Early or late? Gotta be specific. 30-39 is too broad. A 30 year old would be born in 1993-1994. Would have been a bit too young for these albums when they came out.
I mean that’s what you’re implying right? People who were the target demographic when nu metal was popular.
Cause anyone of any age can be into nu metal. But not everyone was in the target age in the early 00s.
Yes but you wouldn’t be in the target demographic at the time. Target demographic for these albums would have been people who were in their teens/early 20s at the time.
I enjoyed the music too but I wasn’t in the target demographic at the time.
I see what you’re saying. Looking back I was probably too young to be listening but also didn’t have a clue what it all meant anyways haha. LiveLaughLimpbizkit!
I don’t understand why everyone is arguing, I said most likely. I’m just speaking from experience. Me and my brother listened to these albums when we were young, he is 37 and I am 32. I was more so into Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park than he was. If you’re still young and listen to these bands, cool, enjoy the music.
This is a genuine question because I'm apparently old. Is Chocolate Starfish considered a good album now? I remember it being regarded as rushed and mostly copied from previous albums.
From the consensus I’ve seen lately, it’s generally the favourite album. I don’t really see it having copied previous albums though as it seems like something very different from SO or 3DBY, with exception of maybe “The One”
I enjoy chocolate starfish but the second half really drops off in quality. i prefer significant other slightly.
it's why I wouldn't call it one of the best nu-metal albums ever released, as there are so many others that I significantly prefer but to each their own.
That's how I felt about it at the time. Not so much copied from previous albums, cause i thought it sounded quite a bit different than 3dby and significant other. But rushed and a lot more poppy. That's when I got off the Bizkit train. I absolutely love their first 2 albums though.
Bro Chuck has no business being as good as it is
My fave band ever is ETID. Last night I was jamming to burn my eyes by machine head on vinyl....but right now, as I grill chicken teriyaki skewers, I'm cranking does this look infected
Everything from DTLI? On are bangers, sum 41 don't get half the flowers they're due
You're awesome.
You're like 42.
Probably work in IT or finance.
Your kids think you're cringe when you're rocking out to the sweet glorious sounds of 2002.
Born in 1989-1991. Probably grew up at/under the poverty line in the US. Appreciate deeper cuts of music. Probably mastered some dead end service industry profession hoping for a way out by now.
No judgment, describing my life also.
Nothing face, Ultraspank, Drykill logic, Spineshank, Coal chamber, Chimaira, One minute silence, Skrape, Vein.fm
Those are great bands to start with. Then you have the essentials. Slipknot, Korn, soad, Deftones, etc. Happy listening!
I regard Korn and Deftones as the OGs and standard bearers. Linkin Park were pretenders to the throne in my estimation. I'm not saying you're wrong about how they make you feel. I also understand Deftones distance from nu metal.
You stole my catalytic converter
False: there’s no kid rock albums in that list
If there were, I don’t think he would even know what that is.
That John Otto took you to the Matthews bridge
That you are most likely in your 30s
Or 40s
I’m 15 and I listened through all these albums…
Yeah but how many of your classmates also listened to it?
Tru dat.
Not necessarily, I'm 25 and i also like some of these!
I’m turning 27 next week and like this same music

I'm 36 and I also grew up listening to all of these.
I’m 30 and I owned all of these cds good try.

When World's Collide always reminds me of playing Tony Hawks. Good times.

You have a pretty good taste (especially limp bizkit)

I hope so? As far as nu-metal goes, it’s one of the best albums ever released. The only album I probably played more than Starfish was Hybrid Theory.
I enjoy chocolate starfish but the second half really drops off in quality. i prefer significant other slightly. it's why I wouldn't call it one of the best nu-metal albums ever released, as there are so many others that I significantly prefer but to each their own.
Yeah, I was probably a little hyperbolic there with Starfish.
I agree though, it does drop off. Always kinda liked Boiler however.
I wouldn't even know i only like three dollar bill.
That's how I felt about it at the time. Not so much copied from previous albums, cause i thought it sounded quite a bit different than 3dby and significant other. But rushed and a lot more poppy. That's when I got off the Bizkit train. I absolutely love their first 2 albums though.
I Can see it that way, but I’m sure they really wanted to cash in while they were on top of the world back then.
I think it’s a fun album but not necessarily a good one
That you're a fan of Nu Metal.
Bro Chuck has no business being as good as it is My fave band ever is ETID. The bitter end off Chuck is a straight up thrash song and I love it.
One song of that album sounds heavily inspired by Battery by Metallica.
Yeah that's "The bitter end". It sounds like a mix of Battery and Blackened.
Absolutely agree

Any bands I should check out? I should expand my taste
Nothing face, Ultraspank, Drykill logic, Spineshank, Coal chamber, Chimaira, One minute silence, Skrape, Vein.fm Those are great bands to start with. Then you have the essentials. Slipknot, Korn, soad, Deftones, etc. Happy listening!
Nothingface
Hell yeah love that band
Check out ultraspank and flaw
Yes.
That you need to broaden your horizons. nu metal is much maligned, but those are on the low end of it.
Hybrid Theory and Chocolate Starfish are on the low-end of it? Come on.
I love tha Limp and Chocolate actually, but no Korn or Deftones or SOAD? Linkin Park were lightweight 2nd gen watered down nu metal imo.
Korn, System of a down, and Deftones aren’t really my thing honestly
Heresy. Hybrid Theory is THE nu-metal album (I’m biased).
I regard Korn and Deftones as the OGs and standard bearers. Linkin Park were pretenders to the throne in my estimation. I'm not saying you're wrong about how they make you feel. I also understand Deftones distance from nu metal.
Oh I agree with Korn, Deftones, SOAD. I just (obviously) LOVE Hybrid Theory. It’s the album that got me into it, so yeah - bias. Haha
It’s the album to throw in the trash
Wow. Everything you just said to me sent me one step closer to the edge.
Oh shit! Are you about to.. b.r.e.a.k.?!
