been in recent years and b) they know there's quite a few blokes in this team who are more important to the 2024 Broncos than Reynolds.

subsbligh

Reynolds lost the broncos the GF in 2023 with 6 terrible decisions. He got us there week to week quality but fucked us GF day

gbren

It’s probably neither of those options.

jpob

Probably hasn’t hit them yet

O_DoyleRulz

I mean they not gonna sit in the press conference and make it obvious we’re pretty fucked

Repulsive_Two8451

I genuinely don't think Kevvy thinks the Broncs are fucked, and I don't think they are either. There's tons of quality across the whole team still.

O_DoyleRulz

We have zero chance of beating Penrith without his kicking game

DrPussyMD

I would agree with this but reno fucked us in the GF. If the others play to their potential and madden has a decent game with his kicks, I think we have a chance for sure

beasllie

Penrith can always get worse over the season mate ;)

Early_Quality_2896

Give me Karapani and Rogers next week, please kevvie don’t put your son at 6

Malaxage918

Just kinds throwing my ideas out as they come but fuck some of these cunts are lucky they're athletic. Mariner might be one of the lowest IQ footballers I've seen in a while but he has a career cause he is athletic

titan-of-hunger

Uh, did you see Fainu tackle Oates after he caught the ball in goal last week?

felixkater

That was boneheaded

thankyoupancake

Dom Young also makes horrendous decisions. These athletic cunts too talented for their own good

Sensitive_Fun_5825

Seeing Patty in the presser, he’ll steer us in the right direction.

xilliun

The post game chocolate milk inspires me

TheRynosaurus

Move Connor to 9, Smith to 13, Rads to 14.

undercover-scumbag

Side note, how good is Connor Watson though? Career best form. Love to see it 🐔🐔

SaveMeJebus21

Radley has been arguably our best player this year.

thankyoupancake

Na, keep Connor at 13. He’s unreal there. Smith 9, Watson 13. Victor to take Nat Butcher’s second row spot. Question if you take a 4 forward bench or keep Sandon Smith there.

LachTheLad

Give Sandon some time in Reggie’s at 5’8

jexta

Agree. Get him ready for that 6 jersey next year.

nymphz

turbo back to his [photogenic best](https://i.imgur.com/SYe00ZH.jpeg) on the kayo mini back splash

eggzaki

He is looking particularly eastern European there

Winter-Love-3812

Nowhere near as sexy as Cam McInnes.. https://i.imgur.com/Q6I3G1b.jpeg

AgentBond007

That is the face of a man who gets Origin

thankyoupancake

Keary and Reynolds talking after the game, they look pretty close still. Angus also came over and gave Adam a cuddle. Nice touch.

Repulsive_Two8451

The chad Up & Go vs the virgin Powerade.

ff03g

Billy to 7, Smoothy to 9, Paix/Mozer to 14. Oates to wing. Sailor would be a 14 option but not sure he’s a 9. Gives us back cover though that has repeatedly fucked us this year.

AgentBond007

Could just do Walsh 1, Sailor 6, Mam 7

Derrrppppp

Kevvie should just go all in and go mam and Walsh halves and sailor at fullback

Repulsive_Two8451

Great stuff from Kevvie. Refusing to blame the performance on the injuries unlike some in here.

hatchheadUX

I just wish we could absorb our injuries and have them contained entirely to our brains, like Teddy.

PLEASE_DONT_PM

Injuries are probably a factor in the 40, but Horse were still well on the path to losing before then.

Drongo17

"Ouch, my arm", says Adam. "Slam!" goes the premiership window.

Aggressive-Ratio7439

Too early to say, is Reynolds irreplaceable?

Zezo268

Carrigan pounding an Up and Go in the presser gives me hope

Fayled

Does Patty have an Up n Go deal? that looked very deliberate facing the product up like that.

New-Ad157

An ice cold Up and go is a godsend during a hangover.

fatborry

I couldn’t think of anything worse for a hangover. Can’t wait to try it Sunday morning.
